  • Apple iPhone 5 could Be Available for All Carriers in 2011Although at one point the Apple’s unlocked iPhone 4 was only available for AT&T, the device has been continually move forward to be available for various other carriers as well. Already, versions of the iPhone have been available on Verizon and other networks. Now, it looks as though the phone, in the very near future, could be available for many more carriers as well. A number of public statements from both Verizon wireless as well as Apple, has stated that there is no CDMA exclusive contract for the iPhone, and this means that other CDMA companies could potentially pick up the iPhone and use it on their own network. This could change later in the year, as both Sprint and T-Mobile will allow for users to purchase the iPhone five and use it on their network.

Apple iPhone 5 could Be Available for All Carriers in 2011

This is something that many Apple fan boys have been waiting for for quite some time. The ability to use the iPhone carriers other than AT&T, a company that did not receive all that raving of reviews for the service that they had provided to iPhone users, it will be interesting to see which networks are able to live up to standards that the users have set so high. The new iPhone4 unlocked, which has been done the Apple iPhone 4S, is a device that has been highly anticipated. While in the beginning will surmise that the device would have very meager updates in comparison to the previous versions of the device, it now appears that it will be receiving some very worthwhile updates. This, plus the fact that there is no CDMA exclusive contract between Verizon and Apple, the could see the phone available for many different carriers in a very short period of time. It will be interesting to see what kind of response the other carriers receive when they are finally allowed to start offering the iPhone on their networks.

  • The web-based jailbreak has been something that Apple has been fighting for quite some time. The service, which is called jailbreak.com, is one that allowed users to jailbreak your iPhone 4 directly from the web, without having to do any hardware or software updates their stuff. This is something that Apple is really fought against whom the very beginning, because it allows users to download apps for free which definitely cuts into their profit margins. You would think that they would try and find a way to stop jailbreak in, but after courts ruled the jail breaking a device that you purchased is completely legal, Apple has had to take a backseat in allowing things to happen instead, opting to increase their security for their devices to keep this from happening.

Web Based Jailbreak Now Jailbreaks iPad 2 and All iOS Devices

Although the service is not working for quite some time, they have just relaunched and are allowing users to use their service straight in Safari, the web browser for iOS devices, following the on-screen instructions and jailbreak in your phones. Within just a few seconds you will be able to have a completely open device.

Web Based Jailbreak Now Jailbreaks iPad 2 and All iOS Devices

This is the first widely available tool that will allow for users to jailbreak your iPAQ to without having to do some heavy-duty coating themselves. Tablet owners will be excited to find that they now have this option available to them as well. The service will also allow for other IOS devices including the Apple TV device, the Apple I., the Apple iPhone 3GS, the GSM unlocked iPhone 4, and other devices that they currently have available. It will be interesting to see if Apple fights back against the jail breaking for the new devices, but they have come up short in the past.

  • According to a number of recent reports, Microsoft is now asking that Samsung pay $15 licensing fee for every Android smart phone that it makes. Yes, you heard that right. They are asking for a $15 licensing fee for every Android phone that Samsung makes. The Redmond based company said that it believed that the software patents that they currently home will cover the technology that is used in Samsung’s Android devices such as unlocked Samsung Galaxy S II. According to the history on the present subject, it looks as though Microsoft will be getting its way.

It was just last year that HTC was forced to sign an agreement that would allow for them to pay a total of $15 per device based on the patents that Microsoft already owns such as unlocked HTC 7 Surround. It expects that Samsung will return an offering for a total of $10 for each device that it creates, but the upper hand is definitely on Microsoft’s side in this case since the company also had a number of lawsuits recently with Apple, and the fact that Microsoft has teamed up with Facebook to combat the new Google social network, it appears as if every company is fighting each other on a different front. Apple has also attacked Samsung claiming that they copycat devices that they say also infringes on the patents that they have. Since they have been constantly tied up in these battles, this one seems most definitely favor Microsoft over any other organization. It will be interesting to see if they reach some sort of pre-determined amount in court, or if they come to an agreement before that. It is clear that if Microsoft takes the court that they will win, and will probably reach a similar agreement to the agreement that was reached with  HTC just last year. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft also continues to target other companies that are using their patented technology in the future.

  • Best Buy Launches Cloud Music ServiceIt looks like Amazon and Apple will not be the only companies that are launching a new cloud-based music service that will allow users to play, store, and listen to music straight from the cloud.  Best Buy announced today that they would be launching a new service that will be in competition with the other cloud-based music services that have been put into motion by the company’s Apple, Amazon and Google that will allow for users to play their music straight from the cloud.  The company will have their software powered by the play anywhere application, and will allow for users to quickly sign up for the new service.  Then, the users can download the application straight from their Macintosh or PC.  The Apple also be integrated with the unlocked iPhone 4, Android, and Blackberry operating systems, allowing users to use their cloud-based music service while on the go.

Best Buy Launches Cloud Music Service

After you have installed the application, the Music Cloud will allow you to stream your favorite songs, or even save them for off-line playback at a later time.  The package will be completely free, which makes the service differ greatly from the other services that are currently available.  The package will allow users to utilize the Best Buy Web player, so you will have to pay a total of four dollars per month for the premium package that the company will be offering.  While this offer may be similar to those that have been launched by Apple, Google, and Amazon, there will be some major differences in the way that the pricing structure works in the functionality of the program.  It is clear that in the future music services will more than likely be based in the crowd, and will allow users to access all of the information that they have purchased and downloaded straight from the cloud.  It is clear that consumers are going to have to make a choice as to which cloud company that offers a music program they’re going to want to work with.

Fruity Loops is a musical creation program that has been around our PCs for quite some time.  In fact, the application has been one of the most used for creating independent rap albums from little-known rappers.  Now, the beet production software will be coming to the unlocked iPhone 4 and iPod touch for a total of only $15.  The larger, more in-depth version, titled the HD addition, for the iPad will crush users only $20.  Both of these versions will be climbing an additional five dollars after the intro sale comes to an end.  The software is great for putting together beats for rap, hip-hop, techno, and other musical genres and now users will be able to use the software on the go to create music at will.  There are already a number of other apps out there that do similar things to Fruity Loops studio edition, but this one has been the best on PCs for quite some time and will likely become highly popular for IOS devices as well.  You will be able to pass project files back and forth between the apps on your mobile phone in your desktop, allowing you to continue the work that you started on your mobile phone on the desktop that you have the program installed on.

The IOS devices will not be allowed to have any sort of support with your purchase, which may be an issue for many users.  Like the desktop version, many users would probably like to be able to use VST instruments, but that will not be available on the app version.  Many users have stated that that upgrade will probably come a few months after the initial program is released from have had time to expand the use of the program a bit more.  Also, the sequencer went from a total of 128 tracks to only 99, but that should be more than enough to handle when you are working on a mobile device.  The iPad version of the software should be a bit more advanced than the unlocked iPhone 4, another IOS versions that are going to be released by the company.  This is a great update that should allow for independent music makers to continue creating their sounds and music while they’re on the go.

  • The ability to monitor your blood pressure on the go is something that many people would like to have.  Now, it looks as if individuals with IOS devices, including the Apple unlocked iPhone 4 are going to be able to potentially monitor their blood pressure while out and about.  The newest device that was created by Withings will allow users to plug a blood pressure Monitor straight into the charging area of their phone.  Then they will be able to wrap it around their arm, it received their blood pressure straight on the iPhone.

Blood Pressure Monitoring from Apple iPhone

The blood pressure monitor was first seen at the consumer electronics show, and users are now able to purchase them on their own.  The device is going to be compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and the iPod touch.

Blood Pressure Monitoring from Apple iPhoneThis will be great for individuals that have to constantly keep a monitor on their blood pressure as they are out and about.  Imagine being able to plug in a device straight into your iphone 4 unlocked and in to get your blood pressure to ensure that your health remains in check.  Then, the results of this device’s readings can then be sent to Google Health, as well as other health related websites which then forward the results to your doctor’s office.

The device works almost as if it is any other type of blood pressure monitoring device.  It is very easy to use, and received amazing reviews at the consumer electronics show of 2011 where the device was first debuted.  All you have to do is load up the app, and then plug in the device, use it properly, just as you would any other blood pressure monitoring system and then read off the results.  You can also have the results e-mail to your e-mail so that you can track them over a period of time and keep records of your overall health to get your doctor.

  • Sound Charge T-Shirt Charges Phone While You ListenIt seems as if every day there is a new device that comes out that allows you to charge your phone such as unlocked iphone 4 while you’re on the go.  Now the company Orange Sound has released a new quirky way for you to charge your phone when you’re out and about.  The company will be releasing a T-shirt that will generate an electronic charge from the sound around the phone.  The idea is that the church will create an electronic charge while users are out of concerts and shows, and then their phone can be plugged into the shirt to maintain its charge while they are out and about.  This is an interesting and quirky way for users to charge their phone even while they are out of their favorite concerts.  The company has not gone much farther than explaining that harnessing the power of the vibrations around the shirt are involved in creating the charge.

So far they have not released any information about how much of a charge, or how long your phone will stay charge for when you’re using the T-shirt.  We would expect that the charge would not be very strong; it might just give your phone a few extra minutes of life while you were out at the concert.  However, it will probably make a great fashion statement that you can show off to your friends while you’re out and about.  As far as we can tell, the louder the environment that you’re in, the more charge the shirt will receive.  At the very least, the shirt will be great for starting conversations with people that you don’t know while you’re out and about.

Sound Charge T-Shirt Charges Phone While You Listen

Every day it seems as if there are new ways to charge your device, but most of them that have been released in recent times appear to be gimmicks.  A T-shirt that charges your phone based on the vibrations around you is not really all that feasible, but is an interesting concept that one day may grow into something larger and the interest in the shirt that we have seen so far is any indication.

  • The all in analytical company, the Nielsen company, has announced that the usage of smart phone data has risen as much as 89% in the United States over the course of the first quarter of 2011.  The data consumed is rising at a very fast pace, and it appears that the largest users of data and the smart phone era or android users such as unlocked Xperia Arc, Samsung galaxy II, etc...  During the same period of time during 2010, the average smart phone user only used about 230 MB of data on their device.  However last quarter, the number went up significantly, about 89%, to as much as 435 MB of data over that same period of time.  The heaviest amounts of data that was used among the top 10% of all users of smart phones went from 1.8 GB during that quarter to 4.6 GB during that quarter.  Keep in mind, that these are the largest users of data in the smart phone era, and are not representative of all smart phone users.

    Smartphone Data Rises Significantly

However, during the same amount of time the average cost to the user or per megabyte for smart phone data, dropped as much as 46% over that same period.  This shows that data is becoming progressively less expensive for most users, and shows that even though the amount of data that is being used is going up, it does appear to be getting cheaper.  The largest majority of users use very small amounts of data.  The largest amount of data was used by users in the 99th and 98th percentile, who used the bulk of the data that was gathered.  The cost of data per megabyte was $.14 in the first quarter of 2010.  This number dropped all the way down to eight cents per megabyte last quarter.

It is interesting to see that android users are the largest users of data.  One would think that I phone users would be the largest users of data based on the number of people that own them.  Perhaps the low level of intrigue that makes the unlocked iPhone 4 so popular is one of the reasons why users do not use as much data.  Also, the fact that it is a closed interface could lead to more users using less data than Android users, which utilize an open interface.

  • Headphones Work As Cameras with iOS 5Have you ever wanted to be able to be even more stealthy with your photo taking ability? Well now you can, as one of the features that will come with the brand new iOS 5 is the ability to use your headphone remote as a camera shutter button. Technically, you do not even have to hit a button your phone in order to get it to take a picture now, which is a huge upgrade over the way that things worked with the previous version unlocked iphone 4. The shutter button was going to be the volume up button the phone, but luckily enough there is another device that has a volume up button - your headphone cable!

This will be an interesting development. At this time it is not currently clear whether or not Apple meant for the button on the headphones to work like that or not, mostly because it would allow people to take pictures even more anonymously than they already do, but a number of Apple blogs and forums have pointed out that it does indeed work.

Headphones Work As Cameras with iOS 5

Keep in mind that if you are holding your phone you would just be able to take the pictures yourself. Of course, if you were to set your phone down somewhere and snap a photo using the ovlume up button on your headphones it would certainly allow you to be even more stealthy and no one would really have any idea that you were taking the pictures. It is an interesting feature, but at this time it is not clear if it was even meant to be a feature at all. We will have to wait and see if Apple patches before the release of iOS 5 before coming to any conclusions about it. You can already see how you might snap a lot of inadvertent photos with it.
