  • Scosche Chameleon Earbuds with tapLINEII HP65MD2 Blue Green Grey

Don't get us wrong, we think Apple's headphones are great. The only problem is, you're basically not going to find them in your favorite color, unless of course it's white. But wouldn't it be nice to find some earbuds that not only work with all your Apple gear and sport the same kind of mic and remote your official Apple headphones do, but with a little color choice?

That's where Scosche comes in. The mobile and cell phone accessories maker is well known for its top of the line audio accessories, from big stuff like car stereos, amps and subs, to little gems, like their Chameleon Earbuds with tapLINE II remote and mic.

Compatible with pretty much any Apple device made after 2008 – they work with iPhone, iPod and MacBook – the Chameleon Earbuds are aptly named. That's because each pair comes with three different colors of interchangeable caps that you can easily switch out to suit your mood or style du jour. (We especially like them in the blue, green and grey availability, which are truly reminiscent of an actual chameleon.)

Of course, there's more to these Scosche headphones than just the pretty surface. As you'd expect from any iPhone headphones, they're equipped a remote and microphone in the integrated the tapLINE II control surface. So you can easily switch tracks, play, pause, and control volume, as well as answer and end calls.

Nevermind that you'll get great sound on the cheap with the Chameleon Earbuds – pretty much the best you'll get from any Apple-compatible earbuds with mic. And, just to make your sound that much better, Scosche even offers a free app called tuneQ, which further enhances your listening experience when you use these colorful headphones.

For the money, you probably won't find a more colorful, more reliable or higher quality set of headphones for your Apple devices. And fashion chameleons will rejoice in the freedom of color that comes along with these great little earbuds.

  • Griffin just unveiled its latest accessories, like the PowerDock 5, at CES in Las Vegas

We're smack in the middle of the Consumer Electronics Show, which is a pretty big deal for us at Pure Mobile. That's because the annual CES event is basically the biggest event around for anyone interested in the newest and best in mobile technologies, like the latest in phones and accessories.

It's where most of the major names in mobile, like Samsung, Nokia and HTC choose to reveal new smartphones and other gadgets, and where it's we get the scoop on the best new accessories.

This year's CES is still going on in in Las Vegas, and already we've seen some cool stuff for from one of our favorite accessories makers, Griffin. The company's already well known for its iPhone, iPad and iPod accessories, like tough cases and the like. And CES 2013 has seen the launch of even more Apple accessories from the company.

Among Griffin's newest offerings is the PowerDock 5, a USB docking station for iPhone, iPad and iPod that works on what Engadget calls a "toast-rack" design and can charge multiple devices at once with a capacity of up to 5 iPads at once. Pretty cool for households with more than a couple of people, or for really geared up techies.

But Griffin has as just as big of a reputation for audio, and they're living up to it this year with the launch of new audio accessories like an updated Lightning version of their iPad StudioConnect, as well as a new Mic Stand Mount "that works like a traditional microphone performance stand," says 9to5Mac, but for iPad. Oh yeah, and they've also introduced a new studio-quality XLR to 3.5mm recording mic for iPhone and iPad, but it won't be available til June

  • When you're listening to your favorite music, you want to hear every nuance, every instrument, every note, every word, and nothing more.

Unfortunately, even when you're listening with headphones, you often get a lot of unwanted add-ons – your neighbor yelling into the phone, a delivery truck idling down the street, the leaky faucet. Not exactly an ideal music listening experience, is it?

But today's mobile accessory of the week may just change all that. Designed to give you a superior sound without all the extra noise, ClarityOne's Premium Earbuds actually bring new technology to the table for the truest, most uncluttered audio we've seen – or rather, heard – yet.

They may appear to be rather small and mild-mannered aluminum earbuds, but ClarityOnes have something no other headphones on the market do – the Patented PureSound Processor, technology that took ClarityOne over 12 years to develop and perfect.

Most of today's standard headphones, earbuds, and speakers use voice coil or single coil technology, which was originally designed about a century ago for electric motors. the problem, explains ClarityOne, is that "all audio signals that go through a voice coil or a coil crossover is subject to interference. We know of this evil as distortion and loss of harmonics or your sound."

Instead of coils, ClarityOne earbuds use a different technology based on a coupling unit rather than a crossover. There's a lot of science involved in the explanation, which ClarityOne is happy to walk you through in the Tech section of their website.

But in short, they promise that their PureSound Processor produces pure, clean, undistorted sound that preserves the original harmonics and quality of all music, with no distortion.

And even though that promise, on its own, would set their headphones and earbuds a cut above the rest, ClarityOne hasn't stopped there. They've also tended to little details that would improve upon the design of even traditional headphones.

Each pair of ClarityOne Premium Earbuds come equipped with a lightweight microphone with call-answer and call-end features, as well as a track control feature so you can easily skip through songs.

The earbuds are also available with three different sizes of custom silicone tips, so you can get a perfect, comfortable fit that also eliminates all outside noise. And their wires are designed to resist tangles, which in the end, improves their lifespan.

We could probably go on and on, but the best test is probably to try them out, and see how they stack up next to your standard pair of headphones. We doubt you'll be disappointed.
