  • It seems that a new Droid is being planned for launch next week. A recent press release statement released on the internet has shown that Motorola and Verizon Wireless plan on coming together for this latest unlocked smartphone release. Although nothing has been disclosed, it is stated that the new mobile phone to be released will be named the Droid X and will work on Google’s Android.

There have already various leaked photos on the internet showing the Droid X. Though nothing has been officially declared as yet regarding the dimensions of the Droid X, from the pictures we can see that it is most probably that the screen size of the Droid X will be a mammoth 4.4 inches. This would make it much bigger than even the EVO 4G. You can expect to have a wonderful touch screen experience from such a large mobile.

It has also rumored that the latest version of MotoBlur will be included on this device, which means that you will not face any problems like on the Motorola Unlocked Backflip. At the same time, you can expect the camera to have a minimum of 8 MP as well as the ability of recording video at 720p. You can also be sure that the latest version of Google’s operating system, Android 2.2 will be loaded on the Droid X, which will be powered by a 1GHz processor. Most other connectivity options that are currently available on other mobile phones of such quality are sure to be included as well.

Although those that have gotten the specs of the Droid X  seem to be quite fascinated and awe struck by it, you can be sure that the combination of Google, Motorola and Verizon Wireless are sure to throw up more surprises in the weeks to come. When this new Droid finally hits stores around the country, it will have ushered in a new wave of smartphone along with the iPhone, EVO 4G and the myTouch 3G Slide.

  • It has now been revealed that a Sprint employee who leaked sales information of the Unlocked HTC (EVO 4G ) has been fired. The employee, whose name has not been released, disclosed information regarding sales of the HTC EVO 4G on the XDA-Developers forum. However, the information that was released turned out to be fake and so it is safe to assume that the employee is now regretting what he did.

While the actual number of units sold on the first two days was 66,483, Sprint had released a statement stating that sales of the HTC EVO 4G had resulted in record breaking numbers. In fact, it was claimed that the number of phones sold was so great that most stock supplies had sold out.  However, a later retraction by Sprint stated that the total number of HTC EVO 4G phones sold was on par with those of the Samsung Instinct, and Palm Pre combined and not greater.

While it is anyone’s guess as to why Sprint might have fired the employee, here is one guess. The number of 66,483 is well, quite unflattering and as such it might only include the sales from the actual Sprint stores and not fromother retail stores such as Radio Shack, walmart or Best Buy. In other words, there are chances that there would be a much higher sales figure, had such success also been included in the final sales total. But since the employee had already published the figures, it reflected quite poorly on Sprint and after tracking him down, Sprint must have let him go.

Sprint managed to find the employee located in Florida and sent a member of their taskforce to personally let him know that he was being let off. However, according to us, Sprint went through all this trouble mainly on account of the fact that they thought they would have sold many more products. Do you think, if Sprint managed to sell 300,000 HTC Unlocked ( EVO 4G ) mobiles they would have gone through such trouble.

Today it was announced that AT&T would be chosen as the carrier for HTC’s Aria, a new unlocked smartphone that makes use of HTC’s Sense user interface and is powered by Google’s Android. Fitted with a 3.2 inch HVGA screen that is fully touch compatible, HTC Aria also makes use of the latest version of Android and has a 5 MP camera with video capture and autofocus as well as an optical mouse. Supporting quad-band GSM/EDGE and 850/1900MHz 7.2Mbps HSPA, it is powered by a Qualcomm 700MHz processor. Other specifications of the HTC Aria include an external 2 GB microSD card that comes packaged with the phone, but can be extended up to a maximum capacity of 32 GB. There are also other features of the HTC Aria such as a digital compass, G-sensor, and proximity sensor.

According to HTC, the phone will be made available for $230 on 20th June. There is also an offering of $100 by AT&T for its promotion card. The HTC Aria is sure to be a very powerful addition to other smartphones currently being released by AT&T. When users decide to go ahead and pick up the HTC Aria, they would be amazed with the ease at which it is possible to operate the phone. A combination of the 5 MP camera, Android 2.2, 3G connectivity speeds as well as a fast and responsive touch screen, make this mobile one of the best to have come along in a long time.

Thebest thing about the HTC Aria is that it is also compatible with the 7.2 Mbps AT&T High Speed Packet Access technology.  Through this technology it becomes possible to boost 3G speeds immensely. • A recent announcement by Sprint regarding the release of Unlocked HTC (EVO 4G) with WiMax resulted in most mobile enthusiasts going bezerk. There was just one problem with the release, it would go live in only certain cities such as Lubbock and Texas, while other bigger cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York missed the cut. While many were disappointed at this development, they need not be as the Sprint WiMax is now being rolled out in these metropolitans.

There have been multiple claims from people in cities such as Los Angeles claiming that they have started seeing pop ups of Sprint WiMax on their HTC EVO 4G devices. However, this is only limited to a few areas within the city. Certain selected areas like the west side of town, downtown as well as locations near the 405 freeway have reported such sightings on their Unlocked Mobile Devices. While there has still not been any official confirmation from Sprint with regards to this provision of Sprint WiMax in these areas, we hope to have an official release statement from the website in a few days.

There have been rumors of Sprint doing some testing in certain areas of Los Angeles and so in case you currently experience Sprint WiMax, do not get your hopes too high as it could be revoked any time soon. Sprint has confirmed that WiMax will go live in Los Angeles later this year, however, there has still not been any actual date confirmation. If you do happen to stumble upon an area with such WiMax/4G network, chances are that it is purely due to some testing that is currently going on by Sprint in that particular area. Sprint is undertaking testing, building as well as optimizing of the network before finally deciding to throw WiMax open to the public. So when the testing phase is done with, be prepared to go to WiMax-less phones.

  • Remember one of our previous articles stating that there were an unbelievable number of sales made by Sprint in the sale of their HTC EVO 4G? Well, apparently it did not happen. Sprint says that it “miscalculated” the number of devices it actually sold. We had earlier reported that the EVO 4G carried by Sprint had broken its earlier records in a single day and sold three times the number devices that the Samsung Instinct and Unlocked Palm Pre devices sold in their first three days together. This came as quite a surprise to many around the country.

However, a retraction statement printed by Sprint suggests that it had overstated the total number of devices sold on launch day, “inadvertedly”. Instead of selling three times the number of devices of the Samsung Instinct and the Palm Pre, the EVO 4G sold a total number in line with these two phones. A press release of Sprint acknowledges the error  stating, “We had previously stated that the total number of launch day sales of the EVO 4G was six times greater than the sales of the Samsung Instinct for the same day and nearly twice that of the Palm Pre. While sales for the HTC Unlocked ( EVO 4G ) continue to rise, we erred in comparison of these phones as the total number of sales of the EVO 4G were in line with those of the Instinct and Palm Pre. We now acknowledge our error in judgment and state that the total sales of the EVO 4G on launch day were in line with those of the Instinct and Palm Pre over the first three days.”

Well, there you have it, a complete apology directly on the website. So what is the final word? While, we should credit Sprint for actually going ahead and printing an apology, they should have really got their act together in the first place before going ahead and publishing untrue facts.

  • The EVO 4G released
Posted on June 9, 2010 by Pure Mobile

Although you might have heard of the fact that there are many different hacking communities all over the Internet having been able to obtain unrestricted administrative rights for the unreleased version of Sprint EVO 4G, nothing was officially released. But now with the newly released Unlocked  HTC ( Evo 4G ), you can make sure that you have in your hands one of the best smart phones around. Just released for sale in the United States, the HTC Evo 4G has been taken issued to the mobile carrier Sprint and is available on a two year contract for a price of just $199. At an additional cost of $10, you would be able to add data as well to your two year contract. Complete with an on-screen presentation of 480 x 800 pixels and the 4.3 inch TFT screen, you can make use of the eight megapixel camera along with the inbuilt flash to record high definition videos. With a fixed width 512 of RAM and an internal memory capacity of 1 GB, you also get an included 8 GB external memory card together with the 1.3 megapixel front camera.

While rumors are also doing the rounds on the internet that it is possible you can get the device for $140 through Wirefly, you are advised not to as the amount of trouble you have to spend on it is too much. At the same time, if you do go to the Wirefly website to purchase the HTC Evo 4G , you would realize that there is actually no mention of the extra $10 you would have to pay for the 4G service, irrespective of whether the service is available in your area or not. Frankly speaking, it is best that you get the HTC Unlocked ( Evo 4G ) together with Sprint as it can save you much ado.

  • Earlier today T-Mobile announced that the HTC Unlocked ( myTouch  3G Slide ) will become available to shoppers on June 2nd.  While the myTouch 3G Slide is nowhere near the most advanced Android smartphone on the market many people are very excited about its pending release.  This particular handset will come with the Android OS which is quickly becoming the most popular operating system for cellular devices.  In addition to that there will be many top notch features included with the myTouch 3G Slide that is easily going to this a great smartphone.

T-Mobile announced this device will carry a price tag of $179.99 after a $50 mail in rebate.  This price is being deemed on the high side by some people as it is only $20 cheaper than Sprint’s EVO 4G that is projected to launch 4 days later for $199.99.  While you may be paying almost the same price with the myTouch 3G Slide I think that this is still a good deal for this type of smartphone.  With a large touchscreen, sliding QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth and the latest Android techonology the $179.99 price tag does not seem to be asking that much for this particular handset.

Along with all of the great features and specs associated with the myTouch 3G Slide you will also get T-Mobile’s network which is one of the best networks you can join.  Rarely do people have any significant issues while using T-Mobile’s cellular network and I would not expect things to change when using the myTouch 3G Slide.

  • Due to an inadequate supply of parts there has been a widespread shortage of HTC Unlocked (Incredible) Android devices according to Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam.  While having been unable to stockpile enough key components such as the WVGA capacitive display assemblies manufactured by Samsung, entire shipments of the HTC-made Android smartphone are selling out within hours of their arrival at retail stores.  According to McAdam the shortages are so severe that Verizon Wireless has had to pull way back on the number of deliveries in order to focus on online sales.  If there had not been such a shortage of handsets the Incredible would have easily outsold its predecessor the Motorola DROID.  Roughly 100,000 units of the Incredible were sold in the first two days this device was on the market.  Verizon’s website claims that orders for the Incredible will be fulfilled by June 3rd.

It appears that the demand for the Droid Incredible has far exceeded Verizon’s expectations.  This is good news and bad news for the cell phone manufacturer.  Of course it is great news that their new Android device is such a big hit with consumers but it is unfortunate that they are unable to keep these smartphones in stock due to an inadequate supply of parts.  The HTC Google Nexus One Android gadget was predicted to be one of the hotter Android devices on the market when it was released but I am willing to bet that many industry experts did not foresee this shortage of units.  Nor did they ever think these devices would be selling out within hours of being delivered to stores.  Hopefully Verizon gets their act together quickly so that everyone who is eagerly waiting to get their hands on one of these new smartphones can do so before June 3rd as Verizon mentioned.

  • Earlier today cell phone network Sprint announced that the forthcoming HTC Unlocked (EVO 4G) will be one of the first mobile handsets in the US to support live video chats.  The application that will be used for these video chats is being provided Qik, which already offers a live video streaming service for smartphones.  Sprint did not mention if this feature would incur extra charges on top of the required data plan.

The new HTC EVO 4G can also handle simultaneous voice and data sessions in 4G markets.  This new phone will also be able to stream HD video content.  According to Sprint it will be the first mobile device with ability to watch YouTube videos in “high quality.”

The HTC EVO 4G will require a $70/month Everything Unlimited plan and WiMax 4G access will incur an additional $10 per month which is mandatory for certain 4G devices no matter if there is WiMax coverage or not.  Consumers can also choose to make the EVO 4G hotspot available for up to eight devices for an additional $30 per month.  The HTC EVO 4G is set for release on June 4th.

As if we needed more features for the Unlocked HTC Phone ( EVO 4G) to get us excited about its pending release on June 4th Sprint makes this announcement today that this device will be able to handle live video chats.  Consumers are already excited about the reported speeds of the 4G network and the high quality video that is supposedly going to accompany the HTC EVO 4G.  Now with this announcement that people will be able to hold live video chats on their mobile devices will surely prompt a few more consumers to purchase this new mobile device when it finally hits the stores.

  • In a recent call to discuss their first quarter earnings Clearwire mentioned that WiMAX-capable phones bearing the Clear name from both Samsung and HTC Pure Unlocked phones are “expected” to be available before 2010 is over which appears to be pretty optimistic based on earlier comments from the company stating that consumers should not expect any WiMAX phones before the end of 2010.

Clearwire describes the Samsung device as “an Android based 3G/4G/WiFi device optimized for heavy video and video communications use,” while the HTC handset does not mention a platform and is simply called “a 3G/4G/WiFi enabled phone.”  The lack of a platform for the HTC is leading many industry experts to assume that this device will be running Windows Phone 7.  If this is really the case it is understandable why HTC wouldn’t want Clearwire to mention their HTC device will have Windows Phone 7 since HTC themselves have not made any formal announcement for plans to jump into the Windows Phone 7 market.

This announcement by Clearwire is pretty optimistic news about the potential of having WiMAX devices on the market before the end of the calendar year.  Especially since Clearwire has already gone on the record saying to not expect any WiMAX devices before the end f the 2010 this news is especially exciting.  Add in the fact that it appears Unlocked HTC Pure is working on a Windows Phone 7 device and this announcement has the chance to be one of the biggest announcements of the year in the smartphone world.  It looks like we will have to wait a little while for official word on this Windows Phone 7 device from HTC but from what I have been reading about the potential for some of these upcoming Windows Phone 7 handsets I can not wait to hear what HTC is looking to put out on the market.
