SoftBank Cell Phones
Company Description
In March 2006, the British-based Vodaphone Japan was sold and renamed as SoftBank Mobile, a subsidiary of a leading Japanese telecommunications and media corporation, SoftBank. The company offers a wide range of sophisticated mobile voice and data services. In November 2000, they had launched the mobile industry's first picture messaging service, Sha-mail.
As the latest player in the island nation’s cutthroat mobile phones sector, SoftBank Mobile acquired more than 15 million subscribers. Along with the more than 85% also subscribed to Vodafone Live!, the company's interactive mobile service, SoftBank ranks as the no. 3 service provider.
In October 2006, 13 SoftBank cell phones were launched alongside the new brand. Some of the models available at PureMobile include the Softbank 705SC phone, a Samsung handset with a sliding mechanism, and the SoftBank 706SC phone, another Samsung-made handset.
In the spring of 2007, SoftBank Mobile will likely be the first Japanese mobile operator to launch Windows Mobile 6-based HTC smartphones.
