Before the jailbreak incident, this alternative tablet was poised as promising market success. However, Google’s Android OS based tablets the iPad 2 and iPad 3 took and continues to hold consumer mindset and the lion's share of the market. If they can successfully lure in customers, upsell accessories and spin a silver lining around the cloudy RIM brand with the upcoming update... which is slated native email among other great improvements, the PlayBook and RIM can learn from 2011’s mistakes and launch itself back into an increasingly competitive market in an effort to carve out a niche.
