  • Kensington AbsolutePower iPhone 5 desktop charger Kensington AbsolutePower desktop charger for iPhone 5 and iPod

The line goes: "with great power comes great responsibility." But in the case of Kensington's latest iPhone 5 desktop charger, great power just comes with great versatility. The AbsolutePower USB dock is the leading accessory maker's newest Apple charging dock. But it's also quite possibly one of the best accessories of its kind.

Super versatile, the AbsolutePower dock pulls double duty, both syncing and charging not just your iPhone 5, but your iPod Nano and iPod Touch too.

A lot of thought has been put into the design of this Apple desktop charger. For starters, it's sleek and compact, so it'll take up a minimal amount of space on your desk at home or at work. And its non-slip case means that it won't be sliding all over the place either. And if you're in a hurry, you don't even need to worry about removing your phone from its case.

But that's hardly the coolest thing about this iPhone accessory. And we at Pure Mobile have a hunch that it's called the AbsolutePower USB dock because it's one charger to rule them all.

Sure, it works great as desktop iPhone charger. But thanks to its USB to AC power adapter, it's easy to convert it into a portable charger that draws power via USB rather than a wall outlet. And since it's so compact, it's really easy to just toss this charge and sync stand into your bag and take it to go.

So, aside from doubling as a stand for face-time chats, and a desktop charger and syncer for multiple Apple devices, it's also a portable charger. It kind of makes you wonder if there's anything this iPhone dock doesn't do.

After knowing what Kensington's latest can do, it seems pretty clear that the AbsolutePower USB Dock is among the best iPhone docks – and maybe even the best iPhone accessories – to come our way in some time.

  • Griffin Moto TC Monster Truck for iPhone iPad iPod

In our mobile accessory of the week feature, we often review practical and handy accessories that simplify your daily life. But this week, we've left the grown-up world behind to focus instead on a fun new gadget that'll make you feel like a kid again, with a spotlight on Griffin's Moto TC Monster Truck.

It doesn't matter whether you're 5 or 55, this remote controlled truck is pretty hard to resist. And it'll probably be the coolest piece of tech to hit your life since the iPhone, iPad or iPod you use to control it. Just imagine ripping down the office hallway with this thing or tearing up the living room, and you'll get the picture.

griffin_moto-tc-monster-truck_iPhone_iPad_iPod Griffin's Moto TC Monster Truck for iPhone, iPad and iPod

Basically, this awesome little gadget works by using your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch as a remote, via a free app that lets you "wreak havoc," from your touchscreen.

Definitely not the remote-controlled car of your childhood, the controls for this baby are pretty sweet: You can maneuver by touch, using a virtual steering wheel, or by motion, when you tilt your device to steer. Or, slide your fingers across your display to direct the truck.

You can even pre-program routes, like figure-eights and track loops or "record your own trail of destruction and relive the madness."

As for specs, this is one truck that's designed to go anywhere. It's got a high-clearance chassis with knobby tires and four-wheel independent suspension. And you don't have to worry about batteries, since it's powered by an internal rechargeable NiMH battery pack.

Sure, it may not be a total necessity for your responsible, adult life. But this awesome little truck is one of the most fun and coolest accessories for iPhone (or any other device for that matter) that you can find. As its maker Griffin aptly notes: "Anyone can fling birds at pigs. But do you have what it takes to tame the Moto TC Monster?"

  • Smarterflo Smarter Stand for iPhone kickstarter project

Just like most people, Smarterflo product designer Dotan Saguy loves the iPhone. But as any good mobile accessories designer should, he's always looking for ways to make life easier. Enter the Smarter Stand for iPhone. Simple and ingenious, this new iPhone accessory from Starterflo is one of best ideas we've seen lately, solving two of the little issues we've all had with the iPhone for some time.

In a video for Kickstarter, where Smarterflo is trying to raise $15,000 to get the Smarter Stand made, Saguy explains how he first thought up his new design:

"There's two things that have been bugging me for years about the iPhone. The first one is, to try to prop it up against something is nearly impossible. The second thing is, when I try to bring my earbuds out of my pocket, to try to tangle them out is just a nightmare."

    Smarterflo_iphone_stand_kickstarter_Project_earbuds

But Saguy realized that using the iPhone's headphone plug could allow him to make an easily portable kickstand that didn't require a case for the device and didn't add any bulk. The result is a new, minialistic iPhone stand that plugs into the headphone jack while also allowing you to use your headphones and while keeping them tangle free.

To call the Smarter Stand a desktop stand is a little hyperbolic, since the accessory is so small you can slip it in your pocket and take it from place to place with you, another clever feature of this accessory. And, aside from acting as a spool for tangle-free earbuds, it works with or without a case and is compatible with both iPhone and iPod Touch.

This isn't the first stroke of genius to come out of Smarterflo. The company launched their Smarter Stand for iPad only this past June on Kickstarter, to amazing response and great success. And we at Pure Mobile have a feeling they're in for even greater things with their amazingly simple and exceedingly clever new iPhone accessory.

  • Our first 'Thank Gadget It's Friday' feature, Dexim's remote controlled Monster Truck for Apple devices

We're making Fridays even more fun at the Pure Mobile blog, with a new weekly feature we're calling 'Thank Gadget It's Friday,' or TGIF for short.

What better way to wrap up the week than with our favorite gadgets? And in this feature, we'll be bringing you our top picks in mobile accessories, from the coolest smartphone cases to the best phone docks and speakers.

But we're kicking things off in style today, with an accessory that's a little out of the norm, and a whole lot of fun – Dexim's remote controlled AppSpeed Monster Truck.

Definitely a toy for grown ups, the Dexim RC Truck uses Apple devices, like iPhone, iPad and iPod in lieu of a traditional controller. All you need is the free app that's provided when you purchase the truck.

But that's not the only difference between this suped-up mobile accessory and a regular remote controlled car. Dexim's monster truck can be controlled by either traditional touch sensor or "gravity sensor," which lets you control the vehicle by tilting your device in different ways.

The truck also has multiplayer mode for racing with friends, and comes with three preset stations that let you "automatically ZigZag, Spin, or Dance your vehicle to     music."

As far as mobile accessories go, the Dexim RC Truck may not top the list of most needed, but it's certainly among the most exciting, and would certainly make a great gift for the techie in your life. Though we can think of more than a few people who'd simply want one for themselves.

  • Watches are back with a whole new purpose, and their name is iPod Nano – the most innovative development in the iPod world since, well, the iPod. If you dare to be either a geek or a trend-setter (or could absolutely care less what your best buddy or your mother thinks), don’t turn your nose up at the iPod Nano watch.

The iPod Nano watch may look like a watch, but unless you program it to, it doesn’t act like one. It’s an innovative use of iPod technology that puts up to 16GB of music storage and an FM radio on your wrist. It lets you change music tracks on your wrist rather than holding your phone,

The watch comes in a couple of different designs – one with clips on the band that you use to snap your Nano in place, and another with pins for a more secure fit (some assembly required.)

That’s the good news about the Nano Watch design. Here comes the criticism:
    • The Nano charges via a long open 30-pin port that's exposed on the side. The headphone jack is right next to it. That's a lot of open ports on a wearable device.
    • The Nano isn’t water resistant, so you could even damage it just by washing your hands.
    • There’s no Bluetooth, so you’ll have a headphone wire running to your wrist (however, it is better than a wire running to your pocket or your backpack.)
    • The Nano's clipped on solidly, and can't be removed without removing the watch.

The iPod Nano Watch is not ugly, but it is big. It’s convenient because you’ve got your music collection on your wrist. It’s cool because watches are a novelty. Make one that’s submersible (or at least undamaged by hand-washing) and connects to Bluetooth, and even your mother will want one.

Leaked iPod Touch parts suggest a 4.1-inch screen for the future

Twenty-four hours ago the word on the street was that the new iPhone would feature a 3.95" screen.  Now that MacRumors has gotten their hands on the leaked parts, everyone’s talking about a taller, 4.1-inch screen.  The viewable portion on the iPhone 4S is slightly smaller than the opening provided by the front panel, so that might explain the difference in the measurements.

  • Apple Jailbreak Released
Posted on January 3, 2012 by Pure Mobile

    By Adhurim Murtezai

    January 3, 2012

There are those consumers who play by the rules and the status que. Then you have consumers who want enhance their current technology at any means and with total disregard to the rules. From unlocked cell phones to untethered jailbreaks, these tech savvy rebels will constantly push the envelope and expand the edge of innovation.

Apple Jailbreak ReleasedSo, the technological consequences of this week’s announcement by iPhone DevTeam still remain to be seen on the mobile tech scene.  The team has finally released an updated version of a jailbreak tool (Redsn0) which will allow iPad3, iPod Touch 4G, and iPhone 4 the to jailbreak their devices without requiring the user to re-enable the tool each time the device is rebooted. Alas, the iPhone 4Sand iPad 2, are not yet compatible with this tool which is typical with the latest and greatest technology releases . But, all news points to the jailbreak tool being applicable to a number of the manufacturer’s media players, tablets and smartphone devices.  Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  The latest stylish top  brand bags, sleeves and cases innovative protection solutions allow you to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes with our stylish top.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

Apple Jailbreak ReleasedAlso typical to jailbreak tools, there are some things to keep in mind. First, users need to have a compatible base band if they prefer to unlock the device with the ultrasn0w tool. Next, they must save the SHSH blobs if there is the possibility the user may want to downgrade again to version 5.0.1 when updates are released.   Discover the foremost online source for brand name data cables and mciro SD Memory Cards with the advanced designed engineered to work with the latest wireless and mobile devices.  This  Data Cable and Memory Card Collection combines style, quality, performance and value while giving you the ultimate in cable technology.

There are indications that the iPhone Dev Team is diligently working to expand the un-tethered jailbreak tool to Apple’s latest tablet and smartphone releases. And, as this writer is not as technical as these “researchers,” she does wonder if any of these tools affect the iHome and other accessories or will result in greater carrier neutrality for customers as an “unlocked” device.

  • Rest in Peace Steve Jobs
Posted on October 6, 2011 by Pure Mobile

The recent passing of Steve Jobs has to be seen as not only a loss for Apple, but also for innovation in general. Steve Jobs is responsible for many areas of technology that are now considered normal and mainstream. His vision and leadership paved the way for innovation to take form in the shape of style.

Let's face it because of Steve Jobs, Apple is seen as and is considered cool. From the early days of the revived Macintosh to the introduction of the iPod and those cool white earphones, Steve Jobs made it all happen.

    Rest in Peace Steve Jobs

When it comes to digital music it is no coincidence that Apple is leading the competition in that area. Steve Jobs figured out how to bridge the gap between the traditional music world and the online needs that users have to both buy and consume music online. And because of it, we are now seeing many other companies provide a similar service which in the end benefits us as consumers. We may not realize it but the environment that Steve Jobs helped to create now gives us music cheaper, faster and available to us directly through our cell phones.

The cool factor that Steve Jobs brought to technology can also be seen in the iMac, MacBook, and the MacBook air. All of these devices can be seen as having a modern design to it and is what the younger generation both wants and appreciates.

The iPhone is a combination of Steve Jobs vision, leadership, and attention to detail. We thank Steve Jobs for all he has done for this industry and hope that he has instilled his vision to Apple allowing them to innovate for many more years to come. We have mixed feelings about news of his death and the Apple press conference, in some weird way Steve Jobs has left us with his most successful technological innovation.

  • "Chicago Bidmyway"Bidmyway is a brand-new local daily deal service that is looking to compete with the other large companies in the space, but will be focusing on dealing with local merchants instead of the huge brands, and will not function as an aggregator is so many services have in recent times. The company is pretty unique because of the way that the deals are brought to the users, and also because it has an interface that makes it easy for users to utilize their service. The company uses a kind of iPod style of navigation to see how they are going to be able to get good local deals on items."Chicago Bidmyway Adds New Hyperlocal Deals app"

It is a pretty innovative idea overall, and they should be able to provide users with good deals on various different industries as a result of their very small niche market. They are only going to be accepting exclusive deals are not going to be taking anything from Group on and Living Social as so many other aggregation style sites do. The fact that they will be dealing with only exclusive deals works in their favor because they will be the only place that users will be able to go to be able to get the deals the company provides. The idea is that the company will be the best option for merchants would like to launch a mobile deal quickly. Rather than having to wait for your children go through life with the bigger sites, they will make it easy for you to launch a deal immediately and also live up to the deal on your own end.

This is a great idea that could extend the industry and into a larger portion of users. Another site with local exclusive deals is definitely something you should be interested in if they are familiar with the other services.

PureMobile carries a wide range of unlocked cell phone accessories and unlocked cell phones like unlocked HTC Incredible S, Samsung i897 Captivate, etc.
