Report: Android Apps Make Only 24 Percent As Much As iOS Apps

    Show Me The Money!

When the sun never set on the British Empire, prisoners were being shipped to Australia as prison labor. Ship captains were paid by the government to transport these offenders – paid by the number of prisoners on the ship when leaving Great Britain. The result? Overcrowding, malnutrition, and death.

The government needed this free labor to tame the harsh continent, so how did they change the behavior of the ship captains? They changed the incentive. When ship captains were compensated based on the number of prisoners who arrived in Australia alive, conditions improved almost immediately and the labor source was preserved.

Apply this concept to application developers in the 21st century and the continued popularity of iOS with those developers becomes a lot clearer. When reviewing the number of mobile devices activated every day (550,000 Android OS vs. Apple iOS’s 450,000), logical math should lead developers to Google Android for increased consumer traffic, and in turn, revenue. Much to Google chairman Eric Schmidt’s chagrin (although he is in denial), app developers continue to create their applications with iOS in mind. Discover the innovative protection solutions which allow you to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes with our stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases. Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

Why? The money is with Apple devices. And Apple’s device accessories are more uniform and easier to develop for as well. When Flurry Analytics was reviewing analysis between the two platforms, the comparisons were sharp. Samples of in-app purchase data (those apps with more than a million daily active users that are available to both iOS and Android users) showed that the Google Android applications produced a mere 24% of revenue compared to Apple. But before jumping off the Android App Train, keep a few things in mind. Flurry didn’t release the details on what sample size was or other details of the analytical measures. Also, it was only in-app purchases tracked – not paid downloads. So while not conclusive, these numbers to point to potential motivation behind developer projects… And with iOS representing three-quarters of new projects started in the past six months, Google is figuratively still receiving a lot more dead prisoners. If they can change the motivation for developers, Android users will have the best of both worlds: unlocked phones, top of the line apps, and a powerful OS in their smartphone. • Nokia Might Juuuuust Be Right?

    Nokia Might Juuuuust Be Right?

Not to editorialize or personalize the matter too much, but this writer has to give points to Nokia’s Niels Munksgaard for his recent statement this Tuesday. As the company’s global director of portfolio, product marketing & sales stated, “What we see is that youth are pretty much fed up with iPhones. Everyone has the iPhone,” Munksgaard said. “Also, many are not happy with the complexity of Android and the lack of security. So we do increasing see that the youth that wants to be on the cutting edge and try something new are turning to the Windows phone platform.”  Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  Protect your devices from scratches and blemishes with our stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases accessories.

With experience in the antivirus, security sector... where strangely company policy dictated a move from BlackBerry to either an Samsung or an iPhone device, and also as a professional woman who has little patience with overly complex technologies, this statement seriously resonates. It also is on par with my company’s global mobile security expert. Nokia is potentially the Goldilocks option.

Any professional not immersed in creative fields with their attention buried in their Macbook, is familiar with Windows. Pair a familiar OS with a user firendly smartphone and there is a happy medium in a welcome user friendly interface, a warm familiarity, and - for the me-centric generation I belong to – a unique smartphone that I can further accessorize to let the world know what I stand for sans Facebook status update.  Enhance your mobility... turn your device into a power tool.  Discover select accessories, such as, stylus and pens, memory cards, data cables, chargersand other fun gadgets specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

    Nokia Might Juuuuust Be Right?

Having been a user of BlackBerrry (RIM OS), an Android (don’t even ask me the device manufacturer), and now an iPhone, I have long wondered if there was something between the two extremes. According the Munksgaard, Nokia is taking a different path as its competitors essentially recycle one another’s products. “The marketplace is extremely crowded. I refer to it as the sea of sameness,” the Nokia executive said. “When you walk up to a retail shelf at Phones4U and see the number of black mono-blocks sitting on the shelf, it is very confusing to the consumer. We want to deliver services and phones that are different.”  Conversely, it is the fashion and personalization through protective accessories (and shared accounts with other Apple devices acquired post iPhone) that will make a transition challenging.

To date, the Finnish mobile device manufacturer has released two Windows phones: unnder the the Nokia Lumia banner and all indicators point to another smartphone unveiling at the Consumer Electronics Show in the appropriately glitzy Las Vegas next month.

  • Google Android OS: Growing Goliath

Google Android OS: Growing GoliathDo you know what unbiased opinion is? No. Not teen spirit. It's the results from the report released by VisionMobile on Monday comparing the top eight open source platforms on the market. Not to be found under the shade of Google’s umbrella, this report sheds light on the marketing spin on Google’s Android OS.  .   Accessories are designed to protect, personalize and enhance your mobile devices.  Discover the innovative protection solutions that allow you to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes with stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside our brand nameprotection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression

Any newbie to the mobilization market knows that Apple’s iOS is a closed platform. It has also done remarkably well in winning over the creative geniuses in the sub-markets for apps and accessory creation. Google’s comeback to this success is that it is truly the best friend of app developers because of its “open source” concept.  Let  trend setting fashionable accessories express your unique style!  Discover an extensive array of award-wining design protective cases and skins that deliver modern style, stunning design and smart protection.  Make your mobile devices stand out.  Customize your look - how cool can you be?

True, the leviathan’s OS is more widely available to mobile device manufacturers and more easily distributed globally thanks to unlocked phones, but is it truly all that “open”? VisionMobile votes NO!   In fact, the new report ranks it the most closed of the open source platforms out of the eight reviewed projects. As can be seen in the Open Governance Index (please see below), an in-depth review of the relative openness for Android, Wt, Symbian, MeeGo, Mozilla, WebKit, Linux, and Eclipse yields results that defy the lip service of the Google executive team.   Enhance your mobility... turn your device into a power tool.  Discover select electronic accessories specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

    Google Android OS: Growing Goliath

By excluding licensing models and instead employing governance as a core metric, VisionMobile determined that Eclipse is actually the most open of these projects, pulling in a score of 84%. In contrast, Google’s Android came in dead last with an index score of 23%. With all the benefits of open source touted by Google, how does this add up?  XMI Speakers have built a reputation for delivering  uncompromised sound quality and a revolutionary design accentuating  today's interactive lifestyle.   Our earpieces and headsets combine sophisticated style and precision engineering that deliver brilliant sound for your total listening pleasure.

Follow the money. The firm concluded that the success of Android OS is in major part thanks to the significant financial backing of Google and its primary source of revenue. “Google has made Android available at ‘less than zero’ cost, since Google’s core business is not software or search, but driving eyeballs to ads,” the report states. “As is now well understood, Google’s strategy has been to subsidize Android such that it can deliver cheap handsets and low-cost wireless Internet access in order to drive more eyeballs to Google’s ad inventory. Get powered up for work, life and play easily and conveniently with desktop chargers, wall chargers and car chargers - all the power and energy you need for the mobile lifestyle.

    Google Android OS: Growing Goliath

This is no garage grown start up. Instead, Google’s global presence, billions of marketing dollars (grace a carriers and vendors) and a drive to gobble up Apple’s grassroots momentum are behind Android’s success. Not its open source licensing philosophy. Nor its iconic, proprietary devices and end-user inspired mobile accessories.

Perhaps Nokia’s CEO, Stephen Elop, stated it best this past June: “Apple created the conditions necessary for Android.“

Toshiba Thrive failed to thrive after its initial release. It was released in July and shortly thereafter, consumer complaints rolled in. While the Toshiba Thrive has many great features, it seemed to go into sleep mode for no apparent reason. To awaken the Thrive from its unscheduled naptime, users had to reboot. Fortunately, the Android 3.2 update resolves this annoying issue.

Toshiba Thrive Is Super Charged With The Android 3.2 Update

To update the Toshiba Thrive with Android 3.2 check for a message sent by Toshiba Service Station to your tablet. You may also tap on "Apps" and locate the Service Station icon. Tap on "Check for Updates" and follow the instructions. Once the installation is complete, it should alleviate the sleep mode issue.

The Android 3.2 update may boost the popularity of the Toshiba Thrive. The tablet and unlocked cell phones market is a competitive industry. In many cases, manufacturers rush to get their tablets and mobile accessories to consumers. This inadvertently leads to overlooked issues such as a device with flaws.

Toshiba Thrive Is Super Charged With The Android 3.2 Update

The Toshiba Thrive received high reviews from customers; however, the sleep mode issue ruined the experience for many customers. The features of the Toshiba Thrive such as the 10.1-inch touch screen made it a hit initially. Since then, the response to this tablet has been lukewarm. However, the Android 3.2 update resolves several issues and like tablet accessories enhances the performance of the tablet. It improves the acceleration and screen rotation. In addition, the update added support for Xvid, AVI, mp3 audio, and DivX.

The Android 3.2 update may help the Toshiba Thrive regain its initial popularity. Unfortunately, it is difficult to recover from a flaw that caused customers to become frustrated with the use of the tablet. The Toshiba tablet may thrive once again, providing this update truly resolves the sleep mode issue. If customers continue to experience this issue, the Toshiba Thrive table may be put to sleep permanently.  Protect, personalize and enhance your tablet performance with brand tablet accessories... from bags, covers, cases and stylus pens.
