4G NetworkA new report from industry luminary ABI Research indicates that more than 50% of all unlocked cell phones will be capable of running on 4G or 3G data networks.  Jake Saunders, VP of Forecasting for ABI Research suggests that . “As the festive cheer of the holiday season dies away, the mood among handset vendors remains quietly confident regarding 2012.   The outlook will yield growth in the order of 8%, netting 1.67 billion handsets shipped worldwide by the end of 2012. Particularly notable is for the first time, 3G and 4G handset shipments will capture more than 50% of total handsets shipped."  The consumer's appetite for  high end mobile devices will also drive the after sales cell phone and tablet accessories market.

Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  Discover the latest innovative protection solutions... stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases specifically designed to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

In an earlier report ABI Research identified the worldwide after-market wireless devices accessories sales increasing to more than $50 Billion by 2015.  Key accessory market indicators were identified as:

Protective Solutions - Bags, Sleeves, Cases and Screen Protectors - $1.2 billion

Hands Free Solution - BlueTooth Headsets and BlueTotth Car Kits - $920 million

Power Solutions - Desktop Chargers, Car Chargers, Wall Chargers, Batteries - $766 million

Memory Solutions - Micro SD Cards and Data Cables - $529 million

    Personalization Solutions - Cases & Skins - $520 million

Audio Solutions - Speakers, Earpieces & Headsets - $308 million

In the second half of 2011, top tier mobile device vendors unleashed marketing promotions targeting the upward mobile market audience in emerging smartphone and table markets.   Samsung, used clever ads downgrading Apple users while extolling the benefits of the Galaxy S II X phones and Galaxy Tablet lines of business to make substantial inroads  into these market spaces. Apple is expanding sales channels in emerging markets, with greater success in China than it’s having in India, but is also targeting South American markets such as Brazil. HTC is gaining traction in China, but developed markets such as North America and Europe continue to be the mainstay of its “ship into” markets. RIM, despite its weakness in apps-capable smartphone markets, continues to do well in messaging-centric emerging markets such as Indonesia. Nokia hopes to benefit from Windows Phone 7 Lumia series launches in India (Dec-2011) and China (in 1Q-2012).

  • 2012 Mobile Tech in review

The changing of the guard from one year to the next brings inevitable changes. This is especially true with mobile technology which is arguably one of the most competitive and innovative segments of the tech industry as traditional feature phones and carriers are challenged with smartphone technologies and apps and unlocked phones.

So even if you keep half an ear to the latest happenings in this niche of the world market, there is a plethora of information, rumors, and announcements to keep track of. To help make the focus more manageable, here are a few noteworthy notices to kick off your 2012 mobile tech watch.

First, the continuing saga of the king of feature phones as it endeavors to make its mark in a smartphone world: Nokia. The mobile OS this manufacturer chose for its foray into smartphones is Symbian. Clearly this pairing didn’t fare well in the global marketplace. As a farewell gesture that is bound to drive the final nail in the coffin of Symbian, Nokia has opted to rebrand its latest smartphone as Nokia Belle. No Symbian to be mentioned in association again it seems. Perhaps the best rebranding for Nokia would be launching a new tablet featuring its next mobile OS choice.

    Samsung Galaxy Nexus S

Not to be left out, Google Android is bound to make this list. And, it is no surprise that it is causing waves with its much-buzzed-about OS upgrade: Ice Cream Sandwich. Global rollouts of this Android 4.0 update were supposed to have begun for Nexus S customers a few days ago, but according to the Google Community Manager, Paul Wilcox, announced that they are pausing updates to better monitor feedback for a while (this sounds oddly familiar to CarrierIQ scandal which highlighted the benefits of customers choosing unlocked devices).

On a more positive note for Google, they are now globally activating approximately 700,000 Android devices daily. The company’s willingness to work with many manufacturers (creating more opportunities for customers to choose carrier neutral unlocked phones), is significantly contributing to their continued growth around the world.

To follow on the heels of Google’s customer driven philosophy, carriers are having to fight the loss of their exclusivity on smartphones, tablets and accessories by dropping their prices. Recent reports show that 4G LTE pricing may drop by as 60% by 2016 as the additional speeds aren’t worth the cost for heavy users and the carrier specific devices that enable 4G are markedly more expensive than their 3G counterparts as well.

It is common knowledge that both Apple and Google are the foremost thought leaders in the technology industry and as a result have secured global dominance of the smartphone OS market space. What is surprising is reviewing the numbers and trends that show an astronomical growth for the two giants over the course of 18 months. As can be seen in chart provided by comScore - the leading provider of online digital world measurement metrics - U.S. mobile subscribers are used to demonstrate the dramatic transition in market shares in the ever growing smartphone market. Discover the benefits of online shopping.... experience the largest assortment of wireless device accessories at the lowest prices on the Internet.

    Google Apple Market Share

In less than a year and a half (between August 2010 and November 2011), the combined U.S. market share for Google and Apple - based on the number of mobile subscribers of iPhones and Android phones - jumped from 43.8 percent to 75.6 percent! When one considers the exponential growth of the mobile market and the rapid consumer adoption of wireless devices such as unlocked cell phones and tablets as well as for the associated branded protective accessories... it becomes apparent how staggering the revenue potential of these combined markets really is.

Another drastic market shift is the fall of beleaguered Canadian high-tech giant, Research In Motion. RIM has been plagued with technology based challenges, security issues, lackluster apps, production setbacks, numerous litigations and dismal product design, which all contributed to its fall from grace. Losing subscribership in the 18 month period, RIM’s BlackBerry market share dropped from 37.6 percent to 19.7 percent. Microsoft didn’t fare any better when it’s popularity poll was cut almost in half. Lastly, market laggard, Palm who? Enhance your mobility and turn your device into a power tool! Discover select accessories, such as stylus & pens, SD Micro memory cards, batteries, speakers and glider gloves all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

    Smartphone Market Share

So how and why did Android and Apple win over so many consumers? Analysts and industry experts seem to agree that unlocked phones for carrier neutrality, provided subscribers with the freedom to break away from being tied in with long term service provider contracts and negotiate lower priced service plans that best met their lifestyle needs . Secondly, the branding of not only the device, but the wide array of innovative top brand accessories drew customers in. Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky! Discover the latest innovative protection solutions of stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases specially designed to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes with our. Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside our brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

A classic attribute of technology is that it continuously evolving at light speed into more powerful applications and features.  In stride to technological advances, consumer’s behavior has consistently kept text messaging a repeatable revenue source and a sustainable ROI for service providers and carriers across the world. Alas, the halcyon days of text messaging may quickly be coming to a close if recent reports are any indication of trends.  Experience the convenience of online shopping for unlocked cell phones and mobile device accessories.  Discover wide selection of top quality, innovative protective bags, sleeves and cases as well as premium electronic accessories from the industry's most leading brands.   An accessory solution for every lifestyle... this is personal. This is you.  This is shopping simplified.

AT&T and Verizon Brace For a Shock As Texting Declines

A recent column in Forbes outlines that text messaging rates are declining in many countries around the world. The report metrics were based on the text messages sent this past Christmas Eve as it is one of the highest messaging days of the year.  As Tero Kuittinen, the author of the article and a senior analyst for MGI Research wrote of the Finnish wireless carrier: Sonera - 'As the major carrier of the Scandinavian country, it is a great marker for that country’s trends. Christmas Eve of 2010, 10.9 million messages had been exchanged. The same day a year later saw a drop to 8.5 million.  This kind of decline was also seen in Hong Kong and other highly populated metropolises... with the fall off may being as high as 14%.  Get powered up for work, life and play easily and conveniently with the latest collection of desktop chargers, wall chargers and car chargers.   Get all the power and energy you need for the mobile lifestyle.

These numbers may seem contradictory considering how consumers leverage cell phones foor both communications and as a pocket PC.  Do we talk more? Nope. Traditional texting is down? Yup. Are we using our phones as a multi media tool? You betcha. So where does this equation balance? The word “traditional.” Organic Facebook and Twitter support on Apple and Google smartphones is changing how we communicate. Add in email and free messaging apps (MMS versus SMS) and there is a recipe that doesn’t bode well for carriers and cuts the bonds of contracts and messaging packages that have lined their pockets for approximately 15 years.  Discover the widest online selection of Bluetooth Headsets and BlueTooth Car Kits.  Latest technology from top brand manufacturers.  Hands free functionality is designed for the interactive 'on the go' lifestyle and allows safe driving

When considering the increasing popularity of unlocked phones and the growing power of mobile consumers, this news should be closely considered by US carriers like AT&T and Verizon. Kuittinen noted in the Forbes article that for these major American carriers the next few years could see their earnings growth markedly decline. No surprise when “as much as 20% of carrier earnings are derived from text messaging.”  These players will seriously have to reconsider their strategy and plans to capture the business from unlocked phone users and the continuing evolution of messaging.

RIM Radically Slashes BlackBerry PlayBook PricesWhen Research In Motion rolled out its answer to Apple’s iPad, the Blackberry Playbook, a loyal RIM community of customers eagerly awaited the release of the Canadian company’s tablet.  While market anticipation was high, sales have shown, that the Blackberry's PlayBook has not stormed the tech world as hoped. In fact, the debut of the BlackBerry tablet seems to have marked a snowball effect of bad news and lost credibility for RIM in 2011.

Before the jailbreak incident, this alternative tablet was poised as promising market success. However, Google’s Android OS based tablets the iPad 2 and iPad 3 took and continues to hold consumer mindset and the lion's share of the market. Apple's breakthrough marketing strategy was the catalyst that actually created the both the tablet market consumer demand. State of the art accessories? Customer driven innovations?  Unfortunately, RIM marketing campaign for the Blackberry PlayBook was not revolutionary enough for a discerning public. The bottom line of this failure in mediocrity was a $485 million loss in the third quarter of 2011 due to the PlayBook's sluggish sales.  Let our  trend setting fashionable cases and skin accessories express your unique style.  Make your mobile devices stand out.  Customize your look - how cool can you be?

Throughout the holiday season mobile retailers and device manufacturers alike look to close out the year’s sales strong. Research In Motion was no different except that they started aggressively dropping prices in an attempt to clear out the excess inventory. These discounts did appear to help both RIM’s and their distribution partners move units of the QNX based tablet. Enhance your mobility and turn your device into a power tool!  Discover select accessories such as; stylus & pens, micro SD memory cards, batteries, docking stations, Bluetooth headsets, data cables and glider gloves all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

RIM Radically Slashes BlackBerry PlayBook Prices

With any luck, RIM can recoup some losses, move the tablets, and start out the new year on a higher note. To kick off these goals, they are making all three of their PlayBook models for $299. That is an outrageously steep $400 discount off the 64GB version. In addition to these discounts, the company would be smart to pair it with promoting the accompanying tablet accessories.

If they can successfully lure in customers, upsell accessories and spin a silver lining around the cloudy RIM brand with the upcoming update... which is slated native email among other great improvements, the PlayBook and RIM can learn from 2011’s mistakes and launch itself back into an increasingly competitive market in an effort to carve out a niche.

With the big mobile conference in Las Vegas this coming February that is certainly going to drum up a big buzz for the upcoming 2012 device releases; to this end, you may get inundated in the coming months about what the year will bring. With great mobile innovations like dual-core processors and 4G LTE brought to market in 2011, this year in review was impressive. While hard to trump, the 2012 line-up is being touted as bigger and better.  Here is a snapshot of unlocked cell phones to be dialed into.

    LG Optimus LTE
Smartphones to Keep on Your Radar in 2012 and Other News

LG is looking to break into the 2012 smartphone market with vengeance as some of the LG Cell Phone lineupe rocking the latest in Android OS: 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Using the power of social media, the manufacturer announced via Facebook that in the second quarter of 2012 a number of their LG  Optimus cell phones (the Optimus LTE, Optimus 2X Prada, Optimus Sol, Eclipse and myTouch Q) would have shiny and new Android platforms. Hopefully they will give us more information on up and coming accessories to keep pace with the new technologies.

    Apple iTunes annual giveaways

Unlike the RIM app giveaway that ended December 31st, Apple is continuing their annual download giveaway through January 6th. The free music downloads were kicked off by Coldplay tracks and videos (no surprise as they feature materials from the Apple sponsored festival where the band performed). With the savings on downloads, customers will have a bit more pocket change to invest in an upgraded  screen protector or jazzier protective cases and skins.

    Santa Prefers Apple

With sales numbers coming in, the eCommerce company, RichRelevance, has released numbers that indicate that iPhones and iPads accounted for a whopping 92% of mobile purchases made this December.   Let's not forget the consumer appeal for other Apple devices including MacBook and iPod This is a significant uptick from the numbers released in April 2011 by the same eCommerce firm. A mere eight months ago, the Cupertino based company made up 88% of non-desktop online shopping.  One has to wonder how much that would go up if Apple made unlocked smartphones more available to its adoring public.

Speculations that Apple would lose its steam with its loss of Steve Jobs at the helm are coming up to be nothing but hot air and competitor's wishes.  In a survey conducted by Alpha Wise on behalf of Morgan Stanley, Apple is poised to sell as many as 190 million iPhones in 2012. No doubt, the continued strength of the brand will also lead to higher iPad tablet sales.  As always there is a plethora of accessories including bags, sleeves & cases, docking stations, micro SD memory cards and speakers as well other accessions which will continuously fly off the shelves too.

The 2012 Gossip Mill Spotlighting Apple, RIM, and Samsung Samsung, you continue to capture us with your Galaxy cell phones and Galaxy tablets product line… next on the line in the rumor mill is a branded variant of the 5.3 inch device said to be coming to the AT&T lineup early 2012.  Samsung’s “Note” made it through the rigors of the Commission and was expected to make a US debut, but again, it’s thought to be a disappointing update: a color variant of the international mode currently available. Until 2012 consumers won’t know if these U.S. versions will be unlocked devices or again tied to AT&T.  Experience the widest online selection of Bluetooth Headsets and BlueTooth Car Kits.  Latest technology from top brand manufacturers.  Hands free functionality is designed for the interactive 'on the go' lifestyle  and allows safe driving

Translation can be a tricky business – remember Babblefish? These same limitations and inaccuracies are found in some smartphone applications. Luckily, there are a fair number of educational app options now available that may come in especially handy for the international traveler or language learning aficionado. Buyers beware – read user reviews and be prepared to shell out the money for a quality app. Also, high quality earpieces & headsets are a great investment to get the best experience out of the app investment.

There are definitely two sides to the coin of Research in Motion’s announcement at this week’s quarterly earnings press conference. The manufacturer informed the public that its next generation of BlackBerry smartphones will not make an appearance until “the latter part of calendar 2012.” Originally slated to hit the market in the first part of 2012, the set back could indicate that they are reviewing the recently jailbroken OS (currently on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and expected to be used on the next gen smartphones). This could be a smart move if done properly. Giving themselves time to work out bugs, regain its reputation for security, and smooth over the debacles of 2011 could staunch the business loss.

One last reminder: Blackberry readers and users, go get your free gift! A few weeks ago we let you know about some lovely apps being made available free by RIM. The question remains – will the goodwill gesture help heal some of the debacles of the past year that include the foundation rattling PlayBook jailbreak? HoHoHo! Blackberry’s Merry… Sorry?Another strategy the flailing Canadian company could take is pursuing the unlocked cell phone market to win over the more discerning customer pool, but with new devices released (and depending on the country they are being released in) there is no saying how that will play out in the coming months for the North American crowd.

All in all, we cannot make commentary on the success of the free apps as it will not end until 2012 is already upon us, but RIM is sure to stay on our radar for what it brings to the table in the coming year (whether it be good, bad or ugly!).

    December 30, 2011

With the near release of the Asus Transformer Prime and now the leak of the Acer Iconia Tab A700... the next-generation of Android tablets is upon us.  With the launch of the Iconia Tab A500 Acer gave direct competition to the Motorola Xoom as a sanctioned Android 3.0 tablet.

    Acer Iconia Tab A700 Leak

Where the Acer Iconia A500 saw marginal success... the Iconia A700 will rule in one major way, at least: by being outfitted with a  10.1 inch 1920×1080 pixel screen. Certainly the highest-quality density tablet screen on the market, the A700 is also expected to arrive early next year with a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 chip inside.  The latest trend setting fashionable accessories express your unique style!  Discover an extensive array of award-wining design protective cases and skins deliver modern style, stunning design and smart protection.  Make your mobile devices stand out.  Customize your look - how cool can you be?

For people who go crazy about high definition, the A700 tablet has got a micro-HDMI port. You will also be able to use 3G on the tablet as the A700 features a SIM card slot as well. Users will also be able to take photos and videos on the tablet using the 5 megapixel camera on the tablet, which also has flash.  Discover brand name data cables with the advanced designed engineered to work with the latest wireless and mobile devices.

To power up the tablet and to feature all these features and functions on the tablet, Acer has thrown in a 9,800 mAh battery in the tablet. The company promises 10 hours of battery backup on the tablet on one complete charge. With all these features you would think the tablet will be pretty fat and bulky. But in reality, the tablet is said to be thinner and lighter (at 1.43 pounds) when compared to the older Acer Iconia Tab A200.   Experience an extensive selection of the latest lithium technology replacement cell phone and wireless devices batteries.  Ensure your device is powered by brand name batteries for longer operating life.

Also, the tablet will have the Dolby Digital sound system. This is something which most of the users will love about the tablet. As long as Acer keeps the material quality high and ships with Android 4.0, the A700 will sure to be a success. The design looks to be cleaner, darker and overall sleeker than its predecessor, and while it may not equal the lithe profile of the Asus, if the price is right people will flock to it. Or, at least, I will.   Get powered up for work, life and play easily and conveniently with their collection of desktop chargers, wall chargers and car chargers.   Get all the power and energy you need for the mobile lifestyle.

  • 2011 In Retrospect - RIM on the Ropes
Posted on December 29, 2011 by Pure Mobile

    By Aldo Panessidi

In retrospect, 2011 was a huge year for the wireless industry.  With a giant falling at the same time that global mobile connections surpassed 6 billion, and worldwide smartphone penetration approaching 10%... all in a world with 7 billion people .   The availability of connected devices within the market place has fueled a meteoric rise in usage across all ages... with, smartphone penetration in the United States topping 44%.   The accessories market has also seen skyrocketing growth in stride with the surge in mobile device usage.  Consumer's are not taking any risk with their expensive devices preferring to protect them from scratches and blemishes in innovative designer inspired bags, sleeves and protective cases.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

The smartphone's rapid growth and continued market expansion can be attributed to two leading platforms Adroid and iOS  while other operating system platforms continue to struggle to maintain onto their meager share of the market.

While Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS is heralded as a breath of fresh air... sales and consumer interest continue to be disappointing.  Alas! What can we say of our beleaguered and fallen giant ... RIM;  once the pearl of the mobile industry;  now with the failure of the PlayBook tablet and the BlackBerry OS, which was once the most desirable mobile experience continues to be  continues to be plagued with security issues.  Enhance your mobility... turn your device into a power tool.  Discover the select accessories, such as, stylus & pens, data cables, batteries, SD micro cards, desktop chargers, earpieces & headsets as well as glider gloves all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

The onset of 2011 looked very promising for RIM.... which unveiled a number of next-generation devices; including the 9300 Curve, 9900 Touch, 9930 Bold Touch and the highly anticipated BlackBerry Dakota.  RIM was also hard at work on it first tablet offering - the BlackBerry Playbook.  RIM offered a number of options to developers with the ability to support Android based application for it first QNX-based device.  Brilliant move right.... it would give RIM access to Google's massive Android ecosystem and provide PlayBook users with a huge catalog of apps available upon launch.  Unfortunately, things don't always go according to plan... and for Rim, boy did this turn out to be a snafu!

The Playbook launched in April amidst challenges and controversy.  Due in part to the pressing need to have a tablet on the market... the PlayBook debut was marred by the lack of native support for email, contacts, calendar or even the highly-regarded chat client that put BlackBerry devices on the map - the BlackBerry Messenger.   Furthermore, the tablet launched without support for Android applications and the current catalog of lackluster apps remain a huge problem for RIM to this day.   Let the latest in trend setting fashionable accessories express your unique style!  Experience  an extensive array of award-wining design protective cases and skins that deliver modern style, stunning design and smart protection.  Make your mobile devices stand out.  Customize your look - how cool can you be?

To compound matters even further,  despite RIM’s best efforts it was only ready to announce one device at the BlackBerry World conference in late April - the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 and while it was a device BlackBerry users had been clamoring for, it also came to market more than a year later than it should have with an operating system and user interface that was stale at best.

Worse was yet to come as internal stirrings set off seismic quakes after pent up unrest among RIM’s own employees finally reached its boiling point.  At the breaking point and completely exasperated  a high-level RIM executive published an open letter in an effort to get his message across to RIM’s top ss.   In its response to the open letter, RIM indicated that while it was addressing several issues, the company was “thankfully in a solid business and financial position to tackle the opportunities ahead.” Despite, cheery forecast by RIM's top management , company would go on to disappoint with its second and third-quarter earnings, and its fourth-quarter guidance suggested that relief would not come soon.  Discover XMI Speaker's uncompromised sound quality and a revolutionary design accentuating  today's interactive lifestyle.   Earpieces and headsets combine sophisticated style and precision engineering that deliver brilliant sound for your total listening pleasure.

Today, RIM remains between a rock and a hard place.  In the midst of continually weakening sales, the first PlayBook  update is scheduled for February 2012; providing native email support and other PIM functionality, BBM is still proving to be a challenge and will not be part this 'fix'.  Even more disturbing is the fact that the first RIM smartphone to run on the new BlackBerry 10 OS  - the BlackBerry London - will be delayed until delayed until late 2012.  Discover an extensive selection of the latest lithium technology replacement cell phone and wireless devices batteries.  Ensure your device is powered by brand name batteries for longer operating life.

Of major concern is the latest controversy brewing at RIM... inside sources at RIM have indicated to BGR that Mike Lizaridis was lying when he said that the company's new lineup was delayed due to the setback get LTE chips.    In fact BGR claims it was told that RIM is simply pushing this out as long as they can for one reason, they don’t have a working product yet."   According to BGR, their source communicated something shocking for a high-level RIM employee to say. He told BGR that RIM is betting its business on a platform and ecosystem that isn’t even as good as iPhone OS 1.0 or Android 2.0. “There’s no room for a fourth ecosystem,” he stated, “and DingleBerry also works on BlackBerry 10.”   Get powered up for work, life and play easily and conveniently with a collection of desktop chargers , wall chargers and car chargers.   Get all the power and energy you need for the mobile lifestyle.

There is no question that RIM has the talent to succeed in the modern smartphone market. It also has a user base that continues to grow with each quarter. The vendor has a lot of catching up to do, however, and it once it finally does launch its first BlackBerry 10 phone, it had better be a blockbuster with a massive marketing budget to back up its launch. In the meantime, RIM has a tough six-plus months ahead.
