  • Incipio Atlas Waterproof iPhone 5 Case in White and Pink

Incipio already makes some of the best iPhone accessories out there, with a huge line of protective carrying cases that run the gamut from slim and lightweight to ultra tough. But with today's mobile accessory of the week, the cell phone accessories maker has turned it up a notch. Meet the Atlas, Incipio's new waterproof iPhone 5 case.

This newly released accessory is perfectly timed for summer, when you'll probably need a waterproof iPhone case. Meanwhile, the Atlas is well-geared to take on any other wear and tear your phone might see during your summer adventures.

The tempered glass front on this iPhone 5 case is the secret to its waterproofing, while its high-density silicone skin provides shock absorption and proetcts from drops, even on hard surfaces.

Probably one of the most protective cases Incipio's ever made, the Atlas not only offers top-notch protection from water, but is otherwise perfect for a day at the beach, since it also protects your phone from dust and dirt.

A quick look at Incipio's campaign video for the Atlas will show you the kind of abuse this carrying case is designed to handle. We see a skier drop his iPhone into a pile of snow, and a beach-goer kick sand all over hers.

If you're an active type who likes to get out and bout, it's nice not to have to worry about whether or not your phone is safe all the time. And with the Incipio Atlas, you'll be able to just go about your day and know your phone is well protected. Not to mention the case is really compact and is easy to snap on and off

Because it provides so much protection from so many different dangers, we'd even venture to say that the Atlas is the best iPhone 5 case Incipio has ever made. And with the company's already impressive lineup of iPhone accessories, that's saying something.

Whether it means a waterproof carrying case, or somewhere to stash your cash and cards for a day at the beach, we're bringing you our top picks with this list of the 5 best iPhone 5 cases for summer 2013.

Read on for our favorite accessories to keep your phone dry and looking hot, from leading brands like OtterBox, Incipio, LifeProof and Griffin.

5: Incipio Stashback iPhone 5 Case

Warm summer weather probably means you've got a lot less pockets to stash your phone, cash and credit cards. But with Incipio's Stashback iPhone 5 case, you can keep everything together in one place.

This iPhone 5 carrying case doubles as a wallet, with an exterior compartment for cash and cards, so you won't miss your winter jacket's pocket space. We especially like it in hot pink for the summer months.

2: Griffin Reveal iPhone 5 Case

Again, since summer means fewer pockets, you probably want to go with a slim and compact phone case this season. And Griffin's Reveal iPhone 5 case offers a compact "barely there" option that's super portable but also quite protective.

WIth a clear back and bright color options "Pool Blue" it simply screams summer.

    Now, onto the waterproof accessories.

If you're planning on doing any water sports or outdoor activities like hiking or camping this summer, an accessory that keeps your phone and valuables dry and safe is a must. More than just an iPhone 5 case, OtterBox's Pursuits 40 dry box actually fits a bunch of other essentials as well, keeping all the important stuff safe in one place.

But it does feature a rubber mesh compartment specifically designed to keep your iPhone 5 (or any other device) securely in place. And it'll protect your phone from all manner of mishaps, like drops, shocks, bumps and, of course, water.

    4. LifeProof Fre iPhone 5 waterproof case

If you'd rather just keep your phone dry, and don't need a whole dry box, accessories maker LifeProof has built a name for itself with its signature waterproof accessories. And their Fre iPhone 5 case is among the most reliable in this department.

It doesn't just protect your phone from spills and rain, it actually allows you to totally submerge your phone, which means you can easily take pictures and video underwater. We couldn't think of an accessory that's more suited to poolside summer days.

    5. OtterBox Armor iPhone 5 Case

Another waterproof OtterBox iPhone 5 case, the Armor goes beyond protection from water to offer protection from drops, bumps, scratches, shocks and even crushing force.

It's the all-around package, and therefore a great accessory for anyone planning an active summer. We also like the hot shades it comes in, from bright green or blue, to vibrant orange.

Summer's a great time to get out, and you want to make sure you've got an accessory that lets your phone go everywhere with you. And with any one of our top 5 iPhone 5 cases for hot summer days, that should be no problem.

  • Otterbox Pursuits Series 40 Dry Box Case Black

OtterBox already has a reputation for rugged protection. With ultra-tough, super-engineered accessories like their Defender case for Galaxy S4, iPhone 5 and more, it's a reputation that's more than earned. But today's Pure Mobile accessory of the week, the OtterBox Pursuits 40 Dry Box, takes things even further than everyday protection.

A hardcore carrying case for real adventures, the Pursuits 40 is a modern reinvention of the classic outdoorsman's dry box. And of course, being the 21st Century, that means it's designed to hold your smartphone, as well as other survival gear. It's even got a mesh panel that can accomodate a slew of phone models, from the iPhone 4S and 5, to Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4, BlackBerry handsets and way more.

With an internal volume of about 30 cubic inches, this totally waterproof case can take on a Galaxy S4 or iPhone 5 that's already in a case, with lots of room left over for  other things you'll need to keep safe and dry – valuables, bandages, ID, and small electronics.

Rubber mats on the interior cushion the contents from shocks and impact, while the rubber mesh panel keeps your phone snugly in place.

OtterBox Pursuits 40 Dry Box in Black OtterBox Pursuits 40 Dry Box in Black

And since this is after all an OtterBox case, the Pursuits 40 Dry Box is built like a fortress. This carrying case is not only completely waterproof up to 100 ft., it's also drop proof, dust proof and crush proof, tested to withstand up to 1,000 lbs. of force.

But just in case you're still worried about dropping it, the Pursuits 40 comes with carabiner loops that make it super easy to secure to a backpack or to otherwise keep close at hand.

We've already seen the level of protection OtterBox can offer when it comes to accessories for single devices, like iPhone and Galaxy Carrying cases. SO we can only assume that they've applied the same thoughtful design and rigorous testing to this larger, more robust case.

Perfect for adventurers, outdoorsy types and every kind of traveler imaginable, the Pursuits 40 Dry Box is a one-of-a-kind accessory that not only protects your smartphone the way only OtterBox could, but lets you go new places with total confidence in the safety of your valuables, electronics and survival gear. And that makes it our accessory of the week.

  • Otterbox armor series cases for iPhone galaxy S3

OtterBox carrying cases are already widely credited as some of the world's best . Their protective Defender and Commuter cases are highly reviewed and extremely popular. But even so, the company's been promising something new since 2012 and with their latest OtterBox Armor case for iPhone 5, they've delivered.

"The OtterBox iPhone 5 Armor Series case is a reinvention of an OtterBox classic that brings protection against water, drops, dust and crushing force," says the company.

But we feel that's a mild understatement. This super-tough case can actually survive a plunge of up to 6 metres, thanks to metal latches, an o-ring seal, port covers and mesh coverings.

Since it was only unveiled a little over a month ago at CES, the iPhone 5 Armor case, which is also available for iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S III, is basically the newest thing on the market.

But already, it's been surrounded by great reviews calling it one of the best. PC Mag listed the Armor case for iPhone 5 in its roundup of the 20 coolest cases at CES.

And for its part, OtterBox is calling it the toughest case ever built, adding, "This case was made with confidence. We encourage you to use it with some."

Otterbox has long been a leader in iPhone accessories, and with this latest offering, it looks as though the company intends to keep its crown. As for us, we're thrilled to have the Armor case for iPhone 5 available so early in its release, and we're pretty sure you will be too.

  • LifeProof Waterproof case iPhone 5 Black Mud Puddle

So, at the risk of a pun, LifeProof has made quite a splash in the past year or so, thanks to its highly effective waterproof Apple accessories. Not too long ago, we reviewed their waterproof carrying cases for iPad and iPhone 4/4S. But today's mobile accessory of the week is LifeProof's long-awaited accessory for iPhone 5.

The leading maker of waterproof carrying cases has finally put out its iPhone 5 model, and it's just arrived at Pure Mobile. As with LifeProof's versions for older Apple devices, the LifeProof Case for iPhone 5 is not only waterproof, but dirt-, snow-, and shock-proof too.

LifeProof 130101 Waterproof case iPhone 5 Black LifeProof Waterproof Case for iPhone 5 in Black

If you have any doubts in this area, they may be put to rest by the fact that the LifeProof waterproof case either meets or exceeds tests from both the U.S. and U.K. armies, so it's fully military-grade.

For such a rugged and resilient case, you might expect something much heavier and bulkier. But the LifeProof case for iPhone 5 is actually quite slim and light, totally in keeping with the design of the device it's intended to protect.

LifeProof 130102 Waterproof case iPhone 5 White LifeProof Waterproof Case for iPhone 5 in White

Another thing worth noting about aesthetics is that, for an iPhone 5 accessory that could have prospered based on its functionality and practicality alone, some extra effort has been put into looks here.

Though it's hardly a rainbow of color, it's nice to know that there's at least two color options (black and white) and that the overall look has been kept as simple and streamlined as possible, considering all that this accessory can do.

We will say this: in the realm of iPhone accessories, the LifeProof carrying case for iPhone 5 isn't cheap. But If you're looking for fully-protective waterproof, shock-proof and drop-proof functionality, it's among the best.

  • Incipio xGo iPhone 5 case waterproof Incipio's Xgo iPhone 5 case, unveiled at CES, is waterproof up to 25 feet. Image courtesy of 9to5Mac.

Move over Liferpoof, there's a new waterproof iPhone 5 case in town. 9to5Mac reported on a new, seriously rugged case from Incipio, unveiled yesterday at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

The award-winning cell phone accessories maker's latest is the xGO, a rough-and-tumble iPhone 5 case that's waterproof up to 25 feet, and which the company has branded as an "action sports equipped case solution," ideal for the adventurous type.

The xGO blends a plextonium frame with a silicone core and sports a tempered glass screen, so that your iPhone isn't just protected underwater, but maintains full functionality as well.

Meanwhile, the case's mounting system allows you to "effortlessly mount the case to backpacks, bicycles, surfboards," and comes with a bunch of cool screw-in lenses for your phone's camera, like wide angle, fish eye, macro and zoom.

This latest Incipio iPhone case "provides our active enthusiast with the ability to protect their mobile device and take it with them on all their adventures,” said Incipio Chief Executive Andy Fathollahi in a statement. It's a solution that "changes the way you use your iPhone 5," the company says.

If you're a rugged, sporty or outdoorsy type and can't wait to get your hands on one, the xGO will start rolling out next month in a number of colors, and will be available along with add-ons like attachments, hardware, nylon hand straps and more.

  • Sony's Xperia Z, one of two new phones the company just unveiled at CES 2013

Last week, on Pure Mobile's Canadian blog, we reported on a leaked picture of two yet to be unveiled smartphones that prematurely popped up on Sony's website. The devices in question were quite clearly the newest additions to Sony's Xperia line, but we expected to have to wait until this week's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to get some real idea of their specs.

And now as expected, Sony has brought the Android-powered Xperia Z and Xperia ZL to CES 2013 in Las Vegas, where attendees got to have the first real hands-on with the new phones, both of which are "worth getting excited about," according to Gizmodo.

According to reports, both phones have just about the same internal specs. Each sports a 5-inch,1080p TFT Reality display and a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. And both are LTE-capable, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

Even the 13MP cameras are the same and both can capture HDR video, except that the Xperia ZL's is rear-facing and the Xperia Z's is front-facing.

    Sony's Xperia ZL

So far, the reviews are mostly raves, with Gizmodo calling them "the best phones Sony has ever made, by a huge margin," and with Engadget claiming "Sony may have a bonafide hit on its hands with the Xperia ZL."

So what's really so great about them? Well, for starters, the sleek, glassy surface of the Xperia Z is totally waterproof for up to 30 minutes at up to 3 feet. Meanwhile, the ZL, which isn't waterproof, works as a universal remote. Both phones also boast an awesome Battery Stamina Mode feature, that turns your data stream off when your phone is idle, so your standby time will be increased by up to 400 percent.

For a while now, Sony phones have sort of been taking a backseat to other Android devices. But if the reception at this year's CES is any indication, their newest phones may just have them poised to take a much more aggressive position once the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL launch sometime around March.

  • LifeProof's new Nüüd iPad case promises "barely there" waterproof protection

Humankind's fascination with gadgets can only be rivalled by our longstanding fascination with water.

So, even though we quake with fear at the thought of submerging our iPads, iPhones and other devices, it shouldn't really surprise us that, when people go swimming or surfing, they want to take their tablet or smartphone along.

We've already seen something of the waterproofing trend from LifeProof – the San Diego-based company boasts what's been called the slimmest waterproof case for iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.

But now, the New York Times' Gadgetwise blog is reporting on the company's latest in elemental shielding for Apple devices.

This time, LifeProof has taken its efforts to tablets, with the waterproof Nüüd iPad case. The product gets its name from the fact that there's actually no screen covering – your iPad's naked glass screen is already waterproof, and adding an extra film on top only reduces clarity.

Instead, the Nüüd case seals around the glass and provides a waterproof backing for the rest of the iPad. There's also access at the bottom for charging and syncing, so you don't have to constantly take the case off and put it back on again.

As Gadgetwise points out, you still may not want to do any serious snorkeling with your iPad, since it wasn't really designed for that. But the new iPad case is great for poolside, a day at the beach, or any other routine encounter with water.

You may swear to have never texted on the toilet, but show me the techie who says they've never brought their phone or tablet into the bathroom, and I'll show you a liar. In any case, waterproofing just makes solid sense.

Any survival expert will tell you that where there's life, there's water. But as we at Pure Mobile know, where there's life, there's also tech.

  • That's right folks according to IntoMobile.com Nokia is set to release a new cell phone sometime in September.  If the rumors are right this will be the Nokia 3720 and it will be a waterproof phone that is also dustproof.

Being waterproof and dustproof the Nokia 3720 will let you worry less about common problems that plague cell phones.  Many people spill a little water on them.  Another feature is the Nokia 3720 is also shockproof.  This means that it can be dropped and the phone will still work.  Granted we're not saying take it to the top of a 5 story building but you won't have to worry anymore if it falls of the table or slips out your pocket

So for now this is simply a rumor and we will have to all wait to an official announcement with specs but at least it looks promising.
