  • Although we are not completely certain about it, it has been rumored that the Unlocked  Motorola  Milestone ( Droid 2 ) will be powered by a 1GHz processor. Well, this is not all, as apart from this Verizon Motorola Droid 2 mobile, even the Motorola Droid X will be fitted with a 1GHz processor.  So if you have the Motorola Droid X and were envious of your friends running applications super smooth on their HTC 4G, you now get to show off the same.

Earlier pictures released of this mobile stated that it would have a Texas Instruments (TI) OMAP processor, however, we have come to know that it will not be an OMAP processor but a Snapdragon processor. And not just any processor, a 1GHz processor, the very same one that powers the EVO. Although it is a little strange that this published tweet on Twitter was immediately deleted, we still managed to get all the required specifications. While the tweet suggests there will be a powerful processor for the Motorola Droid X and Droid 2, since the post was deleted, there are chances that Motorola might back down and go ahead with the initial TI OMAP processor.

Although nothing has yet been officially confirmed, Droid-Life sources state that the tweet was legitimate and both mobile devices will now support the 1GHz processor by Snapdragon.  But, again, this has not been officially confirmed. According to the tweet the Droid X designate #10 has escaped, which is a bit difficult to understand, especially if you do not know how to follow tweets.

So far, all we know about the Motorola Droid X is that it will have an astounding 8 MP camera, HDMI out and an amazing large display screen of 4.3 inches. If it also manages to get the Snapdragon processor, you can be certain this would be the mobile users would want to get their hands on.

  • With the launch of the new movie The A-Team, many avid moviegoers are queuing up outside movie theatres in the hopes of being able to catch the movie. No longer will you have to wait in line for the movie as you will now be able to play with all your favorite characters of The A-Team on your mobile phone.  A mobile version game of the movie is being released by RealNetworks-owned GameHouseaaaa in association with Fox Digital Entertainment. Most North American carriers will have this game available for download in a few weeks. It has also been announced that there would be a separate iPhone version of The A-Team game. While you can be sure that the IPhone  version of the game would be much better, the Java ME version of the game is also sure to have avid mobile gamers purchasing it.

This RealNetworks game will see players of the game having the ability of joining forces together with former Special Forces commandos B.A., Face, Hannibal and Murdock on an adventure that is said to be extremely explosive. In all, gamers have to get through 15 levels of the game (the unlocked iPhone 4 will have an additional 5 levels), that span different environments such as forest, jungle, desert as well as mercenary strongholds. As a player you will be able to either use the whole The A-Team as one, or you can decide to make use of each character’s individual ability. You will have the ability of attacking and ambushing enemy units from helicopters, with hand grenades, head on or through hand to hand combat. In simple words, the game will be quite similar to the actual movie plot that involves daring mission rescues of former Special Forces soldiers that are set up for a crime they never committed.  With their unique talents, they try to clear their names and uncover the real criminal.

  • According to reports, the myTouch 3G Slide  phone has now been completely rooted by hacker eugene373. If you have the myTouch 3G Slide but wanted to be able to have access to a host of features, look no further as all that is required is for you to be able to root your device.  However, this process is not for the faint hearted as it can be a bit complex to handle, unless you follow the instructions well. In order to be able to root the myTouch 3G Slide , the most important thing you need to do is to make sure that you download the Slide Root file that should then be placed in the SDK directory. To do this, use command prompt and point it to the SDK/Tool Directory after which you should hold down the power button and the volume down button so as to power on the myTouch 3G Slide.

From command prompt type in ‘Loop’ and once you are given the menu choice, select ‘recovery’. Once the device has finished loading, there will be an additional icon ‘Offline Device’. Next what you have to do is to remove the USB attachment cable for the Slide and reattach it once again. Do not ignore this step as it is very important!! Finally choose ‘Update.zip’ and you should get a message saying that it has failed. Next push slideroot.zip by making use of the Android Debug Bridge and before you can press update, key in ‘command ready’ in command prompt. Next hit update and once you do so, you should be capable of pushing the file completely over. Once you have been successful in pushing the update.zip over, you should now be looking at ClockworkMod recovery. Using your keys navigate to the partitions menu so that you will be able to mount the system back again. To finish the rooting of the myTouch 3G Slide, simply hit the ‘back’ button to then choose the root zip file.

Once you have rebooted your unlocked smartphone, you will be able to do whatever you want.

  • Apple iPhone 4 pre-order guide
Posted on June 17, 2010 by Pure Mobile

With the expectant news that the Unlocked  IPhone 4 is soon to be released across the country, buyers are everywhere queuing up to be the first ones to be able to get their hands on this phone. In case you are one such buyer and are planning on getting your hands on the iPhone 4, you will be happy to know that there is a pre-order guide that has been published by AT&T. While the iPhone 4 is set to be launched on June 24th, pre-orders are under way.

Although not much has been stated in this pre-guide, one rule that stands out from the rest is that each customer will only be able to purchase one iPhone. In fact, according to AT&T, only one iPhone 4 will be permitted perhousehold. While there might be some that are disheartened by this, it has most probably been done so as to help Apple cope with the immense demand that will soon follow the launching of for the iPhone 4. Apple is expecting a minimum of 1 million units sold at opening weekend.

We also know that the iPhone 4 will be available in various locations around the country such as Walmart, Best Buy as well as Radio Shack, it has still not be clarified as to whether one would be able to make pre order sales from them. While it was previously stated the Best Buy would allow such pre sales, reports suggest otherwise. There are also other reports coming in suggesting that Apple is preventing any pre orders from stores other than the Apple store, which means you would have to visit your Apple store to get your hands on the iPhone 4.

On the bright side, users are being encouraged by AT&T to have the IPhone 4 Unlocked Gadget shipped directly to their offices or homes so as to avoid activation directly from AT&T. this has been mainly done so as to quell the rush that is expected at the Apple stores. But you can be rest assured that this is in no way going to reduce the number of customers expected to visit the Apple stores around the country to get their hands on the iPhone 4.

  • It has now been revealed that a Sprint employee who leaked sales information of the Unlocked HTC (EVO 4G ) has been fired. The employee, whose name has not been released, disclosed information regarding sales of the HTC EVO 4G on the XDA-Developers forum. However, the information that was released turned out to be fake and so it is safe to assume that the employee is now regretting what he did.

While the actual number of units sold on the first two days was 66,483, Sprint had released a statement stating that sales of the HTC EVO 4G had resulted in record breaking numbers. In fact, it was claimed that the number of phones sold was so great that most stock supplies had sold out.  However, a later retraction by Sprint stated that the total number of HTC EVO 4G phones sold was on par with those of the Samsung Instinct, and Palm Pre combined and not greater.

While it is anyone’s guess as to why Sprint might have fired the employee, here is one guess. The number of 66,483 is well, quite unflattering and as such it might only include the sales from the actual Sprint stores and not fromother retail stores such as Radio Shack, walmart or Best Buy. In other words, there are chances that there would be a much higher sales figure, had such success also been included in the final sales total. But since the employee had already published the figures, it reflected quite poorly on Sprint and after tracking him down, Sprint must have let him go.

Sprint managed to find the employee located in Florida and sent a member of their taskforce to personally let him know that he was being let off. However, according to us, Sprint went through all this trouble mainly on account of the fact that they thought they would have sold many more products. Do you think, if Sprint managed to sell 300,000 HTC Unlocked ( EVO 4G ) mobiles they would have gone through such trouble.

  • According to the recent fillings of the FCC, another Garminfone/nuvifone is being released by Garmin-Asus. These recent filings show that there is a requirement for 850 / 1900 MHz which suggests that AT&T might be used as its carrier. While the Garminfone was launched by T-Mobile recently, it is quite difficult to see what exactly the marketing strategy of Garmin-Asus is, as the rights to the nuvifone might be exclusively given to AT&T or Garmin-Asus might have permanently switched over to Garminfone. Nothing will be certain till the E600 launches out.

Irrespective of what the probable marketing situation might be, chances are that Garmin-Asus will once again make use of Android, more so since the effective uninspiring launch of the G60 on AT&T. The G60 made use of simple Linux; however, the Android is stated to be released on all Garmin-Asus navigation centric mobile phones. As there is still no public announcement made by Garmin-Asus regarding the features of the new phone, one will have to wait and watch to see whether the E600 will be an improvement over T-Mobile’s handset.

As a means of gaining as much support as possible in North America, Garmin-Asus introduced the nuvifone G60 on AT&T. However, since sales of the G60 were not as per as estimated, Garmin-Asus quickly rolled out the Garminfone on T-Mobile. Although not certain, we speculated that the nuvifone brand name is being exclusively owned by AT&T, why else would Garmin-Asus not use this branding anywhere else in the market. In fact, all phones manufactured by ASUS go through the very same joint venture of Garmin-Asus. Hence, it was no surprise to find that with the release of the FCC filings, a new nuvifone was on the horizon. The new E600, PDA Phone, is set to be launched in the 850 / 1900 MHz spectrum which leads us to believe that AT&T will be the most obvious carrier. If not AT&T, another carrier from the north would be the best bet.

  • Today, a new step forward was taken by Verizon Wireless in overcoming communications barriers as has just introduced its new Group Communication, whereby different groups can be used as a means of communication. Verizon Wireless plans on bringing together family, friends or others together through the use of groups. Through this tool, it becomes possible for 20 people to talk together over voice calls, text or voice message. Currently being offered in two different versions by Verizon Wireless viz. the Family Group Contact and Group Contact, this tool is expected to benefit thousands of users of Verizon Wireless.

Through the use of The Family Group Contact, a 1-800 phone number will be provided that will automatically connect up to 20 people when called. Irrespective of the account you currently have, you can add as many Verizon Wireless subscribers as you want along with one non- Verizon Wireless member. Accessible by anyone in the group, this plan costs $5 per month.

On the other hand, Group Contact is the service that is aimed at small businesses. Each organization that chooses this service will be offered 7 groups, each which can hold up to 20 lines. With this plan, small business organizations can also include wireless, wire line and international numbers. The cost of the plan is $7 per month and each organization would have its very own 1-800 phone number.

Through these two new services introduced by Verizon Wireless, users can be assured of being able to instantaneously access their accounts. For instance, any user of the Family Group Contact would be able to connect with everyone else by simply dialing 888-VZ-GROUP.  It now becomes possible to dial multiple contacts through just a single call, thereby allowing you to stay in touch with hard to reach contacts. You now have the ability of staying in contact with members beyond just your account. Landline as well as all domestic numbers are also supported.

  • Chances are that you have heard of video recording at 720p, in fact you might even have a unlocked phone that supports this. But have you heard of a camera that can record at 1080p? While you might think such technology does not exist, OmniVision is out to prove you wrong with its recently introduced mobile video recording capabilities. This state of the art system-on-a-chip 5MP camera consists of CMOS sensors that can record at 30 frames per second. According to OmniVision, if you decide to record at 720p, video is record at 60frames per second. Apart from the wonders of the camera, there are also many other functionalities of the OV5640 such as the ability of image stabilization and autofocus. With dimensions of 8.5mm x 8.5mm x 5mm, you can be sure that you will have in your hands one of the thinnest mobiles around. Scheduled for mass production in the second half of 2010, the OV5640 is certain to turn heads.

The 5 MP camera of OmniVision makes use of a single chip, thereby making it much easier to tune as compared to two chip solutions. At the same time, not only can it be easily platform integrated, but it is also much cheaper in terms of cost to users.  Since the sensor is embedded with AF controls using a voice coil, end customers can expect greater cost savings. In short, the OV5640 is an extremely viable option that offers much greater pixel resolution of other 5MP cameras currently available in the market. In fact the SOC sensor also benefits handset manufacturers as they can devise extremely low cost solutions.

Since analysts have predicted that by the end of 2012 nearly 40% of all unlocked mobile phones in the market would make use of 5MP cameras, there is increased pressure on such cameras to offer much better pixel quality. This is what OmniVision has been able to achieve with constituency
