  • According to reports, the myTouch 3G Slide  phone has now been completely rooted by hacker eugene373. If you have the myTouch 3G Slide but wanted to be able to have access to a host of features, look no further as all that is required is for you to be able to root your device.  However, this process is not for the faint hearted as it can be a bit complex to handle, unless you follow the instructions well. In order to be able to root the myTouch 3G Slide , the most important thing you need to do is to make sure that you download the Slide Root file that should then be placed in the SDK directory. To do this, use command prompt and point it to the SDK/Tool Directory after which you should hold down the power button and the volume down button so as to power on the myTouch 3G Slide.

From command prompt type in ‘Loop’ and once you are given the menu choice, select ‘recovery’. Once the device has finished loading, there will be an additional icon ‘Offline Device’. Next what you have to do is to remove the USB attachment cable for the Slide and reattach it once again. Do not ignore this step as it is very important!! Finally choose ‘Update.zip’ and you should get a message saying that it has failed. Next push slideroot.zip by making use of the Android Debug Bridge and before you can press update, key in ‘command ready’ in command prompt. Next hit update and once you do so, you should be capable of pushing the file completely over. Once you have been successful in pushing the update.zip over, you should now be looking at ClockworkMod recovery. Using your keys navigate to the partitions menu so that you will be able to mount the system back again. To finish the rooting of the myTouch 3G Slide, simply hit the ‘back’ button to then choose the root zip file.

Once you have rebooted your unlocked smartphone, you will be able to do whatever you want.

  • Even though most people are already delighted with the recently launched Unlocked HTC ( EVO 4G ) network, this has not stopped the carrier from already announcing plans to unveil another 4G phone next year. This phone is stated to be the Samsung Galaxy S Pro that will also have the ability of utilizing WiMax services. Set to be the second 4G carrier for Sprint, the Samsung Galaxy S Pro is packed with a neat set of features.

Similar to the Galaxy S, the Pro version will also have a QWERTY keyboard and a similar Super AMOLED display screen. Although nothing is certain as yet, it has been stated that the 4G Samsung Galaxy S Pro will have a 4 inch screen together with a 1 GHz processor and 5 MP camera that is equipped with an LED flash. Running 512 MB of RAM and Google’s android operating system, you can be certain that there will be numerous features attached to this handset. Codenamed Hummingbird, reports suggest that the processor of the 4G Samsung Galaxy S Pro should give three times the triangles per second of an iPhone 3GS. This is definitely something that gamers are going to love.

It also makes a lot of sense for Sprint to go about carrying the 4G Samsung unlocked  Galaxy S ( Pro )    as it will not jeopardize any sales of the EVO due to its full QWERTY keyboard. However, we also hope that the Galaxy S Pro has a much better battery life as compared to the EVO. Although Sprint is the only carrier in the United States with a 4G phone, many other networks, such as Verizon, are also planning on rolling out 4G services. In fact, Verizon has planned to release a minimum of five handsets next year compatible with 4G networks.

Frankly speaking, we are about to see an entire fleet of phones released soon that would be 4G compatible.

  • Music on your unlocked mobile is soon to get a new lease on life as U.S. Cellular is planning on making use of the Master Content Service Provider solution from Zed so as to centralize the way in which such music can be delivered to mobile users. Through the implementation of this service, U.S. Cellular hopes to be able to provide a centralized system through which entertainment content on mobiles can be programmed, marketed, merchandized and distributed, irrespective of whether users access it via their mobile or through the internet.

So what does all this translate into? For end-users it simply relates to having the ability of assigning different ringback tunes to both, individual callers as well as group callers. In other words, in case an individual caller from your contact list calls, a particular ringback will play, whereas for a group contact, another ringback tone would play. At the same time, since this offer is being offered by U.S. Cellular, all U.S. Cellular subscribers would be able to purchase either monthly subscription plans or a la carte plans for the ringtone and ringback service. With the monthly subscription plan, it becomes possible to avail of various discounts on additional purchases over the normal two tones per month. Considering the fact that there are many U.S. Cellular customers in the country, the combination of U.S. Cellular together with Master Content Service Provider solution will definitely be very beneficial.

The Master Content Service of Zed allows all its company partners to boost their revenues and customer base though customer intelligence, portal and multichannel optimization, effective content management. Currently there are more than 32 unlocked cell phone carriers in the world that have already decided to partner together with Zed, U.S. Cellular being the latest arrival. Having more than 10 years in developing digital entertainment technologies for wireless industries makes Zed the one stop solution for most mobile network carriers.

  • With the release of various other flagship mobile devices by other providers such as Verizon’s Droid Incredible, the Unlocked IPhone 4 by Apple on AT&T or even the EVO 4G from Sprint, T-Mobile knew right from the start that its myTouch 3G Slide stood nearly no chance. However, they are still hoping that various software customizations and other tweaks would be able to help in attracting the buyers of the smartphone, especially first time buyers. Although there have been many different software updates released for the myTouch 3G Slide, the real question lies in whether it will be able to compare to other phones that are also being released in the market.

Although quite similar to the myTouch 3G, the newer myTouch 3G Slide is much bigger and heavier than its predecessor. Having dimensions of 4.55″ x 2.37″ x .6″, the myTouch 3G Slide also makes use of a complete QWERTY keypad that you can use to type in names and other messages. Even though it is not as light as the 3G, the 3G Slide can easily slide into your pocket.  On the right side, you will notice the hard camera button that releases the camera, whereas on the left there is the loudspeaker volume. There is also a microUSB port that is located at the bottom as well as a headphone jack that you will notice on the top. Although the entire face of the myTouch 3G Slide is occupied by the 3.5 inch screen, there are four buttons located at the bottom of the screen. These are the forward, back, Genius button as well as one that can be used for optical tracking. While these buttons might look great, the optical tracking button seems unnecessary, whereas other buttons are a bit hard to press.

In all, T-Mobile’s myTouch 3G Slide is quite a decent Unlocked Smartphone as it can provide you with nearly all you need.

  • Ladies and gentle mark your calendars as June 24th is the day that the iPhone 4 goes on sale.  In fact, it is estimated that around million will be sold within the first weekend itself. If you want to go ahead and purchase this iPhone 4, then you better be prepared for a rush at the Apple store. While the whole country awaits the launch of the iPhone 4, there is only drawback associated with it. It is only going to be available in black.  So in case you have psyched yourself up to purchase the iPhone 4 in white, you are in for a disappointment as Apple has released a statement stating that the white Unlocked IPhone 4 will not be available on launch date.

Leaded documents from AT&T have shown that many customers planning on purchasing the iPhone 4 on launch day will not be able to choose the color of the phone as only black versions of the phone will be on stock. The leaked documents have indicated that white counterparts of the iPhone 4 will be able to make an appearance only as early as summer. The document states that preorders for the iPhone 4 will only be accepted for the black version of the phone. If the document turns out to be true, there are definitely going to be disappointed customers, but you can be sure that there sales for the iPhone 4 will not suffer. So if you plan on getting your hands on the iPhone 4, you can visit your nearest Apple store for the black version of the phone in 16GB and 32GB versions.

Although AT&T will not stock the white version of the iPhone 4, it is possible that you might be able to get your hands on a different colored IPhone 4 Unlocked device from third party retailers, although chances are slim.

  • Apple iPhone 4 pre-order guide
Posted on June 17, 2010 by Pure Mobile

With the expectant news that the Unlocked  IPhone 4 is soon to be released across the country, buyers are everywhere queuing up to be the first ones to be able to get their hands on this phone. In case you are one such buyer and are planning on getting your hands on the iPhone 4, you will be happy to know that there is a pre-order guide that has been published by AT&T. While the iPhone 4 is set to be launched on June 24th, pre-orders are under way.

Although not much has been stated in this pre-guide, one rule that stands out from the rest is that each customer will only be able to purchase one iPhone. In fact, according to AT&T, only one iPhone 4 will be permitted perhousehold. While there might be some that are disheartened by this, it has most probably been done so as to help Apple cope with the immense demand that will soon follow the launching of for the iPhone 4. Apple is expecting a minimum of 1 million units sold at opening weekend.

We also know that the iPhone 4 will be available in various locations around the country such as Walmart, Best Buy as well as Radio Shack, it has still not be clarified as to whether one would be able to make pre order sales from them. While it was previously stated the Best Buy would allow such pre sales, reports suggest otherwise. There are also other reports coming in suggesting that Apple is preventing any pre orders from stores other than the Apple store, which means you would have to visit your Apple store to get your hands on the iPhone 4.

On the bright side, users are being encouraged by AT&T to have the IPhone 4 Unlocked Gadget shipped directly to their offices or homes so as to avoid activation directly from AT&T. this has been mainly done so as to quell the rush that is expected at the Apple stores. But you can be rest assured that this is in no way going to reduce the number of customers expected to visit the Apple stores around the country to get their hands on the iPhone 4.

  • It has now been revealed that a Sprint employee who leaked sales information of the Unlocked HTC (EVO 4G ) has been fired. The employee, whose name has not been released, disclosed information regarding sales of the HTC EVO 4G on the XDA-Developers forum. However, the information that was released turned out to be fake and so it is safe to assume that the employee is now regretting what he did.

While the actual number of units sold on the first two days was 66,483, Sprint had released a statement stating that sales of the HTC EVO 4G had resulted in record breaking numbers. In fact, it was claimed that the number of phones sold was so great that most stock supplies had sold out.  However, a later retraction by Sprint stated that the total number of HTC EVO 4G phones sold was on par with those of the Samsung Instinct, and Palm Pre combined and not greater.

While it is anyone’s guess as to why Sprint might have fired the employee, here is one guess. The number of 66,483 is well, quite unflattering and as such it might only include the sales from the actual Sprint stores and not fromother retail stores such as Radio Shack, walmart or Best Buy. In other words, there are chances that there would be a much higher sales figure, had such success also been included in the final sales total. But since the employee had already published the figures, it reflected quite poorly on Sprint and after tracking him down, Sprint must have let him go.

Sprint managed to find the employee located in Florida and sent a member of their taskforce to personally let him know that he was being let off. However, according to us, Sprint went through all this trouble mainly on account of the fact that they thought they would have sold many more products. Do you think, if Sprint managed to sell 300,000 HTC Unlocked ( EVO 4G ) mobiles they would have gone through such trouble.

  • Do you have an Unlocked Verizon BlackBerry Storm 9550 and have suddenly been facing certain problems in regards to some BlackBerry services? If so, then you are certainly not alone as reports have shown that users of unlocked versions of Verizon’s BlackBerry Storm have had their services mysteriously disabled. While it is still not certain as to why such services have been cut off, we believe that a single group has initiated this disable. It’s anybody’s guess as to who has cut off the service, whether T-Mobile, RIM or Verizon. Although some users have been able to get some form of data transfer working over EDGE, the main problem lies with the service books, which are mainly used for communications between RIM’s servers and the carrier. The Verizon BlackBerry Storm is also fitted with a SIM card slot that can be used for roaming n any 2G networks, even though it is primarily a CDMA mobile. This clearly shows that T-Mobile is now concerned with people also buying their phones and not just their services. Any support tickets that people submit to T-Mobile are simply answered with an inadequate “not our phone, not our problem”, which frankly if you ask me is just rude.

While such a type of blacklisting is not something that is characteristic of T-Mobile, it is similar to Verizon, which used to not allow GPS functions so that they could then only work on the subscription navigation plans of Verizon. While we are still guessing, it is possible that RIM and Verizon wanted to prevent any defectors for T-Mobile. There have been certain reports from users claiming that Verizon is not at all involved in such issues as Verizon and Vodafone are getting ‘friendly’ to the point that they are both interested in having this scenario work for them. We are still waiting for any official confirmation from T-Mobile on the issue.
