  • Pac-Man, Twitter, and iPhone Team Up
Posted on February 16, 2011 by Pure Mobile

The unlocked iPhone 4 app store certainly is not suffering from a small amount of Twitter clients. In fact, the app store seems to be littered with so many Twitter clients that it can be hard to sift through them all and find one that suits your needs. However, there is a new Twitter application that might be a little bit hard for some die hard gaming suers to pass up.

The application, from NamcoBandai was released in Japan and is called Pac’N TWIT. The application is a Japanese Pac-Man playable game that also allows you to access the Twitter features while you play. This should allow you to effectively pass some time while using the app. It is currently free, and is also translated into both English and French, but is currently only available in the Japanese App store. If the app finds a good amount of popularity, you can expect it to bridge the gap to the app stores of other languages as well.

At the very least it is a refreshing take on Twitter clients, which have run rampant in recent months. The ability to play Pac Man (and supposedly soon, other games) while you use Twitter will help you to pass time while keeping up with all of your followers and followees. Pac-Man recently saw resurgence in popularity when Google made a version playable on their homepage, in place of their usual location of their logo. The game was one of the most searched terms online for over a week, and it became clear tat there is a huge demand for apps that support Pac-Man play, even though the game, at this point, is more than 30 years old.

If the app does well in the Japanese app store, which it is expected to, then you will find that the app may quickly expand to other app stores as well.

  • iOS 4.3 Coming Mid February
Posted on February 9, 2011 by Pure Mobile

The newest version of iOS, iOS 4.3 for unlocked iphone 4 will be launching on February 14th, according to a number of different sources. So far, Google has had a pretty standard operation in terms of the development of the newest version. They have been releasing a new version of the iOS platform about once every two weeks. With the final beta version seemingly upon us, you can expect the company to release the software for all to use sometime next week.

Apple has remained silent about when users can expect the official launch to come, likely for fear that other bugs would be discovered and they would not meet their original plan. All that you can know now is that Apple will release the software when they feel it is ready.

It looks as thought they are hoping to release the update close to Valentines Day, which could be a bad thing for those of us that are looking to play with the features. Playing with the phone on Valentines Day will not make the wife happy, but for some of us could be worth in the long run.

A few different rumors have been leaked so far, pinning the release date either earlier or later in the week depending. It will be interesting to see how and when the software is finally launched. iOS 4.3 for iphone 4 unlocked and ipads has been the talk of the town since word of it first made its way online several months ago, and Apple has continued to test it throughout its beta stages. It appears that the newest update could be just on the horizon, so keep your eye out for the announcement as we get closer to Valentine ’s Day. Apple has not confirmed or denied any of the rumors that have been released so far.

  • Google Instant caused a huge splash when it was first released. The very idea of receiving real time updates as you typed in your search query scared the search engine optimization community and intrigued users. In the beginning, it was not clear if the feature would stick around after some users complained about it, but through the process of fine tuning the feature, Google has been able to put together a solid incarnation and will allow users to finally utilize Google Instant on Apple iPhone’s and other iOS devices. The Instant Previews feature is the only thing that we will be seeing on the unlocked iPhone 4 for the time being.

The Google Instant Previews feature allows you to take a look at the look and layout of a Google search result page before making any kind of decision to visit the page. The feature has already been used on desktops for quite some time, and will work on the mobile devices in the same way that it always has for the desktops.

Flipping from one preview to another will be as simple as moving through the thumbnails in the Safari browser. The new feature will be very convenient for Google and will allow Google to better serve mobile users who are notoriously tired of having to settle for outdated versions of their favorite search engine on their mobile devices.

Perhaps the best part about this update is that there will be no download required. Google will slowly make the feature available to all users as they continue to test, unleashing the feature to select groups at a time. If you are in a rush to see the Google Instant Preview feature on your iPhone 4 unlocked handset, there is really nothing you can do but sit back and wait for the company to roll it out to you. So far there is no sign up process that allows you to opt in early for Google Instant Preview.

  • The History of the Verizon iPhone 4
Posted on January 14, 2011 by Pure Mobile

The unlocked iPhone 4 has been long rumored to be on its way to Verizon. Of course, this took a lot longer than most expected, but now that is official we have some time to go ahead and take a look back at the history of the deal and how it finally came together. We know that both companies had discussed the move over the last few years, but because the newest iPhone’s did not live up to expectations of Verizon, there was no rush to keep the deal in place.

The deal first came together at the end of last year and was put together by Verizon President Lowell McAdam and Apple COO Tim Cook. Both of them had worked through the specifics of the deal over the course of a few weeks leading up to it. The commercial aspect of the deal reportedly only took about one day to finalize. The biggest issue between the two companies was releasing an iPhone version that would run on the Verizon network. Apple also wanted Verizon to put some towers at the Apple HQ building so that they could monitor signal strength and also look for reliability issues. That reportedly hung up the deal for quite some time.

As a result of the most recent deal, both of the companies have agreed to share their knowledge regarding updates with both companies so that they can better work together to bring the consumer base devices that they truly want and are looking for. Verizon will convey their network plans to Apple so that they can better suit their devices for the Verizon network, and Apple will let them know ahead of time about upcoming device plans so that Verizon can prepare as well. Verizon also had to agree to not put their logo on the iPhone 4 unlocked device when it was released. The sales are going to be through the roof, that much is known.

  • With the unlocked iPhone 4 officially finally being released on the Verizon network, a network that is superior to that of the AT&T network, which has received a lot of negative attention regarding dropped calls in recent years, many are wondering how they can get out of their contract with AT&T and head over to the greener pastures provided by Verizon.

The contract with AT&T can be a bit complicated due to some of the contract charges that have been implemented over the course of the last few years. It can be sort of hard to get an idea of how much it would cost to leave the network. However, the information is out there and if you are serious about jumping ship.

Keep in mind that you should not call up your current carrier and cancel if you decide to make the switch. This will often result in you losing your phone number. Instead, try calling up your new network and having them assist you throughout the process. This will help you to keep your current number.

If you are looking to figure out the exact cost, start by taking a look at this web page; http://developer.wolframalpha.com/widgets/gallery/view.jsp?id=e1241d1b9692c1e9f4ebbf6896f0e33e. This was put together to help you to find out the exact amount that you will pay when you break your contract with AT&T. Keep in mind that if you bought an iPhone 4 unlocked after June 1st, you will have to pay some additional fees that were implemented at that time. Although making the move is expensive, most believe that moving to a more reliable network will be worth it in the long run. The Verizon iPhone 4 is coming on February 10th to Verizon, leaving users with just a few weeks to make the switch to acquire the highly popular device.

  • The Playstation Phone, also known as the Unlocked Sony Ericsson (XPERIA Play), has been seen in a number of videos over the course of the last few months. Now, another video of the highly anticipated phone has surfaced online, showing an individual playing BioHazard 2. The early impressions of the phone are pretty sweet. Although some have argued that it appears to be underpowered for a gaming phone after frame rate tests suggested that it put out a lower frame rate than the  iPhone  and other top of the line smart phones, the game that was played in the video looks great, and appeared to run very smoothly.

The hardware that the phone features has not been released yet, but sources have confirmed that the company is looking into bulking up the phone to make it more powerful. In the video, the games that the user was planning had to be loaded through an app called ROM buddy, which allows you to play ROMs on Android devices.

Even though the games were not originally designed for the XPERIA Play device, they still looked very good and were responsive to the phones controls. It is surprising that Sony is the first company to target gamers with a smart phone release that comes complete with a controller. Although gaming has been very popular on phones like the iPhone 4 unlocked and popular Android offerings, the genre’s of games suffered from a lack of a comprehensive control. Controlling a first person shooter on a touch screen can be very difficult, and the XPERIA Play should open up a variety of different types of games to users. Although no information regarding price or release dates has been put out by Sony at this time, it appears that the development of the phone is going into overdrive, especially with all of the unofficial videos showing its use out there.

  • Verizon iPhone on the Horizon
Posted on January 10, 2011 by Pure Mobile

A source close to Apple has stated that the blackout on employee vacation requests is indeed related to the Apple launch of their unlocked iPhone 4 product on Verizon, which will reportedly come on February 3rd. The deal has been one that has been long awaited, and has been rumored to be on the near horizon for quite some time. Of course, this has never materialized leading some to believe that it may never happen. Now, with the blackout on the horizon and no explanation being released for it, it appears that Apple is going to keep quiet about the launch until some point at the Consumer Electronics Show. Their announcement should overshadow just about any other announcement at the show and will create a lot of hype. Verizon users have been eagerly awaiting the release of the iPhone, and it finally seems as if it is coming to fruition.

The Verizon iPhone has no information out there about it currently. Some have speculated that it could have additional features that would make it a more worthwhile purchase, but no information about that has been released so far.

The blackout only applies to individuals that work in the retail stores and does not apply to employees with seniority. If the iPhone is indeed what is causing this move, it is likely because they are expecting a huge turnout in the days leading up to and following the release. There is no doubt that the iPhone will be abundantly popular on the iPhone 4 unlocked, but Apple certainly seems to think that they will need all hands on deck to deal with the response.

Now, we have to wait for an official announcement from Apple. With all of this speculation, it will be hard for them to keep it quiet for long, especially with insiders already talking to the media. Expect the announcement to come at some point in the near future.

  • As of right now, employees of Apple are no longer allowed to use their vacation hours in an attempt to brace for an upcoming event that has not yet been named by Apple. Could this be the famed launch of the Verizon iPhone? Some experts have speculated so, but at this time there is no hard evidence to suggest that this could be the case.

The freezing of all vacation hours will reportedly start at the end of the month in January, and will apply to all retail employees that do not have seniority with the company. The fact that they are only locking down the retail employees suggests that they are expecting a huge retail release around that time. With the iPad already out, and no other devices announced, there is really nothing else that it could be other than a new unlocked iPhone 4 launch.

This also means that Apple could be expecting to announce the new launch at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show, where all eyes will be on Apple to see if they make any huge announcements. Although they have given no clue that they are planning on making the Verizon iPhone announcement, it seems to make the most sense for the company, logically.

A Verizon iPhone launch announcement would pretty much overshadow any other announcements that come at the Consumer Electronics Show. With the freezing of employee vacations coming just a bit into the future, it will be interesting to see what kind of announcement they end up making. A freezing of employee vacations in retail is only something that is done when they know that something time consuming is on the horizon. The Verizon iPhone 4 unlocked launch would effectively be the biggest tech announcement of the year for the most popular device in the world. The announcement has been long awaited and will satisfy many users.

  • Mac App Store hands-on!
Posted on January 7, 2011 by Pure Mobile

As per one of the leading unlocked cell phone blog site, with the success of the mobile app market, it is no surprise that Apple would want to expand a similar structure to their desktop systems as well. The company offered hands on for their new Mac OS X 10.6.6 operating system which is featured in the App Store for Macs.

When you first open up the store, you will have to accept a new terms and agreements package that does limit your rights a little bit more than the previous offering - but not too much. You enter your Apple ID and password and then you are taken to the marketplace.

As far as layout goes, it is very much like that of the unlocked iphone 4 App Store. Similarly, there are buttons that allow you to see featured apps, the top apps across all charts, different categories, and then the apps that you have previously purchased as well as the updates that are available for them.

To make a purchase in the marketplace all you have to do is click the button that has the price of each of the apps. Overall, it has been very easy to use so far and has ran very smooth. This will allow users to install many of their favorite games from their Apple devices right on their desktop computer including popular titles like Angry Birds, and other utilities that would normally be reserved for your mobile device.

Although you will still have to purchase programs for the Mac outside of the app store, the ease of purchasing new apps for your desktop provided by this new update should be welcomed by most users. It is not currently clear if Apple wills tart to offer more advanced apps and programs for the desktop through their store, but either way this is a very good introduction to a system that is based on the success of their previous app stores.

  • Although the announcement comes a few days after their predicted January 1st 10 million sales mark, it appears that Samsung has been able to do so in the days following the turn of the New Year. They were at a total of 9.3 million sales in the middle of December and estimates stated that they would not be reaching the 10 million mark until later this month, but it appears that the holiday season was good to Samsung, allowing them to put out a total of 10 million Galaxy S devices to their users since the mobile device was first released.

The sales figure was very impressive, and shows that Samsung is a legit competitor for Apple and the unlocked iPhone 4. It is the only mobile device other than the iPhone to reach that sales mark in the modern day mobile industry. The only other phone to hit the mark was the Samsung Star. The Star was able to hit the mark in a total of six months making it the fastest selling Samsung device ever released, but the Samsung Galaxy S appears as if it may have more longevity than the Star did.

The Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S is sold on most of the largest mobile providers in the world so it should presumably continue to sell well for quite some time, especially with all of the great press that Samsung will receive for reaching the 10 million sales mark. The popularity of the Samsung S can be attributed to the great processor, excellent marketing and customer service that Samsung has come to be known for in the mobile space. Recent rumors have stated that Samsung could be looking to release a dual core model of the S sometime this year, hopefully that comes to fruition and continues to boost the sales of the device.
