  • Ever since the iPhone security bug that was transmitting location of your iPhone 4, several other handsets have had the same issues. Enter into the market a few HTC Android devices that have a similar problem to the iPhone but also goes a step further. It has been reported that there are several security flaws in some pre-installed software that HTC has been including with their Sensation and EVO 3D. There is a silent logging that allows for the following potentially dangerous activities:

Security Flaw in Several HTC Android devices

    SMS Data and Numbers

Don’t expect any privacy if you have the unlocked HTC Sensation or the EVO 3D. All your SMS Data and phone numbers are being tracked. They say it is on an anonymous level never having access to the specific names.

    Phone Logs

Every call you make or receive is also being logged. No longer will wiping your history clear you phone. The information is being transmitted to the logging software that records all the activity.

    GPS Location

Similar to the Apple unlocked iPhone 4 bug, the location of your phone is always being tracked by GPS and mapping out where it has been since you got the phone. Again this may be on an anonymous level but still important to note.

    More than Just HTC

Security Flaw in Several HTC Android devicesThe troubling aspect of this security bug is that the information is not limited to HTC. Malicious app developers or curious ones can integrate a feature into the application to tap into your breached data and perhaps using it in ways that are less than ok. There have been no reports of malicious use but be aware that it is possible. The only way to rid yourself of this security flaw is to Root your phone which is not a simple thing that anyone can do.

HTC has commented on the issue and said that they are trying to resolve the issue in a timely manner. Since the vulnerability has been around for months we expect this issue to be resolves ASAP. There is no telling how many users are affected and the process that will be involved to have the issue fixed.

  • Unlocked HTC phone has announced the HTC Evo Shift 4G in an attempt to build upon the popularity of the EVO 4G phone that was released during the summer of 2010. Although the Evo Shift 4G will not be as feature loaded as the Evo 4G, the company placed upgrades in all of the right places to ensure that they were able to deliver a superior product to their users. The release shouldn’t be the media extravaganza that the Evo 4G was, but will still garner a lot of attention.

The phone will feature an 800 MGz Qualcomm CPU. This is the same processor that is found in other popular phones including the G2 and My Touch. The screen is a bit smaller than most would expect at 3.6 inches, but offers a beautiful 800 x 480 LCD screen that delivers beautiful images. The device will run on the Android 2.2 operating system, which has easily been the most popular among the new announcements at the Consumer Electronic Show this year.

The Shift 4G will utilize WiMAX 4G to run smoothly on Sprints network, and should be among the fastest phones that HTC has to offer. The design of the phone is fairly thick and has been compared to the Unlocked Motorola  Droid 2, recently released by Verizon. The keyboard as a great feels to it and is very easy to use.

It is powerful enough to handle Android 2.2 without any issues and runs smooth from one screen to another. We have noticed no lag when moving between apps and screens and the current loading time when you start the phone is 43 seconds.

The Evo Shift 4G will be one of the best phones that HTC has to offer this year, and is a marked upgrade over previous versions of the phone. It will be interesting to see how well the phone is received by current users of the Shift. HTC made changes in all of the right areas to bring users an upgraded experience with a solid cell device.

PureMobile carries wide range of cell phone accessories and unlocked phone such as HTC Desire, HTC HD7 unlocked, HTC Maple, etc..

  • HTC unlocked phones has made another mammoth announcement, just in time for the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show. The HTC EVO 4G will be receiving another model of the phone, and this time on a completely new carrier. The phone will feature a 4.3 inch touch screen display and will be called the Inspire 4G, running on a 4G network provided by AT&T.

The announcement comes just days before the Consumer Electronics Show. Many companies have opted to make their announcements prior to the show to build anticipation for the booths and event that will take place at the show. Along with the excellent LCD display, the phone will also offer an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 1 GHZ CPU that should enable it to run just about any app available. It will also utilize the Android 2.2 operating system that features HTC’s customized Sense UI, which allows users to use a “Find my Phone” feature that is very similar to the feature that was recently released by Apple for their unlocked iPhone 4.

HTC continues to impress in the days leading up to the Consumer Electronics Show, and has made a number of huge announcements including the development of their own tablet device.

It will be interesting to see how much hype this announcement receives, especially considering that the phone has already been released. The upgraded features should draw a few new users over to the phone, but the fact that it will be released on a new carrier with 4G capabilities is undoubtedly the biggest draw of the device.

The Inspire 4G is a huge upgrade for a device that has already been immensely popular throughout its history. HTC might be the underdog in the saturated mobile market, but they continue to impress with wonderful deals and excellent devices that push the ever expanding envelope for the company.

  • The HTC Evo Shift 4G is a device that has been highly anticipated by fans of the manufacturer. The device will be released on several different carriers under a variety of names including the HTC Knight and HTC Speedy, and with the release of a number of  cell phone accessories shots last week, it appears as though we can start to brace ourselves for the release of the device.

The images that were released last week show a number of different features of the phone. First of all, it will have a four-line QWERTY keypad for speedier texting. The second image that was released also showed the phone in a protective case. The case does appear to add a lot to the size of the phone but the fact that the phone will feature a QWERTY keyboard has already ensured that it will be more hefty than the previous EVO 4G.

Following the release of the photos a rumored release date for the phone also made its way online; January 9th. Early estimates for the release of the phone stated that it would be released on January 6th, and the switch to a 9th release would match up with the previous Sunday launches that HTC has unveiled.

The addition of the slide out QWERTY keyboard is something that will make the device much more viable for business, or simply for those of us that prefer the keypad over a touch screen. This version of the phone will have a smaller display, at 3.7 inches, than the HTC Evo 4G that was released by Sprint. The HTC Evo Shift 4G will reportedly come standard with Android 2.2, but could potentially even see 2.3 following the announcement of 2.3 Gingerbread. All of the details regarding the unlocked cell phone should be seen as speculative at this point, but it is clear that we are inching ever-closer to the release of this highly anticipated phone.

  • Spirit and its manufactures were in the doldrums with falling profits, bleeding subscribers to Apple’s unlocked Iphone4 but it has changed quite a bit since the inclusion of the Sprint HTC EVO 4G. Spirit’s run at the markets and the smartphone industry seemed to be in tatters and their business almost to a dead end but for the latest HTC EVO 4G. Spirit had previously tried to fight its arch enemy, its nemesis Apple through various means, for example the device like the Palm Pre (which by the way was a total failure). Apple and its iPhone and their improved versions seemed just too hot to handle. But this new Android by Spirit has seemingly breathed life to the company. Sprint added 111,000 net customers for the second quarter of 2010.

The smartphone Sprint HTC EVO 4G has been clearly making waves. It’s been rumoured to become one of the best, if not, the best smartphone of its times. Though it has been selling like hot cakes, yet at times the HTC EVO 4G is difficult to acquire from the stores

Spirit was reportedly at a loss of $760 million in its first quarter of the year and it had lost around 22800 subscribers. Spirit has now a total of 48.2 million subscribers. Though the company was on the downhill it seems their latest adventure in the form of Sprint HTC EVO 4G did pay off and it managed to keep the losses to a bare minimum.

It seems good times lie ahead for this company. There had been frequent complaints by customers about their notorious customers service and their imperfectness, but now with the surge in profits the company has seen a dramatic change in its personnel. This year in the last quarter the company was reported to having its best-ever contract churn rate of 1.85%.

  • Well if you are looking to get into the Android market for smartphones this summer, then you are up for some hard competition as two major mobile phones which are coming into the market. Both these phones are set to be Android OS super smart phones and have specs which are to die for. The smartphones that we are talking about here are the Unlocked Motorola Droid (X) from Verizon and the HTC EVO 4G which will be carried by Sprint. As we said, both these phones have great common features of the nature of a 1 GHz processor and HDMI output along with 8 megapixel camera which are just some of the basic specs that we are talking about. Let’s look at the features of these two phones more in depth.

In terms of the operations, both are pretty equally matched and have full HD output in 720p onto any kind of monitor. There are however some differences in the features of these phones which are pretty noteworthy. In terms of the home keys and the sheer size, the Droid X is a bigger phone. Although thinner, this phone is taller than its competitor. Furthermore, the EVO uses touch sensitive home keys which are in stark contrast to the rather flimsy buttons on the Droid X’s interface. Furthermore both phones have a cushioned touch but EVO feels rather spongy. Both the phones have the Android 2.1 OS but they have much contrasting UI. The Droid X on the Verizon features the new Motorola Unlocked ( MotoBlur) UI while the EVO has the very popular Sense UI. There are certain apps which work differently on both the phones.

Other than this, the dialer on the EVO 4G is more user friendly as compared to the Droid which does not offer the contact guessing feature.

  • HTC has seemingly taken up their fight in the mobile phone market where so far major players like Unlocked Motorola Phones and Samsung have a free reign. After a series of new phones from the latter two, there are some more specs of the soon to be released Unlocked HTC ( Ace ) and Sabor which has come to our attention. What we see here is really amazing and encouragingly, but we feel that the specs can be produced by the next year, latest. The Sabor alongside the Ace forms a duo of two phones which are said to be the supped up versions of the EVO. The Sabor is supposed to be the EVO 2 for the Sprint and the Ace is said to be the GSM version of the EVO.

As far as specifications go, what we are certain of is that the Ace has been slated for release with the Android 3.0 or the Gingerbread which is however, still a distant dream. Other than that, there is the new super AMOLED screen and 1.5 GHz processor which will make this phone smooth to operate. There is also an 8 GB camera and a 1.5 megapixel camera in the front. In terms of process speeds, the figure of 1.5 GHz is pretty believable as the specs of 2 GHz are also being talked about. However, the only thing lacking in this phone is the Sense UI which makes for a rather good looking device. With this, one could have designed custom skins and got the phone to look the way they wanted. Sadly, Ace from HTC does not carry Sense.

As we said earlier, the Ace is the GSM version of the HTC Unlocked (  EVO ) Handset and the upgrade on this phone is pretty good but not revolutionary. Keep your eyes on this to know more.

  • Unlocked HTC ( EVO 4G ) can soon be available for you at an amazing price of $149.99. The company does provide an initial $100 Best Buy rebate which makes this phone available to you for a price of $199. However it has come to our attention that Sprint is secretly offering the customers who are willing to deal with a mail-in discount. This gives the buyer a rebate of $50. Therefore, one can get this phone at an amazingly low rate of $149.99.

In terms of features, this phone is definitely well loaded. It boasts of

    • 4.3 inch touch screen
    • A really nice 8 GB camera with dual LED flash
    • 1 GHz Snapdragon processor
    • Wi-Fi, 4G connectivity and the novelty of a kickstand for watching movies on the mobile phone.
    • Plus it works on the Android 2.1 OS like Google Unlocked  Nexus One and has the HTC Sense UI skin.

However availing of this discount, does require some amount of maneuvering on the part of the customer. Once you can get this discount, the hottest Sprint mobile phone could be yours.

Follow these steps to get the discount that you are looking for-

    • Apply for the phone by using the option which says “buy with new plan”. By this, you can get yourselves on their logs
    • Then you cancel your order. What will happen is that Sprint will mail you, offering you an additional $50 discount hoping that you change your mind. This additional $50 discount is compounded upon the mail in discount of $100.

Do not fear, this is completely genuine as Sprint is offering the rebate which makes this phone available at this incredible price. This is really cool and we here really like this as it definitely will swing a lot of consumers who would otherwise not have gone for the HTC EVO 4G.

  • Sprint customers are largely lagging in getting the updates onto their Unlocked HTC Hero and EVO 4G which uses Sense User Interface. Even the most popular of the Sprint handset, the Samsung Moment, is really slow on getting the Android Updates. This is quite detrimental for Sprint users in the United States as unlike other carrier subscribers; they have to wait quite a long time for a release.

However Sprint, through their blog have told us that since the HTC EVO 4G has sold really well and has been well received by the customers across the board, Sprint will be doing its best to get Android updates to their phones such that their customers can be at the helm on telephone technology. There is further good news for the customers is that the new software which will be released as Android 2.2 on the HTC EVO 4G in the form of an upgrade on this phone.

Android 2.2, or what is known as Froyo, will bring in a lot of longevity to the HTC Unlocked ( EVO ) phones which otherwise have a really poor battery performance. With the Android 2.2 there is also the possibility of full flash support for the EVO 4G and hence one can get the updates for the Sense UI. It has also been reported that the Froyo enables the EVO 4G to deliver a higher performance for the customer.

Although it has already been a really long time, one can only welcome the plans for the update to the Motorola Unlocked Milestone Android 2.2. However, tactful reactions are the order of the day as ‘near future’ can be a matter of months for companies like this. Yet, according to the recent rumors which have been around regarding the EVO 4G, one can really hope for a faster launch of the Android 2.2.

  • Even though most people are already delighted with the recently launched Unlocked HTC ( EVO 4G ) network, this has not stopped the carrier from already announcing plans to unveil another 4G phone next year. This phone is stated to be the Samsung Galaxy S Pro that will also have the ability of utilizing WiMax services. Set to be the second 4G carrier for Sprint, the Samsung Galaxy S Pro is packed with a neat set of features.

Similar to the Galaxy S, the Pro version will also have a QWERTY keyboard and a similar Super AMOLED display screen. Although nothing is certain as yet, it has been stated that the 4G Samsung Galaxy S Pro will have a 4 inch screen together with a 1 GHz processor and 5 MP camera that is equipped with an LED flash. Running 512 MB of RAM and Google’s android operating system, you can be certain that there will be numerous features attached to this handset. Codenamed Hummingbird, reports suggest that the processor of the 4G Samsung Galaxy S Pro should give three times the triangles per second of an iPhone 3GS. This is definitely something that gamers are going to love.

It also makes a lot of sense for Sprint to go about carrying the 4G Samsung unlocked  Galaxy S ( Pro )    as it will not jeopardize any sales of the EVO due to its full QWERTY keyboard. However, we also hope that the Galaxy S Pro has a much better battery life as compared to the EVO. Although Sprint is the only carrier in the United States with a 4G phone, many other networks, such as Verizon, are also planning on rolling out 4G services. In fact, Verizon has planned to release a minimum of five handsets next year compatible with 4G networks.

Frankly speaking, we are about to see an entire fleet of phones released soon that would be 4G compatible.
