Mobile phone giants HTC and Samsung ended last week on a rough note, falling short of sales expectations. HTC, in particular, was hit hard by a 83% drop in profits from last year, while Samsung, who still banked a cool $8.3 billion, fell short of their goals for this past quarter.

Cutting into both companies profits heavily were larger than usual marketing costs as both companies heavily pushed their flapship phones, the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4. Both gadget companies' fortunes now rest on their next wave of phones.

HTC is putting all their eggs in the HTC One Mini basket. The HTC One Mini is a smaller version of the highly-rated HTC One, and will reportedly feature a smaller screen and somewhat slower processor. For fans of the HTC One, don't worry, this phone still features that solid aluminum body that really makes the phone feel excellent in your hands.

Likewise, Samsung is pushing their own miniature device. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini follows the pattern of HTC's mini phone, featuring a smaller screen, and poorer performance to go with a less sophisticated camera.

Both phone companies are betting it all on smaller being better in the next wave of the phone battle. The battle is particularly important for Samsung, who rely on their mobile phone division to bring in up to 70% of their total profits. Samsung is also a world leader in electronic components and other consumer electronics. The company is also looking to up its cash flow to fund five new research centers to boost their Research and Development department. Also, not far down the road is the next phone from electronics giant Apple. Both companies have to have their eyes and ears open to see what the heavyweight smartphone maker has coming down the pipe and how it will effect their bottom line.

  • Samsung announcement of the London premiere of new Galaxy and ATIV devices Samsung announcement for the London premiere of new Galaxy and ATIV devices

For the past couple of months now at Pure Mobile, Samsung's Galaxy S4 has been the big talk. We've practically been eating, sleeping and breathing Galaxy S4 cases and accessories since the device's launch. And, as of this month, Galaxy S4 sales had started to close in on those of the iPhone 5.

But we can hardly expect this to be the last of Samsung's successes. And the company announced today that it will be holding an upcoming roadshow event, the "Premiere 2013" in London next month.

The teaser poster for the June 20th event mentions Galaxy and ATIV devices, so we're pretty sure the company will be unveiling its latest Android and Windows devices. As for the teaser pics on the poster, which don't exactly spell things out, Engadget thinks they could relate to a a tablet or phone, laptop, and camera:

"The remaining tiles show partial shots of three mysterious devices -- possibly a tablet or phone, a convertible laptop (à la Sony VAIO Duo 11) and a camera (maybe the rumored Galaxy S 4 Zoom?)"

Oh, and speaking of rumors...before its official unveiling, Samsung was touting the Galaxy S4 as "the next big thing." But a recent leak could suggest that that Galaxy S4's successor could actually be the next little thing.

According to BGR, which cites various sources, "Samsung is working on half a dozen different versions of its new flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone, including a more manageable variant called the Galaxy S4 mini."

And the fact that the device  – presumably a smaller-scale version of the Galaxy S4  – actually briefly showed up online in Samsung's official app catalogue for the UK indicates that this is more than mere rumor. Indeed, as BGR put it, "the phone has now been confirmed by Samsung, albeit accidentally."

So while we at Pure Mobile will probably still be obsessing over the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 accessories for the next month or so, we've got a feeling that, come the London event, we'll have an all new lineup of Samsung smartphones, tablets and other devices to sweep us off our feet.

  • OtterBox Commuter Galaxy S4 Case in White and Grey

For today's Pure Mobile accessory of the week, the name says it all. Designed for professionalism and portability, OtterBox's Commuter Galaxy S4 case has newly arrived at the Pure Mobile shop. And this awesome Galaxy S4 accessory is as slick as ever, ready to take on a heavy workload and follow you through the day.

We're no strangers to the OtterBox Commuter case at Pure Mobile. Rather, we've featured models of this carrying case for other phones, like iPhone 5, and even tablets, like the iPad. But as it comes to the Galaxy S4, we get another chance to shine a spotlight on the Commuter. And, boy, is this one busy little accessory.

Part of that has to do with just how many different way the Commuter case protects your Galaxy S4. Its multi-layer construction ensures that your phone is protected from as many harms as possible.

First, you get the self-adhering screen protector, which keeps your display clean, free of smudges, dust, and most importantly, scratches. Then, on the back, the Commuter case sports an interior silicone layer, which helps to absorb impact and cushions your phone from shocks.

Finally, on the outside, you get an armor-like outer layer of rigid polycarbonate which deflects bumps and shocks, ultimately protecting your Galaxy S4 in case of drops and more.

OtterBox Commuter Galaxy S4 Case multi-layer protection OtterBox's Commuter Galaxy S4 Case offer multi-layer protection

You'd think that all those layers add up to a bulky design. But this cool Galaxy S4 accessory is, after all, called the Commuter. And it couldn't live up to that name without being designed specifically for superior portability and ease of use. So the Commuter is actually a fairly slim and lightweight carrying case, easy to slide in and out of pockets and designed to allow easy access to all ports and controls.

Perfect for the professional on the go, the OtterBox Commuter is one of the best Galaxy S4 cases available for anyone who's looking for both thorough and rugged protection, as well as a sleek, cool look and ease of portability. And that makes it our accessory of the week.

  • iSkin Exo Galaxy S4 cases colors

With so many mobile accessories makers totally focused on making the next big accessory for Galaxy S4, you're bound to get a little overlap. And when it comes to carrying cases, there's not all that much room for variety, right? Not so, if you've seen the Exo, iSkin's latest and possibly best Galaxy S4 case to date.

Leave it to iSkin to do things a little differently. And with teh Exo, they totally have. Working with what's really a one-of-a-kind design centered around ridges that are easy to grip and offer up extra device protection, iSkin's managed to come out with Galaxy S4 acessory that seamlessly marries rugged practicality with a sophisticated look.

Here's the lowdown. The ribbed structure of the Exo case helps to disperse impact energy, which means its extra effective in absorbing shocks that come with bumps and drops. Meanwhile, its bezel-style design offers screen edge protection, something not all carrying cases can boast.

But this iSkin Galaxy S4 case doesn't just stop at protecting your phone from hazards you can see. With its patented Microban surface treatment, the Exo actually claims anti-microbial protection, so the surface of the case stays clean of odor- and stain-causing microbes and fungus.

But there's another side to the Exo we should mention. As iSkin puts it, "tough gets good looking" in the rugged sophistication of this carrying case. And a lot of effort has been put in here to give the Exo a cool, modern look.

Working on the priciple that "tough protection does not have to be bulky and unsightly," the Exo is surprisingly slim and compact for a case as protective as this. Boasting mix of high-gloss, brushed and perforated surface treatments, iSkin's come out with a look that's modern, high-tech and totally unique. And they're carrying in different colors too, from sophisticated black to more playful pink and blue.

Not only is the iSkin Exo a truly unique take on Galaxy S4 accessories that balances look with practicality and protection, it's probably the most effective and coolest Galaxy S4 Case iSkin has ever built. Now to see what they come up with next...

  • Samsung Clear Cover Galaxy S4 CAse in White

Today's choice for Pure Mobile accessory of the week is official. No really, it's official. Because, rather than reviewing a third party Galaxy S4 accessory, today's we're focusing on the real deal, with the officially-branded Samsung Clear Cover Galaxy S4 case.

Also known as the Samsung S View Cover, this carrying case bears the advantages of being designed by the same minds that made the Galaxy S4. And we were excited about its arrival even before it hit the market, as soon as we caught a glimpse of the preliminary list of Galaxy S4 accessories Samsung was lining up ahead of the phone's release.

Here's the lowdown. This thin, lightweight case has a precision molded plastic and silicon rear edge and transparent backing that mates perfectly with the Galaxy S4. Then, improving on a basic a folio design, its front cover features a display window. So, even though your screen is protected, you still get to see important stuff, like notifications, the time and other phone activity.

But here's what's really clever about this Galaxy S4 carrying case: your phone can actually tell when it's on, or whether its open or shut, and it displays information accordingly. Meanwhile, a magnetic trigger on the cover puts the device to sleep when it's closed and wakes it up when it's opened.

In other words, it's one of the few cell phone carrying cases that's actually perfectly integrated and in tune with te device it protects.

No surprise then that the Samsung Clear Cover – or S View, whatever you want to call it – has had its praises sung by many leading review sites. Pocket Lint ranked it among the "best Galaxy S4 cases" available now. And PocketNow called it a "flipping awesome" flip case, saying of the combo of display windown and wake and sleep functions:

"Standing alone, these two improvements don’t sound like much – but together, they fundamentally alter the way we perceive and use the case."

The Samsung Clear Cover (S View) case is probably one of the most advanced flip-cover cases we've seen for any device, let alone the Galaxy S4. From its slick, compact look to its intelligent design and total integration with the Galaxy S4, it's hard to beat. And it more than earns its place as our accessory of the week.

  • Otterbox Pursuits Series 40 Dry Box Case Black

OtterBox already has a reputation for rugged protection. With ultra-tough, super-engineered accessories like their Defender case for Galaxy S4, iPhone 5 and more, it's a reputation that's more than earned. But today's Pure Mobile accessory of the week, the OtterBox Pursuits 40 Dry Box, takes things even further than everyday protection.

A hardcore carrying case for real adventures, the Pursuits 40 is a modern reinvention of the classic outdoorsman's dry box. And of course, being the 21st Century, that means it's designed to hold your smartphone, as well as other survival gear. It's even got a mesh panel that can accomodate a slew of phone models, from the iPhone 4S and 5, to Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4, BlackBerry handsets and way more.

OtterBox Pursuit/40 Dry Box in Blue OtterBox Pursuits 40 Dry Box in Blue

With an internal volume of about 30 cubic inches, this totally waterproof case can take on a Galaxy S4 or iPhone 5 that's already in a case, with lots of room left over for  other things you'll need to keep safe and dry – valuables, bandages, ID, and small electronics.

Rubber mats on the interior cushion the contents from shocks and impact, while the rubber mesh panel keeps your phone snugly in place.

OtterBox Pursuits 40 Dry Box in Black OtterBox Pursuits 40 Dry Box in Black

And since this is after all an OtterBox case, the Pursuits 40 Dry Box is built like a fortress. This carrying case is not only completely waterproof up to 100 ft., it's also drop proof, dust proof and crush proof, tested to withstand up to 1,000 lbs. of force.

But just in case you're still worried about dropping it, the Pursuits 40 comes with carabiner loops that make it super easy to secure to a backpack or to otherwise keep close at hand.

We've already seen the level of protection OtterBox can offer when it comes to accessories for single devices, like iPhone and Galaxy Carrying cases. SO we can only assume that they've applied the same thoughtful design and rigorous testing to this larger, more robust case.

Perfect for adventurers, outdoorsy types and every kind of traveler imaginable, the Pursuits 40 Dry Box is a one-of-a-kind accessory that not only protects your smartphone the way only OtterBox could, but lets you go new places with total confidence in the safety of your valuables, electronics and survival gear. And that makes it our accessory of the week.

  • Samsung Galaxy S4 Flip Cover Cases colors collection Samsung Flip Cover Galaxy S4 Cases in a Rainbow of Color

Something fun and colorful is headed our way at Pure Mobile, with a punchy new collection of Flip Cover Galaxy S4 cases. The ever-popular Flip Cover has been one of the cornerstones of Samsung accessories, and is among the most popular carrying cases for the Galaxy S3.

That probably has something to do with the sweet simplicity of this Galaxy accessory. With a sleek folio design that protects your screen, it actually snaps on to replace your phone's back panel, so it doesn't add any extra bulk. And with a smooth leather cover, it's got more than a touch of sophistication.

Samsung Flip Cover Galaxy S4 Case in Light Blue Samsung Flip Cover Galaxy S4 Case in Light Blue

Of course, even with the flip cover, this case still leaves you total and easy access to all of your phone's ports and controls. And you don't have to remove the case to talk.

But now, as it launches for the S4, it's making its way to Pure Mobile in a fresh and lively lineup of bright, solid colors. From vibrant orange, to cool blue and sweet pink, we're loving the fun factor of this official Samsung Galaxy S4 case.

Samsung Flip Cover Galaxy S4 Case in Orange Samsung Flip Cover Galaxy S4 Case in Orange

Of course, if you're more of a traditionalist, you can still get the Samsung Flip Cover Galaxy S4 case in a more standard black or white, always a neat and professional option. But we'd still recommend adding a little color with one of the more cheerful models for a fresh springtime statement.
