  • Cricket Wireless was founded in 1999 and it is a US based company which has its headquarters in San Diego. It is a subsidiary of Leap Wireless and uses its CDMA 1X and 1xEVDO networks. They recently announced their first Advance Wireless Services in Oklahoma City. Cricket Wireless is set for a number of launches in the near future with August 4th, 2010 being the official date when Cricket Wireless announced their latest device- Blackberry Unlocked Curve (8530). Some of the exclusive features of this new Blackberry model include Blackberry Maps through which users can easily spot their locations and get directions to their destination.

Its almost as good as Google Maps but users have to give substantial proof of their postal zip codes in order to utilise this application to its fullest. The phone also has a full QWERTY keypad which eases messaging. The new model easily fits into your hand, unlike the earlier Blackberry handsets which were almost the sizes of palmtops. The screen has 320x420 pixel resolution which displays over 65,000 colours! Indeed for a business phone the resolution is something which one doesn’t normally expect. Like in a laptop the trackpad lets one scroll through menus, websites and icons which just a gliding action of your fingers, almost similar to any multimedia touch phone.

Users also get to feel the Mac experience on the new set. Blackberry Desktop, Software for Mac installed in the phone allows users to sync contacts, notes and events. It also has a 2 mega pixel camera through which u can take photos and videos and upload them on the social sites via email or IM applications. To add on it has WiFi, 3G, microSD expansion, speakerphones and a 2.46” TFT LCD display. The new Blackberry Unlocked phone efficiently combines both multimedia and business phone applications.

  • Now with all the other gadgetry that’s hitting the streets these days it’s getting increasingly difficult for the smartphone makers to awe their customers.  With the Apple’s Unlocked iphone4 bringing out its delicious products and Nokia giving Motorola a run for its money in the smart phone department, Droid are bringing out another product right after the release of the Droid X models. Droid X is supposed to launch in August, but already word of mouth is making the rounds of another Android model: the Droid 2 model that is set to release within the next month. Verizon seems to have really stepped on the gas this time to combat the sales against the ‘Apple’ and the Blackberries. August 23rd would also see another launch: the outing of the Android 2.2 Froyo. This software will be loaded on to the device for the first time. Though it won’t be part of the Unlocked Droid ( X )launch, it will be definitely incorporated in the Droid 2 models. So all you Droid fans out there who had been sulking for some time: that there hadn’t been a major upgrade to any of the models, here is news for you.

Some of you might not like the fact that the lighter version of the Unlocked Motorola (Blur) is also being launched with the model. If you feel that it’s not your style to ‘slide’ out the long droid manual keyboard then nifty provides you with the touch screen ‘SWYPE’ keyboard at your service. The Blockbuster service that provides continuous influx of latest movies is made available using DLNA.

The Motorola Unlocked cell phone is packing quite a punch into their last model that is set on release right after the Droid X model. There is going to be a 1 GHz processor along with many other changes, some of which has been discussed above.

  • Rogers has recently announced that they will be coming out with support for the new very oddly shaped device, released from the house of Motorola on the Android platform. This has been accompanied with another phone which is the BlackBerry Curve 9300 which is not much of a developed version of the 8520. The Unlocked BlackBerry Curve 9300 has been given the additional feature of 3G which was not there in the previous mobile phone. Rogers has joined Bell in the market when it comes to the release of the BlackBerry 9300. Both of these are pretty awaited releases and hence we believe that it will be received with much excitement among the users in the country.

The Motorola Unlocked (Flipout) will be released for the first time in North America with this release although the verdict is still to come out on this handset. Though oddly shaped, this mobile phone packs the Android 2.1 and is surely a phone which the new buyers can consider but for themoreexperienced; it is an option which is not really pretty favorable due to its really awkward shape and the swivel design which we are not big fans of. The release of this phone was announced as far back as the month of June. In terms of the features, it gives you the happenings and messages set of widgets which you can use to get all the information from your social networking profile. There are also other features like the screen customization and data manager which allows you to manage your screen arrangement and data usage respectively. In terms of the phone, we are not really impressed with the BlackBerry but we feel that it is natural that Bell went for this as it did not carry the 8530. The Motorola Flipout is available for $29.99 for a three year contract and BlackBerry Unlocked Curve 9300 is available for $79.99 on a similar contract.

  • A new application program called Huddle came into existence that helps the Blackberry Unlocked handset users to extend their space or area of work. It is actually targeted towards SMBs possessing a particular workflow which they wish to manage. Especially workers who need to move around a lot use this. This application of hurdle actually includes a natural flux of routine tasks, brainstorming and easy access to data and files. A web oriented dashboard is the actual place where the magic occurs. This application is very flexible and user friendly in nature. Hurdle it seems is going to be quite efficient and promising in an enterprise. The free version of Hurdle that is available for Blackberry offers a number of facilities. But this free version prevents one from participating in discussions, marking the status of a particular task and file uploading. One needs to install $5.99 premium version for all these functions. Apart from this one also needs to sign up for the subscription service whose price ranges from $8 to $200 and more each month depending on the various scale and various facilities provided.

Huddle is specifically devised application for Blackberry cell phone itself. It is fast and efficient assisting a person to carry out various tasks at a time. This application apart from providing streamlined collaboration also helps users to receive work alerts along with the updates made in the work field. One can also go through the contact details of the team with which he is working. This application is capable of marking tasks as complete and half done or incomplete. One can also create a discussion and take part in it simultaneously.  The Hurdle devised for the Blackberry users provides the facilities of Microsoft word, PowerPoint presentation,  downloading PDF files and also Microsoft excel all at one go. Hence Hurdle is an application that is effectively devised for managing tasks in an office.

  • We had got initial reports from our trusted sources that the Unlocked BlackBerry Curve 9300 3G will be soon releasing on the Bell networks for the customers. Although these were initial reports, and we did not have any confirmation on them, now we have the official statement from the company’s side that they will actually be coming out with this somewhat minimally updated version of the earlier 8500 series. This phone has been given the code name Kepler and as said earlier does not have much of an upgrade as compared to the earlier version of this line. In fact, it has the exact same camera, the screen and the memory structure along with the platform is the same. In fact the similarity of this device is that much that the 3G on this is almost exact as that of the CDMA 8530 but this one is a GSM phone.  In this light, we see Bell or even Telus’s decision to carry the newly released GSM version of a handset whose close CDMA alternate is already there on their roster. In terms of the platform, the company has said that this phone is actually too close to its release such that the OS 6.0 can be accommodated on this phone.

In this light, we have heard from our sources that other carriers like Vodafone, Verizon and even T-Mobile are also going to take this phone up also. We cannot say how it will do in the market as it honestly does not have anything new to offer in the market. This phone will soon be available for the Bell customers in Canada also. We however are still completely confused about why one would want to release this phone as it has the same QVGA display, OS 5 and a paltry 256 MB RAM.

  • Very slowly yet very steadily, Blackberry has been rolling out devices one after the other all through out this year. And as they say that it is never too late, the United States is at long last going to get the promised 9130 Pearl by Blackberry. And guess who gets to claim it first? The most unlikely of options-the Cincinnati Bell. It was almost for certain after seeing the Unlocked Pearl 3G by Blackberry this year that the claim would go to one the big four carriers, but it now seems that the Cincinnati Bell will be the first one to distribute before any of these big four carriers.

The Pearl 3G will of course set back by ninety nine dollars after the one hundred dollar rebate, which is quite a deal if you are an ardent fan and follower of the Pearl by Blackberry . The devise will obviously hit the other major carriers too. The FCC after all approved with AWS bands the sets Blackberry Unlocked  9100 and the 9105 with the AWS bands which evidently both Cincinnati Bell and the T-Mobile use. That would imply that might as well expect to get some of the T-Mobile user friendly units round about any time now. Some of the more noticeable features of the handset are the GPS system and the Wi-Fi. It also sports a display of 2.44 inch, a screen resolution of around 400x360 and a camera of 3.2 megapixels.

So in a nut shell it is practically a Unlocked Bold 9700 with a more resolute and compact setting. The announcement of the Pearl was made initially along side with the new Bold version, the Bold 9650 this spring at the Symposium. The likes of Bell, the Telus and the Rogers have all stepped forward and have all been offered shortly afterwards. And even India, which is quite a far cry, will be privy before the United States to the phones. It is not hard to guess why this is all becoming possible. For one, it has a very smart outlook and every carrier will want their share of it.

  • It looks like it is going to be Verizon’s year considering the number of quality products it has lined up for release this year. Motorola Unlocked Droid (2), Blackberry Storm 3, Blackberry Curve 3 and 10.1-inch tablet are all set to be released by the end of this year which means that there is going to be a huge buzz surrounding Verizon this year.

The rumors have already started with the surfacing of a few Droid 2 images. This comes fresh after rumors were doing the rounds about Droid 2 releasing along with a two blackberry devices. The images have served up the rumors to be pushed to the fact that the Droid 2 is supposed to have 5 MP camera fitted together with a 1 GHz processor. It is also believed that it will have a QWERTY keyboard and Android option. The images have all the more confirmed the fact that the Droid 2 will be launched soon, maybe even as early as August.

A couple of Blackberry phones are also likely to be launched soon. There is talk of Blackberry Storm 3 and Unlocked Blackberry (Curve 3) being the ones. The Blackberry Storm 3 is supposed to have SurePress and will run on LTE. The Blackberry phones will have other new features which have not been clearly understood. The Blackberry Storm 3 may have OS 6, but details on this matter are not available.

The 10.1-inch tablet can be more or less confirmed to be a rumor and there is a maximum possibility of a 7.9 or 8-inch tablet. Even that is releasing next year.

Even if the tablet does not release this year, Verizon may be on the verge of a highly successful year with a series of much-hyped products ready for launch. It is only a matter of time before we know more about these fascinating devices.

  • We recently received some great bits of tantalizing information where we got to check out some new toys for the Blackberry Unlocked Smartphone OS 6 which comprised of the Blackberry OS 6.0.0.100. Although we have laid our eyes on the Blackberry 6 a number of times through various means, this has been probably one of the closer and more definitive looks that we have got for this product. The OS has not yet been completed as far as what we have seen from the reports that we have got. However the Facebook app and the entire app world is on its way. This new version apparently has better HTML capability for the emails that you want to send but we honestly have not got to see anything as such. The new feature which we found out was the virtual color coding of the messages which was pretty interesting.

Other than this there is also a nice way in which you can keep a check on all the applications which you use most frequently on your cell phone and which take up most of your app memory stock. There is also a rumor that this will come with 512 MB memory and we are hoping that this will allow better memory management in this device. Most notably there is one media application which seems to be new and is called the Web Video Search. This one comes with the OS 6 but we cannot say whether it is a preload from any carrier like Verizon. Irrespective of that, we like what this app provides users with, by giving them an easier way of enjoying YouTube and other similar video web pages.

We have also caught sight of some keypad demos which are pretty good. The Webkit browser is also something we have got reports of but right now, nothing is confirmed.  However we can gather that the experience of browsing on the OS 6 is a great leap.

  • In this highly mobile world, trends that have just kicked in are gotten rid off immediately and a much newer trend is then adopted. With the Unlocked Droid ( X) from Motorola and Incredible from HTC covering the elite section of Verizon’s smartphones, the older ones such as Droid, which hits its eight month, and Devour, which hits five, are taking the back seats. Although Verizon will still continue selling both their products, Motorola will be pulling back their any further supplies. So make sure to decide fast if you want your Unlocked Motorola handset because these stacks are soon to be cleared for fresher stocks to arrive. Like the former mentioned Motorola, a few others will be soon following suit, and in the mad rush to aim for the better and newer and more sought after models, these too will also be shown the door.

The 9630 tours by BlackBerry did not make it to the cut like Motorola’s Droid X and will soon be cleared from most stores. As mentioned previously all precedent older mobiles, which have already had their fill of success in the market will soon be out. The Blackberry Unlocked  9650 Tour will be replaced by Bold 9650 accompanied by the much sought after Nokia Twist. Samsung’s feature phones too have been treated the same way as they lost the crunch, although that was always expected. These changes are a sure sign that no longer will phones be tolerated as only newer models of cell  phones are being sought after by customers. The Droid on one hand drove a heavily successful campaign in the advertisement world, which ensured their stay.

The need to replace older stock models can be easily seen from the fact that many customers plan on purchasing newer models instead of older ones as newer models usually have better features.

  • ChangeWave recently conducted a study of nearly 4,000 US mobile users regarding their habits which has shown numerous trends in America. The biggest winner of the survey? Smartphones as nearly 16% of all those interviewed stated that they were soon going to pick up a smartphone within the next few days. Another very important point that has to be taken into consideration is the fact that Apple as well as HTC seem to be the leaders when it comes to the smartphone trend in America. According to the report, within just 3 months, both Apple as well as HTC managed to increase sales of their phone by around 50%.

Says a spokesperson of ChangeWave, “In one of the biggest conducted surveys in America, 4,028 consumers were asked for their opinions regarding the mobiles the currently use or which they would be likely to use in future and Apple and HTC, both, emerged as clear favorites. From March 2010 till June 2010, there was nearly a 50% increase in sales of both companies. While Apple and HTC both saw profits, Motorola and Rim noticed a decline in sales in the same period. This proves to be good news for the BlackBerry 6 ad the Unlocked Motorola Milestone Droid ( X ). however we cannot say the same for Palm Pre Unlocked handset  as according to our survey, they failed to register a single percentage point.”

Recently, Apple has been creating waves due to the wonderful unlocked iPhone 4 that was recently released. However, this phone has flopped as it has been discovered that if the phone is held in a certain angle, no network can be picked up. This has resulted in Apple having to recall some of the mobile phones that were issued. This has resulted in favor of the Droid as now it has less competition as compared to before. In spite of Apple having to recall some of its mobile phones, they have still been able to beat out other phones in the survey.
