  • If you have a new Unlocked iPhone 4 that has gone on carrier lockdown because you put your phone through jailbreak then do not worry as the developers of the iPhone now have come up with that little something that will help you to carrier unlock your jail broken Apple iPhone 4. The team from Apple has said that they will be updating their ultrasn0w unlock utility with help from their Cydia jailbreak applications store which will make unlocking your phone a breeze.  However we are still not yet fully convinced about why we should use ultrasn0w. Let us look at the possibilities of this application.

This application will allow the users to easily unlock the phone which otherwise will be locked to a particular carrier on the GSM network which is AT&T in the USA. What is more important to note is that when this phone will be unlocked you can use this device on any network around the world where you can just use the local SIM card and put it into the phone and start it up. This is something which all of the users of this phone have been wanting as Apple and AT&T’s deal meant that the consumers were largely bound by this contract where they would have to be on AT&T. It is something which is very needed for consumers who do not travel the globe too as it is always a good feeling to have the phone all to yourself and be able to use it according to your wishes. Before unlocking your device, you need to jailbreak your phone using the necessary means.

Fire up Cydia and look for ultrasn0w application and in no time you will get an  iPhone 4 which is unlocked and free to use with any kind of GSM service around the world.

  • Alien Babel Tech recently discovered that the HTC Vanguard, a T-Mobile operating with a HSPA+ network has a speed, which surpasses many other networks. The man who presented the benchmark at first place was Mike Bibik, a Senior Interaction Designer for T-mobile. This high-speed crazy machine has two other names like G1 Blaze Vision and Glacier. Other high-speed smartphones in the market are the Samsung Unlocked Galaxy S and the iPhone 4. When compared with the HTC Vanguard, these two phones scored 50% less than the HTC Vanguard in terms of CPU and GPU performance. A fast GPU and CPU obviously offer the users fast net connections on the phone.

This high speed facilitates browsing and downloading and thus makes phone web an enjoyable experience for its users. Earlier even if smartphones had amazing resolution and most of the key features downloading speed on the phone was very low. Thus they could not raise much in the markets. Now with highly compatible application desired speed is available on an Android Operating System. Also to increase the battery life of the phones microSIM cards have been developed. These are greatly reduced versions in terms of size.

Once the SIM card size gets reduced developers can get an opportunity to increase the battery size. This will offer longer browsing hours on the phone. These microSIM chips have been designed from 45 nm transistors and the next version promises to make it even smaller! The price of this device has not yet been finalized. One thing is that after getting high ratings on the net speed the price is expected to be pretty high and so it might not be economical for all classes of the society. Nevertheless this new HTC Vanguard phone definitely is a contribution to the world of today’s smartphones.

  • It isn’t much of a surprise when recent market statistics declared Android phones to be dominating in the US. One third of all the smartphones sold in the month of spring were all Androids , the most popular amongst them being the Motorola Droid. The HTC Droid Incredible the HTC EVO 4G followed the  Motorola Droid. The Apple iPhone4 Unlocked handset  and RIM despite having several exclusive features couldn’t surpass the Androids. The adoptions of Google’s mobile OS by the Androids serve as their staircase to success.

Reports by Electronsta probe that Google will hold on to the American Smartphone for long. Within a few months Androids will feature on the top list. With the Droid X‘s rapid sales and the upcoming ,much awaited Motorola Droid 2 launching soon Google will be on cloud nine. RIM’s share on the other hand continues to degrade. Apple’s only consolation is the iPhone but it cannot single-handedly match the Android’s performance. The Android has over 200,000 new phone activations per day. Beginning of 2010 figures ranged around 60,000 zooming onto 100,000 in May 2010 and now present day statistics suggest that there are about 1.4 million activations per week.

Android phones are subjected to instantaneous application updates, the most rated application features in the next version. Recent Electronista reports about the Android’s success suggest that it might be because of the Verizon. The same might also be the reason for Blackberry’s failure. The Buy One, Get One (BOGO) promos provide an extra boost for the sale of the products. It is indeed sad to imagine that HTC, Motorola ,Samsung and LG’s Unlocked cell phones will be overshadowed by Google’s platform. For now the grass looks greener for the Androids and to add the icing on the cake they are soon going to launch Version 3.0. Androids soon are advancing fast.

  • Now with all the other gadgetry that’s hitting the streets these days it’s getting increasingly difficult for the smartphone makers to awe their customers.  With the Apple’s Unlocked iphone4 bringing out its delicious products and Nokia giving Motorola a run for its money in the smart phone department, Droid are bringing out another product right after the release of the Droid X models. Droid X is supposed to launch in August, but already word of mouth is making the rounds of another Android model: the Droid 2 model that is set to release within the next month. Verizon seems to have really stepped on the gas this time to combat the sales against the ‘Apple’ and the Blackberries. August 23rd would also see another launch: the outing of the Android 2.2 Froyo. This software will be loaded on to the device for the first time. Though it won’t be part of the Unlocked Droid ( X )launch, it will be definitely incorporated in the Droid 2 models. So all you Droid fans out there who had been sulking for some time: that there hadn’t been a major upgrade to any of the models, here is news for you.

Some of you might not like the fact that the lighter version of the Unlocked Motorola (Blur) is also being launched with the model. If you feel that it’s not your style to ‘slide’ out the long droid manual keyboard then nifty provides you with the touch screen ‘SWYPE’ keyboard at your service. The Blockbuster service that provides continuous influx of latest movies is made available using DLNA.

The Motorola Unlocked cell phone is packing quite a punch into their last model that is set on release right after the Droid X model. There is going to be a 1 GHz processor along with many other changes, some of which has been discussed above.

  • Spirit and its manufactures were in the doldrums with falling profits, bleeding subscribers to Apple’s unlocked Iphone4 but it has changed quite a bit since the inclusion of the Sprint HTC EVO 4G. Spirit’s run at the markets and the smartphone industry seemed to be in tatters and their business almost to a dead end but for the latest HTC EVO 4G. Spirit had previously tried to fight its arch enemy, its nemesis Apple through various means, for example the device like the Palm Pre (which by the way was a total failure). Apple and its iPhone and their improved versions seemed just too hot to handle. But this new Android by Spirit has seemingly breathed life to the company. Sprint added 111,000 net customers for the second quarter of 2010.

The smartphone Sprint HTC EVO 4G has been clearly making waves. It’s been rumoured to become one of the best, if not, the best smartphone of its times. Though it has been selling like hot cakes, yet at times the HTC EVO 4G is difficult to acquire from the stores

Spirit was reportedly at a loss of $760 million in its first quarter of the year and it had lost around 22800 subscribers. Spirit has now a total of 48.2 million subscribers. Though the company was on the downhill it seems their latest adventure in the form of Sprint HTC EVO 4G did pay off and it managed to keep the losses to a bare minimum.

It seems good times lie ahead for this company. There had been frequent complaints by customers about their notorious customers service and their imperfectness, but now with the surge in profits the company has seen a dramatic change in its personnel. This year in the last quarter the company was reported to having its best-ever contract churn rate of 1.85%.

  • Pocket Informant HD for the iPad
Posted on August 4, 2010 by Pure Mobile

Web Information Solutions, a company based in Cedar Park (Texas) has recently released dual versions of the popular Pocket Informant application – one targeted at the iPhone and another for the iPad. The latest releases come with quite a few novel features, also taking into count the advantages and features that come with the most recent versions of Apple’s iOS - the Pocket Informant HD requires an iPad running iOS 3.2 or higher.

Pocket Informant is a fully redesigned from-the-ground-up GTD-based tasks and calendaring solution for the iPad. Its purpose is to integrate state-of-the art calendaring with common tasks together into a single streamlined application.

The version aimed at the Apple iPad - Pocket Informant HD – makes use of the tablet computer’s extra screen space to deliver a more appropriate user experience.

The tab for “Today” is a page that aggregates everything pertaining to today, both calendar events and tasks. It provides in a list all the probably happenings that may occur in a day and also reminds you about things that need to be done during that day.

All the plans and schedules are managed by accessing the tab for “Calendar”. You can see the calendar of events according to your wish in four different views that have been provided: as a list, or as days, weeks or months

Task management is an important part of keeping track of the day, and this tab is where that is controlled. It is a task list arranged according to a degree of priority which can be configured or according to the dates due. If one taps a particular event, the editor is opened for that event.

The “settings” is the tab which provides us full controlling ability over each and every aspect of Pocket Informant. Each tab has a section called ‘settings’ so that it may be modified to accommodate the user’s preference, along with default settings for the general programs. Particularly interesting is the section for Sync Settings which is where the actual powerfulness of the Pocket Informant lies. The various editions of the software can sync with each other using one of several services, including Google, Toodledo, iCal and Microsoft Outlook.

  • In the last few months, what we have seen is the media only dishing out some heavy criticism for the new Apple Unlocked  iPhone 4 for its reception problems and how the company has handled the whole fiasco. However unlike the media in America, the European media has not really singled this phone out and in fact they have said that the performance of this phone is more or less on par with other smartphones currently available in the market. A recent report a major Norwegian newspaper recently reported that the mobile phone did not in fact have any kind of flaw in its engineering and therefore was performing okay. They have also said that the phone has been well received by the major carriers Telenor.

The above mentioned newsletter has based their conclusions on some testing which they have done with some of the most popular smartphones in the market. In an analysis done where they have compared the iPhone 4, Nokia Unlocked  E71, HTC Wildfire and the older iPhone 3GS, they say that they have found the same issues with the reception dropping due to the manner in which the phone is held. Amazingly they have also gone to the extent of reporting that the iPhone 4 does not actually drop calls if the signal is lost in the phone. Along with that, they also analyzed the data and the voice quality on the iPhone 4 and the 3GS and what they found was that both were superior as compared to the HTC and the Nokia counterparts. Although the voice was cut when the signal went down, the calls were not dropped, said the reports.

To be honest, in the tests that we have done, the iPhone 4 Unlocked handset has not really failed us that much and its performance is not startlingly low as compared to other major phones provided by carriers.

  • The Unlocked iPhone 4 has a new and very formidable competitor in the Samsung Vibrant which is the T-Mobile variant of the Samsung S Galaxy that you might not have heard of. This phone is a very good choice for the person who wants to buy a strong smartphone and in fact we feel that this phone might just have the capacity to swing some of the potential buyers of the iPhone to their favor. This device is a great asset to the T-Mobile carrier and it will surely dissuade many people from switching to AT&T with the Apple iPhone 4. We are pretty excited to have the chance to sample this phone for ourselves and we can say that we are impressed.

The design of the Samsung unlocked Galaxy S which T-Mobile went for is more closely related to the original phone’s look and we feel they have done the right thing here. The screen of the phone is the new and very exciting super AMOLED screen and the capacitive navigation buttons caught our attention. It also has dedicated volume keys which make this phone look really smooth. However the phone’s more visible bezel makes this less sleek as compared to the Captivate. As for the hardware, other than the AMOLED screen, its 5 megapixel camera, 16 GB built in memory and microSD card input slot. There is also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 other than these. The memory card on this phone can be taken out and replaced without having to take the battery out or reboot this phone, which save the users from a lot of hassle.

The Android 2.1 adorns this phone and is good enough for now. The skin is the Samsung S Life User Interface and you can play around with it. Other than this, there are a number of other features you must look forward to in this great device.

  • Steve Jobs blamed San Francisco to be too slow in advancement and says it takes up to three years to get a cell tower built in San Francisco. This might shed new light into the enigma of poor reception in San Francisco. The local Government is to be blamed instead of AT & T according to Steve Jobs. The network building problem was brought up by Steve Jobs in the recent ‘Antennagate’ conference.

AT & T has been making numerous efforts including great investments in order to better the network but it has been futile in places like San Francisco because of lack of support from the Government. The lack of tech press in San Francisco is another reason for this particular problem going unnoticed. Although AT & T may be responsible to a certain extent in not being able to imagine the demand created by Apple Unlocked iphone 4 but according to Steve Jobs, the blame should be shouldered by the Government.

Jobs expressed his support for AT & T saying that the company has made several moves to better the network by putting up cellular towers but if they are not allowed to do what is required then all the initiative goes to waste. There is no scope for investment if the local Governments are reluctant about all this. This is particularly strange for Jobs as he says that most people in the Government of San Francisco own an Apple iphone.

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski may be the ideal man to better this anomalous condition. The ‘shot clock’ method devised by him can be the best way to get the infrastructure ready in little time. This may be the last resort for cell phone carriers like AT & T to be able to improvise and invest on creating as many cell towers as possible in order to better the reception quality in places such as San Francisco.

  • We recently received great details and photographs of the Apple Game Center which will be accessible both on the iPad and unlocked iPhone4. Although this sort of online game network is not really anything new as the world has already seen Xbox Live but we feel that the Game Center definitely needs a change graphically as the preview that we have got does indeed only show the basic details of the service and indeed is nothing much in comparison to the others which are available in the market.  Not only graphically, but we also thankfully got to check out the changes also in the iOS 4.1 SDK which we do welcome. Let us look closer to the design of the Game Center.

Graphics on the opening log in screen is much better than what it used to be and the look is far more inviting than before. As was the case before, you can get your account created and sign in from this page directly which will redirect you to the “Me” page which gives you the account details. Here you can change your status and shuffle through your friends lists as well as the games and requests that you have pending. Friend requests can be tracked by a special nickname or the account ID which all of the users are given in the Game Center domain. Good news for parents is that they can actually have some control over what their children will play and with whom they interact with while playing.

We are pretty pleased with the update for the Game Center and the app indeed looks pretty impressive now and is much better than what it was before in the phone. We will not give the final verdict just yet as the time we had with this device was pretty less but we feel that this could make a serious dent in the existing online gaming market.
