AT&T and Verizon Brace For a Shock As Texting Declines

By Aldo Panessidi

A classic attribute of technology is that it continuously evolving at light speed into more powerful applications and features.  In stride to technological advances, consumer’s behavior has consistently kept text messaging a repeatable revenue source and a sustainable ROI for service providers and carriers across the world. Alas, the halcyon days of text messaging may quickly be coming to a close if recent reports are any indication of trends.  Experience the convenience of online shopping for unlocked cell phones and mobile device accessories.  Discover wide selection of top quality, innovative protective bags, sleeves and cases as well as premium electronic accessories from the industry’s most leading brands.   An accessory solution for every lifestyle… this is personal. This is you.  This is shopping simplified.

AT&T and Verizon Brace For a Shock As Texting Declines

A recent column in Forbes outlines that text messaging rates are declining in many countries around the world. The report metrics were based on the text messages sent this past Christmas Eve as it is one of the highest messaging days of the year.  As Tero Kuittinen, the author of the article and a senior analyst for MGI Research wrote of the Finnish wireless carrier: Sonera – ‘As the major carrier of the Scandinavian country, it is a great marker for that country’s trends. Christmas Eve of 2010, 10.9 million messages had been exchanged. The same day a year later saw a drop to 8.5 million.  This kind of decline was also seen in Hong Kong and other highly populated metropolises… with the fall off may being as high as 14%.  Get powered up for work, life and play easily and conveniently with the latest collection of desktop chargers, wall chargers and car chargers.   Get all the power and energy you need for the mobile lifestyle.

These numbers may seem contradictory considering how consumers leverage cell phones foor both communications and as a pocket PC.  Do we talk more? Nope. Traditional texting is down? Yup. Are we using our phones as a multi media tool? You betcha. So where does this equation balance? The word “traditional.” Organic Facebook and Twitter support on Apple and Google smartphones is changing how we communicate. Add in email and free messaging apps (MMS versus SMS) and there is a recipe that doesn’t bode well for carriers and cuts the bonds of contracts and messaging packages that have lined their pockets for approximately 15 years.  Discover the widest online selection of Bluetooth Headsets and BlueTooth Car Kits.  Latest technology from top brand manufacturers.  Hands free functionality is designed for the interactive ‘on the go’ lifestyle and allows safe driving

When considering the increasing popularity of unlocked phones and the growing power of mobile consumers, this news should be closely considered by US carriers like AT&T and Verizon. Kuittinen noted in the Forbes article that for these major American carriers the next few years could see their earnings growth markedly decline. No surprise when “as much as 20% of carrier earnings are derived from text messaging.”  These players will seriously have to reconsider their strategy and plans to capture the business from unlocked phone users and the continuing evolution of messaging.

Carrier IQ to face the Feds

By Aldo Panessidi

Carrier IQ is getting beat up. Amid the flurry and speculation around the use of its stealth-ware on handsets for certain carriers, the company now has to contend with a federal investigation. This is prompted by the software’s ability (and use of that ability) to track a number of activities conducted on smartphones including SMS and browsing without the users’ knowledge. And then sends that information to the carrier to use it as they see fit. Alas, it doesn’t take a legal eagle to note the potential for serious privacy law infringements.   Unlocked cell phones provide an excellent way to protect yourself against carrier tracking your personal SMS and mobile usage.

Carrier IQ to face the Feds

In the wake of this bombshell, The Washington Post reports that Carrier IQ execs met with officials from the FCC (Federal Communication Commission) and also with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) on Tuesday. The article also included this response from the Carrier IQ representative, Mira Woods, “We are complying with all investigations at this time as we have nothing to hide […] we have been completely transparent through this process.”  Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  Discover the latest in innovative protection solutions…   stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases allow you to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside our brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

Questions regarding these practices and technology first arose this September which Carrier IQ was able to quell. Unfortunately for the software company, a security researcher by the name of Trevor Eckhart recently thrust the company back into the spotlight and now into the arms of the FTC and FCC. While Carrier IQ insists that its software is actually innocuous and “collects enough information to understand the customer experience with devices on our network and how to devise solutions to use and connection problems,” Eckhart was able to prove that the company actually collected and shared data that could include personal data, location information, and key strokes. What better advertisement for unlocked smartphones is there?  Discover the widest online selection of Bluetooth Headsets and BlueTooth Car Kits.  Latest technology from top brand manufacturers.  Hands free functionality is designed for the interactive ‘on the go’ lifestyle  and allows safe driving.

Carrier IQ to face the FedsAs this is the kind of scandal that breathes life into 1984-esque conspiracy theories, it is no surprise that Tuesday also brought further allegations were made against the FBI, insinuating that the bureau may also be taking advantage of this technology to silently spy and collect information on smartphone users. The prompt for this accusation was the denial of a Freedom of Information Act request made to the bureau in regards to the Carrier IQ scandal. Consumers would be well advised to research the practices of carriers and manufacturers in this matter and leverage unlocked cell phones to protect privacy and information.

Smartphone manufacturers and carriers alike have also entered the fray to let the public know whether they use Carrier IQ’s software or now. Unfortunately, a public that feels betrayed and spied upon (and is still unaware of exactly what information has been gathered and shared from their smartphone usage) is not at ease or consoled by their statements. No doubt, class action lawsuits will be the next step in this ever unraveling drama.

Google to Release its Answer to Siri

By John Castell

Google to Release its Answer to Siri

Just in time for holiday parties, Apple unleashed its iPhone 4S on the masses. This optimist’s belief is that Apple was being very considerate in providing hosts and guests alike the perfect party trick: Siri.  It certainly provided an hour of entertainment at my last dinner party… although Siri did not answer any of my questions in a satisfactory manner.   Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  Discover the latest stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases which allow you to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes with our.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these innovative  protection solution accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

Hopefully, Google’s up and coming counterpart will have a better sense of humor. Rumor has it that the Android solution which would amp up the capabilities of “Voice Actions” on their smartphones and close the competitive gap that Siri created. AndroidandMe recently reported that the project is referred to by the code name “Majel” and could be released as early as the end of this year. As this technology will amp up smartphone usage even more, customers should be sure to use the latest in hands-free device such as Bluetooth headsets or BlueTooth Car Kits when taking advantage of this technology while driving (especially with amped up holiday patrols and tricky weather conditions).

Along the same lines as Siri, Majel is said to use the same method of conversational speech to issue queries in lieu of having to make use of limited compatible commands. The freshman release doesn’t look to allow end-users to control the phone or its installed applications, but that functionality may be in the pipeline for sometime next year. This is great for expanding the scope of hands-free technologies available on the market for both Android and Apple mobile devices.  Discover an extensive selection of the latest lithium technology replacement cell phone and wireless devices batteries.  Ensure your device is powered by brand name batteries for longer operating life.

Google to Release its Answer to Siri

For the moment, Majel is still a rumor, but Google’s actions all seem to have iOS and Apple in its sights to take down as competition, so… it is likely a very credible rumor. In fact, on Tuesday they announced the acquisition of Clever Sense (the developer of “Alfred,” a personal assistant software). We are still vague on whether Alfred (who IS quite similar to Siri) will be integrated into the first Majel launch (we can say with certainty that Alfred will not clean the bat cave or pick up dry cleaning).   Enhance your mobility… turn your device into a power tool.  Discover select memory and electronic accessories specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

For those Android users who have Siri envy that needs to be assuaged now, there are a couple third party assistant apps available in the Android marketplace (easily found by searching “Cluzee” or “Iris”). Otherwise, keep a running list of all your Majel questions for when it is made available in the coming weeks or months!   Break away from long -term service provider contracts… enjoy the freedom of unlocked cell phones.

Cell Phone Pandemic – Texting / Talking while driving

By Megan Fleet

Cell Phone Pandemic – Texting / Talking while drivingWe’ve all heard the anecdotes and actually, you probably personally know someone who has been affected. It’s not AIDS; it’s not breast cancer; it’s not drunk driving. It’s texting and talking while driving. And in a recent Canadian survey (conducted by the insurance company Kanetix), 18% of the survey group admits to these cell activities while behind the wheel. The second question and perhaps more pertinent would be: how many Canadian drivers use a hands-free headset or other safety accessories? Bluetooth headsets and Bluetooth car kits accessories are proven to keep eyes on the road.

For smart phone users it is even more potentially treacherous when factoring in “playing games, checking social media, reading emails” and a plethora of other activities typical smart phone users engage in while driving.  In fact, in a study recently released by ComSource a full 70% of cellular consumers use their phones to text.  Discover the latest innovative protective solutions and premium electronic accessories from the industry’s most leading brands

So what’s the tangible toll of these actions? According to Allstate Canada a full 80% of collisions are caused by distracted driving – in fact the province of Alberta gets first prize for distracted drivers.  If that doesn’t drive the point home, the findings of a study conducted by the Transportation Research Laboratory in Britain will.  Alcohol intoxication impaired driving reaction time by 12%.  Marijuana? Reaction time suffered even more: 21%.  Sober texting hampered reaction time by 35%. Hazarding a guess that the roads would be exponentially safer with the sale of hands-free accessories for every unlocked cell phone sold.

Given the number of cities, provinces and US states that are taking legislative actions to improve public safety we may soon be legally mandated to use Bluetooth car kit accessories. Cell phone free zones are seen in school zones, texting is banned in a full 35 states in the US and awareness of the dangers is ever growing. Before your next trip in the car, you may want to peruse the accessories that will keep you and your loved ones safer.

What Is A Bluetooth Car Kit?

Bluetooth car kit is a device that allows people to chat on their mobile phones while driving.  With this device, there is no need to hold mobile phone in your hand while you are taking a call. This device not only allows you to drive the car safely but also makes you follow cell phone driving laws as using a cell phone while driving is illegal in many countries. You just need to have a Bluetooth enabled handset to avail the benefits of this amazing device. The device will be automatically connected as soon as the Bluetooth in your cell phone is turned on.

The easy to install Bluetooth car kits offer many unique and entertaining features as well. You can stream music wirelessly from your mobile phone through Bluetooth and listen to the music of your choice. Just press a single button to answer calls, end calls, adjust volume and more. Some Bluetooth car kits also come with an integrated noise reduction and echo canceling ability. Here are some of the advantages of using Bluetooth car kits:

Ease of Calling: The voice dialing feature of Bluetooth car kits allow you to make calls without taking attention off the road. You can easily place the call from the headset through voice dial, without picking up the cell phone.

Added features: Some Bluetooth car kits not only offer the ease of receiving and making calls but offer entertainment features also. You can keep on enjoying listening to music on your car stereo system without having to mute the stereo when receiving calls. The volume of music is muted by the car kit when a call comes and turns on when the call ends.

Easy to install: Bluetooth car kits are very easy to install, simply plug it into your car’s cigarette lighter and pair it with your Bluetooth enabled phone, and you can start talking.
