We recently had a chance to view and blog about the leaked Sony smartphone roadmap. If this is to be believed we expect Sony to release three phones in 2nd quarter of 2012… these are the LT22i Nypon, the MT27i Pepper and the ST25i Kumquat. it is most probable that these three cell phones will be formerly announced by Sony at next month’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

From a leaked document found on an Indonesian website agency… which is the equivalent of the US based FCC has listed Sony’s code named ST25i smartphone as the new Sony Xperia U – thanks to GSM Arena for the provided specs. Above is one of the first leaked images of the new Xperia U which is a welcome addition to the Sony Xperia cell phone business line. Which makes wonder if Sony is planning to follow in Samsung- branded cell phones footsteps by creating an a plethora of Xperia models.

By Aldo Panessidi

During the Nixon administration the United States did the unthinkable and moved its currency off the gold standard. In the following decades, how we use money has continued to shift and change most notably with technology. The internet has made the world marketplace truly global and has made money again more abstract than tangible with wire transfers, online shopping, and faster payment authorizations with credit and debit cards.

This evolution of money exchange has continued with smartphones and apps. Which brings us to the pertinent launch at CES: moneto, the world’s first multi-platform mobile platform mobile wallet. Brought to us by Device Fidelity and Spring Card Systems, this service will bring NFC capabilities to any Android device such as the Samsung Galaxy S 2, the Motorola Droid RAZR and the Sony Xperia in tandem with microSD card.

The specialized encrypted microSD card has both an NFC radio and antenna that bring MasterCard PayPass technology to the gambit of Android devices out on the market. This means the capability to pay on the go and add funds to prepaid accounts with direct deposit, ACH transfer, or third party money transfer services like Western Union or PayPal.

iPhone customers also have great moneto options available to them. There is a unique iPhone protective case that will bring this same capability to iOS users sans microSD card. It is now available to iPhone 3, 3GS, 4, 4S users and retails for $80. This does include $10 in pre-loaded funds for customers to begin their fast pay adventures.

For Google Android users, the microSD card will be available in two or three weeks and be a bit easier on the wallet at $30. To take advantage of this technology, pop in the encrypted card, slap on a small NFC sticker to the inside of your battery case (this boosts the NFC signal) and transfer funds to free yourself from credit cards and make mobile payments. For Android users this also means freedom to enhance mobility and turn their device into a power tool! Discover select accessories such as; stylus & pens, micro SD memory cards, batteries, docking stations, Bluetooth headsets, data cables and glider gloves all specifically designed to make devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

No doubt, Nokia cell phone Lumia 900 made quite an impression at CES, but another (non-Samsung and non-Apple) smartphone contender made waves as well. That is Sony Ericsson’s Xperia S. Taking the approach of tailoring and optimizing software to the hardware, Sony has taken the familiar and effective Gingerbread OS and made a device that runs incredibly smoothly and also has the look and feel of a great smartphone.

Like the Nokia Lumia handsets, the Sony Xperia S smartphone is made of a single piece of high density polycarbonate which feels substantial and appears chic and modern. It also serves as a great frame to the 720p screen that uses the Sony Bravia Engine and fuses the LCD glass to bring down reflections. Let the latest in trend setting fashionable accessories express your unique style! Discover an extensive array of award-wining design protective cases and skins deliver modern style, stunning design and smart protection. Make your mobile devices stand out. Customize your look – how cool can you be?

Another impressive feature is this handset’s camera. For what it lacks in flashy new Android OS updates, a 12 megapixel rear facing camera that can be used with just the press of a side button – even when the phone is turned off! Incredibly zippy, this camera goes from zero-to-shutter in less time than the Galaxy Nexus. And, the photo quality far surpasses the competition as well.

Enhance your mobility and turn your device into a power tool! Discover select accessories such as; stylus & pens, micro SD memory cards, batteries, docking stations, Bluetooth headsets, data cables and glider gloves all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

Unfortunately, Sony Ericsson opted to use the Snapdragon S3 chip instead of the S4. Also disappointing is the lack of LTE on this device (which the manufacturer doled out to its AT&T exclusive Xperia Ion in the US). There are rumors that an LTE Sony phone will come Canada’s way in Q3, but in tech terms that is quite a ways out.

Some silver lining to the LTE regret is Sony will be bundling Video Unlimited support and the Xperia S is Playstation Certified which is great news for gamers who will have access to an ever growing number of PSOne games. This makes a case for purchasing better earpieces and headphones, speakers and additional MicroSD Memory cards to get the most of the device investment.

Canada should see this smartphone hit the market in March or so, but actual release dates and carrier availability are bound to follow, so keep tuned!

Seriously – how many blogs have you devoured to glean information and rumors of the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show? Then checkout our featured blog ‘All You Need to Know on CES 2012′ More specifically, how long have you waited to know what tech gadgets, innovative protective accessories, tablets, and smartphones are on the horizon for 2012?

Wait no more! Like kids in a candy store, new games, apps and mobile platforms are being devoured by attendees of this conference. The buzz will launch some lesser known companies that likely have ingenious solutions to how we can better integrate all this technology into daily life. Personally a handsfree accessory or app that would help keep my tablet free of messy hands while cooking would be amazing. Discover the latest in handsfree technology along with widest online selection of Bluetooth Headsets and BlueTooth Car Kits. Latest technology from top brand manufacturers. Hands free functionality is designed for the interactive ‘on the go’ lifestyle and allows for safe driving

While I am on the lookout for such technology, you may be more interested in Sony’s announcement at the CES. An addition to the Sony line of cell phones – the Sony Xperia S! The stats for this newbie are actually pretty impressive: 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch 1280 x 720 display, 1GB of RAM, and an unheard of 12 megapixel rear camera that is all the more impressive for its use of Sony’s Exmor R backlit sensor. Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky! Discover the latest innovative protection solutions… stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases specifically designed to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes. Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

For the media lovers out there, a 16GB and 32 GB model will be available. It is unclear why the Xperia S does not have a micro SD memory card slot for additional memory capacity as this is relatively standard to give customers more flexibility and the ability to purchase more memory cards as needed. Get powered up for work, life and play easily and conveniently with the latest collection of desktop chargers , wall chargers and car chargers. Get all the power and energy you need for the mobile lifestyle.

The sleek device will be made available worldwide beginning in March. What we don’t know is the pricing, whether one or both versions will be made available to customers as unlocked. Oh, and don’t forget – this girl is itching to see some smartphone accessories that better work in a woman’s world!

The world’s greatest tech show – CES 2012 – kicked off on Monday, January 9th… and will run until Friday January 13th.

With more than four decades of success, the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) reaches across global markets, connects the industry and enables CE innovations to grow and thrive. The show is produced by Consumer electronic Association, the preeminent trade association promoting growth in the $186 billion U.S. consumer technology industry. CEA represents more than 2,000 corporate members involved in the design, development, manufacturing, distribution and integration of consumer electronics products. All profits from CES are reinvested into industry services, including technical training and education, industry promotion, engineering standards development, market research and legislative advocacy.

This year’s show is held at the Hilton Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas and will cover more than 1.8 million square feet which is equivalent to 35 American football fields with over 2700 exhibitors and close to 200,000 attendees from across the globe.

Most of the leading smartphone and wireless mobile device (such as tablets) manufacturers and vendors will be unveiling their latest product and technology. In the same breath, these manufacturers will be showcasing their latest in innovative protection solutions… … stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases specifically designed to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes. Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

The following capture the most important CES smartphone and wireless mobile device news and product video overview:

Okay – in tech speak that translates into « where have you been all this year?! » But the sentiment is the same. The more we see of Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Arc HD (also known by the name Nozomi, the more stunned we are of the beauty of this devise.

Thin and super modern, this chic smartphone has a 1280×720 pixel HD display and is rumored to sport a 1.5Ghz dual-core Snapdragon processor under the hood. But for those who need more oomph of memory and electronic accessories are available to enhance phone features and functionality.

Another Google Android platform phone, this upcoming addition to the Sony Ericsson line features a 12 MP back camera, an HDMI port for 1080p mirroring and possibly a light bar for its touch buttons. What has been confirmed is that the Android OS will be the 2.3.5 Gingerbread will be the operating system upon release and then to be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich when Sony Ericsson is ready to roll. No news on whether this will be released as an unlocked cell phone that will be carrier agnostic, but those details are sure to be forthcoming.

Unfortunately, this little darling does not have a micro SD card port. Internal storage is either 16GB or 32GB. To cut down on space, there will be no micro SIM port. On more additional and important, but not so glamorous detail, is that the battery looks to be non-removable and of an unknown size. Again, these shortcomings can be addressed with memory sticks and the like once accessory manufacturers and Sony Ericsson let us know what will be compatible with the Nozomi. Accessories are designed to protect, personalize and enhance your mobile devices. Discover the latest, innovative protective solutions and premium electronic accessories from the industry’s most leading brands .

With the amount of buzz around this smartphone, our breath is still held for more details, release dates, and a slew of extra tidbits. Keep posted and keep shopping around! Enhance your mobility… turn your device into a power tool. Discover select accessories specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

Sony is taking full heed of the old adage – « Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. » While this is not quite how the phrase was made notorious by former President George W. Bush, but it is a sentiment that Sony Ericsson customers can relate to. Way back when Android released v1.6 (time being relative in the technology world) for the Sony Xperia X10, customers experienced an unnecessary amount of pain when attempting to upgrade their smartphones’ operating system.

Prior to November 14th Sony Ericsson did not have access to the Android 4.0 ICS sourcecode, so they pulled up their shirtsleeves and began adapting their different devices. Since the code was optimized to work with Texas Instrument chipsets, there were some inevitable delays as Sony Ericsson rewrote most of the code from Hardware Abstraction Layer in order to interoperate with Qualcomm’s hardware. In a heart-warming display of corporate collaboration… this software coding is being shared with Android and its open source project – perhaps hinting at a willingness to pursue carrier neutrality with unlocked cell phone releases in the future.

The behind-the-scene coding work ensured that the migration to the Gingerbread v2.3 was, like its name, sweeter and smoother, with significantly less customer trepidation. Moving forward, Sony Ericsson has opted to makeover all the 2011 Xperia devices with the Ice Cream Sandwich Android OS v4.0 – across all their Xperia brand portfolio – Sony Xperia Mini Pro, Sony Arc, Sony Ray, Sony Cedar and Sony Play). For those Xperia smartphone users that prefer more tangible upgrades, a physical makeover with updated protective cases and skins may be more satisfying while waiting for the ICS OS release.

In their efforts to effectively communicate the upcoming upgrades, Sony Ericsson has been very open with customers. This is great and all, but consumer impatience is setting in. After all, it’s the season for instant gratification – even if that new speaker dock for your smartphone has to sit on the closet shelf for a few weeks. To top off the impatience, some users still have some lingering concerns based on the Android 1.6 incident.

In true technology-forward fashion, Sony Ericsson released a detailed blog post which outlining the timeline of events for the ICS OS roll out. There is no firm date on when the ICS upgrades will be available to end-users as their mobile devices go through rigorous internal testing and then testing externally to receive certification from the various carriers.

The web based Hotmail application by Microsoft has been a staple online for a very long time. We’ve seen very few updates and things seem to be more or less of the same. With of 365 million users you would think that Microsoft would try and leverage their base into applications that are more mobile friendly.

Microsoft recently held a press conference called Give Hotmail a Second Look. It was designed as an event to showcase some new features of the service. Most were expecting and hoping for a radically change in the user interface to compete better with Google Gmail and other popular email based programs. Instead the new features are mostly under the hood and based around syncing you email with other devices such as unlocked cell phone like unlocked Sony Ericsson XPERIA PLAY 3G.

The biggest announcement is the launch of an Android app for Hotmail. The main features of the app are support for calendar and contact syncing as well as 2-way email. You can now also automatically categorize you mail into folders and easily trash any email you no longer wish to receive. Microsoft will even assist in the process by communicating with the sender for you that you are no longer interested in getting email from them. Another important feature is the ability to flag messages. Think of it similar to the Google priority inbox, you can make certain emails from certain people more important. There is also a useful scheduling feature where you can set instructions / filter up to automatically process emails a certain why once it hit a certain date.

The user interface has stayed the same but the new features are important to note as they help email management be a lot easier and also is starting to support native devices such as mobile phones like unlocked Samsung Nexus S. We assume that Microsoft will continue on the path of updating its services to stay in line with the times.
