  • ClarityOne w102 Over Ear Headphones White ClarityOne's new over-ear headphones with PureSound technology in white

There are a lot of high-end, high-performance universally compatible headphones and earbuds on the market. Beats by Dr. Dre probably comes to mind, and maybe even Incipio. But if you aren't already acquainted with ClarityOne, you're missing out. The company is responsible for some of the best earbuds we've ever seen (or heard?), and now, with their new over-ear headphones, they've earned our title of mobile accessory of the week yet again.

Last time we checked in with ClarityOne, we were amazed at the patented PureSound Processor used in their earbuds to eliminate all distortion and allow for top sound clarity. As one reviewer from BlackBerry OS noted, the PureSound processor isn't just a gimmick, but was more than 12 years in the making. It works by creating "opposing magnetic forces that cancel out the inductive reactance."

Not surprisingly, the company has put the same technology into their new over-ear headphones, so you get your music, and nothing else, in a comfortable over-ear model.

If you're curious about specs, BlackBerry OS  was good enough to put a list together:

    • Sensitivity (1kHz): 110dB SPL/mW
    • Frequency Range: 35 Hz – 17 kHz
    • Jack Plug: 3.5 mm stereo gold plated with 1/8 to /1/4 adapter
    • Cable Length: 48 in/1.12 m
    • Transducer: neodymium magnet
    • Impedance (1kHz): 8 ohm

    ClarityOne Over Ear Headphones Black

And, along with the fact that they provide pretty much the best sound you'll ever get from a set of headphones, extra thoughtful details, like the ability to swivel the headphones' earpieces, make these fairly hard to match.

Of course, ClarityOne's over-ear headphones are compatible with almost every device you can name – tablets like the Acer Iconica, Apple devices like iPhone and iPod, Samsung phones like the Galaxy line, and pretty much every other cell phone you can connect headphones to. So you can enjoy exceptional sound quality and clarity whenever and on whatever device.

  • New Moshi iGlaze Armour Case for iPhone 5 Moshi's new iGlaze Armour Cases for iPhone 5 comes in lustrous metallic finishes

When it comes to cell phone accessories, Moshi is one of the best. And that's especially true in respect to their collection of iPhone 5 cases, which seems to be growing on a weekly basis. Their speciality is in combining sleek and compact designs with a style that borders on runway-worthy. In fact, the company describes itself as a "purveyor of electronics fashion," rather than simply a maker of carrying cases and covers.

It's no surprise then that the latest Moshi iPhone 5 case is just as elegant (some would even say beautiful) as the rest of their accessories. A continuation of their popular iGlaze case series, the iGlaze Armour is a brilliant and lustrous iPhone 5 case with a sleek and rich-looking metallic finish.

Available in either Silver, a gold-like Bronze, or a shiny jet Black, the iGlaze Armour combines a polycarbonate frame with a diamond-cut aluminum backplate, so you get strength at the core and a seriously sexy metallic outer.

We at Pure Mobile are already carrying the Bronze version, and we hope we're not going too far in saying that it's so stunning and so elegant that, in the flesh, it's actually reminiscent of a gold brick.

It's a sophisticated, and more importantly, a practical choice for your iPhone 5. Glamorous for women, and sophisticated for men, it reminds us of something either James Bond or Marilyn Monroe could carry around.

Again, Moshi has proved itself not only one of the best, but possibly the most fashion-conscious of cell phone accessories makers, as the iGlaze Armour iPhone 5 Case goes beyond mere protection and practicality with an elevated and endlessly elegant appeal.

  • mentalKase foam case for iPhone 4 4S mentalKase promises rugged protection for the "Bear Grylls adventurer"

Okay, so we all want to keep our fragile and costly devices protected. But have we gone a little too far in making crazy brick-like carrying cases to keep them safe? mentalKase, a new line of protective iPhone cases on Kickstarter, has led us to conclude yes and no.

At first glance, we completely pshawed the mentalKase. Branded as a sort of ultimate outdoorsman's carrying case, It looks like a really big silicone skin with a handle, wrapped around a slightly smaller silicone skin. Combined, the two layers practically double the size of your iPhone – talk about bulky!

But the case (which is compatible with iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S with an iPhone 5 model in the works) isn't actually silicone. Its inner layer is made of TPU, while the large outer layer is made of micro-cell rubberized foam (MCRF), which mentalKase says "protects sensitive electronics from shock and impact" like nothing else.

And while their video shows someone dropping their iPhone, clad in a mentalKase, from a two-story rooftop, and another person chucking theirs into the air like a juggler, one wonders if any normal person would ever need protection for such activities? Nonetheless, the the iPhones survive, so at least we know the mentalKase does what it's supposed to.

Another little drawback to the mental case is that, while the outer layer allows access to the headphone jack, no mention is made of any of the other iPhone ports, so we're not really sure how you're supposed to charge with it on. Nevermind that it's not particularly attractive, though you can remove the outside and use just the inner layer.

It's also behind some other heavy-duty iPhone accessories, like the Lifeproof, and OtterBox's upcoming Armor case, in that it's not waterproof. But it will float to the surface, for whatever good that does you.

mentalKase foam iPhone cae 4 4S The outer layer of the mentalKase converts to a desktop iPhone stand

There are some nice features to the mentalKase, however. You can use it with your phone's screen out or flipped in, for extra protection. And the outer layer can be removed and converted into an iPhone desktop stand.

Also, the MCRF material used for the outer is anti-microbial. But, just as we feel it's a bit of an exaggeration to try and protect your phone lest it fall off a roof, we also think it's a little phobic to need a sterile case. Really, has your phone case ever given you a cold?

Over all, the mentalKase looks like a pretty decent product, and seems to deliver on what it promises. So, in that sense, it's not really going overboard if you happen to need a massive, germ-resistant iPhone case that can survive a game of "toss that phone" and can float like a fishing bobber.

But if you're looking for everyday use, we'd probably recommend a more streamlined case with a slightly lower level of shock absorption, something that'll actually fit in your pocket.

Still, it just goes to show that, for every person and every lifestyle, there's an iPhone accessory out that's just right.

  • Incipo Stanley iPhone 5 cases

Your iPhone's just another tool, right? Well, with their line of Stanley cases for iPhone 5, Incipio has taken that pretty literally. The cell phone accessories maker has paired with tool manufacturer Stanley for this collection of tough, professional-grade carrying cases and covers designed to for the jobsite.

We've reviewed a lot of cell phone accessories in the past, but this is the first time we've ever seen a line of cases specifically geared for some of the toughest trades out there.

New at Pure Mobile, the Stanley line will certainly look at home next to the rest of your tools, with models in classic construction colors like black and yellow (though they're also available in more subtle tones like black and grey, or even black and pink, for the ladies.)

Incipio Stanley Foreman case for iPhone 5 Incipio's Stanley Foreman case for iPhone 5 in Black and Yellow

And whatever your job throws at you, there's a Stanley case that can handle it. Models like  Dozer are extra-rugged, with a plextonium under-layer, shock-absorbing silicone outer, and screen protector. The Dozer even goes so far as to provide camera and button protectors that can be closed to keep dust and dirt out.

But different tasks require different levels of protection. And while models like the Highwire, Technician, and Foreman also use a combination of plextonium and either silicone or NGP in their multi-layer construction, each is tailor-made to suit the task at hand.

For a sleeker, slimmer look that's still up to par, we'd recommend the Foreman. While it's impact resistant, with a plextonium bumper and easy-to-grip silicone core, it's got a bit of a lower profile than styles like the Highwire or Dozer, which really do look like something you'd hang from your toolbelt.

But whatever the style for you, Incipio's Stanley line is definitely at the top of a very short list of iPhone 5 accessories we'd actually trust at a construction site.

  • Artiphon Instrument 1 musical instrument iPhone

When is an iPhone accessory not an iPhone accessory? When it's a musical instrument.

At first glance, you may think you've got Artiphon's Instrument 1 all figured out. On the surface it looks like some sort of mobile take on Guitar Hero that runs on your smartphone or MP3 player instead of a video game system.

But as Mashable explains in their in-depth review, the Instrument One is most certainly more than just an “appcessory.” Instead, it's a real musical instrument in its own right. Scratch that, it's a real multi-instrument that uses your iPhone or iPod Touch “as its brain.”

Made of genuine hardwood and sporting high-end speakers, it doesn't really look like a guitar, or a keyboard, or any other instrument per se, but that's the whole point. As Artiphon founder Mike Butera told Mashable, the Instrument 1 intentionally stays away from trying to replicate any specific instrument so that musicians are free to use it any way they want. So you can play it like a violin if you want, but it's really up to you.

According to Mashable, “The Instrument 1 works with any core MIDI enabled app, but there are plans to release a companion app for more detailed / custom mappings in the future.”

We're not sure what to make of the Instrument 1 yet, or whether we'd actually play one. But we've got to give it credit for being one case where the iPhone accessory outshines the device.

  • iLuv ISP123 SmashBox pro Portable Stereo Speaker Case Black

Music lovers and active types rejoice! There's finally a phone case designed with you in mind, and it's Pure Mobile's accessory of the week. iLuv's SmashBox Pro is a portable speaker case that protects your phone while acting like a mini stereo.

And while we've reviewed both portable speakers and phone cases on the Pure Mobile blog before, we've never seen an accessory that quite so perfect a hybrid between the two.

Back in the old days, when you went out jogging, hiking or cycling, you took along a discman (remember those?) or a walkman (geez, you've got to be old if you know what that is.) But portable music is all about smartphones these days, which is great. We can almost hear Gandalf voice in your heads, saying "one device to rule them all, and in the darkness bind them."

But your phone is pretty fragile, at least for a mountainside hike or the constant impact of a hearty jog. And though you can always listen with headphones, earbuds do tend to pop out when you're active. So the idea behind the SmashBox Pro is to let you listen with speakers, while protecting your phone inside a totally enveloped zip case.

iLuv ISP123 SmashBox Pro Portable Stereo Speaker Case black interior

It's designed so it can be fastened to your backpack or even to the handlebars of your bike. And where you go, your music goes with you, thanks to exterior controls that not only let you play and pause your tracks but also answer and end calls.

As for sound quality, the general consensus from reviewers is that the sound is big and clear, much better than you'd expect from a set of speakers that's so compact. Meanwhile, the case is ultra-protective and secures your phone in place to keep it from jostling around.

It's also designed to fit almost every phone model, from all incarnations of the iPhone, to Samsung devices like the Galaxy S3, BlackBerry handsets and pretty much any other model you can think of. And thanks to the fact that it's powered by AA batteries, it won't unnecessarily draw power away from your device.

And though you obviously won't be able to use the SmashBox Pro as a case for your tablet or laptop, its speakers are still compatible with those devices too, so you won't really need any additional portable speakers. But we still love it best for high-quality on-the-go sound for when you're out and about or peeling around on your bike.

So, if you've ever wanted to cycle past a car blasting your own favorite tunes as the driver next to you wonders where you're hiding your stereo system, you've finally got your chance. Thanks iLuv.

  • PureGear Extrem Case iPhone 4S PureGear's PX360 ExtremeCase for iPhone 4/4S comes with cool built-in features, like bottle opener and wrench

Today's Pure Mobile accessory of the week would make any outdoorsman proud. Basically the Swiss Army Knife of cell phone accessories, PureGear's PX360 ExtremeCase for iPhone 4/4S is more than just an iPhone case, it's also touted as an "extreme protection system."

Voted by Men's Fitness as the "most functional" on their list of "best cases for your iPhone4/4S" the ExtremeCase offers a crazy level of protection, in an ultra-sporty design. There's no risk of your iPhone unexpectedly coming out of the case if it drops; the ExtremeCase is secured by six screws and acts as a 360-degree shield, witha built-in screen protector.

PreGear Extreme CAse iPhone 4 4S outdoor protection

But what makes it really great for the rugged, outdoorsy type or active athlete are additional features, like the built-in loop at the top, which comes with a carbiner, so you can secure your phone when you're on the go or when you've set up camp.

And, aside from the fairly standard kick-stand, PureGear's ExtremeCase offers cool details rarely found in an iPhone case, like a built-in bottle opener and wrench. So even if you're out of service area, your iPhone may just be able to get you out of a sticky situation.

  • the best gadgets for traveling

Everything has become easier since smartphones, and that goes for traveling too. With easy access to maps, GPS, flight and train schedules, our cell phones, tablets and laptops are now an essential part of globetrotting. But almost as essential are certain mobile accessories that help make sure our wireless devices are always working in top order. The following are Pure Mobile's picks for the 5 best gadgets for travel – don't leave home without them!

    1. Backup power

Your phone and tablet are pretty useless if they run out of juice. And not every country has the same type of electrical outlet, so even if you bring your phone charger, you may find yourself out of luck. Be on the safe side and travel with a backup battery pack. Backup power is also great if you're out and about sightseeing and away from an outlet for any period of time.

We recommend Scosche's goBAT II, a high capacity battery backup for iPhone and iPad, or Dexim's BluePack Battery, which works for nearly all devices, from iPhone to Android and BlackBerry.

    2. A sturdy laptop bag

If you do decide to bring your laptop or notebook, it simply won't do to just cram it into your travel pack. Instead, invest in a good case or travel bag designed to fit your laptop securely, with extra room for passport, souvenirs and whatever else you may need.

For an over-the-shoulder style, we like Targus' Classic Notebook Case for sturdiness and organization. And for backpacks, Incase's Terra Campus pack offers padded protection for both your MacBook Pro and iPad, with tons of extra storage.

Incase Terra Campus Pack Macbook Pro iPad storage Incase's Terra Campus pack offers padded protection for you MacBook and iPad, as well as super organized storage for anything else

    3. A good multipurpose cable

Even with a battery pack, you're going to need a good cable for charging and syncing. We like Dexim's Green Cable Universal, which, as the name suggests works for most if not all devices. Featuring EL technology which reduces power consumption, it not only allows your device to charge really quickly, but also glows while it's charging, to let you know when your battery is full. Neat-o!

    4. A wallet phone or tablet case

Especially when traveling, it's nice to have all your essentials – phone, money, and cards – all in one spot. That's easy with a wallet or folio-style phone case. Griffin's Midtown Wallet is the perfect pick for the iPhone 5, with slots for cards and cash, and their Elan Passport does the same for your iPad 2.

Griffin GB03439 Elan Passport iPad 2 Black Keep your tablet, cards and cash all in one place with Griffin's Elan Passport Case for iPad 2

    5. Compact earbuds

If you've ever been on an 8-hour flight with an unhappy baby, you'll understand the need for a good set of headphones while traveling. Earbuds are more compact, and easier to cary around, so make sure you've got a good pair that can drown out unwanted noise, like Beats by Dre's urBeats, which are small and lightweight but also have a super-tough metal housing.

    Bon voyage!

  • iphone 5 cases Sunita Swarovski crystals CES Sunita's Swarovski crytal-encrusted iPhone cases made Mashable's list of most blinged-out accessories at CES

If Liberace were around today, we know exactly what iPhone case he'd be rocking.

Wrapping up their coverage of the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Mashable rounded up some of the most blinged-out tech, like cell phone cases and headphones, from this year's CES.

And we couldn't help but marvel at (and maybe even admire) this line of iPhone cases  from Sunita, positively dripping with luxury in no subtle way at all. Sure, we've all seen sparkly, rhinestone-studded cell phone cases before.

But it's a much different story when the entire back of your phone is swathed in actual Swaorski crystals; those babies aren't cheap. Though Mashable never mentioned what Sunita's charging for these iced-out cases, other iPhone cases that merely use Swarovski crystals as an accent (think a crystal bumper) can start at $70 or $80.

We're not exactly sure what use anyone would have for such an elaborate iPhone case, except to be able to say they have one. We're not scientists but we're pretty sure crystal isn't the most shock-absorbing or durable material. In fact, we'd recommend getting a case for your case, in the event you drop it and a pricey crsytal or two pops out.

But if showing off in grand style is your thing, it may be worth it.
