If you're anxiously awaiting the arrival not only of the Galaxy S4 but also of the slew of Samsung accessories that's bound to come along with it, you've got more in store for you than the typical lineup of carrying cases and skins.

A few days ago, Mobile Syrup reported on a leaked list of accessories for the device, which hint that the Samsung Galaxy S4 could, in fact, "be your 'life’s companion.'" That's because the list included all sorts of lifestyle products that go way beyond device protection, audio, storage, or usual range of mobile accessories.

Among these new Galaxy accessories are a number of health and fitness gadgets, designed to work with your phone as a sort of wellness system. These include a body scale that sends data to your phone via Bluetooth and Samsung's nes S-Health app.

That app is also at the heart of some of the other new Samsung accessories for the S4, like the S-Band bracelet. This wearable accessory works as a sleep pattern monitor and pedometer, and keeps track of calories burned.

And even when a typical accessory, like a Galaxy carrying Case, did show up in the list, it was a spin on the expected. With the S-View Cover, a windowed cover for the Galaxy S4's display, you egt a flip cover with auto wake-up function and a display window that gives you time, and battery notifications. It also lets you take or reject calls without opening the flip.

That's not to say there won't be tons of Samsung accessories out there for people who prefer their gadgets without all the bells and whistles; within weeks of its release, the Galaxy S4 should have carrying cases beyond count. But if you're looking for a phone that can be a lifestyle manager, the Galaxy S4's unique lineup of mobile accessories will probably make it the perfect fit.

  • Plantronics_Voyager_Legend_bluetooth_headset Plantronics's water resistant Voyager Legend Bluetooth headset

When it comes to Bluetooth headsets for phones, not all are created equal. And Plantronics' Voyager Lengend, today's mobile accessory of the week, is proof of that. Branded as "the world's smartest headset," the Voyager Legend is designed first and foremost for sound clarity and intuitive use, two areas in which it certainly excels.

Its precision audio provides superior sound quality, thanks to multiple microphones intended to optimize voice and reduce external noise. That, says Plantronics, makes this Bluetooth headset ideal for noisy settings, like airports, windy locations, and busy cities.

And if you're still not sure, you can always check out the sound comparison clips on Plantronics' website.

But what makes a great headset isn't just top-notch sound. It should also be easy to use and uncomplicated. That's where the Voyager Legend's intelligent design features really come in.

With its Smart Call Routing feature, the headset "Intuitively directs calls to your phone or headset, pauses music for incoming calls, and allows you to automatically answer by simply placing the headset on your ear."

And with Caller Announce and Voice Command capabilities, the Voyager Legend also makes it easy to answer, end or ignore calls hands-free, which come in especially handy while driving.

Meanwhile, the headset itself is clearly built to withstand the wear and tear of everyday use, and it's even designed to protected against sweat and moisture witha  nano-coating dubbed P2i technology. That means you don't have to worry about getting caught in the rain or accidentally setting your headset down on a wet surface.

And if you're the type who tends to use more than one device on a daily basis, this headset's Multipoint technology will allow you to pair and maintain connection with two different devices. That's especially nice since the Voyager Legend is compatible with most phones or tablets, from iPhone to Android devices and more.

  • Scosche myTREK Wireless Pulse Monitor Bluetooth Armband for iPhone The next best thing to a personal trainer, Scosche's myTREK Wireless Pulse Moniter helps you plan and keep track of your training sessions and stay motivated

We've reviewed armbands for smartphones on the Pure Mobile blog before, but today's mobile accessory of the week takes the cake. Way more than just an easy way to connect to your phone during workouts, the Scosche myTREK Wireless Pulse Monitor is the next best thing to having a trainer.

Like other sport and running armbands, the myTREK lets you to listen to music from your iPhone or iPod wirelessly, connecting via Bluetooth. Integrated controls on the armband make it easy to control volume, skip songs, and the like. Oh yeah, and it also works at up to 33 feet away from your phone.

But the myTREK is first and foremost a workout tool. WIthout any wires or chest straps, the armband comes in three sizes for optimal fit, and uses integrated dual LED and optical sensors to moniter you pulse in real time.

So why even bother making it compatible with your iPhone? Well, Scosche has designed it to work like an exercise log, with a myTREK app that essentially turns your phone into a fitness diary that also motivates you as you work out.

With it, you can keep track of workout stats like pulse, calories burned, duration, distance and speed, or even the map route you took while running. And over time, you can use the myTREK's integrated calendar feature to keep score of your overall progress, which you can then share via email or social media.

But here's where this amazing little mobile accessory really fills in for a trainer; myTREK allows you to easily set goals based on health information, and to customize your workouts by activity type. With each different training zone represented by a different color, myTREK will give you motivational audio prompts during your training session, helping you stay within your target training zone.

Like we said, this is way more than just an armband for your iPhone. Scoshe's is about the best fitness-related mobile accessory we've seen to date, and that makes it our top pick for accessory of the week.

  • Design concept from earlier this year for an iSiri Smartwatch from Frederico Ciccarese

This wouldn't be the first time – remember Frederico Ciccarese's design concept for an iSiri smartwatch? – but rumors have been circulating about the possibility of an Apple-branded smartwatch in the coming months.

A report (via Chinese news portal 163.com) has been making the rounds on Mashable and 9to5Mac, among others, claiming that Apple and Intel are working together on a Bluetooth-enabled smartwatch that could be released as early as the first quarter of 2013.

Now, there are already quite a few smartwatches on the market, and good ones at that. This year, Sony released their SmartWatch, a hands-free device that syncs with your smartphone to keep you discreetly updated.

The rumored iWatch may work like Sony Mobile's SmartWatch, which syncs with your smartphone and keeps you discreetly updated

Then, there are watch-style cases from accessories makers like Lunatik and Griffin that turn devices you already own, like an iPod nano, into a wrist-wearable smart device.

So, how would an Apple-sanctioned smartwatch differ from any of these? According to the report's sources on the Chinese supply chain, the iWatch would share some elements of other smartwatches. like Sony's device, it would be Bluteooth-enabled and sync to your smartphone, as long as it's an iPhone that is.

It would also be fairly dainty, roughly the size of an iPod nano with an 1.5" OLED display. Such a device, argues 9to5Mac, "could make sense for a future, Bluetooth 4.0-enabled iPod nano. Though they also note that its unlikely would choose to partner with Intel on a such a "low-powered, mobile product."

  • With Hip Street's Keyboard Case for iPhone 4 and 4S, BlackBerry devotees have nothing on Apple fans

There are so many good iPhone cases on the market, but when it comes to our ongoing Mobile Accessory of the Week feature, there can be only one! This week, it's a case that'll finally get BlackBerry users to leave iPhone users alone.

With Hip Street's KeyBoard Case for iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, Apple devotees can finally experience the ease of texting and typing that BlackBerry adherents are always harping on about.

Most of the the time, KeyBoard Case looks like your mild-mannered, everyday smartphone case, with a black satin-finish backing and attractive metallic accent around the edge. But when times call for a lengthy text or full email rather than a line or two, the BlueTooth-enabled, full Qwerty keyboard slides out for serious typing jobs.

But the integration of a full and super-handy keyboard in no way interferes with the way you'd normally use your iPhone. With a cutout design, the touchscreen is completely unencumbered and the case itself doesn't add very much bulk to your iPhone either.

Because it's BluTooth-enabled, you do have to charge the Hip Street Keyboard Case via USB cable, but a good 2 to 3 hours of charging should last you a few days. And you can always turn off the keyboard with a switch whenever it's not in use to conserve battery power.

Over all, it's a well made, sleek-looking case and an invaluable tool for anyone who tends to use their iPhone heavily for texts and emails. And that makes it our top pick for mobile accessory of the week.

  • Watches are back with a whole new purpose, and their name is iPod Nano – the most innovative development in the iPod world since, well, the iPod. If you dare to be either a geek or a trend-setter (or could absolutely care less what your best buddy or your mother thinks), don’t turn your nose up at the iPod Nano watch.

The iPod Nano watch may look like a watch, but unless you program it to, it doesn’t act like one. It’s an innovative use of iPod technology that puts up to 16GB of music storage and an FM radio on your wrist. It lets you change music tracks on your wrist rather than holding your phone,

The watch comes in a couple of different designs – one with clips on the band that you use to snap your Nano in place, and another with pins for a more secure fit (some assembly required.)

That’s the good news about the Nano Watch design. Here comes the criticism:
    • The Nano charges via a long open 30-pin port that's exposed on the side. The headphone jack is right next to it. That's a lot of open ports on a wearable device.
    • The Nano isn’t water resistant, so you could even damage it just by washing your hands.
    • There’s no Bluetooth, so you’ll have a headphone wire running to your wrist (however, it is better than a wire running to your pocket or your backpack.)
    • The Nano's clipped on solidly, and can't be removed without removing the watch.

The iPod Nano Watch is not ugly, but it is big. It’s convenient because you’ve got your music collection on your wrist. It’s cool because watches are a novelty. Make one that’s submersible (or at least undamaged by hand-washing) and connects to Bluetooth, and even your mother will want one.

4G NetworkA new report from industry luminary ABI Research indicates that more than 50% of all unlocked cell phones will be capable of running on 4G or 3G data networks.  Jake Saunders, VP of Forecasting for ABI Research suggests that . “As the festive cheer of the holiday season dies away, the mood among handset vendors remains quietly confident regarding 2012.   The outlook will yield growth in the order of 8%, netting 1.67 billion handsets shipped worldwide by the end of 2012. Particularly notable is for the first time, 3G and 4G handset shipments will capture more than 50% of total handsets shipped."  The consumer's appetite for  high end mobile devices will also drive the after sales cell phone and tablet accessories market.

Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  Discover the latest innovative protection solutions... stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases specifically designed to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

In an earlier report ABI Research identified the worldwide after-market wireless devices accessories sales increasing to more than $50 Billion by 2015.  Key accessory market indicators were identified as:

Protective Solutions - Bags, Sleeves, Cases and Screen Protectors - $1.2 billion

Hands Free Solution - BlueTooth Headsets and BlueTotth Car Kits - $920 million

Power Solutions - Desktop Chargers, Car Chargers, Wall Chargers, Batteries - $766 million

Memory Solutions - Micro SD Cards and Data Cables - $529 million

    Personalization Solutions - Cases & Skins - $520 million

Audio Solutions - Speakers, Earpieces & Headsets - $308 million

In the second half of 2011, top tier mobile device vendors unleashed marketing promotions targeting the upward mobile market audience in emerging smartphone and table markets.   Samsung, used clever ads downgrading Apple users while extolling the benefits of the Galaxy S II X phones and Galaxy Tablet lines of business to make substantial inroads  into these market spaces. Apple is expanding sales channels in emerging markets, with greater success in China than it’s having in India, but is also targeting South American markets such as Brazil. HTC is gaining traction in China, but developed markets such as North America and Europe continue to be the mainstay of its “ship into” markets. RIM, despite its weakness in apps-capable smartphone markets, continues to do well in messaging-centric emerging markets such as Indonesia. Nokia hopes to benefit from Windows Phone 7 Lumia series launches in India (Dec-2011) and China (in 1Q-2012).

  • Kyocera has finally decided to enter the Android market by announcing their first Android phone the Zio M6000. The Zio will ship with Android version 1.6. The Zio is a tri-band CDMA EVDO Rev. Which is a handset that supports the 800/1700/1900MHz bands. By utilizing these three bands this makes the Zio compatabile with networks operated by Sprint, Verizon and smaller networks such as Cricket. Other features of the new Android phone by Kyocera include WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. The Zio comes with a 3.5 inch WVGA screen with 800 x 480 pixels. The Zio also features a 3.2 megapixel camera with dedicated camera key and video capture at 30 frames per second. Additional features include a digital compass, accelerometer and support for microSD cards up to 32GB.

While it is still unknown when any US carriers will offer the Zio it is safe to say that Kyocera is looking to make quite the splash in the Android market. For their first Android phone the Zio is set to be one of the better Android phones on the market. With all of the features that come standard with this particular model the Zio is expected to be a hit in both the US and foreign markets. I am especially excited to check out the digital compass and video capture camera. There are two pretty cool features that most mobile devices do not currently have.

For their first Android phone it appears as if Kyocera has hit a homerun with the Zio. I will be expecting big things out of them in the future when they learn what more of their consumers are looking for and can incorporate those wishes into newer and more powerful Android phones and for unlocked cell phones.
