Moshi for iPad
  • By Megan Fleet

On a personal note, my mother is a literature junkie. So, it is no surprise that on their cross country jaunts to visit over the holidays she loads up her smartphone with audio book downloads before hitting the road. As we discussed my newest iPad 2 tablet acquisition and simultaneously recounted the wonderful rendition of Austenland, she insisted I download the audio book app and log in under her name to download it. Just a few short minutes later, the file was available. Her response was “wow. I am seriously impressed at how fast you were able to download and store it without needing additional memory storage cards.”

Speedracer Meets Mobile Web Browsing Testing.

And, in this world of instant gratification, speed is king. Especially on our mobile browsers. So which smartphone manufacturer has the need for speed? This is an excellent question considering the varying strengths of these smartphone players. Android is the bees knees in the LTE support category. iOS has the top of the line dual-core A5 chip to tout its excellence. And, Windows Phone has the IE mobile browser that kicks it into beast mode. Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  Discover the latest innovative protection solutions... stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases specifically designed to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

This question may already be answered YouTube video posted below - which compares the Lumia 800, iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 (running on the iOS version 4.3).  Put through a gauntlet of Browsermark, Speed Reading, Sunspider, Acid 3, and HTML5 tests... you will be surprised to find which device was the hands down winner.   Experience the mind blowing clarity of XMI Speakers.  Uncompromised sound quality and a revolutionary design accentuating  today's interactive lifestyle.   Our earpieces and headsets combine sophisticated style and precision engineering that deliver brilliant sound for your total listening pleasure

It was no contest…the iPhone 4S was beyond the best performance. This is really no surprise when considering what is powering these phones. Nokia’s Lumia 800 has a single core processor which could not keep up with iPhone 4S’s dual core A5 chip. Great news for media junkies and browsers alike... as well as for book lovers like myself, worthy of buying a new pair of headphones for some superior lit listening.  Enhance your mobility and turn your device into a power tool!  Discover select accessories such as; stylus & pens, micro SD memory cards, batteries, docking stations, Bluetooth headsets, data cables and glider gloves all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

There were, however, a few instances where Window’s Phone 7’s mobile browser overpowered the Safari browser on the iPhone 4’s iOS 4.3. That matchup is a bit questionable when taking into account the older version of iOS that the device was running. The question of carrier grade 3G or 4G speeds and availability may affect this as well. This is another great point for unlocked cell phones which empower customer to break free from service provider long term contracts and negotiate a service plan that better meets their unique lifestyle needs at lower costs.

As in any kind of real world testing, the results are not are controlled or predictable, but it can still be said that Apple produces a great smartphone that appeals to the mobile browser speed fiends out there.

While the reign of carrier-dedicated smartphones is still in effect, the is a ever-growing contingent of rebel consumers wanting to liberate themselves from the typical long term high cost service contracts only offered by unlocked cell phones. Alas, with this rather feudal system still imposed on consumers, market analysts and watchdog agencies alike continue to monitor and gauge consumer spending and behavior trends what devices will be top sellers this holiday season..

iPhone 4S and Galaxy S II Dominate in Carrier Sales

Analyst Mike Walkley and his team ran the numbers - no surprise that Apple’s iPhone 4S came in as the best-selling smartphone across all carriers November. The Samsung Galaxy S II is gaining in popularity and the increase in sales reflects it. The inspired handset was November’s top-selling smartphone at T-Mobile and rocketed to take 2nd place at AT&T and Sprint. The Motorola DROID RAZR is also worth mentioning for its 2nd place showing at Verizon - this writer loves the Gorilla Glass on this handset for us clumsy smartphone owners – iPhone users must have protective cases with the very shatter-prone glass.  Data is still being compiled for the BlackBerry 9900 Bold.

To explain the continued sales strength of the iPhone 4S, Walkley explains “strength continues as distribution increases – our November checks indicated iPhone sales remained strong in the US, particularly at ATT&T and Sprint. Further, our checks indicated global share gains.” Global numbers will only grow with Apple introducing its darling to huge markets this December: China, Brazil, and Russia. Analyst also predict a strong consumer and market acceptance for tablets... in particular the Apple iPad 3G, Samasung Galaxy Tab, Motorola Xoom, HTC Jetstream with the BlackBerry PlayBook bringing up the rear.

iPhone 4S and Galaxy S II Dominate in Carrier Sales

Paired with the analyst’s report of the apple iPad2 retaining its billing of “world’s top-selling tablet,” this news is great for online retailers. Designer protective cases & bags, skins, stylus & pens, and even screen protectors are hot must-haves that the global consumer will jump on. Thanks to the world wide web and globalization, their online shopping options seriously opens up their ability to customize their devices with accessories.

Unfortunately, good news for Apple and Samsung does not translate into good news for their competitors. RIM and HTC, both who have seen their sales and product demand decrease after the iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S II launches. With negative reception of product pre-announcements by both RIM and HTC, a little rebranding, positive press and innovative accessories and technology developments are in order.

The holiday race is far from over though and the unlocked smartphone consumer market could easily help make up the difference for these lagging device manufacturers. Something we hope they keep in mind when brainstorming a comeback.

  • iphone 4sIt looks as though we finally have some sort of official confirmation regarding when users can expect the Apple’s unlocked iPhone 4 (GS) to go into production. It looks as though they will be going into production at some point in August, and then you can bet that the launch will come at some point in September. A number of analysts have already stated that they believed that this would be the path that Apple would take, given their problems with the production of other devices and the current state of the market.

The first source to report this was digitimes. This is good news for users who wanted the device to be released this summer. While it may not be released at the time that most thought that it would be, a September release is still a bit earlier than some estimates that have been thrown out there. The new device, the iPhone 4S as it will be named will have a new rear camera that will be upgraded to the eight mega pixel resolution and will also have a number of image sensors and a new lens kit built in.

    iphone 4s

Apple currently has over two million iPhone 4’s in circulation and they will be cutting back on the production of those devices soon if they are planning for the release of the next version sometime in the future. The second quarter production of the iPhone 4 was at 17.5 to 18 million units, with a current inventory of over 20 million units in total. It will certainly be interesting to see how the new iPhone performs. Some have compared this release to the release of the iPhone 3GS following the release of the iPhone 3G. Rather than a new version, it appears that it will be more of an upgrade over the previous version of the device and will address a number of key issues that users have had with the iPhone 4 unlocked since it was first released.
