Moshi for iPad
  • iSkin Vibes cases BlackBerry Z10 Black and Pink

One of the biggest pieces of news on the mobile front this week was the earlier than expected U.S. release of BlackBerry's newest all-touch handset, the Z10. But at the price they're going for at this early stage, we'd probably recommend some good protection, because you're going to want to take care of that baby. Good thing then that we at Pure Mobile just received a slew of BlackBerry Z10 cases just in time for those early adopters who just have to have the latest thing.

Though most major American carriers won't be getting the Z10 til March, early adopters can get the handset through new carrier Solavei for – get this  – $999 without a contract. Now, we're not here to judge. If the latest, hottest BlackBerry is worth a cool thousand to you, so be it. But our opinion, similar to Beyoncé's, has always been "if you like it then should'a put a skin on it."

iSkin's Vibes cases for BlackBerry Z10 in Black and Blue

Just in is iSkin's popular flexible Vibes case in a model for the Z10, a pretty good choice in terms of both practicality and looks. Available at Pure mobile in Black, vibrant Blue, or regal Purple, the Z10 Vibes case is felible, durable, and form-fitting, with a subtle and attractive textured pattern on the back for enhanced grip.

Made from a safe and non-toxic polymer that's both BPA- and lead-free, the Vibes case for BlackBerry Z10 is not only shock-resistant, it also uses iSkin's patented MicroBan anti-microbial protection to keep your phone clean and to keep you healthy.

And at almost 25% off right now on Pure Mobile, there's one thing you can say for the Z10 Vibes case case that you can't say about the device it protects – it's pretty cheap. And with its one year warranty, you know the Vibes case will last you a good while. Stay tuned, though, because even more BlackBerry Z10 accessories are slated to arrive at Pure Mobile in the coming weeks and days, and we'll be keeping you posted.

  • Lego iPhone cases Belkin Lego licensing agreement

Back in January, we at Pure Mobile were following all the hottest news in mobile accessories with the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show. And among the emergent trends was an iPhone case that was as nostalgic as it was novel.

Mobile accessories maker Smallworks showed off a series of LEGO iPhone cases they had in the works, including some elaborate models, like space ships and dinosaurs.

But another mobile accessories label, Belkin, also had their own LEGO-themed buildable iPhone cases out on display. And this week, they've officially announced a licensing deal with LEGO, meaning the little plastic building toys of our childhood will very soon be making their way onto our iPhone cases.

    Excited yet?

Well, you should be, because the this promises to be one of the coolest iPhone cases in years, especially since you should be able to totally customize them with compatible LEGO pieces.

No word yet though on how functional or shock absorbant they'll be. And we doubt they'll be able to rival the likes of Griffin or OtterBox's full-protection models. But still, we find the kid in us sort of wins out over the practical adult, and the cool factor of these LEGO iPhone cases alone is bound to be worth something to anyone who grew up in the 80s or 90s.

  • Smarterflo Smarter Stand for iPhone kickstarter project

Just like most people, Smarterflo product designer Dotan Saguy loves the iPhone. But as any good mobile accessories designer should, he's always looking for ways to make life easier. Enter the Smarter Stand for iPhone. Simple and ingenious, this new iPhone accessory from Starterflo is one of best ideas we've seen lately, solving two of the little issues we've all had with the iPhone for some time.

In a video for Kickstarter, where Smarterflo is trying to raise $15,000 to get the Smarter Stand made, Saguy explains how he first thought up his new design:

"There's two things that have been bugging me for years about the iPhone. The first one is, to try to prop it up against something is nearly impossible. The second thing is, when I try to bring my earbuds out of my pocket, to try to tangle them out is just a nightmare."

    Smarterflo_iphone_stand_kickstarter_Project_earbuds

But Saguy realized that using the iPhone's headphone plug could allow him to make an easily portable kickstand that didn't require a case for the device and didn't add any bulk. The result is a new, minialistic iPhone stand that plugs into the headphone jack while also allowing you to use your headphones and while keeping them tangle free.

To call the Smarter Stand a desktop stand is a little hyperbolic, since the accessory is so small you can slip it in your pocket and take it from place to place with you, another clever feature of this accessory. And, aside from acting as a spool for tangle-free earbuds, it works with or without a case and is compatible with both iPhone and iPod Touch.

This isn't the first stroke of genius to come out of Smarterflo. The company launched their Smarter Stand for iPad only this past June on Kickstarter, to amazing response and great success. And we at Pure Mobile have a feeling they're in for even greater things with their amazingly simple and exceedingly clever new iPhone accessory.

  • Nokia DT900 Wireless Charging Plate Black

When we're all old and gray, our grandkids will gather around and ask us to tell them stories of the olden days. And one of those tales will probably be about what is was like to use a phone charger you actually had to plug in. Wireless charging has officially become "a thing," and with accessories like their WIreless Plate Charger, the latest Nokia phone chargers are definitiely at the forefront of this technology.

With their most recent phones – the Lumia 820, Lumia 920, and Luna – Nokia has enabled wireless charging, making for possibly the most laid back charging procedure yet. The charger essentially just plugs into the wall, but beyond that, there are no wires to deal with. You just place your phone on top of the pad and it's done.

Nokia DT900 Wireless Charging Plate Black

How is this any different than using a regular phone charger, you may ask? Well, first consider how many times you've probably panicked, looking all over for your charger, with your phone battery at dangerously low levels. Now imagine your Nokia phone charger was pretty much stationary, always plugged into the same outlet, like a phone speaker or dock. Yep, that's pretty easy to find.

In general we think wireless charging is just a dandy idea. But in particular, we're failry impressed with Nokia's DT900 Wireless Charging Plate. It comes in fun, bright colors, as well as standard black or white, to match your Lumia 920. It's also compact and modern looking, the kind of thing that looks sleek on your desk and doesn't draw unwanted attention.

And for how new this technology really is and how handy of a gadget the Wireless Charging Plate can be, it's priced pretty cheap, around the $50 range. It's an accessory that's worth it for any owner of a new Nokia phone. And just imagine how much fun you'll have telling the grandkids that "back then," you were the first person on the block to get one.

  • ClarityOne w102 Over Ear Headphones White ClarityOne's new over-ear headphones with PureSound technology in white

There are a lot of high-end, high-performance universally compatible headphones and earbuds on the market. Beats by Dr. Dre probably comes to mind, and maybe even Incipio. But if you aren't already acquainted with ClarityOne, you're missing out. The company is responsible for some of the best earbuds we've ever seen (or heard?), and now, with their new over-ear headphones, they've earned our title of mobile accessory of the week yet again.

Last time we checked in with ClarityOne, we were amazed at the patented PureSound Processor used in their earbuds to eliminate all distortion and allow for top sound clarity. As one reviewer from BlackBerry OS noted, the PureSound processor isn't just a gimmick, but was more than 12 years in the making. It works by creating "opposing magnetic forces that cancel out the inductive reactance."

Not surprisingly, the company has put the same technology into their new over-ear headphones, so you get your music, and nothing else, in a comfortable over-ear model.

If you're curious about specs, BlackBerry OS  was good enough to put a list together:

    • Sensitivity (1kHz): 110dB SPL/mW
    • Frequency Range: 35 Hz – 17 kHz
    • Jack Plug: 3.5 mm stereo gold plated with 1/8 to /1/4 adapter
    • Cable Length: 48 in/1.12 m
    • Transducer: neodymium magnet
    • Impedance (1kHz): 8 ohm

    ClarityOne Over Ear Headphones Black

And, along with the fact that they provide pretty much the best sound you'll ever get from a set of headphones, extra thoughtful details, like the ability to swivel the headphones' earpieces, make these fairly hard to match.

Of course, ClarityOne's over-ear headphones are compatible with almost every device you can name – tablets like the Acer Iconica, Apple devices like iPhone and iPod, Samsung phones like the Galaxy line, and pretty much every other cell phone you can connect headphones to. So you can enjoy exceptional sound quality and clarity whenever and on whatever device.

  • New Moshi iGlaze Armour Case for iPhone 5 Moshi's new iGlaze Armour Cases for iPhone 5 comes in lustrous metallic finishes

When it comes to cell phone accessories, Moshi is one of the best. And that's especially true in respect to their collection of iPhone 5 cases, which seems to be growing on a weekly basis. Their speciality is in combining sleek and compact designs with a style that borders on runway-worthy. In fact, the company describes itself as a "purveyor of electronics fashion," rather than simply a maker of carrying cases and covers.

It's no surprise then that the latest Moshi iPhone 5 case is just as elegant (some would even say beautiful) as the rest of their accessories. A continuation of their popular iGlaze case series, the iGlaze Armour is a brilliant and lustrous iPhone 5 case with a sleek and rich-looking metallic finish.

Available in either Silver, a gold-like Bronze, or a shiny jet Black, the iGlaze Armour combines a polycarbonate frame with a diamond-cut aluminum backplate, so you get strength at the core and a seriously sexy metallic outer.

We at Pure Mobile are already carrying the Bronze version, and we hope we're not going too far in saying that it's so stunning and so elegant that, in the flesh, it's actually reminiscent of a gold brick.

It's a sophisticated, and more importantly, a practical choice for your iPhone 5. Glamorous for women, and sophisticated for men, it reminds us of something either James Bond or Marilyn Monroe could carry around.

Again, Moshi has proved itself not only one of the best, but possibly the most fashion-conscious of cell phone accessories makers, as the iGlaze Armour iPhone 5 Case goes beyond mere protection and practicality with an elevated and endlessly elegant appeal.

  • BlackBerry z10 all touch phone

For most of us in North America, BlackBerry's latest and hottest phone isn't even available yet. The company only unveiled their new all-touch Z10 device last week, but already there are signs that the smartphone (a total redesign for BlackBerry) could be worthy of the hopes the company has been pinning on it.

With the Z10 first released U.K., the response and early sales of the device already has the company beaming with pride. The company's U.K. Managing Director Stephen Bates told TechCrunch this week that some U.K. retailers have sold out within just days of the new BlackBerry's launch:

"The response we’ve seen exceeded all of our launch partners’ expectations. Customers are choosing to buy the BlackBerry Z10 in large numbers [...] In fact some of our partners have told us that they sold out over the weekend in some of their key retail locations."

And though Bates didn't offer any specific figures on those sales, he did add "The partners’ call centres are also flooded with calls, as people phone to ask for more information about the device, and also where and how to buy it.”

Meanwhile, in Canada, where the Z10 isn't available yet but where several carriers have opened up pre-ordering for it, it's been pretty popular too. Canadian carrier Bell is even planning to open their stores early for the Z10's launch, expecting big numbers. And what's more, according to a CIBC analyst, more than half of the pre-orders for the new all-touch BlackBerry are coming from people who are "non-BlackBerry users."

If BlackBerry's really going to parley their shiny new all-touch device into a brand resurrection, that's the kind of response they're going to need, as satisfying existing BlackBerry users simply won't be enough to help them compete with the likes of Apple and Android.

As for the U.S., the BlackBerry Z10 has for a March release date scheduled. And, for the company's sake, we'd hope it meets with at least equal entusiasm as it's seen overseas and with our friends to the North.

We at Pure Mobile think there's a pretty good chance of that, and we're already lining up our BlackBerry accessories and fun gadgets in time to welcome its arrival. In the meantime, we'll be keeping you up to date as we check on BlackBerry's progress in what is definitely a new chapter for the longtime mobile underdog and would-be comeback kid.

  • Today's man is stylish and cosmopolitain, well-connected and well dressed. And it's about time we found a laptop bag that answered to that. Good thing then that we at Pure Mobile recently came across the LE Rush from Be.ez.

Designed for MacBook Air and Macbook Pro up to 13-inch, It's one of the top styles we've seen in laptop travel bags for men on the go. Simple and classic, it's got the look of a sleek messenger bag – that all-season menswear staple – but comes with the storage, organization and protection you need for your MacBook laptop.

As much as we love the exterior of the LE Rush, especially in the modern and masculine brown and black "Black Coffee" finish, there ought to be something said here for its interior and for the quality of its construction.

Made with a high-durability and low-maintenance nylon outer, it's strong and dirt resistant, with handles and removable strap for either briefcase or messenger carrying styles.

On the inside, it boasts a custom-fit compartment for MacBook Air and MacBook pro laptops of up to 13 inches, with high-density padding to protect your device. There's also place for documents and a front pocket with contrasting brown inner on the flap for extra storage, so its really the only bag you need for work or school.

With the LE Rush Bag, Be.ez has done well by modern men, serving up a travel bag that looks more like fashion that it does a mobile accessory, but which offers the protection, comfort and organization you need from a laptop bag. It's just one thing that'll make your busy life that much easier, and it looks good to boot.

  • Incipio Capture Rugged Case for Ativ Smart PC in Black

We're beginning to see a growing trend in mobile devices. These days, more so than ever, device makers are offering up gadgets that don't squarely fit the mould of phone, tablet or PC. Phablets are but one example, and the recent Samsung ATIV Smart PC is another. As a result, mobile accessories makers are having to think outside the box, with cases, skins and other accessories that are just as unique as the devices themselves.

In the case of Sasung's ATIV Smart PC, writes Slash Gear "you’ve got a tablet that’s not meant to be as thin or mobile, instead concentrating on the idea that you’re going to be working with a backpack or a large carrying case to get this unit around, noting that it’s a large tablet first, and mobile second."

Incipio capture rugged case Samsung Ativ Smart PC black

And today's mobile accessory of the week gets that spot on. With q hybrid design that blends a plextonium inner hard shell and outer silicone skin, it offers the protection you'd expect from any good tablet case.

But since it's designed for a device that's not necessarily very portable, or not mobile in the strictest sense, it also boasts design features that address that fact. For instance, an integrated padded hand strap on the back of the case makes it easy to view content, or to simply move your ATIV Smart PC from room to room, the way you would an ordinary tablet.

So far, Incipio's Capture Rugged Case is one of the best examples we've seen of an accessory that's as unique as the gadget it's designed for. Without a doubt, Samsung will continue its foray into phablets, large tablets and other devices that blur the lines of product category. And we can only hope that Incipio will be right there to offer up carrying cases and accessories for these new breeds of phones and tablets.
