  • Twitter For Android Updated
Posted on November 5, 2010 by Pure Mobile

Not only did Facebook for Android get updated, but Twitter also got a very important update as well.  Not a whole lot of new features were added, but there were some noticeable ones that people will definitely take a liking to.  One thing that they did that people will definitely appreciate is the speed increase.  In today’s society, people want things fast and they want things now.  With slow loading times, people get tired and stop using that particular application.  With the speed increase, more people will be happy and spend more time tweeting on their phone.
Arguably the biggest addition is the pull-to-refresh, which the unlocked iPhone4 client has actually had for a while.  This is an option bar that is revealed by swiping on a tweet.  There are also some new, fresh quoting options for retweets.  Along with that, all avatar photos are now high resolution, so you can see them as clearly on your phone as you can at home on your computer.  The testers that have tried it out all have had great results and came away extremely happy with the updates.  The testers were most happy with the increased loading speed that was mentioned above.  Unlike older versions of twitter, the avatars will not load right away with the page; they will be a bit slower, but that is to be expected since they are going to be a higher resolution.  They will definitely be worth the wait; you can trust me on that.  The upgraded, as expected, will be free, so there is really no reason not to upgrade.  You will definitely be happy with the upgrade with these featured, even though there was not a whole lot of new ones added.  Increased loading time means more productivity!
PureMobile carries a wide range of unlocked cell phones and Android phones such as Motorola Milestone  Droid,  HTC Desire, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 etc...

  • Motorola Makes a Profit 3 Years Later
Posted on November 1, 2010 by Pure Mobile

Motorola, Inc., a US telecommunication company based in Illinois, USA, manufactures numerous electronics products including Motorola cell phones, Internet hardware and network infrastructure, among other items. Motorola is one of the first electronics manufacturers that released the infamous “Flip Phone.” This was one of the first Motorola unlocked cell phones that brought the much-loved “Star Trek” series to life. However, according to recent filings of sales and profit statements, Motorola has slipped from its dominant spot, although the company is finally starting to recover.

With the flood of numerous cell phone manufacturers and big name players in the intensely competitive mobile market, these companies have knocked Motorola off its game and it is easy to see why. Nevertheless, according to the recently released third quarter profit results, times may be changing for the company and its profits appear to be rising.

Reporting a six percent sales increase in its third quarter, Motorola states that this increase has resulted in a net profit for the first time in over three years running. What helped this sales and profit increase is the over 3.8 million devices the company so far in 2010. Sanjay Sha, Motorola Mobility’s CEO, stated that the mobile division showed an upward trend in its momentum over the year, which has led to the profitability.

Adding to Motorola’s recent success are the 22 Motorola cell phones that the company released over the year. Most of these Motorola cell phones use Google’s Android operating system. Google Android OS has become one of the most successful mobile phone operating systems since the release of Apple Inc., iOS. Since its release, Android OS market share has surpassed that of the Apple’s unlocked iphone4 iOS, according to some reports.

Considering the recent profitability of Motorola, the company has decided to split its mobile division into two parts in 2011; Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions. The Motorola Mobility division will handle all Motorola cell phones and Motorola Solutions will encompass everything related to governmental and corporate support related.

  • Apple found a winner when the company developed and released the iPhone.  Even in Japan, the iPhone 4 has started dominating the smart phone market.  This has happened despite the fact that the ordinary phone in Japan can buy train tickets and feed pets.  They will have the iPhone but they also carry other phones to cover all their needs in their portable technological world.  The iPhone’s design and ease of use has helped it grow into a player in the international smart phone market. Unfortunately Apple does not sell the iPhone 4 unlocked in most countries. This can be a problem.

The iPhone is generally locked into one carrier.   Apple uses the Softbank Corporation in Japan and in the United States AT&T.  The cost of the iPhone itself and contracts with the carriers increases the price, making many people unable to afford the iPhones.  When the Apple iPhone first entered the Japanese market it was not popular.  Softbank came down on the contract price and saw the iPhone quickly dominate the smart phone market.  Some have asked if Softbank will have the iPhone 4 unlocked.  Softbank replied that they had to cut their margins and need the protection of a locked SIM card.  So, in Japan it will not be happening anytime soon.  Another reason people want the iPhone unlocked is that non-approved carriers have features that are either free or the iPhone approved carriers do not carry.  Apple will not honor unlocked iPhone warranties.

Maybe someday Apple will have the iPhone 4 unlocked.  Until then people have found ways around the challenge by using specialized software or physically altering the hardware.  For people who want to choose their carrier, having the iPhone unlocked could provide many benefits.  Maybe Apple will discover they can really increase their market if they free their unlocked iPhone4.

  • The Blackberry Torch 9800 is the newest update to a wide variety of Blackberry phones available today.  There was a lot of hype about this phone before it’s August 2010 release, but much of it lived up to the claims.  AT&T is the sole provider of all Blackberry phones, but unlocked Blackberry Torch 9800 phones allow you to use it with other carrier services.

The Blackberry Torch is meant to marry the two best features of other Blackberry phones – a touch screen and a keypad.  The Blackberry Touch was extremely popular, but some users missed the keyboard option.  Other users had the Blackberry Crush, but there is no denying that a touch screen phone is inherently cool.

The Blackberry Torch does have a touch screen.  It also features the same navigation buttons as other Blackberries, so users will have no problem adapting.  The keyboard is a slider that opens when you need it.  This means it is safely tucked away when not in use, and you won’t be accidentally hitting keys if the phone is in your pocket.

The phone features the same sturdy construction that made up earlier Blackberries.  In fact, the slider option has added a few millimeters thickness, which gives the Torch an even sturdier feel.  The slider is also sturdy construction, and has won over slider skeptics.

The Torch has many of the same features as other Blackberries and smart phones – GPS, web surfing, Bluetooth.   There is also a 5 megapixel camera, although some reviewers were disappointed that the camera does not also take video.

Comparisons of the Blackberry Torch to the iPhone 4 Unlocked handset have also been extremely positive.  The Blackberry holds up against the competition, so if you are torn between the two smart phones, you may have to make the decision simply on whether you prefer the keyboard or not.

As mentioned before, the Blackberry Torch is only available through AT&T.  The Torch can be unlocked, though, and used with any other carrier.  AT&T and Blackberry equip the phones with a SIM card, so switching to a new carrier requires a new SIM card.  These cards should come with a new “unlock” code, which you will be prompted to enter when you replace the SIM card.

If you don’t change the SIM card, you can request an unlock code from your current carrier, and provide them with the Torch’s IMEI number.  You can find this code Device menu, under “Device and Status Information.”

  • On the 11th October technology journalists from around the world will be gathering in New York for the 'Windows Phone 7 Worldwide Launch Event'. Amongst the excitement around the launch there are growing rumours that T-Mobile will be the first operator to partner with Microsoft for the operating system.

Windows Phone 7 is expected to be unlike any previous cell phone operating systems developed by Microsoft with a 'Metro style' interface that places emphasis on simplicity. As with almost any phones these days Windows Phone 7 with have deep integrated social networking capabilities as well as Zune and X-box live components which will help make it the all-in-one device for Microsoft fans.

Early reviews and videos of the software show a quirky interface full of colour and simplicity. Anyone who's ever used a Zone HD will find the interface somewhat familiar. There are virtually no menus or icons, just large flat squares which a uses presses to navigate. It appears very simple and easy, but what it offers for the type of user who isn't afraid of complexity is yet to be seen and there is some question over just how questionable the operating system will be.

One of the major drawbacks with Windows Phone 7 is that it is likely there will be no support for multitasking or copy and paste functionality. However it is possible that Microsoft simply left these out for the time being to bring forward the release date and as with the iPhone4 unlocked handset, increased functionality will come with free future updates. Also you can use Bluetooth headset with the phone and other accessories which are essential.

What's known for certain is that Windows Phone 7 is likely to be a very powerful operating system and all technology fans will have their eyes open on Monday to see just what exactly Microsoft has for us.

  • The number of Apps available for Googles Android is expected to reach 140,000 within the next couple of weeks as the market place becomes increasingly competitive. While still lagging behind the number of apps available for the unlocked iPhone4 by an estimated hundred thousand Android is increasingly becoming a respectable alternative for those attracted by the variety of third-party software available for the iPhone.

However when comparing the two markets the quality of Android apps are often brought into question. This is because unlike Apple, who review and check every App that they allow to be sold or downloaded, Android apps are subject to very little quality control. This means that many apps are malicious or in some cases just useless.

An example of malicious software is the recent news in the headlines that many third-party apps were transmitting users GPS location and phone number to advertising servers which many people have seen as a severe breach of privacy.

However this isn't always the case. One successful and safe Android app is the Geolocation based Foursquare which has just released version 2.0 to Unlocked Motorola Milestone Android users. Foursquare utilises the GPS function on phones to allow users to 'check in' to physical locations so they can show friends where they have been.

As this shows, the Android app market still has a lot to offer but users may have to be more aware and perhaps tech savy if they are to avoid installing malicious content. It is worth noting however that Google dismiss this criticism citing that “Not only must each Android app get users' permission to access sensitive information, but developers must also go through billing background checks to confirm their real identities, and we will disable any apps that are found to be malicious.”

  • It seems to be the beef between Adobe and Apple is not that too as Adobe recently has released an updated Express app of Photoshop for the iPad and iPhone from Apple.

The app, already available on the handsets of Android, has changed its name to Photoshop Express from Photoshop Mobile. This is the first to be much compatible with the iPad from Apple. And it contains a large screen which should help to make editing photo easier.

There also exists a user interface which is updated for the Photoshop Express by Adobe for the iPad and iPhone from apple, and visually it is quite a lot pleasing.

Do not expect that it will be having all the features of the Photoshop of desktop fully, as this iPhone app from apple enables only the very basics such as rotation, cropping and another few effects. Still, it has been a very solid way in case of editing photos of yours on your go.

I also think it was summed up by a farmer best in the review he made on iTunes: If you expect features like Photoshop, then this app must be forgotten. What so ever, if you search for basic transforming and editing of pictures on the iPhone, this very app is truly cool. And above all it is absolutely free!

The Express app of Photoshop makes its presence just being the relationship between Apple and Adobe and it continues being tenuous, at its best. The crux of that very beef is such that Apple has no desire for having Flash on iPad or Unlocked iPhone4 from apple just because Steve Jobs has got a pretty strong belief that in case of issues of performance it is actually not at all right for the entire platform.

Adobe hence has countered such that the lacking of Flash could strongly hurt its business.

  • The CEO of News Corp. Mr. Rupert Murdoch stated that he would like to introduce the digital content of newspaper to the Apple iPhone, Android, and the Apple iPad in a different and attractive way. The launching date has not been declared yet. But it’s been told that the Managing Editor of The New York Post will be in charge of this new strategy.

Murdoch is hopeful that the adolescents will love this new idea of presenting the news and it will be a huge success for them.

This new application, which will have the free access, will be far better than the present iPad application of Wall Street journal. Though some of the newspaper companies found it troublesome, but it’s true that this is the best possible way to convince those people who are apparently new.

There are some other news companies like USA Today and the New York Times who have the same Unlocked iPhone4 and iPad applications and now News Corp. joins the queue. But it is to be noted that this apps apparently cause no good to these companies.

So these newspaper companies are now looking for some brighter applications as the journal, New York Times, already came with a new application through which publishers are enabled to open an application without putting their money. The NY times will profit from the license fees which they will get from it.

But it is not going to be that easy for the News Corp. as the existing specimens are not exactly what is required to support its bigger overhead. So the News Corp. needs to find out a solution and let’s watch how they find it!

Though being a part of the Unlocked Galaxy S, Samsung Epic 4G is different from the for some of its extraordinary traits. It is evident from the name that it is accessible with an accelerated speed to the data network of the next-generation. You may have noticed that EVO 4G has this same orientation and it is lightning fast.

  • San Francisco is the city where most of the people have the Apple’s unlocked iPhone4. But now it is becoming challenging for the aesthetics based cellular antennas mainly because of the new proposal which is placed at the Planning Commission.

S.F. Examiner stated that the newly proposed rules and regulations will ban the utility poles which are new and used only for antennas. According to the rules and regulations, you can install mini antennas but cell phone manufacturers will have to get permission before they fix any equipment on public property.

San Francisco already has many complaints regarding the network coverage of the Apple iPhone and it seems that this proposal won’t help much to improve it! Though AT&T, who sees after the network coverage, did whatever they could to provide a better coverage but the government in San Francisco didn’t give an approval.

We don’t want San Francisco to lose its beauty due to the wild run of the cell phone manufacturers. But there must be a solution to solve the coverage problem without destroying the beauty of the city. It is so easy to make a statement that AT&T is not doing anything which they must do to improve the Apple iPhone coverage. But boy who said they haven’t done anything yet? It would be better to recommend a solution rather than criticizing them with all your energy.

If you do want a better technology for your Apple iPhone4 unlocked handset then do give a call to your local agent and ask him to install new towers and for that you need to get some time out of your busy schedule.

To get rid of the problem, you’ll have to be active. Show your responsibility, stop being lazy, pay heed to the complicated situation where you are in and bring out a solution.
