  • There has been a lot of talk as of late about Nokia potentially being acquired by Microsoft. The rumors have stated that because of a recent deal between Nokia and Microsoft that will bring several devices to Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform such as unlocked Dell venue pro, LG C900, etc.. that we can soon here expect to see the companies perhaps merging, which would fall in line with what Microsoft is trying to do. A number of moves that Nokia has made in recent months seemed to support that fact, but taking a closer look we can now see that it doesn’t exactly look like the rumors are true, although you can never really trust what a CEO says in regards to huge rumors such as this one because would they really want to tell you the truth anyway?

The CEO of Nokia, Stephen Elop said on Wednesday that the reports that the company had agreed to sell the cell phone part of their business to Microsoft for $19 billion is not true. There were a number of well known media outlets that reported the rumor, which has been vehemently denied by the company. The news first came from industry insider Eldar Murtazin, who seems to be behind all of the biggest rumors - some of which have turned out to be true.

“There’s no basis for them,” said the CEO Elop when he was asked about the rumors. It was clear that he was looking to clear the air. While he claims that the rumors are not true that may just simply mean that a deal has not been done at this time. It will definitely be interesting to see if anything about this comes out in the near future, but as of right now it looks like there is no real deal in the works. He went on to say that Nokia has never even discussed a potential acquisition and said that he does not understand where the rumors were coming from.

  • New Sharp Android Phone Leaks
Posted on June 6, 2011 by Pure Mobile

A new Sharp Android phone has made its way online, and some of the details are suggesting that the phone could be the next version of the popular Sidekick. Judging by the pictures that have leaked online, it definitely looks as if it could be the next version of the Sidekick, although there is no definitive information suggesting that it is the Sidekick at this time. The reason that many people are doubting whether or not the device is the new Sidekick is because the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G was recently released and has been quite popular for the company that was recently acquired by AT&T.

    T-Mobile Sidekick 4G

The phone in the pictures shows a slide up screen in the same way that the Sidekick as used its screen for the last few years. The device will reportedly have a 3.2 inch display and will also have GPS and a HVGA resolution. Everything seems to be falling in line for the phone to be the next Sidekick, but do not expect the company to announce it any time soon.

It would not be surprising to see the next Sidekick be on Android such as Unlocked LG GW620 Eve, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc etc.., as they are looking to re-enter the US market in a big way. The device will hopefully have some beefed up hardware that will allow the phone to be used with some more popular apps and games.

Do not expect the company to comment on this story at this time. The picture that leaked is probably of a prototype and could be of a completely different phone, even if everything that can be told so far points to the phone being the next Sidekick. At this time it is not completely clear where the picture first surfaced from, which will further add to the speculation that the phone might actually be a prototype.

  • Have you ever wanted to mimic the way that the Bond characters drink in the movies? No matter what kind of crazy situation they seem to be getting into , the Bond character is always drinking an assortment of different drinks that would probably really mess the average person up. Somehow,t hey seem able to still leap from buildings, fight evil and get the girl at the end of each movie. Now, a new app, titled Bond Mixology will allow you to copy the exact drinks that the Bond characters had in each of the different Bond movies on your unlocked cell phone such as unlocked BlackBerry Bold 9780 3G.

The app allows you to select your bond movie, and then shows you which drinks, and at what point in the movie in drink is had, and then also provides the context in which Bond had the drink. Of course, you probably do not want to drink as much as the Bond character does in the movies because sometimes in the movies the drinks are supposed to be spaced out over a very long period of time.

For instance, the movie “Casino Royale” that stars Daniel Craig as bond, he has his first drink at 32 minutes into the movie, and then has another glass of champagne at the 37 minute mark, followed by a bourbon at the 58 minute mark, and a red wine at the 59 minute mark. This would definitely send anyone on their backside and would make for a terrible morning. At the very least, the app is a nifty one that allows you to experience the same type of drunk that Bond supposedly has throughout the movies. Remember, the app is a novelty and you should never over do it just because the app tells you to do so.  The app will probably be a popular one among the college crowd.

  • Have you been waiting for the famed “nodo” Windows Phone 7 update that was mostly famous for under delivering on the wants of their customers? The company first started offering the updates not too long ago, but disappointed customers when they announced that the copy and paste feature that they were looking for was not going to be available at the time. In fact, for most phones, they announced that they could expect quite a long wait. Then, there were problems with the actual update itself. Users were unable to actually receive the update, and Windows Phone 7 such as LG C900, Unlocked HTC HD7, etc.. analysts quickly backed off the roll out, saying that they were going to be taking more time to look at the current issues before rolling it out to other phones.

However, this has not lasted long. There have been a number of hackers that have put together a tool that will allow users to auto-update nearly any Windows Phone 7 device without official support from Microsoft. Keep in mind that there will be no support available on this update, so you should use the tool at your own risk.

The update hack came when Microsoft released a repair tool several days ago for phones that had been damaged during the previous failed update. It was supposed to fix a few minor errors that had afflicted some phones that had attempted to update. Upon closer inspection, hackers were able to actually deliver the full update to phones via the repair tool with virtually no wait for those that were willing to risk whatever implications may come. It certainly came as a surprise to many, and those that wanted and having been waiting patiently for the update can go ahead and implement it themselves if they are brave enough. So far, not many handsets have any too many problems, but the LG Panther has not been able to successfully update at this time. It will certainly be interesting to see how things turn out moving forward and whether or not Microsoft will try to shut this hack down or just let it run wild.

  • Although T-Mobile was recently acquired by AT&T, still many fans were anticipating the release of the T-Mobile LG G2x that was first seen during the CTIA Wireless 2011. The device will run the Android 2.2 operating system and has amazing specs that make the small device extremely quick. The device will feature a dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor that will be more than enough to power the operating system and then some. The applications during the hands on seemed as if they opened up and then closed seemingly instantly. The 4G network will also help to speed up the browsing of websites, creating an all-around very quick machine.

The G2X phone feels great in the end, and has the specs that match some of the top devices int eh space that are being released over the course of the next few months. One of the biggest complaints is that the screen seems to really hold fingerprints quite well. The device will also feature an 8 megapixel camera, which is above the curve in terms of phones with these devices.

Although T-Mobile has seemingly reached its end and will become a part of the AT&T network at some point in all likelihood, that does not mean that the G2x will not be one of hte most impressive phones released this year - that much is already clear from the hands on that was granted. The device will easily be one of the fastest available, the the company has managed to keep the battery life manageable.

Watch for the company to continue to expand the number of top notch smart devices that they offer moving forward. This is one of a few top tier smart devices that have been rumored to be coming to T-Mobile prior to the merger. It is not clear if these devices will be absolved into the AT&T brand name, or if the company will allow T-Mobile to continue to operate under its own name for the time being. From the hands on it is clear that the G2x will be one of the top flight smart devices in the world moving forward.

  • Windows Phone 7 Update Is Here
Posted on February 24, 2011 by Pure Mobile

Microsoft announced that the first update for their Windows Phone 7 operating system such Unlocked LG c900 is finally here. The update has been rumored to be coming soon for quite some time. Although it has been highly anticipated, some of the more prominent feature upgrades were not included. The upgrades that many were expecting, such as the ability to copy and paste, were mysteriously absent in the first upgrade for the operating system that is suddenly gaining a following.

It also does not include third party multitasking support, which was one of the biggest features that many thought may be included in the update. The update does provide users with a number of fixes, and is probably serving as a test run for the company to roll out bigger, more prominent features in the future. This might end up being a good thing, and allow them to seamlessly transition in the future when these features are added.

Users will likely first hear about the update on their phones. They will be notified directly on their devices. They will also need to connect their phones to a desktop computer in order to install the new software.

Now that the first update for Windows Phone 7 has been released, you can expect the company to more continually roll out updates in the future. With these prominent features not included, Microsoft probably knows that they are disappointing some users that were expecting to be able to copy and paste and also multi-task.

Microsoft addressed these issues on their Windows Phone Blog, and provided users with information regarding everything that is included in the update. They claimed that it is “praving the way for all future goodie-filled updates,” making it sound as if this update was a preliminary update more than anything.

  • The Unlocked LG Mobile Optimus Quantum is a phone that is not all that loaded with features, but nonetheless provides a great experience for end users who are looking for a Windows Phone 7 phone on a budget. It features a QWERTY keyboard that allows you to easily type out text messages, emails, or any other correspondence easily and quickly. The sliding out motion for the keyboard is about as smooth as it gets, and does not add too much weight to the phone as a whole.

The LG Mobile Optimus Quantum is one of just a few phones that provide a QWERTY keyboard in conjunction with Windows Phone 7, which should draw in quite a few users. It also features a 5 megapixel rear camera that comes complete with an LED flash to add extra brightness to your pictures. The camera is actually placed on the top center portion of the phone much in the same way that the HTC Desire HD camera is. It can be a bit cumbersome to use when you are trying to take anything but a portrait shot, but the flash feature makes up for this.

The edge of the phone features a several controls for the volume, and USB charger and a headphones socket. The LG Mobile Optimus Quantum unlocked handset has a great size that fits comfortably in the hand and also is not too heavy in the pocket, weighting 185 grams overall. This is heavier than many smart phones, but this can be attributed to the slide out QWERTY keyboard.

The biggest draw to this phone will undoubtedly be the slide out keyboard. It is laid out in a way that makes sense and is easy to use, and will probably be one of the best Windows Phone 7 OS devices that LG has to offer throughout the early goings of 2011.

  • If you are looking for a great phone on a budget, then you might want to consider looking into the Unlocked LG Mobile Rumour Plus. It is a phone that provides all of the usual functionality that is usually provided with low end smart phones, but is very light at only 119 grams, and is very easy to use. The touch screen is only 2.4 inches, but gives you more than enough room to select options, and comes with an excellent QWERTY keyboard that is large enough so that you do not have to worry bout hitting keys that you did not intend to.

It comes in two different color ways - blue on black, and red on black. The type sliding QWERTY keyboard is easily the biggest draw for a phone that also includes a two megapixel camera, which is far below the standard camera on most phones today. The battery life in terms of talk time minutes is currently sitting at around 240 minutes, with up to 270 hours of life if you are just letting it sit in 3G coverage on stand by.

The phone book can hold up to a total of 1000 contacts, giving you more than enough room to store all of your friends and family. The internal memory is 16GB, stored on a microSD. Although the phone certainly can not stand up to the standards set by current mobile phones, it is a great little device for consumers on a budget who are looking to save some money, and is a popular choice for individuals that are in between smart phone purchases.

LG has put together a solid budget phone that gives you all of the functionality of a normal smart phone without the hassles of a high price and features that you probably won’t use if you are considering the purchase of this Rumour Plus Unlocked handset. Look for LG to release more budget-minded phones throughout 2011, which is something they promised during the most recent Consumer Electronics Show.

  • T-Mobile has released information about the highly anticipated LG G-Slate, just days after information regarding the Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant 4G announcement. The tablet was first shown just over a month ago at the Consumer Electronics Show, and will be available to consumers in the spring. The device will have some very interesting capabilities that should allow it to be one of the more popular devices on the market.

The LG G-Slate will include a high definition 8.9 inch display that is capable of multi-touch technology. It will also be able to record 3D and full HD video, which is not something that we have previously seen from a tablet. It appears that the entry level tablet era has come and gone and now manufacturers are competing to include as many features as possible in their most recent announcements. The inclusion of these features should make the LG G-Slate one of the most highly anticipated tablets on the market during this upcoming spring.

The device will also feature 720p HD video playback straight from the device as well as an HDMI output that will allow for 1080p HD content to be played on HD displays. As far as hardware goes, the G-Slate will feature a dual-core, NVIDIA Tegra 2 Processor that comes complete with 32GB of storage and will run on the Google Android 3.0, also known as Honeycomb, operating system. The tablet should start to gain momentum now that it has been announced, and could potentially take on some of the biggest names in the space, including the Motorola Xoom, when it is finally released.

The fact that the tablet will be able to play high definition content on 3D TV’s should draw in users that own these television sets. So far, no tablet even similar to the LG Unlocked (G-Slate) has been announced thus far. It will certainly be interesting to see how well the tablet is able to perform in the first hands on testing sessions once we get a little bit closer to its release.

  • LG has set their sights high for 2011. Currently, they are the third largest device manufacturer in the world, only behind Unlocked Nokia Phone and Samsung, but that hasn’t stopped them from making an attempt to get to the top spot. They were able to ship out more than seven million smart devices in 2010, and they are looking to more than quadruple that number with their various offerings in 2011.  The target number that they outlined during a press event was 30 million, a huge leap from the number of smart devices that they were able to ship last year.

The Mobile Vice President of the Company, Ma Chang-Min said that they were looking to improve the number of high quality smart devices that they were offering this year, and also release phones for budget minded consumers that are not looking to invest in the latest technology.

LG unlocked phone looks to grow the number of phones that they offer as well as the features that are encompassed with these phones. With a lot of attention being placed on upcoming phones like the Optimus Black, which has been highly anticipated and well reviewed, it looks as if the company is getting off on the right foot this time around.

Although they have a long way to go to meet the 30 million mark that Chang-Min announced today, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if they were able to hit it. The number of phones that the company has on tap for 2011 is a huge list, and with the quality that they provide you can expect a few of them to take off in popularity fairly quickly. It remains to be seen if they will hit their 30 million mark, but at least they are setting their sights high and continually trying to gain ground in the ever-changing mobile market.
