  • Otterbox armor series cases for iPhone galaxy S3

OtterBox carrying cases are already widely credited as some of the world's best . Their protective Defender and Commuter cases are highly reviewed and extremely popular. But even so, the company's been promising something new since 2012 and with their latest OtterBox Armor case for iPhone 5, they've delivered.

"The OtterBox iPhone 5 Armor Series case is a reinvention of an OtterBox classic that brings protection against water, drops, dust and crushing force," says the company.

But we feel that's a mild understatement. This super-tough case can actually survive a plunge of up to 6 metres, thanks to metal latches, an o-ring seal, port covers and mesh coverings.

Since it was only unveiled a little over a month ago at CES, the iPhone 5 Armor case, which is also available for iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S III, is basically the newest thing on the market.

But already, it's been surrounded by great reviews calling it one of the best. PC Mag listed the Armor case for iPhone 5 in its roundup of the 20 coolest cases at CES.

And for its part, OtterBox is calling it the toughest case ever built, adding, "This case was made with confidence. We encourage you to use it with some."

Otterbox has long been a leader in iPhone accessories, and with this latest offering, it looks as though the company intends to keep its crown. As for us, we're thrilled to have the Armor case for iPhone 5 available so early in its release, and we're pretty sure you will be too.

  • Griffin survivor cases iPhone 5

It's not often that you get a great deal on one of the most popular and highest rated accessories for one of the best and newest phones. But this week, the Survivor series, Griffin's leading carrying case for iPhone 5, is on super sale at Pure Mobile.

With an iPhone 5 accessory as high-rated and well-loved as this, it almost seems like an exercise in redundancy to go through a description. But for those who aren't already well acquainted with Griffin's star iPhone case, here goes:

Griffin proudly claims that the Survivor case is the most protective case they've ever built, which, for this company, is saying something. Unapologetically over-engineered, the Survivor for iPhone 5 is built to military specifications, "designed and tested to meet or exceed US Department of Defense Standard 810F."

With a multi-layer construction that combines shatter-proof polycarbonate with shock-absorbing silicone, the Survivor case has been tested to withstand rain, vibrations, blown sand and dust, and even a 6-foot drop onto concrete.

But this carrying case serves just as well for everyday life as it does in military-grade tests, and handy features, like a multi-position clip make it a practical and functional civilian favorite.

And with a wide variety of colors to choose from (our sale includes models in basic black or grey, as well as color combos with red, blue, green and more), there's a stylish option for almost every taste.

And right now, we've got the Griffin Survivor for iPhone 5 priced around the $20 mark, which is probably just about the best deal you can get on an iPhone 5 accessory with this level of design and quality.

  • Plantronics_Voyager_Legend_bluetooth_headset Plantronics's water resistant Voyager Legend Bluetooth headset

When it comes to Bluetooth headsets for phones, not all are created equal. And Plantronics' Voyager Lengend, today's mobile accessory of the week, is proof of that. Branded as "the world's smartest headset," the Voyager Legend is designed first and foremost for sound clarity and intuitive use, two areas in which it certainly excels.

Its precision audio provides superior sound quality, thanks to multiple microphones intended to optimize voice and reduce external noise. That, says Plantronics, makes this Bluetooth headset ideal for noisy settings, like airports, windy locations, and busy cities.

And if you're still not sure, you can always check out the sound comparison clips on Plantronics' website.

But what makes a great headset isn't just top-notch sound. It should also be easy to use and uncomplicated. That's where the Voyager Legend's intelligent design features really come in.

With its Smart Call Routing feature, the headset "Intuitively directs calls to your phone or headset, pauses music for incoming calls, and allows you to automatically answer by simply placing the headset on your ear."

And with Caller Announce and Voice Command capabilities, the Voyager Legend also makes it easy to answer, end or ignore calls hands-free, which come in especially handy while driving.

Meanwhile, the headset itself is clearly built to withstand the wear and tear of everyday use, and it's even designed to protected against sweat and moisture witha  nano-coating dubbed P2i technology. That means you don't have to worry about getting caught in the rain or accidentally setting your headset down on a wet surface.

And if you're the type who tends to use more than one device on a daily basis, this headset's Multipoint technology will allow you to pair and maintain connection with two different devices. That's especially nice since the Voyager Legend is compatible with most phones or tablets, from iPhone to Android devices and more.

  • LINKASE-iPhone_5_case_absolutetech_red Absolute Tech's Linkase uses EMW to boost your Wi-Fi signal

It seems every accessories maker out there is working on accessories for iPhone 5 that boost something. There are iPhone cases with external battery to extend your battery life. And now, a new iPhone 5 carrying case from Absolute Tech may just boost your Wi-Fi.

Gizmodo reported this week on Absolute Tech's latest gadget, the Linkase, an iPhone 5 case that's supposed to help you get better Wi-Fi reception on your phone using electro magnetic waveguide (EMW) technology. For users with limited data plans, an iPhone accessory that helps lower overage costs probably sounds like a godsend.

LINKASE-iPhone_5_Wifi_case_blue-absolutetech Absolute Tech's Linkase iPhone 5 case in Blue

But Gizmodo isn't totally convinced and here's why. Though Absolute Tech's website runs through an explanation of how this EMW technology works, Gizmodo notes that this is still "a bit of a gray area that seems to border on snake oil."

However, EMW isn't the only reason Absolute Tech says the Linkase works. Rather the accessory also seems to prevent users from covering the iPhone antenna, and even includes and antenna extension. Both of these things should actually help you catch a better signal.

Though whether this iPhone carrying case can boost your Wi-Fi by 50 percent as promised is still up for debate. And at $50 a pop, taking a chance and testing out this  iPhone accessory isn't exactly cheap.

As for the other aspects of the Linkase, it does seem to be a thoughtfully designed and well constructed case. WIth a multilayered design, it combines a polycarbonate backing with a raised rubber bevel and non-slip leather coating on the exterior.

With a slim design, and available in some bright colors, it's also pretty attractive (aside from the whole raised antenna thing.)

So would we recommend the Linkase? If it came from a trusted name like Griffin or Incase, we would in a heartbeat. But we're going to have to go with Gizmodo on this, and say that this is one iPhone 5 accessory that needs to be put to the test to see if it really delivers on everything it promises.

  • OtterBox Defender Case BlackBerry Z10

Any proud new owner of a BlackBerry Z10 is probably facing the same dilemma – having one of the newest phones on the market can make finding compatible accessories hard. Good thing, then that leading case maker OtterBox is already making fun new gadgets and accessories for BlackBerry Z10.

Just in at Pure Mobile, one of the most popular OtterBox carrying cases, the Defender, has arrived for Blackberry's first all-touch phone. The Defender is already among one of the top cases for both iPhone and Android devices, like the Galaxy S3. But, with the celebrated arrival of the new Z10, it only made sense for OtterBox to start making Blackberry carrying cases that offer the same level of protection.

As with the Defender models for other phones, this rugged accessory combines multiple layers for ultimate device protection, including a high-quality polycarbonate shell, a shock-absorbing silicone skin, and a clear screen protector.

OtterBox Defender case BlackBerry z10 layers The four layers of protection in OtterBox's Defender case for BlackBerry Z10

And, for no-fuss carrying, this super resilient OtterBox case also comes with a ratcheting belt holster that makes it easy to clip your phone someplace handy.

To be sure, it's always harder to find accessories when you've got the latest handset. And you probably won't find as wide of a selection of Blackberry Z10 covers and skins as you would carrying cases for iPhone or other devices that have been around longer. But at least the first Z10 accessories out there are bound to be the high quality stuff, as is the case with OtterBox's Defender.

Well-conceived and well-built, it's surprisingly slim and always reliable. And for protection from dust, drops, bumps and shocks, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better BlackBerry carrying case than the OtterBox Defender for Z10.

  • LifeProof Waterproof case iPhone 5 Black Mud Puddle

So, at the risk of a pun, LifeProof has made quite a splash in the past year or so, thanks to its highly effective waterproof Apple accessories. Not too long ago, we reviewed their waterproof carrying cases for iPad and iPhone 4/4S. But today's mobile accessory of the week is LifeProof's long-awaited accessory for iPhone 5.

The leading maker of waterproof carrying cases has finally put out its iPhone 5 model, and it's just arrived at Pure Mobile. As with LifeProof's versions for older Apple devices, the LifeProof Case for iPhone 5 is not only waterproof, but dirt-, snow-, and shock-proof too.

LifeProof 130101 Waterproof case iPhone 5 Black LifeProof Waterproof Case for iPhone 5 in Black

If you have any doubts in this area, they may be put to rest by the fact that the LifeProof waterproof case either meets or exceeds tests from both the U.S. and U.K. armies, so it's fully military-grade.

For such a rugged and resilient case, you might expect something much heavier and bulkier. But the LifeProof case for iPhone 5 is actually quite slim and light, totally in keeping with the design of the device it's intended to protect.

LifeProof 130102 Waterproof case iPhone 5 White LifeProof Waterproof Case for iPhone 5 in White

Another thing worth noting about aesthetics is that, for an iPhone 5 accessory that could have prospered based on its functionality and practicality alone, some extra effort has been put into looks here.

Though it's hardly a rainbow of color, it's nice to know that there's at least two color options (black and white) and that the overall look has been kept as simple and streamlined as possible, considering all that this accessory can do.

We will say this: in the realm of iPhone accessories, the LifeProof carrying case for iPhone 5 isn't cheap. But If you're looking for fully-protective waterproof, shock-proof and drop-proof functionality, it's among the best.

  • ChargeCard iPhone data USB charger The ChargeCard, a credit card-shaped USB charger for iPhone

Oh, no! You're out for the day but forgot your iPhone charging cable at home. The only way anything in your wallet is going to help you now is if you head to the nearest electronics store and pick up an extra Apple phone charger, right?

Not necessarily, if you've got a ChargeCard. Gizmodo and Mashable reported this week on a new product which originally popped up on Kickstarter but has since found enough funding to start shipping some models.

The credit card-shaped Apple accessory works like a USB data cable for iPhone 4 or iPhone 5. But, at the thickness of about three regular credit cards, it conveniently fits in your wallet, so you're likely to have it on you at all times.

For the time being, the makers of the ChargeCard are only starting to ship microUSB and iPhone 4 dock connector models. but they've also got a lightning version for iPhone 5 in the works, as well as models for BlackBerry and Android phones.

We're not saying that the ChargeCard will totally replace your other iPhone chargers. Obviously, it serves quite a different purpose than, say, an iPhone desktop charger. And, unlike your traditional Apple cable charger, which you can use at any outlet, the ChargeCard needs a USB port to work.

But it's still a clever accessory and, at its cheap $25 price tag, it's an iPhone accessory that's totally worth it, even as just a backup way of extending battery life.

  • HTC One phone unveiled: behold the beauty
Posted on February 20, 2013 by ewilkinson

HTC One newest phone HTC One, the company's newest flagship phone, in silver

We're already well acquainted with HTC's One X and One S phones, but yesterday, as CNet joked, the company unveiled "One phone to rule them all." Just to be clear, that's the HTC One, no additional letter required.

This latest HTC flagship device may only have been unveiled 24 hours ago, but already the opinions, reviews and hype are adding up to a potential blockbuster for HTC.

Gizmodo quipped that it's "exactly how you're supposed to build a phone," highlighting not only the device's sleek, lightweight design but also its top of the line screen and its interface which, though this is an Android phone, has some similarities to a Windows Phone.

    HTC One phone interface Blinkfeed

Let's talk about the looks: at 4.7 inches in size The HTC One boasts a beautiful and sleek aluminum body that's lightweight with a slight curve on the back. Its Gorilla glass 2 screen, according to Gizmodo, "is gorgeous." With a resolution of 1,920 × 1,080 and pixel density of 468ppi, we'd have to agree that it's one of the best out there right now.

On the inside of this Android-powered beauty is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.7 gigahertz quad-core processor, with 2GB of RAM and a 2,300 mAh embedded battery.

Another feature everyone seems really excited about is the HTC One's cameras. The Front-facing one is fairly standard at 2.1 MP, but the rear-facer, though only 4 MP, is totally unique.

As Engadget notes, "before you go apoplectic with rage – the company's magical new imaging technology means that the One's 4-megapixel sensor isn't the slap in the face with a wet fish you'd assume it to be." Rather, as CNet reports, he camera will better pick up light and will work better in the dark than rival smartphone cameras such as the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S III."

Another nice thing about the new camera on the HTC One is its "Zoe" picture feature, which lets you take photos as short video clips, with the camera actually starting a second before you press the button and continuing for three more seconds.

"By scrolling through the photo gallery, shots come alive like something out of 'Harry Potter'," writes CNet. "In addition, collections of photos from a specific event are automatically collected and joined with music to create 'Zoe Highlight' videos."

Like previous flagship phones, the HTC One also integrates Beats audio technology, and it's got dual front-facing "Boom Sound" speakers for a pretty great video-watching experience.

We'll definitely be keeping our eye on the HTC One as it begins rolling out this March, and we can't wait to get our hands on one, or to start stacking up the accessories for the latest and probably best HTC phone to date.

  • iSkin Vibes cases BlackBerry Z10 Black and Pink

One of the biggest pieces of news on the mobile front this week was the earlier than expected U.S. release of BlackBerry's newest all-touch handset, the Z10. But at the price they're going for at this early stage, we'd probably recommend some good protection, because you're going to want to take care of that baby. Good thing then that we at Pure Mobile just received a slew of BlackBerry Z10 cases just in time for those early adopters who just have to have the latest thing.

Though most major American carriers won't be getting the Z10 til March, early adopters can get the handset through new carrier Solavei for – get this  – $999 without a contract. Now, we're not here to judge. If the latest, hottest BlackBerry is worth a cool thousand to you, so be it. But our opinion, similar to Beyoncé's, has always been "if you like it then should'a put a skin on it."

iSkin Vibes cases BlackBerry Z10 Black and Blue

iSkin's Vibes cases for BlackBerry Z10 in Black and Blue

Just in is iSkin's popular flexible Vibes case in a model for the Z10, a pretty good choice in terms of both practicality and looks. Available at Pure mobile in Black, vibrant Blue, or regal Purple, the Z10 Vibes case is felible, durable, and form-fitting, with a subtle and attractive textured pattern on the back for enhanced grip.

Made from a safe and non-toxic polymer that's both BPA- and lead-free, the Vibes case for BlackBerry Z10 is not only shock-resistant, it also uses iSkin's patented MicroBan anti-microbial protection to keep your phone clean and to keep you healthy.

And at almost 25% off right now on Pure Mobile, there's one thing you can say for the Z10 Vibes case case that you can't say about the device it protects – it's pretty cheap. And with its one year warranty, you know the Vibes case will last you a good while. Stay tuned, though, because even more BlackBerry Z10 accessories are slated to arrive at Pure Mobile in the coming weeks and days, and we'll be keeping you posted.

  • Nokia DT900 Wireless Charging Plate Black

When we're all old and gray, our grandkids will gather around and ask us to tell them stories of the olden days. And one of those tales will probably be about what is was like to use a phone charger you actually had to plug in. Wireless charging has officially become "a thing," and with accessories like their WIreless Plate Charger, the latest Nokia phone chargers are definitiely at the forefront of this technology.

With their most recent phones – the Lumia 820, Lumia 920, and Luna – Nokia has enabled wireless charging, making for possibly the most laid back charging procedure yet. The charger essentially just plugs into the wall, but beyond that, there are no wires to deal with. You just place your phone on top of the pad and it's done.

Nokia DT900 Wireless Charging Plate Black

How is this any different than using a regular phone charger, you may ask? Well, first consider how many times you've probably panicked, looking all over for your charger, with your phone battery at dangerously low levels. Now imagine your Nokia phone charger was pretty much stationary, always plugged into the same outlet, like a phone speaker or dock. Yep, that's pretty easy to find.

In general we think wireless charging is just a dandy idea. But in particular, we're failry impressed with Nokia's DT900 Wireless Charging Plate. It comes in fun, bright colors, as well as standard black or white, to match your Lumia 920. It's also compact and modern looking, the kind of thing that looks sleek on your desk and doesn't draw unwanted attention.

And for how new this technology really is and how handy of a gadget the Wireless Charging Plate can be, it's priced pretty cheap, around the $50 range. It's an accessory that's worth it for any owner of a new Nokia phone. And just imagine how much fun you'll have telling the grandkids that "back then," you were the first person on the block to get one.
