  • You may have heard about the popular application and desktop program, Dragon Naturally Speaking. The app and program allow you to speak into the device, which will then read what you have said and do all of the typing for you. The new app, Dragon E-Mail, will allow you to speak into the device to compose emails, use contact names and also automatically enter subject lines for you. This is great for on the go emailing when you do not have time to sit down and type one out, but would like to pass along some very important information. Dragon is a program that has been utilized by many, and has continued to expand from one platform to another.

The official site for Dragon claims that using the app can make your typing up to five times as fast as it would be on a regular keyboard. There are a number of BlackBerry devices that will be able to receive the functionality of the app including the Rogers BlackBerry Bold 9000, Rogers Bold 9700 unlocked and the TELUS BlackBerry Storm 2.

The company first became known for their excellent desktop programs that allowed users to type using their voice instead a keyboard. Since that tiem they have released a plethora of different apps for a number of different devices including the unlocked iPhone 4 and Android platforms.

The app has received rave reviews on most app marketplaces, and its inclusion in the BlackBerry App World makes a lot of sense, since the Dragon E-Mail app seems as thought it would be of the biggest benefit to on the go businessmen, which is precisely the demographic that the BlackBerry was created for. The app is already available in the BlackBerry App World marketplace, and user reviews are being posted by users that have downloaded the program.

  • RIM Filters Porn in Indonesia
Posted on January 14, 2011 by Pure Mobile

After the country called for RIM to filter the adult content that was being shown to unlocked BlackBerry Phone users in Indonesia, it looks as though they are going to have to buckle and give into their demands. The company has reportedly agreed to filter pornographic content on BlackBerry’s in India as a result of the government’s request that was made. This is not the first time that the company has had to accommodate requests from the government, but is the first time that they have agreed to filter the content that is given to their users. Apparently they would rather filter the content then have the BlackBerry be banned in the country.

They are working with the government to put the filter in place as promptly as possible, they said in a recent statement. The filtering solution will keep millions of Indonesian users from accessing the adult content. The fact that they asked Research In Motion to filter the content really shouldn’t be that much of a surprise to anyone. They first instituted an anti-pornographic material law in 2008 that filtered a lot of the internet content that was available at the time.

RIM really had no choice and was forced to give into their demands. Indonesia has previously asked the company to move some of its servers, which are currently located in Canada, to Indonesia so that they could keep a closer eye on the content that their citizens were looking at through their mobile devices. Working with governments to filter content is an increasing trend in the mobile industry, and this is one of many deals that may come into place in the future. It will be interesting to see if other filters are put into place as well in the future in other countries. RIM has made it clear that they are willing to work with governments on the issue.
