Get excited iBooks users! The iOS jailbreak known as Corona that was released last month for the iPhone4S and iPad is now updated to support Apple’s e-reader, iBooks. Be sure to get your updates though, as it is the build for version iOS 5.0.1.

But what does this new jailbreak upgrade mean for your Apple experience? While not as gratifying as playing with a new acquisition from the phenomenal family of accessories for each of the tablet, iPod media device and smartphones that will be covered by this new software update, it could address some of the issues occurring during browsing sessions on these same devices.

Because if you have experienced the launcher crashing on occasion, it is this upgrade that will doctor it up. There are some other bugs that will be fixed as well, but the addressed launcher is the biggie (for the really technical of you out there, the build is also included in redsn0w 0.9.10b4). So, with this update you need not fear having to remove your favorite Apple handset or tablet from its cozy protective case to play tech detective.

For those of you who already have jailbroken iPhone4 or iPad devices, Corona can be found and run through the Cydia store. Another option is downloading the updated OS X for Windows version (redsn0w) which will have the same impact.

And if you do not yet possess this untethered jailbreak, you can find more information on compatibility for iPhone 3GS, iPhone4, the first generation iPad, iPod Touch 3G and the iPod Touch 4G. Clearly this development team has been hard at work to bring this jailbreak technology to Apple’s various device offerings of smartphones, tablets and media players. Now, if we can keep that open concept movement to empower customers at other levels of purchasing and freedom of customization, amazing innovation is in the works.

Are Carriers Prepared?

When the iPhone 4S was released, there were a fair number of naysayers out there questioning if this latest Apple smartphone would make the kind of mark its past devices have. Sure it has Siri and some other upgrades, but it looks similar. It fits the same protective case accessories and docking stations and the like, so many were speculative of the impact this one would make. According to a recent research by Arieso, this latest generation iPhone is definitely having an impact.

How? Data is showing that iPhone 4S consumers use practically twice the amount of data as its predecessor, the iPhone 4. Throw in the statistic of these hyper-users consuming more than 3 times the data of the original iPad 3G and jaws start to drop. Even Arieso’s chief technical officer, Michael Flanagan marveled “the data usage numbers I am seeing make me wonder what I am missing.”

The likely culprit is Siri. Michael Flanagan and other iPhone 4 users are bereft of the virtual assistant’s powers that aid in searching which (although not stated in the report) is the obvious suspect for the increased data consumption.  Enhance your mobility and turn your device into a power tool!  Discover select accessories such as; stylus & pens, micro SD memory cards, batteries, docking stations, Bluetooth headsets, data cables and glider gloves all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

Also striking is Arieso’s reporting that it is a mere 1% of data users consuming half of all downlink data. Flanagan did need to note, “while the report provides general trends, the studies on which they’re based demonstrate the importance to operators of understanding the increased consumption each type of smartphone brings.” But are carriers listening? Data usage will only continue to increase as tablets and smartphones become more prevalent, but mobile providers don’t seem to be heeding the trends that will eventually compromise the quality of service for their subscribers.

With this kind of ostrich behavior from carriers, consumers should be clamoring for more unlocked phone options so they have the freedom to seek out services that will provide the speeds, complimentary accessories, and forward moving innovation that consumers are paying for.

The CEO of News Corp. Mr. Rupert Murdoch stated that he would like to introduce the digital content of newspaper to the Apple iPhone, Android, and the Apple iPad in a different and attractive way. The launching date has not been declared yet. But it’s been told that the Managing Editor of The New York Post will be in charge of this new strategy.

Murdoch is hopeful that the adolescents will love this new idea of presenting the news and it will be a huge success for them.

This new application, which will have the free access, will be far better than the present iPad application of Wall Street journal. Though some of the newspaper companies found it troublesome, but it’s true that this is the best possible way to convince those people who are apparently new.

There are some other news companies like USA Today and the New York Times who have the same Unlocked iPhone4 and iPad applications and now News Corp. joins the queue. But it is to be noted that this apps apparently cause no good to these companies.

So these newspaper companies are now looking for some brighter applications as the journal, New York Times, already came with a new application through which publishers are enabled to open an application without putting their money. The NY times will profit from the license fees which they will get from it.

But it is not going to be that easy for the News Corp. as the existing specimens are not exactly what is required to support its bigger overhead. So the News Corp. needs to find out a solution and let’s watch how they find it!

Vlingo, the maker of a popular Voice command application for a number of cell phone platforms, responded to the launch of Google’s Voice Actions application, this was done by offering Vlingo’s Android application free of cost. Vlingo stated in its blog that its Voice command application is better than the Google version in many respect and also offers similar functionality. In order to compete with the application by Google, Vlingo has now started to offer the Android version free of cost so that it is easier for the user to compare the features of the products.

Vlingo states that their product has advantages over the one from Google. Vlingo hints, Google has a constraint because it has to promote its services and other content while being a separate developer, Vlingo can take the best of Google and the other services and mix them up.

Vlingo’s Voice command application does provide some features that that cannot be found in Google’s Voice Actions. These features include Safe Reader, this application reads incoming email messages and texts. Vlingo is available on many platforms like Unlocked Blackberry phone and the iPhone and also on more than one version of Android. Though Google’s voice actions may be attractive for Android, the only Android version in which it is available is 2.2.

So… a few questions appear before us. Will Android users choose Vlingo over voice actions now that Vlingo is available free of cost? How will everybody take Vlingo’s move to offer such a huge discount and make its app free? It does speak a lot when a company actually tries to compete rather than bad mouth its opponent.

Though available in the United Kingdom since June, Dell Streak unlocked cell phone is yet to land itself in USA. But many users are not aware of what they have been missing as the Streak only runs on Android 1.6. But there is good news after all this, as it is expected that the Streak will be running on a superior version of the Operating System.

If you have already presumed that it’s the Android 2.2 Froyo, then you’re wrong. It’s the Éclair; Android 2.1– Google has the knack of coming up with catchy nicknames for their cell phone operating systems. Right now we don’t have the option to make a choice, because the Android 2.1 is after all an improvement from 1.6. Many users will be joyous about the features that the Éclair will provide them. The keyboard for example has undergone massive improvement.

The Éclair also takes social networking a notch higher as it allows users to synchronise contacts with selected social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. It is also possible to get live wallpapers, though this is not an exceptional feature, but they do promise to look good on the large display of 5 inches of the Streak.

Éclair is presumed to be loaded with the Streak, as and when it launches in the USA. It would be advisable for Dell to do that as some smartphones have by now upgraded to Froyo Operating Systems. And, the bigger version of Streak headed for us who will assumable have the Android 2.2 pre-installed, Streak has to build up the excitement to make people expect better things from Dell. The modified Streak, promising to launch in the later part of the year, I would wait and look out for what comes out of the competition.

But immediately we can only hope that the Streak comes as early as possible.

This may just remain speculation for now but it is important and hence we think that one should know that the Nexus One Phone has finally got the capacity to be able to record video in High Definition 720p resolution. This device will record the video on the new CyanogenMod 6 Froyo ROM which has been installed in it. The latter is actually the greater news than the HD video recording as the capability for recording video in this quality is not really new for the Nexus One but it is actually the first time that this feature is being linked with the new CM6 Android 2.2 Froyo edition. This is something which is exciting for us. According to the news that we have got, this mod for Nexus One has only been made available for the CyanogenMod editions which are greater than the recent RC2 and therefore we need to be patient at least for some time when it gets incorporated into the next CM6 release.

This mod is actually accessible as a kind of path and can be transferred to other ROMs but for now, the 720p recording is exclusively available on the CyanogenMod. Therefore the owners of the Nexus One will not have to be jealous of the similar Sense bearing counterpart which is the HTC desire Unlocked smartphone which has received the feature of recording video in 720p for a long time. As far as the quality of recording goes, we have found that the video comes pretty good even in low light conditions and clarity is very good in the images. However if you are using the built in microSD card which comes with this phone then you probably will have to upgrade to a new one for the time being at least. This phone is far from gone and it will be receiving a lot of new similar modifications soon.

If one is giving a thought or willing to buy the new phone from Verizon which is considered as one of the best 3G smartphones or a 3G Multimedia device, that person will be extremely happy hearing that he can get a credit of dollars 30 for every 3G smartphone buy. This phone very much covers the characteristics of any phone that one is willing to buy from Big Red. The source of Verizon informs us that starting from 30^th July itself, this cash back incentive provided by the company will be inordinately beneficial.

The number one carrier for wireless networks in US, calculated on the basis of the number of subscribers, will provide the customers the benefit of ruling the air with this specially devised incentive facility. The credit of $30 is provided to most of the 3G enabled phones of Verizon’s smartphone series and the multimedia series of phones including the best smartphones with Android. So if one is willing to buy a HTC Droid Incredible or the Motorola Droid X, he can actually save a huge amount from his pocket if he purchases the article in the near future. Venison does not need this incentive to promote the Unlocked Droid ( X ) or the Incredible but to measure how these smartphones are selling by their own.

But for every smart phone that is not showing ship dates in August one can earn a credit of $30 on each buy of smartphones. One needs to take an absolute advantage of this offer else it is very unsure when Verizon would launch its second offer. If one is still not aware of the new Unlocked Motorola Droid X from Verizon review, he might check it out on the internet. People can also go through the review of Verizon HTC Droid Incredible. This although is something which we dearly needed, can get pretty annoying in the near future as the New York subways will soon be getting full cell phone connectivity along with WiFi within their network. Think this is impossible? Well no as the subways have recently signed a new deal with a company named Transit Wireless who have agreed to work with the NYC subway to install cell phone and WiFi receiver in certain tunnels of the subway system. Connections to the stations had already been made such that one could get cell phone connection in the stations but until now there was no connectivity in the sections of the network where the trains would go from underground tunnels. However now this will not be the case as there will not only be cell phones but WiFi connectivity in the tunnels. According to our findings, the costs for this entire project will be around $200 million and the entire network will spread to around 300 stations in total. The network that will be set up will be good to serve for next generation networks.

The people who have made this network have said that they have designed and built this network such that they can keep it for future use and it means longevity will count for the authority. What one has to gain from this is pretty obvious as there will be complete connectivity for the users even when they are inside the tunnels and hence you need not be worried about losing your signal when traveling underground. This can be pretty helpful when we consider that in case of emergencies, now users can actually make calls if needed. Although this system is all good, there are also some downers here as it means that there may just be a greater risk of having more people engaged in banal conversations in public transport systems.
