Moshi for iPad
  • Do you remember the story about Apple subtly tracking every location that you have taken your smart device over the course of the last few years and storing it in a database? Of course, Apple will want to distance themselves from this story with all of the attention that it has gotten and have released an update that does not allow for the location database cache to get nearly as big, or store information forever. This was something that bothered many users who felt that Apple should have made this clear to them when they signed up for the service.

The new upgrade will be available for the unlocked iPhone 4, iPhone 4GS, iPad 2 and iPad to get rid of the cache and make sure that the users data remains safe. You had to have guessed that they would want to roll this update out sooner rather than later, with all of the attention that the story received within just a day or it breaking.

Apple has apologized for the mishap and has expressed that it was never intended to be used for malicious intent. This update is supposed to smooth the issue over with consumers. However, with the level of products that they provide you have to guess that a vast majority of users will get over it quickly now that the update is being offered for all to download.

The changes will reduce the size of the cache, and make sure that it is not continually updated when you connect your iPhone 4 unlocked to iTunes. This will certainly make many of their users happy, as the issue has been promptly addressed following the bad press.

  • After the media firestorm that engulfed them following the leaking of the information about the tracking bug that tracked the locations of their users over the lifetime of them using the device. Sources at Apple have confirmed that they are not going to wait to fix the tracking issue both on unlocked iPhone 4’s and all iOS devices, but will be releasing a new update that will do it within the next two weeks. This will be iOS version 4.3.3. It still remains to be seen if there will be any legal fallout as a result of the tracking bug that gave Apple access to the whereabouts of their users over the course of the last few years.

They probably do not want to go too long without addressing the issue for fear that it will look like they do not care about the bug in the first place. The update will no longer send the locations of their users to iTunes, where the information was sent before. The location database will also be reduced by quite a bit to ensure that user locations are not tracked for all that long. It will also be deleted entirely when the location services for the phone are turned off.

This issue should also make for minor adjustments in the battery life of the phone, improving the battery life slightly because your unlocked iPhone 4 is not constantly storing information. The update will also fix some of the iPod bugs that have been around in recent years. You can bet that other things will also be included in the update, but Apple will save that announcement for a later date, closer to the actual release of the update. It is good to see that Apple is quickly addressing this issue.

  • BlackBerry will be launching their BlackBerry PlayBook on the 19th of April, and those who have been anxiously awaiting the tablet can breathe a sigh of relief because it looks as though Research In Motion themselves will be handling customer support for the popular tablet, much in the same way that Apple does with their devices like unlocked iPhone 4. Most of the time Research In Motion works with the carriers that sell products to get through the customer support, but are likely looking for the BlackBerry PlayBook to be a much more personal experience.

Usually, you can only get ah old of Research In Motion after you have gone through the proper carrier channels. The Wi-Fi PlayBook will be available to users at a number of different retail outlets. This is the first time that Research In Motion will serve as the first official contact point for users who are experiencing trouble with their devices.

The company is looking to implement an “Apple Care” style of support that will allow users to go directly through them. The only downside is that they lack the number of retail locations that Apple does, which could make it a little more difficult for users to get the support that they are looking for.

They will offer complimentary support for the first 90 days that the tablet will be released, and will also offer a limited warranty for every device and a BlackBerry Total Care program that will allow users to receive care for their device for as long as they are willing to pay for it once the limited warranty plan has ended. There are many different options available to people that are looking at purchasing the PlayBook and were hoping for more support. RIM is a renowned company, and new users should be excited to see if they are able to live up to their name in terms of support.

PureMobile carries a wide range unlocked BlackBerry cell phone accessories and unlocked BlackBerry  cell phones like unlocked BlackBerry Bold 9780, BlackBerry Curve 9300, etc.

  • New Sprint Music Service
Posted on April 14, 2011 by Pure Mobile

Spring is going to be launching a new music services for unlocked cell phone customers of their Sprint Music Plus service. The entire operation will be powered by Real Networks and will allow users to purchase MP3 songs for just $0.69. These songs can then be used as ringtones. The app is currently available for Sprint phones with the Sprint Zone application, and is also available on a number of BlackBerry devices as well.

Devices that were first released before May 2010 will only have access to ringtones and ringback tones through their Sprint Music Plus service. Users will be able to save on each individual ringtone and song when they bundle them together in packs.

All of the purchases that are made through the music system will appear on the Sprint wireless bill. The company released a press release about the potential service earlier in the day to lay out a few of the more interesting features that will be seen with their new service.

To start, users will be able to create particular playlists of different songs, and will be able to specify tones for different callers in your contacts list.

The service will also allow you to search for music by specific artists, or by the generic or through the playlists on your music library manager. This allows you to preview content and also receive recommendations based on the music that you have downloaded and purchased thus far.

It will certainly be interesting to see how well this new service takes off for Sprint. They are likely looking to compete directly with iTunes and Apple iphone 4 unlocked with this new service. The ability for them to market the music directly to their current users should help them to be able to take off.

  • Atari Releases Greatest Hits on iOS
Posted on April 11, 2011 by Pure Mobile

Have you ever wanted to play your old favorite Atari games on your smart phone? There have been some titles that have been released that have been successfully ported or copied, but nothing quite like the recent release by Atari for iOS device such as unlocked iphone 4 and ipad. The company is releasing their top 100 greatest hits for all to feast upon. The collection is quite impressive, and should garner quite a bit of attention.

They will also be releasing their iCade cabinet in June, which will turn the iPad into a virtual arcade console and should become pretty popular. Some of the titles that will be added to the collection that is being released by Atari.

The new release will include 18 classic games that were released during the early days of gaming. The other games will come from their consoles. The app and all 100 games for cell phone will only cost $14.99. While that does seem expensive for an app, but with all of the content that they are delivering it is actually quite a good deal.

Look at it as four different $0.99 packs of 25 games, if you are looking for a way to justify the price. Atari has made some of the most recognizable games over the years including the ultra popular Pong, 3d Tic Tac Toe, and Warlords.

Atari is one of the top gaming companies of all time, and the fact that they are releasing such an interesting pack of games should draw a lot of attention. The response from middle aged gamers should be ridiculous, and will allow for younger gamers to really take a look at older games that they never got a chance to play throughout their childhood. Watch for these Atari games to continually garner a lot of attention from media sources as a result of this fantastic release.

  • The musical team Bluebrain has developed an application that makes their new album location aware. The new album will dictate where you can listen to the music, the song that it will be playing, and when it will be playing them. The new album is titled “The National Mall” is was created to provide the perfect backdrop for wherever you are at any given time.

The album will use phones GPS to track where you are. They have hundreds of tagged zones that allow you to play certain songs when you are in the given zone. It will be the first location aware album that has ever been released, and will be available on iOS device such as iphone 4 unlocked and ipad.

At the very least, it is a very interesting take on how to make an album in an industry that has really taken a hit due to Internet privacy. Are you looking to hear a certain melody that corresponds with the area that you are in? Take a walk and go to a different monument to hear different songs.

Their hope is that the album will become the official soundtrack for tours of the area. Soem have suggested that because you can not listen to every track whenever you want, that the app and album will not sell all that well. Their new idea has been heavily covered by media sources and should be one of the quickest growing apps from BlueBrain, a group that has become renowned for their ability to compose great landscape dependent sound scapes.

At the very least, you might want to give it a look. If you like the music and are in the DC area, BlueBrain offers great sounds that truly will give you the perfect music for any given monument that you are at.

  • Are you a part of the jailbreaking community? Although Apple has tried their best to put an end to jailbreaking devices, a new jailbreak has surfaced for iOS 4.3.1 device such as ipad and iphone4 unlocked that will make that community happy. Up until now, the jailbreak has not been ideal because it would be undone anytime that handset was reset or turned off. This pretty much made it not worth the time of the user, but now it appears that a new jailbreak method may fix this problem.

The new tool, titled redsn0w, will be able to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 devices, and they will remain jailbroken even after they have been shut off. Of course, as with any jailbreak or hack, you have to use it at your own risk. This practice is not condoned by Apple, and they will refuse to support you with any issues that come as a result of a jailbreak.

Make sure that you know what you are doing and have read enough information on the subject before attempting the jail break - especially if your phone is not currently under warranty. Make sure that if you attempt to unlock your handset to use with another carrier that you are not using 4.3.1, because there are no jailbreaks for that device that are working at this current time.

There is already quite a number of articles that are out there and will help you to quickly and conveniently jailbreak your iOS 4.3.1 device like unlocked iphone 4, ipad and ipod. So make sure to read through them before making any serious attempts. It is in your best interest to be more cautious, especially since this jailbreak was just released and the ramifications and issues with it are not currently clear that this time. Also, look for user testimonials for your specific model of device before moving forward so that you can better troubleshoot any issues that you may have.

  • Google usually remains fairly tight lipped regarding the stats of their various applications. However, the Google VP, Marissa Mayer recently announced that the map service provided by the company now has more than 150 million users in total. That number is more than half of the people in the United States, and easily makes Google Maps one of the most used applications across the globe.

The service has taken users on routes that total more than 12 billion miles per year. The latest build also allows users to use free GPS technology that previously would have required that users pay quite a bit of money for.

When asked about how she felt about Google Maps for the unlocked iPhone 4 platform, she said that the company was looking for ways to roll new updates out to a broader audience, and said that it was something that they were considering and debating currently. This was a hint that the company has an app in the works that would allow users to use the google Maps app for the iPhone in the same way that they would use their current GPS device.

Until iOS 5 makes its debut, I would not hold your breath on the possiblity of the app making tis way to the iPhone 4 unlocked any time soon. Apple has notoriously held Google products back in their app store, mostly because both companies are competing entities, and they appear to be taking their sweet time in reviewing the newest Google updates to their Maps application. With more than 150 million uses, you would think that Apple would be more than willing to roll out the new software, but then again they don’t want to grant anything to Google that they are not forced to. It will be interesting to see if these stats updates change the companies opinion of the Google company.

  • It looks like Samsung is not completely done with their Galaxy S line of phones. The company recently had a table leaked that shows that they are planning on releasing a phone with a 1.4 GHz processor in European markets. The phone has been one of the few that is considered to be a direct competitor for the unlocked iPhone 4.

The information came from a comparison sheet that showed off the new version of the device. The new device looks just like last years original, and is going to be sold for somewhere around $846 around Russia.

Shortly after the information was leaked Samsung came forward to confirm the news about the new phone. It appears as if they decided that instead of having rumors and untrue information floating around the net like wildfire, that they would confirm the phone themselves and start promoting it.

This is very exciting news for users of the Galaxy S line. It is easily their most popular line of smart phones and they have been continually able to find ways to update old devices with new features that keep the users coming - especially when they already have a hit on their hands with the device.

Although the price is quite steep, the additions to the phone show that the company has put some real thought into improving the speed of the device. The Samsung Galaxy S unlocked will be branded as the “2011 Edition” of the device. So far the company has not released any commercial branding for the device. They have yet to announce when they will be releasing the phone in other markets outside of Russia, but with the popularity the phone has already garnered, you have to believe that they are going to look at releasing it elsewhere as well. Russia rarely receives devices first, but this current release of information shows that this case may be an exception to the rule.

  • Twitter Ends Ad Program
Posted on April 1, 2011 by Pure Mobile

A recent Google ad program that received a lot of attention has finally been ended by Twitter after a huge back lash took place after the launch of the product. The new ad system, titled Quickbar, but aptly named “#Dickbar” by Twitter users was quickly shut down by Twitter after receiving a lot of negative press and attention. The new bar only inserted ads into the stream of iPad and unlocked iPhone 4 users. Twitter was looking to put the ads up weeks ago, but thanks to internal testing they had been unable to get things launched as quickly as they would have liked.

Some sources have stated that the “dickbar” was a mistake from the very beginning. The idea had been put together by a junior project manager and had not been approved by a leading executive at the company when it went live. Pinning the bar at the top of the app may not have been the best idea for the young junior manager, as the backlash resulted in a lot of bad press for the company.

This move shows that twitter has not fully decided how they are going to be monetizing their service. Many users are going to be happy with the ad bar being removed from their app on their Apple iphone 4 unlocked. Now one has to question whether or not Twitter knows what they are doing in terms of magnetization. They have always had trouble finding ways to insert ads without insulting their uses, and this is yet another example of a failed magnetization attempt for the company.
