Well, it is finally official.  Motorola and Verizon Wireless have announced today that the Motorola DEVOUR is available starting in March.  This is the first Verizon phone to use MOTOBLUR that makes the phone much more personalized.  This will allow you to be able to use addresses and contacts from work and play emails.  You can use Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Gmail to have content automatically delivered to the screen.  Hopefully the unlocked cell phone version will be available soon just like the Motorola Unlocked Milestone.

Some other key features and exciting uses include:

    Android 1.6
    Touch Pad
    3.1 inch Screen, 320 x 480 Resolution
    Happenings Widget
    Slide Out QWERTY keyboard
    Universal Inbox
    Security and Back Up Features
    8 GB microSD card
    Bluetooth Supported
    3 megapixel camera
    Talk Time, 340 minutes
What all of this means is that this newest Android based phone has access to all of the preload Google Talk, YouTube, Google Search, Google Maps and Navigation.  You will be able to go to the Android Market for use of the more than 20,000 exciting applications.  The MOTOBLUR will put all of your postings your wall posts, pictures and updates from your social network sites right on the home screen.  You will also have the back up feature through the secure portal so you will not lose your important information, and for those of you that lose your phone, the GPS feature can help find it.

The phone weights in at 5.89 ounces which is less than the 6 ounces that the Droid weighs in at.  It looks like is will be available in silver as well.  It is a sleek looking phone with the great pull out keyboard.  The screen size is certainly large enough to keep track of all of the postings and updates you receive each day from your friends.  The phone has not been priced yet, but speculation says that it will cost around $39.99, with a contract with Verizon.  It should be slightly cheaper than the Droid phones.  We can wait and see come March, when the phone should be available.  With all of the power and applications, it should give a boost to Verizon.  Don't forget those all important Motorola accessories to go with it.

  • Does the iPad Have Flash Browsing?
Posted on January 28, 2010 by Pure Mobile

With all the hype of the new Apple iPad there is one major downside.  There is no flash.  That means any site or game that is flash based will not work on the new iPad

During the press conference on January 27, 2010 someone over at Engadget snapped a photo showing the blue missing plugin icon for a flash object.

    Apple iPad Missing Flash

Granted this is not very unsurprising since the iPhone has never had flash support, but it is still frustrating.  Hopefully in the future Apple will finally.  Adobe posted a blog the other day saying that you can use it for the iPod, iPhone, and iPad.

We guess only time will tell

  • Apple iPad
Posted on January 27, 2010 by Pure Mobile

Apple has finally announced the iPad.  The iPad is like a large version of the iPhone.  From the looks of it the iPad seems great.

It's a very simple device and the specs are:

    • 0.5″ thick and 1.5lbs light
    • 9.7″ IPS display, capacitive multitouch touchscreen
    • Built-in accelerometer, mic, 30-pin connector, 802.11n Wi-Fi, compass, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
    • 10 hours of battery life and one month standby time!
    • 1GHz Apple A4 processor
    • 16GB, 32GB and 64GB Flash storage

The better news is that Apple announced the retails prices to be all under $1000.  The Apple iPad should be on the market in the next month or so.

  • Google Nexus One Termination Fees
Posted on January 22, 2010 by Pure Mobile

The recent launch of Google's highly anticipated phone offering, the 'Google Nexus One', has seen a fresh approach to the controversial process of payment plan termination. Customers wishing to end their plan prematurely will now be forced to pay the full difference in retail price, in relation to the subsidized price of the phone with Google's partner provider company, T-Mobile.

In this bold move by Google, they intend to combat the increasingly popular practice of customers opting out of their plans simply to sell their device on eBay. The concept involves customers purchasing an Unlocked Google Nexus One only receiving the subsidized rate if they see out a minimum “120 days” of their plan with the carrier T-Mobile on a two year agreement.

Although termination fees are nothing new in the lucrative mobile phone industry, in the past it has only been the carrier that has enforced such penalties. In this case, the phone hardware provider Google is seemingly cashing in as well, billing the termination item as the “Equipment Recovery Fee”. As a result, the subscriber is forced to pay termination fees to both manufacturer and service provider.

For example, if a customer terminates their contract within four months, they will pay T-Mobile $200 and Google $350. This amounts to $550 in total costs for terminating the two year plan.

General concern rests with Google's involvement in this process as it appears over protective of its device, possibly to the detriment of sales.

The increase in the termination fees will certainly aid Google in its fight against black market retail of the device, which is forecasted to be a huge problem.
The strategy certainly has further downsides. Unfortunately, legitimate customers who wish to terminate their plans will be expected to fork out the bill as well. Much discussion in online tech magazines revolves around this issue, as it is condemned to be poor consumer practice.

  • Apple iPhone OS 4.0 Coming Soon
Posted on January 20, 2010 by Pure Mobile

By now we all know that Apple has an event planned for January 27th, 2010 and the rumors about what was going to be announced have been running rampant.

Well now it looks like BoyGeniusReport has received some info from an Apple contact regarding the iPhone 4.0 operating system.

    According to BGR

    • There will be multi-touch gestures OS-wide. (Would make sense for that as the rumored OS for the iTablet is close if not the same as the iPhone)
    • “A few new ways” to run applications in the background — multitasking.
    • Many graphical and UI changes to make navigating through the OS easier and more efficient. We haven’t had this broken down, but we can only hope for improved notifications, a refreshed homescreen, etc.
    • The update will supposedly be available for only the iPhone 3G and 3GS, but will “put them ahead in the smartphone market because it will make them more like full-fledged computers” more than any other phone to date. Everyone is “really excited.”
    • The last piece of information is the most vague, but apparently there will be some brand new syncing ability for the contacts and calendar applications.

From the sounds of it the 4.0 software will finally give users some things they wanted, but anyone still using the original iPhone 2G will unfortunately not be able to upgrade.

Until January 27th we guess everyone will just have to sit tight and wait

  • Moshi Accessories and Company Review
Posted on January 15, 2010 by Pure Mobile

Are you interested in electronics, and prefer to buy your things from one brand? A great place to start is with Moshi accessories. Moshi has the perfect accessories for your IPhone, or MacBook Pro. Moshi also sells things like voice controlled alarm clocks, and their own pillows.

The alarm clock is hands free, and you set it by speaking. Some functions require you to touch the screen. You say a command to set the time, alarm, date, and it even has a night light. It is quite small, and would fit perfectly on any night side table. It rarely misunderstands commands, but you should speak clearly anyway. It is a fun little alarm clock, and a great Moshi product.
The Moshi pillows are generally a gift for children. They come as different cartoon characters. They come in a few different shapes and sizes, and are filled with tiny beads. The beads are what make the pillows soft and squishy. The outside material is made of some sort of spandex, allowing the pillows to be a little bit stretchy. The pillows even come with cleaning instructions.

The accessories that Moshi sell include Moshi MacBook Pro cases, and protective cell phone cases. They are stylish, and handy. If you are cautious about your computer or laptop getting dirty, or dusty, you could purchase a clear guard for the keyboard, or an iVisor to protect your screen. They also sell laptop shell cases, to place your MacBook into. They are small, compact, and perfect for you to carry your computer around in.

Other Moshi products include the pockiT, which is designed for small, compact cameras, and the nanopouch mobile, where you can store your IPod nano, or your mobile phone. All of Moshi’s products are stylish and useful. This is because Moshi’s designers make them to fit your lifestyle, design them to look great, and keep the quality of their electronic devices.
