  • LG unlocked cell phone has allowed for several hands on reviews of their new Optimus Black and Optimus 2X devices. Just before the Consumer Electronics Show, it is clear that most companies will be looking to build hype for their devices and one of the most popular trends for this year is to allow hands on review of these devices.

The Optimus 2X was the star of the hands on review, featuring a NVideo Tegra 2 dual core processor that runs at 1GHz in each of the cores. It is a very powerful mobile device that should be at the forefront of pushing the envelope forward. And offering processors that are the strength that was normally reserved for computers. The graphics on the device looked great, as did the screen. It is able to handle all that is asked of it from Android and moves very smoothly from one screen to another. The HDMI out port looks great when it is connected to displays up to 42 inches in size and no quality is lost on the conversion.

The Optimus Black also received rave reviews. It’s 1 GHz OMAP3630 processor paled in comparison to the Tegra, but was still plenty powerful to run Android and all that it requires. It is much thinner than the Tegra, and as a result is much more light. It is a well-manufactured and designed device that fits comfortably in the pocket.

The Optimus Blacks were also running Froyo, which is a highly hyped version of the Android operating system that allows the device to connect to other Android devices and transfer files peer to peer through long range connections. It also has a front facing, 2 megapixel camera that allows you to video chat as has become popular with many other devices.

Overall, both devices looked great and provided the features that everyone was looking for, exceeding expectations in the case of the 2x.

  • With nearly the entire world starting to pick up on the smart phone trend, it is a bit of a surprise that it has taken this long for the largest of companies to get serious about the implementation of security measures, especially with the rising prevalence of identity theft in an online data-rich world. Verizon recently announced that they were working with Lookout, a company that is known for their apps that use geolocation features for BlackBerry, Android and LG C900 unlocked Windows Phone 7 Devices. Verizon has phones that use all of the mentioned operating systems, and their deal with the small security company should help to ensure that no large leaks take place in the future.

In addition to the changes that Verizon is making, RIM announced that they would be releasing their new product, the “BlackBerry Protect,” which will lock and erase all of the data from a misplaced phone, as well as allow users to make wireless backups directly from their phone. This is needed especially since the Unlocked BlackBerry is a device that is mostly used for business situations, the data that could potentially be on one could be damaging in situations where it is stolen.

AT&T also has deals with McAfee and MobileIron on the table. They also recently announced that they would be opening a new security laboratory in New York City which would be charged with developing new security measures directly for the company in an effort to prevent malware, worms and other threats that have become so prevalent on PCs.

It is nice to see that these companies are taking the security of their users more serious. As things stand right now, far too little effort and investment has been put into the security of the users and this shift shows that companies are realizing exactly how much data they are trusted with on a monthly basis, and how important it is to some businesses.

  • Virgin will be releasing the popular “Project” magazine application for free to all of their unlocked cell phone users during the Christmas season. The application, which usually costs $2.99 will be available for download. The magazine, which Virgin has called a “revolutionary multimedia magazine” allows users to browse from one page to another through the application, opting to move away from the standard paper magazines that we traditionally read. The magazine comes complete with cover shots and all of the advertisements and full page photos that you would expect from a regular magazine.

The information in the app is updated on a daily basis. They focus their journalism efforts on international culture, design, and entertainment. In one recent cover of the magazine, Jeff Bridges is pictured in a story about his upcoming “Tron” movie.

The magazine has quickly increased in popularity in recent years and has continually attempted to change the way that magazine reading is viewed. They focus on providing smart, readable articles that deliver the information to the reader in an interesting way. Many of the pieces in the magazine have a slight-opinionated feel to them, which only adds to the fact that it is more entertaining to read, because you feel strongly about most of the editorial pieces.

This is a deal that you ca not miss if you are looking for solid information on international topics that are encompassed by culture, entertainment and travel. As Project continues to grow in size, you can bet that they will not have a deal this good again any time soon, so its best that you take advantage of it when you have the opportunity.

  • With CES just on the horizon, a lot of announcements are coming down the pipeline that could change the face of the cell phone industry. One recent rumor is that Microsoft will be announcing an upcoming ARM compatible version of their OS Windows Phone 7 like LG C900 unlocked. The Consumer Electronics show is a hotbed for all of the newest technology, and is the perfect place for Microsoft to make an announcement as large as this one. The new OS will run on ARM CPU architecture, and will be created to run on devices that have batteries including on netbooks and upcoming tablet devices.

This is a huge move and shows that Microsoft themselves are looking to break into the tablet industry, where Apple has already entered and more companies are following suit. Instead of waiting to jump in head first as they did with mobile, Microsoft is attacking at the source. With only a few weeks between them and their originally release of the Windows Phone 7 Operating System.

Some have speculated that this announcement could be the Windows 8 release announcement that was rumored not too long ago. Although there has been no confirmation from Microsoft that they are working on a new version of Windows, this shows that they will probably have to develop some sort of technology that is specifically designed to run tablet applications, as they often function slightly differently than they do on normal smart devices.

With the success of the Apple unlocked iphone 4, most guessed that Microsoft would be quick to follow suit and enter that market for themselves. Now, instead of creating their own tablets, it looks like they will go back to their roots and what made them prosperous in the beginning; operating systems. Giving users the ability to easily navigate and use the utilities they provide is something that set Windows apart int he 90’s, and they are hoping that it will in the twenty-teens as well.

  • With rumors of the Playstation Phone everywhere, Sony announced today that they would be adding Playstation app to their resume. The app will only be available for Android and iOS devices. The app will give users a number of options. Unfortunately one of those options will not be to play Playstation games on their phone. The app works in a way that is similar to the XBox Live features that are available on LG C900 Unlocked Windows Phone 7.

The app will grant you access to all of the most up to date news on the Playstation platform and will also let you see what your friends are playing and whether or not they are online. Now you do not even have to get up and walk to the Playstation to see which of your friends are online. If you are feeling like you might want to play some online games, simply look up who is online on your phone and see if anything catches your eye.

The app will launch first in Europe, including in France, Germany, and Spain. Sony also said that they were looking to expand the features and countries that will carry the app in the near future. This is to be looked at as a testing period to make sure that everything is running smoothly.

Unlocked iphone 4 iOS devices will have to be running version four or above to use the App, and Android phones have to be using 1.6 or a higher version. They did not announce when this would be coming to the US but if it is successful in its initial releases, you can expect it to make its way here very soon.

Here’s to hoping the next announcement from the company is the Playstation Phone which has had several videos of it released but has received no official confirmation from Sony Ericsson.

  • Could Nokia Start Using Windows Phone 7
Posted on December 21, 2010 by Pure Mobile

A recent rumor from Nokia insider Eldar Murtazin claims that Nokia is currently in the process of working on a deal with Microsoft that would allow for them to utilize Windows Phone 7 on their upcoming unlocked cell phone. The devices had previously used Symbian, but the operating system has not received good marks from experts or customers in reviews, and it is clear that Nokia will have to move away from Symbian if they would like to remain competitive in the market.

The CEO of Nokia, Stephen Elop has reportedly been conversing with officials at Microsoft for the past few months and has spoken with them about the possibility of them launching a Windows Phone 7 device in the near future.

Regardless of the decision that they make, Nokia still has a large place in the marketplace. Them adding a partnership with Microsoft into the mix would be to the benefit of both companies and would allow both of them to grow. Windows Phone 7 is known for being meticulous when it comes to security. Their WGA software will lock the phone down if it detects that you are messing with any of the inner-working software that runs the operating system, and Symbian is an operating system that is obviously on the decline.

It will be interesting to see what kind of devices Nokia releases. They have never been at the forefront of the higher-end devices, but a new partnership with a growing operating system might force them to look to more advanced devices in the future.

The rumor also stated that they were not just discussing the possibility of a single phone, but instead a line of phones that would be sold through the various channels that Nokia has at their disposal. It would be an interesting partnership to say the least. Both companies have made huge gains in the mobile market in recent years and it only seems right that they meet in the middle to continue their surge.

  • The unlocked LG C900 Quantam has received a fair amount of attention from the mobile community for being one of the first top of the line phones to use the Windows Phone OS 7 technology that many think will put Microsoft in the thick of the mobile industry in the coming years. The phone is one of the most solid devices for this operating system, and there are numerous reasons why it has continued to garner attention.

The ability to record HD 720p quality fit is a crowd-drawer. The Quantam allows you to easily share these videos with your friends or through your social networking accounts. Although the phone is only equipped with a 5 mega-pixel camera, it does have zoom and auto-focus support that allow you to take high quality pictures.

Its 1 GHz processor is more than enough to deal with all of the web browsing, app downloading and OS surfing that you will do, and the phone rarely shows any signs of lag. For those of us with XBox Live, the integration features that allow you to check your scores and gamer points are interesting, and fun to play around with.

The Microsoft Office suite also comes included with the phone. Among the programs that are int he package are Word, Excel, PowerPoint and a calender application. This will help you to stay organized and will also allow you to work on last minute presentations when you are in a rush. It is a surprise that they have not marketed the LG C900 Quantam of more of a business phone.

Overall, the LG C900 Quantam unlocked is solid, and is among the most highly regarded Windows Phone 7 Phones to don the highly anticipated operating system. It should be a solid competitor for other similarly priced phones, and is comfortable to hold and easily fits in most pockets.

  • The Unlocked LG C900 Quantam is a phone that has received a lot of attention since it was first announced. Its feature list is long, and the fact that it runs on the brand new Windows Phone OS 7 makes it all that much more appealing. The phone comes with a full QWERTY keyboard which makes it easy for you to communicate and social network, but also comes with a touchscreen and the ability to slide the keyboard up into the phone.

One of the biggest draws is that the phone allows you to record 720p HD video and share it directly with your friends. Available for AT&T, the LG C900 Quantam features a Qualcomm 1 GHz processor, allowing it to easily navigate through the operating system and all of the apps smoothly. At just over 6 ounces in weight, the phone is a little bit heavier than some of its competitors, but should still be pocket-able in most situations.

The touchscreen is very responsive, and is large enough that it is easy to use. The phone comes complete with Microsoft Office, which will help to keep you productive even when you are playing around on your phone and will also provide users with a 5 MP camera that has zoom and flash features to help you capture the highest quality of photos throughout your day.

Overall, it is a solid phone with no real drawbacks. All of its specs are high-end enough to make it a competitor of some of the more popular smart devices available today, but the verdict stills seems to be out on the Windows Phone 7 operating system, so it will be interesting to see how willing consumers are to adapt to that.  Regardless, the LG C900 unlocked handset is a great smart device that is easy to use and will provide you with everything that you are looking for in your smart device.

  • Google released some interesting figures today regarding the percentage of their users, and what version of their Android operating system that they are currently running. Stunningly, the information states that 83% of their users are currently running Android 2.2 or better, suggesting that Unlocked Motorola Milestone Android users are very likely to keep up on their updates, much more so than other platforms have previously reported.

Along with the 83% of the users that are currently running 2.1 or better, most of their users are actually running the newest version of the software, version 2.2, which 43% of their users are running. Most mobile operating systems are not able to garner anywhere close to this number of users running the latest version of the software, especially when the updates require that the cell phone companies release their own updates for their devices. The 2.2 update was in high demand when it was first released and has received quick attention from a number of different carriers and phone developers.

This makes it easier for Google to release updates for the their operating system, especially since they do not have to worry about huge upgrades for users that are still running on older versions of their operating system. Currently more than 10% of their user base is running Android 1.6 and 6% of their user base is currently running Android 1.5.

The numbers are fairly surprising overall. The nature of the market will always ensure that 100% of users are not running updated software, but a total of 83% using the last two versions of Android shows that users know how to upgrade their devices and are interested in the features that have been made available by Google through recent updates.
