    Nokia Might Juuuuust Be Right?

Not to editorialize or personalize the matter too much, but this writer has to give points to Nokia’s Niels Munksgaard for his recent statement this Tuesday. As the company’s global director of portfolio, product marketing & sales stated, “What we see is that youth are pretty much fed up with iPhones. Everyone has the iPhone,” Munksgaard said. “Also, many are not happy with the complexity of Android and the lack of security. So we do increasing see that the youth that wants to be on the cutting edge and try something new are turning to the Windows phone platform.”  Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  Protect your devices from scratches and blemishes with our stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases accessories.

With experience in the antivirus, security sector... where strangely company policy dictated a move from BlackBerry to either an Samsung or an iPhone device, and also as a professional woman who has little patience with overly complex technologies, this statement seriously resonates. It also is on par with my company’s global mobile security expert. Nokia is potentially the Goldilocks option.

Any professional not immersed in creative fields with their attention buried in their Macbook, is familiar with Windows. Pair a familiar OS with a user firendly smartphone and there is a happy medium in a welcome user friendly interface, a warm familiarity, and - for the me-centric generation I belong to – a unique smartphone that I can further accessorize to let the world know what I stand for sans Facebook status update.  Enhance your mobility... turn your device into a power tool.  Discover select accessories, such as, stylus and pens, memory cards, data cables, chargersand other fun gadgets specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

    Nokia Might Juuuuust Be Right?

Having been a user of BlackBerrry (RIM OS), an Android (don’t even ask me the device manufacturer), and now an iPhone, I have long wondered if there was something between the two extremes. According the Munksgaard, Nokia is taking a different path as its competitors essentially recycle one another’s products. “The marketplace is extremely crowded. I refer to it as the sea of sameness,” the Nokia executive said. “When you walk up to a retail shelf at Phones4U and see the number of black mono-blocks sitting on the shelf, it is very confusing to the consumer. We want to deliver services and phones that are different.”  Conversely, it is the fashion and personalization through protective accessories (and shared accounts with other Apple devices acquired post iPhone) that will make a transition challenging.

To date, the Finnish mobile device manufacturer has released two Windows phones: unnder the the Nokia Lumia banner and all indicators point to another smartphone unveiling at the Consumer Electronics Show in the appropriately glitzy Las Vegas next month.

  • Google Android OS: Growing Goliath

Google Android OS: Growing GoliathDo you know what unbiased opinion is? No. Not teen spirit. It's the results from the report released by VisionMobile on Monday comparing the top eight open source platforms on the market. Not to be found under the shade of Google’s umbrella, this report sheds light on the marketing spin on Google’s Android OS.  .   Accessories are designed to protect, personalize and enhance your mobile devices.  Discover the innovative protection solutions that allow you to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes with stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside our brand nameprotection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression

Any newbie to the mobilization market knows that Apple’s iOS is a closed platform. It has also done remarkably well in winning over the creative geniuses in the sub-markets for apps and accessory creation. Google’s comeback to this success is that it is truly the best friend of app developers because of its “open source” concept.  Let  trend setting fashionable accessories express your unique style!  Discover an extensive array of award-wining design protective cases and skins that deliver modern style, stunning design and smart protection.  Make your mobile devices stand out.  Customize your look - how cool can you be?

True, the leviathan’s OS is more widely available to mobile device manufacturers and more easily distributed globally thanks to unlocked phones, but is it truly all that “open”? VisionMobile votes NO!   In fact, the new report ranks it the most closed of the open source platforms out of the eight reviewed projects. As can be seen in the Open Governance Index (please see below), an in-depth review of the relative openness for Android, Wt, Symbian, MeeGo, Mozilla, WebKit, Linux, and Eclipse yields results that defy the lip service of the Google executive team.   Enhance your mobility... turn your device into a power tool.  Discover select electronic accessories specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

    Google Android OS: Growing Goliath

By excluding licensing models and instead employing governance as a core metric, VisionMobile determined that Eclipse is actually the most open of these projects, pulling in a score of 84%. In contrast, Google’s Android came in dead last with an index score of 23%. With all the benefits of open source touted by Google, how does this add up?  XMI Speakers have built a reputation for delivering  uncompromised sound quality and a revolutionary design accentuating  today's interactive lifestyle.   Our earpieces and headsets combine sophisticated style and precision engineering that deliver brilliant sound for your total listening pleasure.

Follow the money. The firm concluded that the success of Android OS is in major part thanks to the significant financial backing of Google and its primary source of revenue. “Google has made Android available at ‘less than zero’ cost, since Google’s core business is not software or search, but driving eyeballs to ads,” the report states. “As is now well understood, Google’s strategy has been to subsidize Android such that it can deliver cheap handsets and low-cost wireless Internet access in order to drive more eyeballs to Google’s ad inventory. Get powered up for work, life and play easily and conveniently with desktop chargers, wall chargers and car chargers - all the power and energy you need for the mobile lifestyle.

    Google Android OS: Growing Goliath

This is no garage grown start up. Instead, Google’s global presence, billions of marketing dollars (grace a carriers and vendors) and a drive to gobble up Apple’s grassroots momentum are behind Android’s success. Not its open source licensing philosophy. Nor its iconic, proprietary devices and end-user inspired mobile accessories.

Perhaps Nokia’s CEO, Stephen Elop, stated it best this past June: “Apple created the conditions necessary for Android.“

    Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 Review

Samsung has led the charge in Google Android’s mission to win the hearts and minds of smartphone users and potential customers.  The South Korean company’s Samsung Galaxy II and highly anticipated tablet have launched it to top smartphone billing in the world this year and have it poised to give the upcoming Apple iPad 3 some true competition. So when looking at its Galaxy Player 5.0 media player Samsung’s answer to the iPod touch, there were high expectations.

Compared to its playmates in the app-running, connected media player arena, we are sorry to report that this member of the Galaxy family line-up doesn’t live up to expectations. When considering that the astronomical advances made in smartphones, apps, and all of the associated technology and consumer inspired accessories, one has to ask: “what is the point of paying for a smartphone that doesn’t have calling ability?” Well, it’s for the storage that makes it a media-centric and media-dedicated device for consumers’ music, video, movies, etc.   Accessories are designed to protect, personalize and enhance your mobile devices.  Discover the latest innovative protective solutions and premium electronic accessories from the industry's most leading brands

How did this particular media player measure up? 40 GB if a microSD memory  card is used as well. That is a full 24 GB less than a high-end iPod Touch. Die hard Samsung fans can always supplement this storage limitation with memory card, USBs and the like, but is something consumers need to beware.

As for aesthetics… this media player lacks the satisfying gleam and sophistication of its counterparts and also its Galaxy family members. Cheap and plastic-like with a somewhat bulky frame, Samsung missed the mark. Its physicality could be overlooked if the sound on this device was even decent. Without headphones the sound is tinny. They try to cover up the bass deficits with the headphones they include (which are decent), but use another headphone set of your choice and your eardrums and feet will be sorely let down.   Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  Protect your devices from scratches and blemishes with our stylish top brand accessories.

The plus side is that Samsung was true to its word in regards to battery life and the hours of media play an end-user will experience. But at the end of the day, that is cold comfort for the price. Coming in at approximately $30 more than the iPod touch, Samsung will likely find few takers and a slew of excess inventory on its hands. This writer’s advice? Factor in all the costs in memory cards, USB sticks and headphones on top of below par camera, video, and sound quality. More likely than not, you are better off investing the cash in a high end, unlocked Samsung smartphone that will outperform and neatly keep all the same functionality in one pocket.

    Apple iPad 3 Rumors Abound

Even with Steve Jobs gone from the Apple helm, his revolutionary, consumer-inspired products continue to be hot on the market. Upcoming releases start the buzz early on and steadily grow in intensity... resulting in a resounding drone by the time the product actually arrives in Apple stores and the Occupy Apple Store participants can open their deceivingly simple boxes and lovingly put their new toys in their designer cases.   Discover the latest Apple iPhone, iPad, iPod and MackBook accessories

With the iCult in full force, be prepared to be inundated with news of the next generation iPad tablet that is rumored to be released between mid-March and mid-April of next year. A skeptic may ask “How do they know this?” Well. As of now this news is being cited as an anonymous source in Apple’s component supply chain by DigiTimes. The second generation iPad still has high production (in the 14 – 15 million unit range for 2011’s fourth quarter).  But come January, Apple will significantly drop its orders to suppliers to somewhere in the 4 to 5 million range. The supplier that gives its name and solid credence to these reports is Foxconn who has indicated that in the first quarter of 2012 they will build 9.5 – 9. 7 million iPad 3 units.  Protect your Apple devices with innovative protective solutions and premium electronic accessories from the industry's most leading bra

So with all this talk of production, what will be new with the next iPad? Well, as of now, this next Apple tablet is said to be a bit thicker than the iPad 2 which would leave room to include a high resolution Retina Display. Earlier speculation thought the next generation iPad would launch in February, but this latest news from suppliers clarifies matters. It remains to be seen if this difference in size will affect the versatility of accessories.  Enhance your mobility... turn your device into a power tool.  Discover select accessories specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

    Apple iPad 3 Rumors Abound

Because of the exclusive BGR report last week which stated Samsung’s timeline in revealing its new tablet at the Mobile World Congress in February. This new Samsung tablet may give the newest addition to the Apple family some genuine competition as it will be featuring a Retina-topping display resolution as well.

Translation? Samsung will have a first to market tablet with the Retina-topping screen. Likely to capture some market share and give Apple its first “run for its money” in the tablet sector.

Samsung ’Breaks out the Bubbly for a Record 2011'!

We applaud Samsung for surpassing the 300 million unit mark this year.  This is considerable growth over the previous 2010 when their sales totaled around the 280 million unit mark. This is a first in the company’s history and Samsung confirmed the sales reporting to Reuters. One can only assume that this success will translate into cornering more of the tablet market with  their family of Samsung Galaxy Tablets as well in the coming year.

When reviewing the most recent report from the market research and analysis firm, Strategy Analytics, Samsung’s mobile phone sales to distribution channels in the third quarter alone this year was 88 million. Clearly mobile device and unlocked cell phones are playing a major role in this South Korean company’s success. Another consideration should be the Android platform as well. It allows for a more open, global reach, that can only increase mobile device and protective accessories sales worldwide.

Samsung ’Breaks out the Bubbly for a Record 2011'!Android fans and tech savvy consumers continue to rave about the Samsung Galaxy S II cell phone which contributes to the stellar success of these smartphones for the company.  In fact, Samsung confirmed that its smartphone shipments last quarter totaled up to 27.9 million units. This number equates to another gold star for the company – it is now the number one smartphone vendor in the world by shipment volume. This success could in part be attributed to the availability of unlocked Samsung devices that create sales opportunities for those same savvy consumers in search of the most cost effective smartphone plan.  .   Accessories are designed to protect, personalize and enhance your mobile devices.  Discover the latest innovative protective solutions and premium electronic accessories from the industry's most leading brands

While their market leadership and achievements allows Samsung to  bask in the spotlight...  they don’t intend to rest on their laurels. For as the company’s president and head of mobile business, JK Shin, stated Sunday, ”We look forward to extending this success going into 2012.”

Apple Dominant Leading Force in Apps Download

Have you ever wondered if the - now commonplace nomenclature - of « app » was a derivative of « Apple »?  With the revolutionary concept of iTunes and its accompanying iPods, iPads, and iPhones, App and Apple have certainly been synonymous.  As the popularity of Apple products, devices, accessories, and everything in between continues to grow globally, it is no surprise that the company has announced a few landmark numbers to its adoring public.

Apparently Apple has been ramping up its AppStore, in a mere six times there has been an  increase of apps... from 425,000 in July to 500,000 this week.   More impressive is the number of those apps that have been downloaded. Since 2008, iOS users have downloaded over 18 billion apps. The 15 billion marker was hit in July, which indicates that the Apple momentum just keeps building up steam. At this rate, they are tracking to surpass 1 billion apps downloaded per month.   The popularity of accessories has been soaring likewise; discover the latest innovative protective solutions and premium electronic accessories from the industry's most leading brands.

In the words of the company itself, “Apple revolutionized the app industry with the App Store, which now has more than 500,000 apps and where customers have downloaded more than 18 billion apps and continue to download more than 1 billion apps per month.”

Apple Dominant Leading Force in Apps Download

Although less inspired , but not to be left behind, the Google Android Market now has 319,000 apps. This month the conglomerate also announced that they passed the 10 billion app download milestone. The expectation is that this competing purveyor of multi-tasking inducing apps will also average a rate of one billion app downloads per month.  This does have the potential to grow more exponentially than Apple because of Google Android’s greater distribution to smartphone device manufacturers and in turn being open to more markets with a greater choice of unlocked phones.  Enhance your mobility... turn your device into a power tool.  Discover the select accessories specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich

But as in any good industry competition, the consumers on both sides of the aisle will win with a greater choice of apps, more innovation, and feed our insatiable need for technology.

  • Why Hello Beautiful: Droid XYBOARD
Posted on December 13, 2011 by Pure Mobile

Why Hello Beautiful: Droid XYBOARDAny guy or gal on the dating scene will emphasize the importance of first impressions. Let's be honest, shopping around for our tech toys and gadgets is a lot like a first date. Good lines? Nice feel? Good fit? Dressed to impress with personality enhancing mobile accessories?

So when checking out the latest Motorola tablets, the DROID XYBOARD 8.2  - it quickly caught our attention and is worth the classic “pros” and “cons” list. In tablet-speak, the physical dimensions are nearing ideal at 8.2 inches. What should have been a beautiful fit in portrait orientation, Motorola made the decision to push a landscape orientation. This strange preferential treatment of landscape is also clear in the Motorola XOOM as well. When hand held,it is a more uncomfortable silhouette to handle than the portrait.  Choice of protective case may make a difference in comfort level, but that is a matter of personal preference for consumers. Protect your tablets with the latest innovative fashion design protective bags, sleeves and cases collection.

Why Hello Beautiful: Droid XYBOARDBut, when held in portrait the black bezel is almost too narrow for comfort. Where is the Goldilocks medium? Luckily, the svelte, light size of the tablet negates usage fatigue in the end-user. In fact, the tapered edges, thin body, and overall lightness really make this tablet incredibly attractive.  Enhance your mobility... turn your device into a power tool.  Discover select accessories specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

As any fashionista, this writer will own up to wanting to see equally attractive protective covers, cases, and the like to dress up this tablet. For the home, would like to see other accessories, such as , stylus & pens, docks, chargers, data cables, earpieces & headsets that integrate this kind of purchase into day to day living.

What’s more, the price point for this beauty is enticing at about $249). Agreements with Verizon are available for greater discounts on the device, but as always, look into carrier options and contracts as the long term cost seriously outweighs the upfront additional costs on the device.

Worthy of a second date? Likely. Do your homework and be comforted in the fact that the tablet market is ever growing and not nearly as exclusive / tied to carriers, so your choices are varied!

Nokia's latest product roadmap suggests that they are definitely on top of things! The Finnish company recently released their flagship Windows 7 smartphone, the Lumia 800 as part of the growing Nokia cell phone product line.  As good business practices dictate, they haven’t taken months to get a software update out to its customers to add “new sparkle dust” with some post-distribution improvements.

In the next two weeks the update will be rolled out ushering innovative performance enhancing changes.  While, not the most glamorous of enhancements,  Nokia will dramatically improve battery charging time - something so important when your phone starts to sputter out of juice.  A great “just in case” option for high consumption users is to leverage premium electronic accessories, such as, batteries, memory cards, data cables, stylus & pens to enhance their devices.Nokia On the Upswing – Lumia800 Update

Additional business oriented improvements were made to voicemail notifications and the email reply function for Microsoft Exchange 2003 - an business(imperative when working on the go.  Visually, Nokia has ameliorated the Lumia 800’s display allwing for improved viewing in bright lighting.  Your audio experience will also be positively tweaked with this update that brings higher quality sound through your headphones earpieces.

For the eager Nokia customers who have already purchased the Lumia 800, look for this software update to be made available through Microsoft Zune. Be aware that it is slated as a phased rolled out, to minimize stress on the system from simultaneous downloads. And for those expecting to see a new Nokia under the tree, another update with more improvements and fixes will be in sometime within the first part of 2012.  In the interim, additional memory or mini SD cards as well as cases and skins and other accessories can supplement your storage needs and enable you to  customize your Lumia 800 addition.
