    MacBook Pro New Intel Chipset

What a nice change of pace to hear news about major improvement’s to Apple’s newest version of its MacBook Pro!   With mobile technology more prevalent in our daily lives, consumers are used to being inundated with updates of the latest tablets, smartphones and the like. And while Apple has done a great job of branding its Macs, we just don’t get as many updates on them.

Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  Discover the latest innovative protection solutions... stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases specifically designed to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

So without further ado, an anonymous source spoke to MIC Gadget about the possibility of Apple switching back to NVIDIA as the primary GPU of its upcoming Mac Pro. That change is not the only one expected with the latest version of the company’s swanky offering. Reports also indicate that the new Mac Pro will sport Intel’s upcoming Ivy Bridge chipset. This will result in a faster, more efficient processor than the Sandy Bridge processor thanks to 22 nanometer transistor technology.

Enhance your mobility and turn your device into a power tool!  Discover select accessories such as; stylus & pens, micro SD memory cards, batteries, docking stations, Bluetooth headsets, data cables and glider gloves all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

These new chips also address the overheating issues that have been problematic with past models with a 30% increase in heat dissipation efficiency. According to the MIC Gadget report there is some testing of 8-core processors with 20MB of cache that would really add some zoom zoom to the Mac Pro.

As it is typically the more creative and aesthetically driven set that reaches for Macs (artists, musicians, writers and the like), they will be pleased to know that NVIDIA’s “Kepler” platform was chosen for the graphics (this platform is slated to launch approximately the same time at the new Intel CPUs this year). But, as Apple doesn’t plan to unveil its latest Mac Pro line until third quarter of this year, additional details and changes are bound to come our way before the finished product hits shelves. Perhaps we will see peripheral devices at this year’s Mobile World Congress that will tie in Apple’s personal computer offerings to their strong line iYouNameIt.

    Android vs Apple

According to analytics firm NPD, Android managed to steal the top spot from iOS by a sizable amount following Q4 last year, making Google's mobile OS the more popular choice amongst newcomers to the smartphone market.

    Android iOS Apple Chart

First time smartphone buyers between October and December 2011 opted for an Android-based phone over an iPhone... that is 57% purchased an Android device, followed by 34% opting for an iPhone while the remaining 9% of buyers went with a different OS flavor.

Smartphone buyers in general, across the same time frame, helped narrow the gap between the two front runners, but Android still came out on top with 48% of the market over the 43% belonging to iOS users.

When one considers the fact that time buyers are more likely to put extensive thought into their first smartphone purchase and given the plethora of form factors and brands out there running Android, the iPhone might not seem like the obvious choice for everyone.  Moreover, while iPhone is currently running on three of the top US carrier networks... Android devices feature on all four of the leading carriers

Android continues to grow in the US, despite many already proclaiming its over-saturation in the market. Between both Apple and Google, they have accumulated the lion's share of sales, leaving only the scraps to the likes of BBOS and Windows Phone, but all good things must come to an end; the question is, when?

Which mobile OS (and mobile device) do you think is best suited for newcomers to the smartphone market and why? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

  • Android Secures 40% of Smart Phones
Posted on September 2, 2011 by Pure Mobile

The Google Android platform is one that has been constantly gaining popularity since it was first released. They have been able to put together a very excellent smart device operating system that has been able to be picked up by a number of manufacturers to allow them to place on their phones such as unlocked Samsung Galaxy S II, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. They were able to increase their total market share by 1% last quarter to grab a total of 40% of the US market device market. The Apple IOS stayed flat at a total of 28% of the overall market and research in motion Blackberry operating system continue to lose 1.2 fault to a total of just 19%.

Android Secures 40% of Smart Phones

The Windows operating systems, Windows mobile, along with the newer Windows phone operating system were able to take up a total of 8% of the market. Many of those who utilize Windows operating systems for their phone are still using the older operating system that was carried with many smart devices when it was first released. Microsoft and rethought their strategy as they saw their market share slip in and was able to release the Windows Phone 7 operating system which has been ahead for the company, but is the start of a very slow climb upwards and market share.

It is not currently clear if Android will be able to reach the 50% market anytime in the near future, but they seem to be slowly but surely climbing in overall market share for smart devices throughout the US. Reaching the 40% mark shows that there are going to be able to continue to climb, and they have already made themselves the largest operating system for smart devices on the market well ahead of competing Apple and Research in Motion operating systems. The trend will continue with Window Phone 7 perhaps making a small dent.

  • Tablet shipments such as unlocked HTC Flyer Tab are expected to continue to rise for the foreseeable future. Some of the analytical companies that have analyzed where they think the tablet industry is heading in the future could be a conservative number that we are looking at come 2017. Keep in mind that would be just short six years away, made some very bold predictions about the number of tablets that we see shipped. They have estimated the number of 250 million for the year 2017. This would be a very high estimate for shipments for that year and would really show that they have a very strong interest in me tell industry across the globe. Some of their less conservative estimations show that they believe that a total of 21 75 million tablets could be shipped in 2015. This was a number that was reported by IHS iSuppli, one of the larger tech analytical companies in the US."IHS-iSuppli"

Depending on the company that is making the prediction, all predictions seem to be in the same ballpark. They will reach an amount around 250 million within the next 4 to 6 years. They believe that the worldwide need for these tablet personal computers will rise over the course of the next two years, and will make for a very interesting next few years in the mobile industry."tablet"

A number of companies have made similar predictions over the course of the last few months, and it appears that all of the analytical companies seem to be thinking the same thing when it comes to tablet such as unlocked Motorola Xoom Tablet; that they are going to become some of the most popular items that you can purchase at some point in the near future. Tablets have been dominated by the iPod, but there is going to be a number of other options that are available, and you have to bet that one of them will be taking off in a similar way at some point in the very near future.

  • Although for quite some time it did look like the iPad 3 would be launching toward the end of 2011, it now appears as if the device will actually be launching in the early part of 2012. The good news for consumers is that the device will now launch complete with the retina display that has been so popular on the unlocked iPhone 4 that the company has released. A number of reports from multiple sources have claimed that the third generation of the popular Apple iPad was looking at a fall or winter 2011 launch, but it now appears as if those rumors were halted because of manufacturing issues that have to do with the highly popular retina display. Apple has reportedly been having a number of issues with their manufacturers to get things running in a smooth and suitable fashion."iPad 3 with Retina Display"

The problem came when they went to manufacture the iPad three 2048 x 1536 pixel display that was one of the selling points for the device. They were unable to manufacture the screen quickly enough for the device, and as a result Apple is forced to halt their operations and launch at a later date. It has been customary for the company to launch their devices during the spring, but it now looks as if we are looking at an early release next year perhaps before the spring during the later part of the winter."iPad 3"

It will be interesting to see how quickly they are able to launch the device in 2012. Apple is not a company that likes to fall behind their release schedule, and all of the problems that they inhabit their manufacturing companies over the course of the last few years have to have been wearing on them. It is not currently clear which manufacturing companies the problem with most prominently, but expect that information to be leaked at some point in the near future.

  • Foursqure, the popular check an app that has been integrated with a number FourSquare iOS App Update with Faster Check Insof different devices and social networks has received an update for the IOS client. The app is a popular one that allows unlocked iphone 4 and other iOS users to update their friends on where they are, where they will be heading, and where they have been in the past.  The app has been very popular over social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, and has been integrated into another of other devices as well.  Their app for IOS devices has been highly popular, and the new update should allow users to check in at different locations much faster than they did in the past.

The faster check-in process should be something that users will love.  The company gave a quick update earlier in the day and even demonstrated the new app through a YouTube video that was released. Before, checking in on the app would require a number of different steps that confuse some users.  Now, checking and will allow for users to do so in a few short button clicks with some Checkins being just one button click.

FourSquare iOS App Update with Faster Check Ins

The company also announced that with their newest update to the iphone 4 unlocked that they have reached more than 10 million users in total, making it easily the largest location-based checking in software and the world.  Although other companies such as Facebook have tried to emulate the software through their own portals, foursquare continues to grow at a rate that other companies can seemingly not will be interesting to see if the company can grow at the same rate that it has been so far.  The 10 million user mark is one that companies celebrate around the world, but seems to only be the tip of the iceberg for a program like foursquare that will undoubtedly become more popular as time goes on.

  • Details of the ongoing fight between Microsoft, Google and the US government have made their way online. The two companies have had disagreements over the type of software that they have been using. Google first filed a lawsuit against the government during the fourth quarter of 2010, stating that the Department of Interior claiming that their software was not given a fair look when they were making their choice. Ultimately, the government decided to choose the Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite over the Google Apps for the smart phone such as Sim free iPhone 4.

There were several channels that the software had to go through in terms of approval before it was allowed to be used by the government. One of those channels was receiving the official FISMA stamp from the General Services Administration.

Google Apps Premier first received the certification in the summer of 2010, and should have been available to be chosen. Google additionally created a Google Apps for the smart phone such as Sim free Apple iPhone 4 for Government version of the software that was even more secure than the previous version. Despite this fact, they were unable to get the certification for their Google Apps for government version, and claim that they were sabotaged by those within the government, resulting in their software not receiving a fair shake.

The government did end up choosing Microsoft’s software, but has maintained that their software was chosen for its security features and not because of any sort of inside conspiracy against the Google software.

The details that have leaked so far have not been confirmed by any party, and it would be surprising if any of them addressed the matter openly. In fact, you can bet that they will choose not to address it for quite some time - or at least until the lawsuit has reached its end.

  • Cisco is going to be restructuring their business, and has stated that they are going to be killing off certain parts of their business. They will make a larger effort to focus on the core of the company, including collaboration, services and video. Their popular camera, the Flip, will no longer be in the company’s plans as a result of their restructuring. The company has said that they will continue to support those that had already purchased the phone, but would not be dedicating any more resources to the development of the device.

They claimed that a larger profitability was the main reasoning behind their decision to restructure. In rent years they had moved more toward the retail end of things, when that was previously not the type of products that they had put forward. They are looking to get deeper into video and explore new ways to profit.

The company said in a statement that the company was making a number of targeted moves to end in a new platform strategy for the company. It is good to hear that they will continue to provide support for Flip users, despite the fact that they will no longer be releasing new versions of the device.

As Cisco’s profits have fallen in recent months, many have expected for plans to be made to change the direction that they were heading. Today’s announcement shows that they are now looking into their past and their future for new revenue sources and are concentrating on aspects of their business that they have a strong hold over.

It will be interesting to see if they release any more retail products like the Flip Video, or if they will take things in a completely different directions.
