Over the past week or so, we at Pure Mobile have been fussing quite a bit over the new Galaxy S4 and all the latest accessories for it. But we're also pretty pumped about another new Android phone, and we're really excited about the new arrival at our shop of a slew of cool HTC One accessories and carrying cases.

Back at the end of February, when the HTC One was unveiled, we gave you the lowdown on the phone's sleek, lightweight design and top-of-the line screen and interface. And now that its actually arrived, we're just as eager to give you the lowdown on the huge range of HTC One accessories now available.

Some of the leading accessories makers are turning their attention to the latest HTC phone, with popular carrying cases like OtterBox's Defender and Commuter now available for the HTC One. Both are already among the most protective and highest rated carrying cases for other phones, like the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4. And the models for HTC One are no different.

Likewise, Incipio's also released their own HTC One accessories, with a model of their popular Feather carrying case for the latest HTC device. As with models for other devices, the Feather still offers rugged protection in a slim, lightweight case.

And of course, it's only to be expected that there be a few official HTC-branded accessories in the mix as well, like the Double Dip hardshell case and Double Dip Flip case for HTC One, both of which are stylish, sophisticated, and in keeping with the overall look of the HTC One.

There are plenty of other options as well when it comes to new HTC One accessories, from more heavy-duty cases to slim, minimalist protection. And, as much as the Galaxy S4 seems to be the star among new smartphones, all the attention being paid to the HTC One from accessories makers just goes to show that this is one phone that's got star quality of its own.

Android texting application Swype has been in the design phase for awhile, but its beta shows it has evolved into a sophisticated next-generation app with four-in-one keyboard and voice capabilities.

Swype’s four keyboard choices and 55 language downloads

Chief among the app's redesign is the option of using one of four kinds of keyboards:  traditional letter-to-letter swiping, while adding the ability to type with predictive text input, use an integrated Dragon button to speak the text, or rely on the old peck-and-hunt one-finger motion. Users can swap between any of the modes limitlessly.

Swype’s new features also include next-word prediction that allows the app to build on historical usage, compiling every word a user enters in emails, texts, or other posts. Swype's 55 language downloads allow users to communicate in any language they can speak.  Swype can be installed on all Android based cell phones including the Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S2 as well as HTC One X and Motorola Droid Razr

According to Michael Thompson, EVP and general manager for Nuance Mobile (the speech-recognition software building company that acquired Swype last October), "People use their keyboards every day in every way — so input needs to be fast and simple. The new Swype living, learning keyboard users in a new era of input, where the keyboard adapts to the user's unique way of communicating every time they swype, speak, tap, or write."

The Swype Beta for Android is available for download via beta.swype.com. There's also an SDK for other operating systems.

HTC  has just confirmed that a hardware problem is causing Wi-Fi connectivity issues with their HTC One X smartphone.  To verify if your One X smartphone is defective... simply run the Wi-Fi  squeeze test if the signal strength improves - it confirms that the device is defective.

HTC confirms wifi hardware problem with their One X

The company is obviously faced with a tough hardware problem. A software update isn’t the answer. This isn’t the first time HTC has had Wi-Fi signal problems. Awhile back its HTC Sensation suffered from antenna design problems.

HTC has stepped up early and accepted blame. In a public statement a company rep said: "After investigating isolated reports of Wi-Fi connectivity issues in the HTC One X, we have identified a fix that strengthens the area of the phone around the Wi-Fi antennae connection points. While many customers have not experienced any problems with signal strength, we have taken immediate steps to implement a solution in our production process to prevent this issue from happening in the future. HTC is committed to making sure every customer has a great experience and we apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused while we conducted a thorough investigation."

This statement describes the production changes going forward, but there still doesn’t appear to be a plan for dealing with the defective phones already in consumer hands.  Everyone is covered by the warranty replacement protection, so if you think your phone has the problem, take it back to the point of purchase right away. Don’t let the warranty period expire.

We hope HTC takes their corrective action one step further and provides protection for this defect to One X owners on an unlimited basis. What’s to say the problem couldn’t pop up in these phones at a later date?

HTC the manufacturer of the HTC One X, HTC One S, HTC One VHTC Evo, HTC Amaze smartphones and HTC Flyer and HTC Jetstream tablets   is buying S3 Graphics in an effort to add to its patent portfolio, as well as help defend itself from some of the lawsuit activity plaguing the electronics and software industries.

HTC working on its own patent protection by acquiring S3 Graphics

Grace Lei, HTC’s general counsel, said the company wants ownership of S3′s patents, in part, as a response to the 2011 U.S. International Trade Commission finding that Apple was in violation of various S3 patents (although this ruling was later overturned.) As Lei put it at the annual HTC shareholder’s meeting, “We think S3′s patent portfolio is valid and strong, and we have decided to complete the purchase of S3 after cautious assessment.” Lei also noted that S3 owns about 270 patents, including those licensed to Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft.

HTC has been locked in a battle with Apple over its alleged infringement of Apple patents in its Android handsets. Apple had been able get U.S. Customs to delay shipments of the HTC One X smartphone to U.S. carriers, in effect delaying that device’s launch by two weeks.

U.S. Customs cleared the devices for shipment at the end of May. HTC is insisting that its technology does not infringe upon Apple’s patents.

With six consecutive months of record revenue in 2011 HTC cell phones and HTC tablets seemed to be having a great run. Now it looks like the Taiwan-based manufacturer has run off the road. HTC just reported May sales figures that are down roughly $1 billion, or 26.13% from the same month a year ago.

HTC sales down $1 billion from a year ago

With to the launch of its latest flagship smartphone, the HTC One X, HTC was expecting better results. HTC reduced its second quarter revenue target by 13.3% to $3.03 billion. The company’s original forecast had predicted second quarter 2012 revenue of $3.5 billion, up from $2.2 billion in the first quarter.

Canaccord Genuity analyst Mike Walkley summed up the situation to investors on Wednesday: “While our checks indicated positive sales trends for HTC’s new One series smartphones, overall weaker sales in Europe, a charge to clear older inventory, and U.S. Customs delays led to softer Q2 sales. With our checks indicating strong initial HTC EVO sales at Sprint, we anticipate an improving One Series sales mix in Q3/12 that should have a positive impact to gross and operating margins.”

Enhance your gaming mobility and turn your device into a gamers' power tool!  Discover select accessories such as; stylus & pens, micro SD memory cards, batteries, docking stations, Bluetooth headsets, data cables, HTC Media Link and XMI Speakers all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

HTC sales down $1 billion from a year ago

Walkley still assigns HTC stock a “Buy” rating with a price target of NT$503. “Due to our lowered HTC smartphone estimates for 2012 and 2013, primarily for the Europe market, we are lowering our 2012 EPS estimate from NT$44.90 to NT$34.75 and our 2013 estimate from NT$55.10 to NT$50.32.”

HTC ‘s future looks bright. The company’s new One S smartphone is getting good reviews. T-Mobile’s version of the One X launched in April, and now that the phones have cleared a hang-up in U.S. Customs, One X will soon be available from AT&T. The One X is also in Sprint stores as the EVO 4G LTE.

Google jumped its final hurdle in its $12.5 billion acquisition of Motorola Mobility with China approving the deal. The next step may involve layoffs for Motorola Mobility employees in the near future. According to Tech Crunch, layoffs could be on the list of things to do after the deal closes.

What else will happen to Motorola Now that they’re owned by Google?

Discover the latest innovative protection solutions for Motorola cell phones ... stylish top brand bags, sleeves as well as  cases and skins specifically designed to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

Motorola went through one restructuring after the announcement of the Google acquisition last year. When the announcement went public, Motorola had 19,000 employees. Later that year about 800 employees were laid off.  Neither Google nor Motorola have confirmed the possibility of upcoming layoffs.

"I'm excited to announce today that our Motorola Mobility deal has closed," said Larry Page, Google CEO. "Motorola is a great American tech company that has driven the mobile revolution, with a track record of over 80 years of innovation, including the creation of the first cell phone. We all remember Motorola's StarTAC, which at the time seemed tiny and showed the real potential of these devices. As the company who made a big, early bet on Android, Motorola has become an incredibly valuable partner to Google."

While the news of any layoffs under any circumstances is bad news, maybe Google can turn the phone- maker around. Motorola has been in trouble for awhile now. Earlier this month, the company reported a fifth straight quarter of losses including a net loss of $86 million for the first quarter of 2012. In previous consecutive quarters, Motorola reported net losses in the low $80 million area. Motorola hasn’t been able to figure out how to compete with other Android device manufacturers like Samsung and HTC.

Google also announced today that Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha has stepped down and Google executive Dennis Woodside will take over.

HTC and Apple are battling it out in a patent dispute.   As a result, shipments of the HTC EVO 4G LTE and HTC One X smartphones have been held up by United States Customs as part of an International Trade Commission investigation.

    Apple vs HTC Battle

This action has caused Sprint to delay the launch of their EVO 4G LTE device indefinitely. AT&T is reporting that its supply of HTC One X will be taxed due to the ongoing fight between HTC and Apple. Before the phones can clear U.S. Customs, the ITC will need to determine if HTC’s latest handsets are in compliance with an earlier ruling.

While HTC has carved a reputation as a leader in mobile technology and devices , it is also gained notoriety for being pretty slow with bringing cell phone accessories and tablet accessories to the market. Industry leading manufacturers continue to provide the greatest selection of top brand accessories from Bags and Sleeves, Batteries, Bluetooth Headsets and Bluetooth Car Kits, Car Holders, Cases and Skins, Data Cables, Earbuds and Headsets, Keyboard and Protectors, Memory Cards, Screen Protectors, Speakers and Docks as well as Stylus and Pens

A spokesman from HTC said, “The US availability of the HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE has been delayed due to a standard U.S. Customs review of shipments that is required after an ITC exclusion order.
