The first time you picked up that Galaxy S III at the store, you fell in love with it. It had such a sleek, smooth feel, and so thin… Your service provider had it in that gorgeous pebble blue color. Sold!

Then the clerk recommended hiding its beauty with a case or skin and a screen protector. Really?

Sorry to say, you have to consider it. Here are a few reasons:

Drops. Your phone will fall out of your pocket or slip out of your hand at some point. Given that you are probably hanging out on the concrete more than at home on the carpet, you know even the strongest case is going to get damaged. (And if that dent is in a spot where you hold the phone, you’ll get irritated again every time you make a call.) Besides, a cracked screen would really ruin your day.

Germs. You’ve heard the horror stories. Most devices carry more germs than a toilet seat. That’s not just an ugly rumor. Study after study proves it. If you’re bothered by that, clean your phone regularly. If you’re the kind of person who likes that Spring cleaning feeling, wrap your phone in a skin and change it out if it really gets gooey or stained. A screen protector is even easier to swap out, so you can do those even more frequently.

Look. A white Case is a beauty, but sometimes you need to show some personality. You want to show a little red once in a while, but not all the time. That red skin will look really good over that marble white case during the holiday season.

Price. Even on contract, that S III set you back $200. Replacing it would hit you for at least $500. For that kind of money, you could buy a skin for every day of the month.

Cases are designed to be smooth. That makes them slippery. That makes them more likely to be dropped. Hmmmm. Maybe that’s another reason that manufacturers make them that way…

The debate rages on over Apple’s insistence that its mobile and desktop platforms remain closed. The Electronic Frontier Foundation published a report calling for Apple to adopt a more open model for its iOS and OS X.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of Apple’s closed platforms

Leaving your valuable Apple devices unprotected is risky!  Discover the latest innovative protection solutions ... stylish top brand bags and sleeves for your iPad3 from top brands Be.ez, Incase, and Targus.

Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside, these  brand name cell phone protection accessories for your iPhone 4S  form : iSkin, Incipio, Incase, Puregear, Moshi, Griffin and  iLuv combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

EFF calls Apple’s platforms “beautiful crystal prisons,” because they impose unnecessary limitations on its devices. EFF’s position is that Apple is hurting users by shutting out developers in the open source community. It should mimic Android’s open source model as this is part of the reason for its widespread use by so many device manufacturers.

On the other side of the argument are those who point out that Apple’s closed model is not just a benefit but one of the most important features of its mobile and desktop devices.

Eric Testorff, a Technology Coordinator in Crossville, Tennessee, points out the benefits of a closed system in the education environment. His position: “Thank God Apple is the way it is, especially with so many schools purchasing iPads. It is good that it is so difficult for kids to download and install bad Apps. Not every school knows how to police that. At least Apple does some of the policing for us. With Androids, it’s like the Wild West.”

Enhance your Apple iPhone, iPad3 and MacBook mobility and turn your device into a power tool!  Discover select accessories such as; stylus & pens, micro SD memory cards, batteries, docking stations, Bluetooth headsets, data cables and XMI Speakers  all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of Apple’s closed platforms

Apple’s App Store model as provides a level of security that is appealing to businesses as well. As an IT manager at a large privately held company said in a recent interview, “When we decided to dump BlackBerry last year, we ran trials with the iPhone and with Android phones. During the first week of trials alone, I had one guy crash his Samsung from installing a bunch of poorly made software. Then someone else rooted his phone and all of his stock apps stopped transmitting data. This was just the trial; imagine what would happen if we deployed these phones to more than 200 employees across the company.”

We’ll just guess that his company ended up going with the iPhone.

Regardless of whether your loyalties lie with Android, Apple or BlackBerry, your devices need the protection of cell phone cases and skins and screen protectors. Make sure they have enough juice wherever they go with wall chargers, car chargers, desktop chargers and spare batteries.

There’s no doubt that Google organized a big community really fast with its Google+ social network, but a former Engineering Director at Google is denouncing the service as a means to an end:  creating a tool to gather as much information as possible on users for the purpose of capturing more dollars from its advertisers.  Sounds very similar to Mobile service providers creating locked in long term contracts that siphon more and mo0re money from users.

Spencer Tipping, a programmer who left Google about a month ago, authored a blog post describing the pros and cons of the Google culture. His post delves into the technological environment and the corporate culture at the company. He called Google+ a big corporate culture con game.

As Tipping put it, “I think Google+ is an effort that does not deserve the engineering minds at Google. This is mostly a personal bias. I see Google as solving legitimately difficult technological problems, not doing stupid things like cloning Facebook. Google, in my opinion, lost sight of what was important when they went down this rabbit hole.”

    The Google+ stupid Facebook clone

Tipping admitted that he disagreed with what he called Google’s “ubiquitous political emphasis on Google+ that sometimes compromised other engineering efforts.”

Tipping might be carrying some baggage on the subject of Google+, but the pros in his blog post outweighed the cons. He also said he left the company “mostly because I wanted to take the time to pursue stuff closer to my interests.”

Samsung just cranked up the level of excitement over the Samsung Galaxy S3 to a whole new level. They’ve finally, officially announced that their new flagship phone will be available in June from all the major U.S. carriers:  AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular.

Here’s where to get your Samsung Galaxy S 3

Each carrier will be releasing their pricing in the coming weeks, and check the websites for pre-order plans. The phone will probably start at $199 (with contract) and may hit the stores as early as June 20th.

We’ve got the final specs for the U.S. version of the Galaxy S3:

    • Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz dual-core S4 processor with integrated modem
    • 2 GB RAM
    • 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen display
    • Gorilla Glass 2.0 protecting the display
    • Android 4.0 with TouchWiz enhancements

The device weighs in at 133 grams and is 0.1mm thicker than the Samsung Galaxy S II, but due to its lack of the back chin, thickness is a lot more uniform.   Moreover, its size (136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm), the device offers an excellent grip and is rather pocket friendly.   Protect your Galaxy S3 form the hustle and bustle of everyday life with the latest Samsung Galaxy S3  accessories.

The phone also has two unique features. The Galaxy S3 will run S Voice, which is a voice assistant reminiscent of the iPhone4S - Siri app, as well as a feature called Smart Stay, which optimizes the phone's settings by detecting whether a user is looking at it.

The Galaxy S3 will be available in 16GB and 32GB versions but also can be expanded with additional memory cards. It will be available in two colors, marble white and pebble blue.

Samsung has a reputation for being pretty slow with bringing its accessories online. Industry leading manufacturers continue to provide the greatest selection of top brand cell phone accessories  from Bags and Sleeves, Batteries, Bluetooth Headsets and Bluetooth Car Kits, Car Holders, Cases and Skins, Data Cables, Earbuds and Headsets, Keyboard and Protectors, Memory Cards, Screen Protectors, Speakers and Docks as well as Stylus and Pens.

Here’s where to get your Samsung Galaxy S 3

One surprise in the announcement: the U.S. version of the Galaxy S3 won’t include the same quad core processor as the international phone.  But Samsung explained the change: “The dual-core processor offers speed and performance comparable to leading quad-core processors without sacrificing valuable battery life.” The dual core Snapdragon S4 processor with integrated modem will allow the device to operate on the fastest LTE and HSPA+ 42 networks.

As Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Telecommunications America, pronounced it: “The U.S. launch of the Galaxy S3 is the most anticipated launch of the year. As promised, we are delivering the ‘next big thing’ for U.S. customers and across all major carriers. Galaxy S3 introduces new technological innovation and takes sharing to the next level.”

Samsung Galaxy Nexus gets approval for Android 4.0.4 from Verizon

Verizon has finally given the official word that their testing of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is complete, and the Android 4.0.4 update (build IMM76K) is good to go. We’re still waiting for Verizon to get the update to customers, but their sharing of the news means we’ll have it very soon.

Lately Samsung has  been doing everything right: building great cell phones like the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S2, Galaxy S2 X, Galaxy S2 LTE, Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab tablets.

Verizon’s support page has the details of the benefits of the software upgrade. Here is a summary of the fixes you can expect:

    Email, Messaging & Data

    • Email messages will display properly when the text size is set to large.
    • When sending a multimedia message to an Outlook email address, the file extension will send, allowing the recipient to successfully open an image.
    • Successfully deleted emails on the device will be deleted from the desktop as well.
    • Successfully send text messages without experiencing network connectivity issues.

    Applications

    • When viewing a Calendar reminder or appointment, you will now be able to view the full notes associated with the appointment.
    • A down arrow has been added in the Calendar application that will expand the calendar message body, allowing you to view the entire message.

Samsung has a reputation for being pretty slow with bringing its accessories online. Industry leading manufacturers continue to provide the greatest selection of top brand cell phone accessories  from Bags and Sleeves, Batteries, Bluetooth Headsets and Bluetooth Car Kits, Car Holders, Cases and Skins, Data Cables, Earbuds and Headsets, Keyboard and Protectors, Memory Cards, Screen Protectors, Speakers and Docks as well as Stylus and Pens

Samsung Galaxy Nexus gets approval for Android 4.0.4 from Verizon

    Device Features

    • Successfully turn on Wi-Fi using the Power Control widget.
    • Updates have been made to prevent the display from freezing or becoming unresponsive.
    • Complete calls without experiencing choppy audio, clicking noises and one-way audio noises.
    • Successfully access Voicemail and other automated systems without error.
    • I’m glad that Verizon finally got this update approved, but Galaxy Nexus owners should expect more of the same with future updates. Google will announce their Android 4.1 upgrade next month and it will hit the GSM Galaxy Nexus shortly, and then Verizon subscribers with the CDMA/LTE Galaxy Nexus will be left waiting for months before Verizon approves it.

This build was first leaked in early May and appeared on Google’s servers again just last week. If you already flashed this, you have the same version that is going out to all customers.

The Samsung Galaxy S 3 goes on sale in Europe next week, but all those of us in the U.S. and Canada want to know is, where is ours?

Rumor has Samsung Galaxy S 3 in the U.S. June 20th

If Samsung and the carriers aren't talking, maybe we can take a cue from David Beren of TmoNews who posted a summary of T-Mobile’s launch plans for the next couple months. His list indicates that the 16GB and 32GB metallic blue versions of the Galaxy S III could launch as soon as June 20th.

Protect your Galaxy S3 form the hustle and bustle of everyday life with the latest Samsung Galaxy S3  accessories.

Although there will be a 16GB ceramic white version of the S 3, the list shows that device won’t hit the market until July 11th. That apparently is the same date that T-Mobile gets both the Galaxy Note - Samsung's 5.3-inch smartphone/tablet hybrid, and the myTouch device from Huawei.

Given that TmoNews is usually pretty good with its predictions, maybe we’ll be hearing some kind of official announcement soon.

Rumor has Samsung Galaxy S 3 in the U.S. June 20th

We still haven’t heard who will carry the Galaxy S 3 in the U.S., but odds are good it will be available at least through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

With all the positive buzz about Samsung the company and its Samsung Galaxy S 3 device, it’s no wonder everyone is itching to get their hands that 4.8-inch Super AMOLED 1,280-by-720 display, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera that runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

  • LG Fantasy - Fact or Fiction?
Posted on January 3, 2012 by Pure Mobile

    January 3, 2012

LG Fantasy - Fact or Fiction? There are those moments where no news is good news. This is generally not the case in the technology world; in particular within mobile technology market space... which is constantly evolving, improving, and innovating to keep pace with a tech savvy and tech hungry consumer base.  A market base growing at an exponential rate as unlocked cell phones becomes more and more available to consumers in India, Africa and China. Thankfully the advent of tablets and a plethora of mobile accessories such as cases, skins,  screen protectors, desktop chargers as well as  Bluetooth Headsets keep our little hands busy while awaiting the latest smartphone relases.

With that in mind, the jury is still out on the lack of an LG Windows Phone release in the United States in 2011.... the last LG Windows Phone seen state side was the Quantum back in 2010. This handset wasn’t widely popular, perhaps because it was not available as an unlocked smartphone, instead it was tied to a carrier exclusive contract with AT&T.  Discover a massive selection of  SD Micro Memory cards.  Extend your mobile device memory to hold a huge inventory of images, songs and documents.

Trickles of a new release for the Windows OS are tickling the imaginations of the mobile world with a device going by the moniker LG Fantasy. As with any gossip mill, speculated details are flying with scant solid evidence or manufacturer announcements to give credence and weight to the words.   Discover  XMI Speakers; uncompromised sound quality and a revolutionary design accentuating  today's interactive lifestyle.   In addition,  earpieces and headsetscombine sophisticated style and precision engineering that deliver brilliant sound for your total listening pleasure.

LG Fantasy - Fact or Fiction? The most likely sounding is that is has a four inch IPS display and this holds more veracity thanks to the leaked image of the smartphone. This image is indeed blurry (as can be seen in the picture above), but it is pretty evident that the handset has either a 5 megapixel or 8 megapixel camera. This seemingly harmless detail gives more heft to the talk that the Fantasy will join the ranks of Windows phones because this megapixel screen is what current Windows Phone users have with the 7.5 OS (aka Mango).

Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  The latest stylish top  brand bags, sleeves and cases innovative protection solutions allow you to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes with our stylish top.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

What is markedly less clear is whether this particular device will see the light of American soil for its debut, but it is likely that a launch will occur sometime in 2012. LG is smart to keep up guessing and ramping up the free PR to fill the void between its Windows Phone releases, but will be sure to keep the juiciest details for the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in February.  Checkout the latest in mobile device accessories.
