  • Chaos Rings, the swashbuckling RPG from Square Enix, made its debut on Apple’s unlocked iPhones4 close to 4 months back. The game was subjected to a tremendous amount of critical acclaim from various outlets. Soon enough Chaos Rings managed to secure a No.1 positioning on the basis of sales in a total 15 countries all over the world. After taking the phone gaming world by storm, this immensely popular creation is now here to conquer the iPad. The game was recently launched for the iPad platform and is receiving critical acclaim aplenty.

One close look at the iPad version of Chaos Rings reveals that nothing much has changed from the iPhone version that is of course, except for  the inculcation of HD graphics which was expected considering that the iPad has a much bigger screen. The game runs at a resolution of 1024×768.  Remember this game looked magnificent from a graphics point of view on the iPhone itself, upping the graphics on top of it can only add to the “wow factor” that won so much acclaim from all corners of the gaming world.

Would a new release from Square-Enix game be complete without a subsequent or simultaneous drop in prices for the remaining titles available through the App Store? When Chaos Rings for the iPhone was unleashed a few months ago, we saw a similar change in pricing for the other games from Square-Enix and it seems Square-Enix is bent on keeping the traditional price drop move alive. So if you want a Square-Enix release for cheap, just keep low till their next release and you’ll end up saving a few bucks at least. After all Square-Enix releases don’t come cheap at all. However Chaos Rings is one game we would recommend you don’t wait for a price cut in. Yes, ladies and gentlemen the game is THAT good!

  • No one was surprised in the fact that the Android device from Garminfone has not really hit on T-Mobile hugely, or nor for any other carriers, as it is said by Garmin that the cell phone division of them has not also performed as per as their hopes expectations.

The second quarter earnings of the company have given the following statement:

Sales of their smartphone product of contributed category of $27M revenued in while the quarter is going on. The time When all these were below their plan, they had been working with utter aggression with T-Mobile as well as other around the world carriers on their appropriate positioning as well as pricing of their devices in random competitive space of smartphone.

It did not surprise anybody terribly that the world is not set on fire by the Garminfone because several key features are missed by the device such as a jack of headphone! Even Android of modern version is also missing. Although to be fair enough, on-board maps are packed by it, so, quite unlike the Google Navigation, there is nothing to be worried about holding a continuous connection of Data for directions.

One solid quarter was posted by Garmin overall but unfortunately we cannot see a well bode future until and unless it can really up its games with the smartphones. The market of the device of personal navigation device is eventually likely to be dwindled as many more people now carry smartphone and that too with similar kind of navigation capabilities. It is quite sure that the phone sets are not quite that good as those dedicated devices; still it has got more convenience as well as enough good features for most of the cases.

Garmin to all its credits understands this well and it is making a team with Asus for producing Android phones.

  • MyTown, a location based check-in game from Booyah will now be made available in iTunes stores of countries like Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and so on. This is good news for a whole bunch of people, who had actually been waiting for this for quite some time now. It is not too much different from the location based check-ins from familiar elements such as Foursquare and Gowalla. Here, only a thick slather of game elements is added on top of the usual familiar material. The basic thing is altered just a little. Before, you had to go and check into a store to get your points. Here, it has almost been turned into the game of Monopoly, which allows you to ‘own’ the business that you decide to check into, and in its turn, charges rent from the other people who might be checking into that business. Another difference is that it puts out a list of the stores, according to specifications. The others, in this case tend to be friendlier towards the users with a huge variety of content.

A ‘scavenger hunt’ was also launched by Booyah today. What you have to do is check into locations, as many times as you require, and in your turn will be able to discover parts of a map, holding the clues to a ‘key’ that has been hidden somewhere in the city. Once you get to this key, you will be given a code, that you will need to mail to Booyah. This will enter you into a contest and you stand to win iTunes gift cards, and if you are really lucky, even an unlocked  iPhone4. However, the contest is only for the American users and the new regions will just have to wait out their turn to get lucky.

  • Cell phone technology is of a lot of great help in a lot of sectors or fields of life, one of the most important being in the health sector. And here is another important reason on how cell phone technology is of service to the health.

Jennifer Dyer, working as an endocrinologist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is the city of Columbus in Ohio, United States of America, holds the MD, MPH degrees. She has been working for a long time with diabetes patients, particularly young diabetes patients, those who are in their adolescent stage and had been working hard to find a method to remind her patients about their own treatment activities at different points in time throughout the day.

Finally, she was able to devise a method to do just that by developing an application for unlocked  iPhone4 users, who are in their adolescent stages, to remind them about them about their regular treatment activities, so that they do not miss a single dosage and mess with their treatment schedule. There was a pilot study just before this; examining if at all, text messages or SMS could be used to remind patients to take their dosages. This pilot study paved the way for the new application, which sends text messages to patients reminding them about their dosages. This pilot study found an increase in the adherence to treatment and improvement of blood glucose levels.

Dyer then, made an application for a grant and decided to test the application on a more wide scale. If it is made available to the masses, it will allow the people in the management of their health, particularly for those suffering from chronic illnesses like diabetes. The idea is a wonderful thing and particularly for the youngsters, who are highly into text messages, is very helpful to them.

  • Recently AT&T had assured the investors that loss of unlocked iPhone4, or any such exclusive matter, will not adversely affect their earnings. Let us take a silent moment before we burst into maniacal, uncontrollable laughter. AT&T believes this honestly, and is not simply blowing smoke up and insulting its investors’ intelligence. However, you can be certain that there will definitely be rough seas ahead.

Firstly, the iPhone has destroyed the market single-handedly in case of share of value. And in spite of android’s presence on several phone sets on every U.S. carrier, over a year was taken before it had the ability of eating away the market share of the iPhone. Every iPhone launch bested the last, demand for Apple smartphones has been too high to be available in bulk and waiting times for the phone grew even longer.

I guess AT&T owns a C- in logic class. May be the cell phone carrier is forgetting the large chunk of iPhone consumers every year are mainly new customers (they are new users having switched from different carriers). The fact of a number of subscribers being on business or family plans might offer users a pause before they switch, but rumours regarding some Verizon iPhone are growing continually louder leaving behind many who still have not bought an iPhone as it is in the fickle network of AT&T.

Other AT&T iPhone users were extremely vocal regarding switching the minute it comes on any other carrier — fees for cancellation be damned.

The only negative that would have to be handled is the termination fee raised by AT&T just before the launch of iPhone 4 unlocked handset. Moving between $175 and $325 is nothing, but plenty of customers are nearing the closure of the contracts and might even be quite happy in paying the prorated termination fees so that they can grab an iPhone elsewhere.

  • Brace yourselves – Android tablet costs $150. This is not much of a surprise considering the fact that the Augen Gen of Touch 78 version, holding a pirated application of the Android is being sold with the help of Kmart. Android being freely distributed, one needs licenses to use some proprietary Google apps, and it looks like for these licenses, Augen didn’t want to spring any expenses.

In order to receive the licenses of having Google applications (such as Google Maps, most likely the Market of android), one should be a part of Alliance for Open cellphone. Augen is not the reason for which some quirks in software are found. The Market of Android is present even in that tablet, but you will still not be allowed to download apps. Instead, applications can just be browsed until your eyes start bleeding. Although this is by far one of the best bargains you will ever be able to get, but a resistive feature of touch screen is quite bad. Apart from this, to add ice to this cake, the Market of Android has been installed only for viewing applications.

Just when the Augen tablet became a cheap Shkit piece, it won’t let you have the ability to install apps from Market, and you got to be limited by the feature of resistive and sensitively pressure handler touch screen. But I wonder if there had been any way to perform some magic and enable ADB to push and pull, that will let you be allowed to install apps from the line of command. If one of them were to have success in it, this wouldn’t be that bad having the Gen of Touch 78 version. It is not being said that it would be so good though, it never would be that poor in quality. It goes to just show that really there is no desirable tablet of Android around yet; I hardly think as well that Dell’s Streak may fit the bill.

  • If anything has been learnt by me from numerous hours of mine playing the game Castlevania Puzzle in your unlocked iphone4, it is that just as something is not always what you are used to, it does not mean necessarily that it is a bad thing. A big gamble was taken by Konami by delivering just one puzzle game inside a package of Castlevania. Do you think that the gamble paid off?

Castlevania Puzzle generally has you playing in the place of someone called Alucard and you are supposed to make your own way through the castle of Dracula in order to demolish it. You have a view of an awesome portion of this game, which is the map of the castle along with Alucard sprite running from one room to the other. And each of the rooms is accessed just by touching a line which is a link to the following room. One room is supposed to be accessed only with one certain ability, such as unlocking the doors, or a plenty of other ways are there.

While travelling from one room to the other room, you must run the great risk of walking into a foe. In this essence, I do mean that almost every room is expected to end in a battlefield. When you somehow run into any enemy, while changing the room there will be flashes of red in the background and you will be taken to the battle screen by the game itself. The battle screen while fighting places both you and your enemy characters supposedly in the mid-screen as they are having a “fight.” Both the sides of this game screen now have one playing field for each character. Two gems start dropping, and each of the players needs navigation to them to their any desired location.

  • Good news for Droid X users as Verizon and Motorola are assumably planning to enable Android 2.2 Froyo OS on the new smartphones in a month. For the Unlocked  Motorola Milestone Android phone user, you are expected to get the official Froyo update soon enough. Thanks to a leak in one of their support forums, we now know that Droid X will be updated to Android 2.2 by September.

Here’s the story. All of a sudden a Motorola support forum addressing issues regarding Exchange 2003 on Droid X leaked that it’s hinting at a more concrete update for Froyo. This should get all those Droid X users out there, really charged up.

An issue faced by Droid X users using Exchange 2003 email is that they are receiving mails but the notifications are not present. With the upgrade to Android 2.2 in early September, this snag should be fixed.

No indication is available as of now regarding when Verizon will make the update to Android 2.2 available to its DX user through an OTA update, but it can surely be said that it’s going to happen within four weeks or so. But there is a slight possibility that this might turn out to be a hoax.

The update will make your Unlocked Droid (X) get along with the JIT compiler which will speed up the overall performance, this will allow a V8 JavaScript engine to reach web browsing speeds like Google Chrome-like on your smartphone. It will also be able to use the support of Adobe Flash 10.1, and automatically update your Android apps.

  • Though available in the United Kingdom since June, Dell Streak unlocked cell phone is yet to land itself in USA. But many users are not aware of what they have been missing as the Streak only runs on Android 1.6. But there is good news after all this, as it is expected that the Streak will be running on a superior version of the Operating System.

If you have already presumed that it’s the Android 2.2 Froyo, then you’re wrong. It’s the Éclair; Android 2.1– Google has the knack of coming up with catchy nicknames for their cell phone operating systems. Right now we don’t have the option to make a choice, because the Android 2.1 is after all an improvement from 1.6. Many users will be joyous about the features that the Éclair will provide them. The keyboard for example has undergone massive improvement.

The Éclair also takes social networking a notch higher as it allows users to synchronise contacts with selected social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. It is also possible to get live wallpapers, though this is not an exceptional feature, but they do promise to look good on the large display of 5 inches of the Streak.

Éclair is presumed to be loaded with the Streak, as and when it launches in the USA. It would be advisable for Dell to do that as some smartphones have by now upgraded to Froyo Operating Systems. And, the bigger version of Streak headed for us who will assumable have the Android 2.2 pre-installed, Streak has to build up the excitement to make people expect better things from Dell. The modified Streak, promising to launch in the later part of the year, I would wait and look out for what comes out of the competition.

But immediately we can only hope that the Streak comes as early as possible.

  • The race is on to have the first working 4G network in USA, between MetroPCS, the little operator that could, and Verizon Wireless, while WiMAX is out of the question. During its last news conference, Chief Executive Officer Roger Linquist provided some information: Samsung SCH-r900 that is exceptionally difficult to pronounce and even more difficult to write, is the Samsung Craft. Its price is likely to be around $300. Though the operating system of the phone is currently not known, our guess is that it’s running Android.

The LTE network will launch initially in two markets: Dallas Fort Worth region of Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada, said Linquist. Just to inform you of how little of a company MetroPCS is, the number of customers is just 7 million, comparing that to Verizon’s 92 million customers which is more than 13 times of MetroPCS, and it becomes clear the difficulty Verizon faces to get their network functioning. Early 2011 is the expected time for the upgrade to LTE.

Nothing was mentioned about expected speeds of the cell phone. Verizon is expecting their LTE network to transfer data at rates of 6 to 12 megabits per second; on the other hand Clearwire is expected to deliver speeds of 20 to 70 megabits per second. 10 megabits per second is the speed T-Mobile with HSPA+ is providing today and according to rumours, their upgrade will result in producing speeds double or triple of what they are producing now.

With latencies much lower than preceding wireless technology, it’s also snappier, thus speed isn’t the only positive side of LTE. It is also much more capable in connecting more customers to towers already in place. These little improvements should accumulate to create a wireless experience that is miles ahead of what’s already available.

After Sweden and Norway, Japan is expected to get LTE in December and if things move smoothly as planned America doesn’t look much far behind either!
