Moshi for iPad
  • New Moshi iGlaze Armour Case for iPhone 5 Moshi's new iGlaze Armour Cases for iPhone 5 comes in lustrous metallic finishes

When it comes to cell phone accessories, Moshi is one of the best. And that's especially true in respect to their collection of iPhone 5 cases, which seems to be growing on a weekly basis. Their speciality is in combining sleek and compact designs with a style that borders on runway-worthy. In fact, the company describes itself as a "purveyor of electronics fashion," rather than simply a maker of carrying cases and covers.

It's no surprise then that the latest Moshi iPhone 5 case is just as elegant (some would even say beautiful) as the rest of their accessories. A continuation of their popular iGlaze case series, the iGlaze Armour is a brilliant and lustrous iPhone 5 case with a sleek and rich-looking metallic finish.

Available in either Silver, a gold-like Bronze, or a shiny jet Black, the iGlaze Armour combines a polycarbonate frame with a diamond-cut aluminum backplate, so you get strength at the core and a seriously sexy metallic outer.

We at Pure Mobile are already carrying the Bronze version, and we hope we're not going too far in saying that it's so stunning and so elegant that, in the flesh, it's actually reminiscent of a gold brick.

It's a sophisticated, and more importantly, a practical choice for your iPhone 5. Glamorous for women, and sophisticated for men, it reminds us of something either James Bond or Marilyn Monroe could carry around.

Again, Moshi has proved itself not only one of the best, but possibly the most fashion-conscious of cell phone accessories makers, as the iGlaze Armour iPhone 5 Case goes beyond mere protection and practicality with an elevated and endlessly elegant appeal.

  • Incipo Stanley iPhone 5 cases

Your iPhone's just another tool, right? Well, with their line of Stanley cases for iPhone 5, Incipio has taken that pretty literally. The cell phone accessories maker has paired with tool manufacturer Stanley for this collection of tough, professional-grade carrying cases and covers designed to for the jobsite.

We've reviewed a lot of cell phone accessories in the past, but this is the first time we've ever seen a line of cases specifically geared for some of the toughest trades out there.

New at Pure Mobile, the Stanley line will certainly look at home next to the rest of your tools, with models in classic construction colors like black and yellow (though they're also available in more subtle tones like black and grey, or even black and pink, for the ladies.)

Incipio Stanley Foreman case for iPhone 5 Incipio's Stanley Foreman case for iPhone 5 in Black and Yellow

And whatever your job throws at you, there's a Stanley case that can handle it. Models like  Dozer are extra-rugged, with a plextonium under-layer, shock-absorbing silicone outer, and screen protector. The Dozer even goes so far as to provide camera and button protectors that can be closed to keep dust and dirt out.

But different tasks require different levels of protection. And while models like the Highwire, Technician, and Foreman also use a combination of plextonium and either silicone or NGP in their multi-layer construction, each is tailor-made to suit the task at hand.

For a sleeker, slimmer look that's still up to par, we'd recommend the Foreman. While it's impact resistant, with a plextonium bumper and easy-to-grip silicone core, it's got a bit of a lower profile than styles like the Highwire or Dozer, which really do look like something you'd hang from your toolbelt.

But whatever the style for you, Incipio's Stanley line is definitely at the top of a very short list of iPhone 5 accessories we'd actually trust at a construction site.

  • Incipio xGo iPhone 5 case waterproof Incipio's Xgo iPhone 5 case, unveiled at CES, is waterproof up to 25 feet. Image courtesy of 9to5Mac.

Move over Liferpoof, there's a new waterproof iPhone 5 case in town. 9to5Mac reported on a new, seriously rugged case from Incipio, unveiled yesterday at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

The award-winning cell phone accessories maker's latest is the xGO, a rough-and-tumble iPhone 5 case that's waterproof up to 25 feet, and which the company has branded as an "action sports equipped case solution," ideal for the adventurous type.

The xGO blends a plextonium frame with a silicone core and sports a tempered glass screen, so that your iPhone isn't just protected underwater, but maintains full functionality as well.

Meanwhile, the case's mounting system allows you to "effortlessly mount the case to backpacks, bicycles, surfboards," and comes with a bunch of cool screw-in lenses for your phone's camera, like wide angle, fish eye, macro and zoom.

This latest Incipio iPhone case "provides our active enthusiast with the ability to protect their mobile device and take it with them on all their adventures,” said Incipio Chief Executive Andy Fathollahi in a statement. It's a solution that "changes the way you use your iPhone 5," the company says.

If you're a rugged, sporty or outdoorsy type and can't wait to get your hands on one, the xGO will start rolling out next month in a number of colors, and will be available along with add-ons like attachments, hardware, nylon hand straps and more.

  • Griffin's statement Moxy cases for iPhone 5 balance cool and quality

We already know mobile accessories maker Griffin for its tough as hell smartphone and tablet cases. Models like the Protector and Survivor are the kind of cases we could actually imagine surviving a zombie apocalypse.

But for some people, protection doesn't mean much unless it looks good. Sure, some may dig the utilitarian charm of a rugged case. But there are others still who'd prefer a much less macho look, a case that says high-end cool, a case with a little glamour and a fashionable edge, but that does the job nonethless.

And that's exactly what you get from today's mobile accessory of the week. Versatile as ever, leading mobile accessories label Griffin has come out with a line of ultra cool iPhone 5 cases under the banner of their Moxy collection.

With an edge and style worthy of a spot in even the best fashionista's wardrobe, Grffin's Moxy cases come in a trendy range of colors, textures and patterns, adding some serious designer appeal to your iPhone 5.

From their textured snakeskin Moxy Python iPhone case, to the intense black and pink combo of their leopard print Moxy Cat iPhone case, Griffin finds itself leading the competition in terms of both cool and quality.

That's because Griffin puts the same protective, multilayer design to work in their fashion-forward cases and skins as they would with simpler, more standard designs.

In the case of the Moxy line, you get a smooth rubber-finish lining that protects your iPhone from scratches and smudges, along with a tough polycarbonate shell around the back and edges for impact resistance.

So even though Griffin's iPhone 5 Moxy cases stand up to the rest of your wardrobe in terms of cool, they're also hard to beat in terms of functionality, protection and performance.

  • Beware: bogus iPhone 5 dock is total BS
Posted on October 28, 2012 by ewilkinson

Seeing is not believing: beware this bogus iPhone 5 dock

At Pure Mobile, top-notch mobile accessories are kind of our thing.

So when we came across a story on Gizmodo about a bogus Chinese iPhone 5 dock that doesn't actually work, all we could think was "for shame."

"Don't buy an iPhone 5 dock," Gizmodo warned, "because it's a Chinese scam."

Their information comes from Double Helix Cables, where a friend actually had a hands-on experience with the fake accessory. Here's what they had to say:

"Opening up the box and out pops this stinker. I did a double take because it looked like a prank, prop, or placeholder of some sort. The lightning plug on the dock looks like a damn piece of cardboard, if you can even call it that. Because it's a cardboard-like chunk of circuit board that supposedly is going to fit into my iPhone 5."

The reviewer goes on to write about the the fact that dock's cutout "isn't remotely close to being iPhone 5 shaped," and then elaborates on the "home brewed lightning plug [...] which 100% doesn't fit."

A critic of the phoney dock took major issue with its "home brewed lightning plug"

This lovely critique then ends with the writer concluding that any "further effort to make this non functional dock [work] would probably damage my iPhone."

Granted, Apple doesn't actually make a dock accessory for the iPhone 5, yet. But that's no reason for third party manufacturers to start churning out ones that simply don't work.

Many would be more than happy to produce a suitable iPhone 5 dock that actually functions, especially if they don't have to compete with Apple itself. There are plenty of fun third party iPhone 5 gadgets out there that not only work, but work really well.

And, in our opinion, there's no excuse for this kind of blatant BS when so many companies have been able to turn a dollar making affordable and functional iPhone accessories that consumers actually want.

Market research firm Strategy Analytics forecasts that worldwide smartphone shipments will have grown by 38% from one year ago. They also caution that the rate of growth might not be sustainable in the short term due to global economic troubles.

Smartphone market growth expected at 38% in Q2 2012 4G LTE and Apple main catalysts

The Strategy Analytics report did state that it expects smartphone shipments to bounce back later in the year. Both the Apple iPhone 5 and iPad 3 along couple with devices having 4G LTE connectivity should fuel new growth. Apple iPhone 5 Cases and Accessories

It looks like Apple’s new iPhone 5 will be on the market in September or October 2012. From the rumors we’ve heard, it’s packing some big changes as well as improvements.   iLounge’s Jeremy Horowitz has published a couple of pictures of what the new iPhone might look like. They’re a great comparison between the new and the old.

I have observed the following 3 signs of an impending iPhone 5 market release:

    1. It seems that the black iPhone 4 stocks are low... similar to what we saw a few months ago with the diminishing white iPhone 4 stock levels.   Rumor has it that Apple has instructed dealers to provide customers with comparable iPhone 4S replacements.  Just like how the launch of the iPhone 4S meant the end of the iPhone 3G, the launch of an iPhone 5 would mean the end of the iPhone 4 and a price markdown for the iPhone 4S.
    2. Apple moves to acquire 'iPhone 5' domain name: While iPhone 5 rumours have been circulating since November last year, Apple has now decided to file a claim with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in order to get the domain iPhone 5.com. The complaint (Case number: D2012-0951) popped up on WIPO’s website just this week.
    3. Service providers along with other vendors such as Tiger Direct and best Buy slashes price of iPhone 4S & 4: Target is now discounting new iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S by $50 with a two-year contract. This brings the new prices in-store for the iPhone 4 8GB to $50 and the 4S 16GB to $150 (both AT&T and Verizon).

Please share other signs you think possibly hint to an impending iPhone 5 announcement in the comment section below.

View the following video for complete rumours on iPhone 5 specs and release date

The launch of the iPhone 5 will also drive lucrative after market accessories sales, where, brands like Incipio, Griffin, iLuv, who are all vying to be first to market with new cell phone accessories specially designed for the new iPhone 5.

While brands like iSkin and Incase continue to perfect their accessories which traditionally results in a typical 2-4 week delivery after the iPhone 5 is launched.

One thing remains sure... only those online accessory re-sellers, like Pure Mobile which has established  strong strategic alliances with key accessory brand manufacturers will be best positioned to be first-to-market and provide consumers with the latest iPhone 5 accessories.

The word on the street it that the new iPhone will have a 4-inch display, and it will be taller and thinner than the current iPhone 4S. It looks like the back side of the case will have a metal pane. It doesn’t look like it will cover the entire back of the phone, so this might not be the final word.

To make room for its thinner case, the new iPhone will have a new design for its dock connector. Third-party accessory manufacturers will be all over that change. If Apple is going in the direction of a smaller and thinner dock connector, they might be on a mission to making the iPhone incredibly thin.

With this new design, Apple still needs to do something with the 3.5 mm headset jack. Maybe they’re planning to eliminate it and go with Bluetooth and AirPlay streaming features.

Leaked images of what is supposedly the housing for Apple’s sixth-generation iPhone hit the Web last week. They show a taller, thinner aluminum case than the one currently used by the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 4. The case could accommodate a larger display – perhaps even one that measures a little over 4-inches diagonally.

    The latest on Apple’s iPhone 5 - a thinner case and a 4.1-inch display

In a note to clients, Ming-Chi Kuo, a KGI Securities analyst with a good reputation for getting his facts correct, outlined what he knows about Apple’s iPhone 5 plans. Here’s a summary of his knowledge of the iPhone 5 specs:

    • A 4.08-inch in-cell IPS panel screen with a display resolution of 1,136 x 640 and 500-nit brightness
    • A display that measures 50.9 millimeters wide by 90.3 millimeters tall
    • In-cell touch elements in its display.
    • An impressively- thin 7.9 mm case (the iPhone 4S's 9.3 mm)
    • A battery that is roughly the same capacity as the one found in the iPhone 4S
    • An HD-capable front-facing camera that has been moved from the left side of the earpiece to the center
    • An 8 MP sensor and a 5 element lens for the back camera that is similar to the 4S but with a larger aperture of f/2.2 (currently f/2.4) to improve the low-light performance

Enhance your mobility and turn your device into a power tool!  Discover select accessories such as; stylus & pens, micro SD memory cards, batteries, docking stations, Bluetooth headsets, data cables and XMI Speakers  all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

    The latest on Apple’s iPhone 5 - a thinner case and a 4.1-inch display

Some of this information was confirmed in previous reports by that The Wall Street Journal and Reuters.

Dispelling previous rumors about the display size, Kuo notes that Apple chose not to use a larger 4.3-inch display because it would require a larger battery and wouldn’t support comfortable single-handed operation. Apple has contracted Toshiba Matsushita Display, LG Display and Sharp to supply the new panels.

We’re only a week away from the WWDC conference in San Francisco, so we don’t have much longer to wait for a glimpse from Apple’s view of the world.  Recent reports suggest Apple’s next iPhone will launch in September or October along with a new iPad mini.
