  • We did have major reports that the CyanogenMod 6 will be coming out on the Sprint Unlocked HTC  EVO 4G Phone. However we did not really have much of a time frame attached with the release but as per what we have seen recently, the CM 6 is ready and is running pretty well on the EVO 4G.  This is a welcome change from the Sense UI which in our opinion was getting somewhat cumbersome and posing a large number of problems for the users, Although the Sense UI has been a worth service provider for the user but the in built Android UI is far easier to use as compared to this one. This however is a departure from what is was before.

We believe that the CyanogenMod 6 will grant the EVO owners a great feel for the Android 2.2  phone or the Froyo and allow them to escape the HTC custom skin on the Sense UI.  In fact the faster the new ROM is launched on the EVO, the faster it can get the update for the Froyo which it could not have done otherwise. The release date for the update was around Christmas. In a statement given by the company, they have said that they would prefer picking the early release of the Froyo on their phone almost half a year ahead of time, to sticking with the Sense UI. Furthermore what has pushed this decision of theirs is the fact that CM 6 other than getting Froyo out early on the HTC EVO 4G also has great amounts of features like the facility which allows you to pair it with a mouse via Bluetooth. What you can do is you can then connect the video output through a HDMI port and you have a proverbial computer on your hands. This is amazing in our opinion. According to us, it is not long till we see this update and more in the market.

  • Qt Developer Network Launched
Posted on July 21, 2010 by Pure Mobile

Qt has quietly launched the Qt Developer Network in Beta and offers the usual content such as blogs, wiki, forums and Fads that are available in any standard site for developers. But reading the blogs available in the site, you get to learn that in the near future they have plans of including Ovi account integration, groups, eLearning content, a books section and videos on your phone. All this is said to be done with the clear intention of bringing more developers on board.

Nokia, the owner of Qt has taken a different route with this approach because clearly it was earlier thought to be unlikely of the electronics mogul to create a separate site for its developers, one which is not part of the Nokia Forum although it still remains to be on Nokia’s domain. Now there might be an answer as to why Nokia decided to make the site go solo. Although nothing can be said with surety, Nokia has some strategies one of which is the “attract developers” strategy which is all very complex but might be where the answer to the above question lies. The two platforms that Qt supports namely the Symbian and MeeGo has other licensees such as Sony Ericsson Unlocked handsets, but these users linking articles on a site that has brand Nokia all over it like the Forum Nokia, is unthinkable. This is the closest that one can guess to be the reason behind Nokia’s innovative decision.

Since the Qt supports and works on two platforms-the Symbian and the MeeGo and also works on smartphones running other operating systems along with this, Nokia has high expectations surrounding this venture and sources from inside the company also says that they expect to dominate developer site market with this venture. But that again is a different story and only the future will tell what is in store for them.

  • In this highly mobile world, trends that have just kicked in are gotten rid off immediately and a much newer trend is then adopted. With the Unlocked Droid ( X) from Motorola and Incredible from HTC covering the elite section of Verizon’s smartphones, the older ones such as Droid, which hits its eight month, and Devour, which hits five, are taking the back seats. Although Verizon will still continue selling both their products, Motorola will be pulling back their any further supplies. So make sure to decide fast if you want your Unlocked Motorola handset because these stacks are soon to be cleared for fresher stocks to arrive. Like the former mentioned Motorola, a few others will be soon following suit, and in the mad rush to aim for the better and newer and more sought after models, these too will also be shown the door.

The 9630 tours by BlackBerry did not make it to the cut like Motorola’s Droid X and will soon be cleared from most stores. As mentioned previously all precedent older mobiles, which have already had their fill of success in the market will soon be out. The Blackberry Unlocked  9650 Tour will be replaced by Bold 9650 accompanied by the much sought after Nokia Twist. Samsung’s feature phones too have been treated the same way as they lost the crunch, although that was always expected. These changes are a sure sign that no longer will phones be tolerated as only newer models of cell  phones are being sought after by customers. The Droid on one hand drove a heavily successful campaign in the advertisement world, which ensured their stay.

The need to replace older stock models can be easily seen from the fact that many customers plan on purchasing newer models instead of older ones as newer models usually have better features.

  • As the big names in the world fight it out amongst themselves, every step they take defines the future of the company. Even the slightest mistake can be catastrophic in nature for them. And even the biggest names are not devoid of errors. Apple had so far been basking in their own glory, with the new Apple iPhone 4 causing quite a stir in the technological world. And still they found themselves in a tough spot when they earlier acknowledged the fact that the unlocked  iPhone 4 was far from perfect and that the antennae was the cause behind all problems although it did manage to sell over three million sets. While the engineers from Apple are trying to work out a possible solution to this predicament, Apple on the other hand is ready to compensate for their folly and is trying to provide consolation by means of free iPhone cases. In short, if you are facing similar problems then Apple would be more than happy to provide a case for no cost at all, including free shipping charges. According to us, although such mobile cases are not the same as an iPhone, it is at least something, which is better than nothing.

To add to their consolation list they are also offering a whole variety of choices to those who are entirely unsatisfied with the whole deal and think that providing free cases is not enough. For them Apple is willing to give hundred percent refunds if they return the iPhone to them within a month of their purchase date. And since that month is not yet over that would imply that anyone who bought it will be eligible for the return. If you are thinking otherwise, a free case for your iPhone 4 unlocked handset sounds tempting enough. In fact it’s not a bad deal, right? Surely a case would eat away a little on the glam quotient but it would still be a lot easier for you as data transfer becomes faster than it currently is. In all probability, the case would be one that you will like, as has been the trend with Apple products.

  • It might not be a pretty smooth move but Windows have decided to use their own shortcomings to take a dig at their competitors Apple. With the release of the Windows Phone 7, the company decided to take a few pot shots at their primary market competitor Apple, for the problems they were facing with the unlocked iPhone 4 and its reception. In a recent event, the chief operating officer of Microsoft, Kevin Turner, remarked that the Apple iPhone can become their Vista and that Microsoft was happy about it. Furthermore, he also said that with the Windows Mobile 7, the customer would not have to hold it a certain way to use it.

These remarks are not very different from what is going on around the market but according to the market trends, the sales of the iPhone 3GS Unlocked Handset are not really down. The device has already sold over 1.7 million sets all over the world and there is no sign of the sales slowing down. Even as a lot of the techs review and such companies are chucking their recommendations for the iPhone 4 unlocked gadget, the iPhone is selling like hotcakes around the world. These comments though were made at a Microsoft event which focused largely on their new Windows 7 phone which we think is a hit in waiting for the software giant. Personally we feel that Microsoft should concentrate on what they are doing with their phone rather than attacking Apple.

The interface on this phone looks nice and goes a long way from the previous designs and the layout of the icons are very easy to use and does a lot for the users. Navigation is also quite user friendly. The only thing we can do for now is to just wait for it to release in the market.

  • HTC has seemingly taken up their fight in the mobile phone market where so far major players like Unlocked Motorola Phones and Samsung have a free reign. After a series of new phones from the latter two, there are some more specs of the soon to be released Unlocked HTC ( Ace ) and Sabor which has come to our attention. What we see here is really amazing and encouragingly, but we feel that the specs can be produced by the next year, latest. The Sabor alongside the Ace forms a duo of two phones which are said to be the supped up versions of the EVO. The Sabor is supposed to be the EVO 2 for the Sprint and the Ace is said to be the GSM version of the EVO.

As far as specifications go, what we are certain of is that the Ace has been slated for release with the Android 3.0 or the Gingerbread which is however, still a distant dream. Other than that, there is the new super AMOLED screen and 1.5 GHz processor which will make this phone smooth to operate. There is also an 8 GB camera and a 1.5 megapixel camera in the front. In terms of process speeds, the figure of 1.5 GHz is pretty believable as the specs of 2 GHz are also being talked about. However, the only thing lacking in this phone is the Sense UI which makes for a rather good looking device. With this, one could have designed custom skins and got the phone to look the way they wanted. Sadly, Ace from HTC does not carry Sense.

As we said earlier, the Ace is the GSM version of the HTC Unlocked (  EVO ) Handset and the upgrade on this phone is pretty good but not revolutionary. Keep your eyes on this to know more.

  • AT&T is soon coming out with the Unlocked Samsung (Captivate) and is soon to be followed by the release of the new entrant into the Android market, the AT&T Dell Streak which will soon hit the stores on sale. While some of its specs are pretty cool and it has a big screen of around 5 inches, the fact that it will carry only Android 1.6 is a bit of a downer as this may just be a factor which dissuades a few people from buying this phone. We honestly feel that Android 1.6 will not really cut it in today’s market. Anyway let us see what the specs are on this one in general.

Dell’s new Android phone however will be getting an update of the Android 2.2 the Froyo but sadly the timeframe has not been set yet and this could be a deciding factor. The phones both have pretty big displays. Captivate comes with a 4 inch display and the Dell Streak carries a 5 inch display. However the Captivate scores much higher as it comes with the excellent new super AMOLED which means that this phone will so easily score more than the Streak among the people who want a better picture quality on their phone. Nonetheless the competition is pretty good and both phones are up to the mark in their certain way. The Streak unlike the captivate has two cameras which means that you can have some video chat going on and therefore the multifunctional aspect of this phone does score somewhat.

These two ones are by far the best Android phones that have come up from the house of AT&T like Motorola Backflip Unlocked handset and we do think both are pretty worthy competitors in the smartphone market. However, in spite of everything, we would like to recommend the Captivate over the Streak.

  • As the speculations regarding the effectiveness of 4G technology reach new heights, a fresh surveyed speculation from In-stat reportedly shows that 4G technology in cellphone will not be given the welcome expected by the world and will only be embraced by North America and western Europe as its deployments will commence this year. The majority of the world is still in its drift towards getting accustomed to the already existing 3G technology. Some of the facts stated by the In-Stat reportedly say that the WDCMA and other subscription will increase by a considerable amount of over twenty five percent in the next four years. Another detail shows that more than ten LTE deals will be passed or granted in the first four years of this year. So you should be expecting it soon enough. By this year the technologies based on CDMA hike up to a worldwide subscription amount of over five hundred and fifty million by the end of the next four years the 3G subscription in the western countries of Europe will hike up to a walloping number of just under five hundred and fifty million. All these are gathered by the estimation survey by IN-Stat and you will have to wait and see it for yourself whether they actually come near the factual tally.

The survey quite surprisingly left out Japan, a country whose technological advancements can match any other country and who have throughout provided competition for their western counterparts. It was expected of them to lead the 4G revolution. This almost remains quite a mystery as one of the foremost pioneers of technology was allegedly abandoned in the tally. Although they did support the LTE cause, they have so far kept a low profile. Even so, it is expected of them to make the switch over to 4G fully in phones within a couple of year’s time. Thus, we see that as the big names in technology join the stride towards a smarter and much advanced world, more and more people are actually embracing the fact and adopting it, making them more accustomed to the ever-changing world.

  • Femtocell developers, Ubiquisys, have managed to round up a whopping $9 million through extra funding. This was primarily led by 5 Continents Consulting Group (5CCG) and needless to say this event has been quite outstanding. Other prominent companies were involved in this grand event, which has led to Ubiquisys bagging this enormous amount of money. This money is going to spend wisely in developing new innovations in femtocell technology. This can eventually lead to femtocell being deployed in different significant places where it can be put to productive use.

Ubiquisys has been proving their quality for a long time and was the first company to break the $100 price for femtocells. The possibilities of using femtocells have become unbelievable and thus Ubiquisys can indeed be of immense benefit to everyone.

Ubiquisys has interesting projects coming up to get the maximum out of the femtocells. The prospects look bright and they are sure to bring about several new changes if the $9 million is spent wisely. They have always delivered quality whenever they were tested and they are slowly becoming bigger and better. Femtocell technology has really taken off since the work done by Ubiquisys. They deserved this and they will surely put the money to good use in proper time.

5CCG’s Founder and Managing Partner, Michael Bornhäusser has been quite vocal in the support of Ubiquisys and is highly optimistic about the future of Ubiquisys. He believes Ubiquisys has become a worldwide phenomenon and have started to deliver a lot lately. Femto market has really been in the rise and Ubiquisys has been instrumental in providing such a situation. It has superior technology and is possibly on the verge of making history. The money will be of great value if it can be used to better the femtocell technology.

  • PriceGrabber on Android
Posted on July 18, 2010 by Pure Mobile

After coming out onto the iPhone and iPad as the app, the PriceGrabber has finally decided to make the app available to the Android users. PriceGrabber has tied up with Google to bring with itself all the facilities that one can get on their web page. This is available as an app which can be accessed on the Android Market and can be downloaded directly onto your phone. This one can be really useful for the customers.

With this app, there are several nice features which you can get. You can actually scan the bar codes from the products and compare rates of the product from different retailers whose numbers are in the thousands. The layout of this app is pretty user friendly and searches are really fast. It makes the task of searching for the best deals really easy. With the PriceGrabber, you can compare the prices of the goods from several retailers which will help you get the cheapest prices. Furthermore you can also calculate the products bottom line price and check how much the product will cost inclusive of all the taxes like shipping. This can be incorporated by way of GPS or by just entering the zip code of your area where you want to buy the product from your Unlocked Cellphone. There is also another add on like the Gift Shaker where you can check on the products according to the price and category that you want. The PriceGrabber gives the facility of pulling down product reviews which are written by experts and suggestions for buys.

Finally once you have selected the products that you want, you may add them to a dedicated list of favorites which you can keep. Therefore the PriceGrabber is a kind of definitive must have for buyers.
