  • T-Mobile has released information about the highly anticipated LG G-Slate, just days after information regarding the Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant 4G announcement. The tablet was first shown just over a month ago at the Consumer Electronics Show, and will be available to consumers in the spring. The device will have some very interesting capabilities that should allow it to be one of the more popular devices on the market.

The LG G-Slate will include a high definition 8.9 inch display that is capable of multi-touch technology. It will also be able to record 3D and full HD video, which is not something that we have previously seen from a tablet. It appears that the entry level tablet era has come and gone and now manufacturers are competing to include as many features as possible in their most recent announcements. The inclusion of these features should make the LG G-Slate one of the most highly anticipated tablets on the market during this upcoming spring.

The device will also feature 720p HD video playback straight from the device as well as an HDMI output that will allow for 1080p HD content to be played on HD displays. As far as hardware goes, the G-Slate will feature a dual-core, NVIDIA Tegra 2 Processor that comes complete with 32GB of storage and will run on the Google Android 3.0, also known as Honeycomb, operating system. The tablet should start to gain momentum now that it has been announced, and could potentially take on some of the biggest names in the space, including the Motorola Xoom, when it is finally released.

The fact that the tablet will be able to play high definition content on 3D TV’s should draw in users that own these television sets. So far, no tablet even similar to the LG Unlocked (G-Slate) has been announced thus far. It will certainly be interesting to see how well the tablet is able to perform in the first hands on testing sessions once we get a little bit closer to its release.

  • Although the announcement comes a few days after their predicted January 1st 10 million sales mark, it appears that Samsung has been able to do so in the days following the turn of the New Year. They were at a total of 9.3 million sales in the middle of December and estimates stated that they would not be reaching the 10 million mark until later this month, but it appears that the holiday season was good to Samsung, allowing them to put out a total of 10 million Galaxy S devices to their users since the mobile device was first released.

The sales figure was very impressive, and shows that Samsung is a legit competitor for Apple and the unlocked iPhone 4. It is the only mobile device other than the iPhone to reach that sales mark in the modern day mobile industry. The only other phone to hit the mark was the Samsung Star. The Star was able to hit the mark in a total of six months making it the fastest selling Samsung device ever released, but the Samsung Galaxy S appears as if it may have more longevity than the Star did.

The Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S is sold on most of the largest mobile providers in the world so it should presumably continue to sell well for quite some time, especially with all of the great press that Samsung will receive for reaching the 10 million sales mark. The popularity of the Samsung S can be attributed to the great processor, excellent marketing and customer service that Samsung has come to be known for in the mobile space. Recent rumors have stated that Samsung could be looking to release a dual core model of the S sometime this year, hopefully that comes to fruition and continues to boost the sales of the device.

  • The Android has arrived! Well technically it arrived a long time back when Google officially released it, but the sales report figures now prove that Google Android has indeed arrived. Brace yourselves people, Google Android sales have beaten figures for the Apple unlocked iPhone4 globally. Need a bigger shock still? Google Android sales have also beaten sales figures for the BlackBerry in the United States. The Android invasion is on! The numbers in all practicality are not very surprising, since several research firms confirm that Android sales are going very strong indeed. Android devices according to Gartner have had 10.6 million sets shipped out into the market this quarter, clearly edging out iOS to be placed third overall, which culminates to close to 17.2% of the market share. What inspires awe is the fact that this is in fact a growth of 850% for Android in a matter of one year.

Android’s incredible sale figures this quarter is dedicated to the fact that it managed availability across several mobile operators, that too on numerous mobile devices. It has been powering pretty high-profile, high end devices like the Samsung unlocked Galaxy S mobile devices and the HTC EVO 4G.

A report says that Apple sold around 9 million iPhones this quarter, which culminates to 14.2% share of the mobile market. Out of this the unlocked iPhone 4, itself had sold three million sets in a matter of 3 weeks. Apple, despite not having the biggest market share still posts a higher profit from sales because of the higher profit margin per device it holds out. Before we end up too excited with Google Android or with the Apple iPhone, we would do well to note that RIM and Nokia are still on top of the mobile mountain, when it comes to pure market share. Till date Symbian OS is still the most popular platform for smartphones in the world today commanding close to 41.2% share of the market, with BlackBerry posting a share of 18.2%.

  • As the release of the Unlocked Motorola Droid has caught the attention of the entire world of the smartphone, we have got reports that Samsung and carriers Verizon Wireless are engaged in finalizing their agreement where they will release the Fascinate which is Verizon’s version of the Galaxy S and Gem which are the two most popular Android phones which are currently out in the market.  We have got some great details of the release and more which we can tell you about. Above all, one needs to know that these phones have succeeded in a major way in the international market and this release with Verizon is just going to put it at a notch higher than what it was for this phone. Sales are expected to be higher because of this fact that people are already pretty familiar with this phone and therefore are well aware of the specs for this device.

Other major networks in the country are also pretty much hyped about the release of the Samsung Unlocked Galaxy S (variants) where there have been carriers like T-Mobile who are have already come up with their variations of the Galaxy S. The T-Mobile Vibrant and the AT&T Captivate are some of the variants which are there in the market. As for the Verizon variant, this phone has specs which are pretty similar to the other ones. The most eye catching feature will definitely be the WVGA super AMOLED screen and the 5 megapixel camera without forgetting the pretty strong 1GHz Hummingbird processor. You will also get the capability to record 720p HD video and the Android 2.1 platform with the Touchwiz 3.0 UI is however slightly changed for the Verizon as it now comes with a metallic body which just adds to the look of the phone. We however do not know much about the Gem which is set to launch with Verizon only in September.

  • Alien Babel Tech recently discovered that the HTC Vanguard, a T-Mobile operating with a HSPA+ network has a speed, which surpasses many other networks. The man who presented the benchmark at first place was Mike Bibik, a Senior Interaction Designer for T-mobile. This high-speed crazy machine has two other names like G1 Blaze Vision and Glacier. Other high-speed smartphones in the market are the Samsung Unlocked Galaxy S and the iPhone 4. When compared with the HTC Vanguard, these two phones scored 50% less than the HTC Vanguard in terms of CPU and GPU performance. A fast GPU and CPU obviously offer the users fast net connections on the phone.

This high speed facilitates browsing and downloading and thus makes phone web an enjoyable experience for its users. Earlier even if smartphones had amazing resolution and most of the key features downloading speed on the phone was very low. Thus they could not raise much in the markets. Now with highly compatible application desired speed is available on an Android Operating System. Also to increase the battery life of the phones microSIM cards have been developed. These are greatly reduced versions in terms of size.

Once the SIM card size gets reduced developers can get an opportunity to increase the battery size. This will offer longer browsing hours on the phone. These microSIM chips have been designed from 45 nm transistors and the next version promises to make it even smaller! The price of this device has not yet been finalized. One thing is that after getting high ratings on the net speed the price is expected to be pretty high and so it might not be economical for all classes of the society. Nevertheless this new HTC Vanguard phone definitely is a contribution to the world of today’s smartphones.

  • The Unlocked iPhone 4 has a new and very formidable competitor in the Samsung Vibrant which is the T-Mobile variant of the Samsung S Galaxy that you might not have heard of. This phone is a very good choice for the person who wants to buy a strong smartphone and in fact we feel that this phone might just have the capacity to swing some of the potential buyers of the iPhone to their favor. This device is a great asset to the T-Mobile carrier and it will surely dissuade many people from switching to AT&T with the Apple iPhone 4. We are pretty excited to have the chance to sample this phone for ourselves and we can say that we are impressed.

The design of the Samsung unlocked Galaxy S which T-Mobile went for is more closely related to the original phone’s look and we feel they have done the right thing here. The screen of the phone is the new and very exciting super AMOLED screen and the capacitive navigation buttons caught our attention. It also has dedicated volume keys which make this phone look really smooth. However the phone’s more visible bezel makes this less sleek as compared to the Captivate. As for the hardware, other than the AMOLED screen, its 5 megapixel camera, 16 GB built in memory and microSD card input slot. There is also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 other than these. The memory card on this phone can be taken out and replaced without having to take the battery out or reboot this phone, which save the users from a lot of hassle.

The Android 2.1 adorns this phone and is good enough for now. The skin is the Samsung S Life User Interface and you can play around with it. Other than this, there are a number of other features you must look forward to in this great device.

  • It has been a regular trend that Android devices are rooted before they are officially introduced. US variants of Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S are set to follow suit. Samsung Galaxy S seems to have managed to get rooted already and it is sure to be of great attraction. This indicates the fact that the Vibrant can be got and rooted as early as tomorrow. This is quite sensational news for many. LeshaK of Samdroid is considered the first to be able to get root access to the Samsung Galaxy S. XDA also has been instrumental in getting this to work with US versions.

This has made Vibrant even more attractive and appealing. It has a great look which is highly persuasive and it can be easily packed with a custom Android 2.2 Froyo ROM. This is what makes it a super innovative device and sets it apart from the rest. Additional qualities are also present.

With assistance of the root method, it is possible to run new software in phones like Samsung Unlocked (TouchWiz) if you are not happy with the present softwares, It is known that there has been custom ROM for the original Samsung Galaxy S for quite some time now, however, it has so far not been tested on a US model.

The root is quite easy and is almost as simple as connecting the device to a computer. By just starting a file, you will have access to some root-only applications which are tremendously classy. It is an amazing process. Galaxy S variants are quickly spreading and although it will never manage to be the best around, it may be quite close to securing that position. They have been efficient is getting thus far and it wouldn’t be surprising if they manage to lead the pack in the near future.

  • The initial order for the new Motorola Milestone Unlocked Droid ( X )had quite a stock shortage. But now the ‘Best Buy’ has stated that Motorola are again taking pre –orders for this Droid X version on Verizon. This pre-ordering has been started just recently. Best Buy has also informed us that there is still no specific launch date that has been fixed for this model but sources are pretty confident that it will be around the 15th of this month. Verizon has presented an offer for its customers. It is allowing them to switch to pre ordering of the Droid X model if they have already jumped ship to the HTC Droid Incredible model.

The new model has a commanding screen space of 4.3” 854 x 480-touch screen. This Droid X model has a 2.1 GHz processor with an HDMI-out. Also in its arsenal is the 8 megapixel camera and dual LED flash 720p video recording facilities, a closer inspection reveals that much of its specifications and features have a striking similarity with another model of theirs- the HTC EVO 4G. Only major difference being that the Verizon provides a much better coverage than that of the Sprint’s WiMAX.

The Droid is being launched with an initial price tag of $199. This will be done on a two-year contract with that of the Verizon Company.

Though the Droid X promises a lot but this Android powered Smartphone will have its work cut out as it will face a lot of competition from other upcoming Smartphone’s. It will be under a lot of pressure to perform effectively to outdo the new Apple IPhone 4 that’s also going to be launched this time of the year. Not only the iPhone, but also the Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S phones or the EVO 4G will give the Droid X model with its packed inventory of smart features a run for its money.

  • A look at Sprint’s Epic 4G
Posted on July 6, 2010 by Pure Mobile

The recent release of Sprint's Epic 4G showcases it's place of pride in Samsung's Unlocked Galaxy S series of devices. This new range of smartphones offer cutting-edge standards in screen real-estate, speed and quality of content resulting in a remarkable user experience.

Says Steve Elfman, president, Network Operations and Wholesale, "Sprint has now been able to branch out into a new, diverse field with the second 4G-capable smartphone. There are other powerful devices that currently offer such 4G capabilities and the Samsung Epic 4G is the latest recruit.  We value all our customers and as such leverage increased data speeds, thereby providing all users with the ability of gaining all the required functionality and high definition entertainment they need. "

The Epic 4G boasts a full QWERTY slide-out keyboard has well as WiMax connectivity - somehting which only the Sprint device has in the Galaxy S series, making it quite future-proof as far as connectivity issues go.

The handset itself is robust and looks like it can stand up to wear and tear. The physical QWERTY keypad is quite easy to manipulate with fingers and doesn't add as much bulk to the phone as might be expected.

The screen itself it 4 inches, quite large enough for easy use. It's Super AMOLED touchscreen produces brilliantly crisp images. It gives a very realistic rendition of color matching that of original content. The response time is considerably fast, which results in reduction of "ghosting" images. The wide viewing angles prevents distorted or blurred images. The design is on the whole more accurate and has a greater degree of touch-responsiveness.

"With the Unlocked Samsung (Epic 4G) , we have been able to introduce a new member into our smartphone range. Users will be able to have a mobile fitted with various features including speed and enhanced functionality," says Omar Khan, chief strategy officer for Samsung Mobile.

  • It so seems that we were right on the money when we prophesized that Samsung Unlocked Galaxy S would end up on T Mobile as the Vibrant. The mega United States carrier enterprise has just fed us with an uncanny teaser page for the latest much anticipated Android handset. The countdown clock slowly ticks for the teaser page and it will take another two more days of patience before we are privy to some more information but I had wager that it won’t be a long shot to suggest that Vibrant might, in many a ways be much not much different from Samsung Captivate that will be arriving at AT&T soon. The handsets are primarily built on the Galaxy S line which would imply that T-Mobile devotees will soon have a dangerous handset to take pride in.

The Vibrant should sport a 4-inch Super AMOLED display and take my words on it; these things will just blow you away. We had a chance encounter when we had a rare opportunity to play with this amazing display at CTIA and the colors are lively, vibrant and bright and it has a definite “wow” factor when you place your eye on it. This and the Retina Display by Apple will be vying for the top spot as they go head to head over the following few years for the title of  the classiest unlocked  smartphone display.

As the speculations spurn, a few days from the go, the T-Mobile smartphone should also be boasting the rather efficient 1 GHz Hummingbird processor manufactured by Samsung. The processor is supposedly stronger and more resolute than Snapdragon on the basis of graphics horsepower and as several tests and experiments reveal, it can produce thrice the graphical output as the iPhone 3GS.

The Vibrant should be supported by Android 2.1 as Samsung will in all possibilities be layering on its S Life UI. I wouldn’t be completely swept off my feet if T-Mobile resorts to some exclusive software flicks like the one similar to myTouch 3G Slide. And most probably we will witness Unlocked Motorola BackFlip Android 2.2 take over the device soon. All the prolonged expectations will soon be over as we get the essential detailing in a few days, so keep it tuned to IntoMobile.
