  • Acer Iconia Tab A700 Leak

    December 30, 2011

With the near release of the Asus Transformer Prime and now the leak of the Acer Iconia Tab A700... the next-generation of Android tablets is upon us.  With the launch of the Iconia Tab A500 Acer gave direct competition to the Motorola Xoom as a sanctioned Android 3.0 tablet.

    Acer Iconia Tab A700 Leak

Where the Acer Iconia A500 saw marginal success... the Iconia A700 will rule in one major way, at least: by being outfitted with a  10.1 inch 1920×1080 pixel screen. Certainly the highest-quality density tablet screen on the market, the A700 is also expected to arrive early next year with a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 chip inside.  The latest trend setting fashionable accessories express your unique style!  Discover an extensive array of award-wining design protective cases and skins deliver modern style, stunning design and smart protection.  Make your mobile devices stand out.  Customize your look - how cool can you be?

For people who go crazy about high definition, the A700 tablet has got a micro-HDMI port. You will also be able to use 3G on the tablet as the A700 features a SIM card slot as well. Users will also be able to take photos and videos on the tablet using the 5 megapixel camera on the tablet, which also has flash.  Discover brand name data cables with the advanced designed engineered to work with the latest wireless and mobile devices.

To power up the tablet and to feature all these features and functions on the tablet, Acer has thrown in a 9,800 mAh battery in the tablet. The company promises 10 hours of battery backup on the tablet on one complete charge. With all these features you would think the tablet will be pretty fat and bulky. But in reality, the tablet is said to be thinner and lighter (at 1.43 pounds) when compared to the older Acer Iconia Tab A200.   Experience an extensive selection of the latest lithium technology replacement cell phone and wireless devices batteries.  Ensure your device is powered by brand name batteries for longer operating life.

Also, the tablet will have the Dolby Digital sound system. This is something which most of the users will love about the tablet. No matter what you do, there is good audio on the tablet for sure.  Re-discover music with XMI Speakers.  Uncompromised sound quality and a revolutionary design accentuating  today's interactive lifestyle.   Experience earpieces and headsets that combine sophisticated style and precision engineering that deliver brilliant sound for your total listening pleasure.

    Acer Iconia Tab A700 Leak

As long as Acer keeps the material quality high and ships with Android 4.0, the A700 will sure to be a success. The design looks to be cleaner, darker and overall sleeker than its predecessor, and while it may not equal the lithe profile of the Asus, if the price is right people will flock to it. Or, at least, I will.   Get powered up for work, life and play easily and conveniently with their collection of desktop chargers, wall chargers and car chargers.   Get all the power and energy you need for the mobile lifestyle.

  • Acer Continues to Tackle Tablet Market
Posted on December 30, 2011 by Pure Mobile

Acer has long been a key player in the computer world. Their strong showing in the personal computer market space should have indicated a propensity to do well in the tablet market (here is an interesting inforgraphic on Tablet Takeover) the as another “endpoint segment.” So far that is not the case.

Acer Continues to Tackle Tablet Market2011 saw disappointing sales for the  Acer Iconia Tablet, but they are determined to persevere with tablet releases in 2012. Despite this continuation, there are rumors that Acer may be slowing its tablet production in the upcoming year. Acer’s founder, Stan Shih, did state that they are not following trend s of the rumor mill and the company is not ready to give up on tablets. Also, they will be continuing with their smartphone production and have no projects on the chopping block at the moment in contradiction of recent reports.

Will Acer turn to innovative mobile accessories, such as protective bags, sleeves and cases to boost customer loyalty and sales in an increasingly competitive market? The New Year will bring news of this. The manufacturer may take the route of increasing its user base with unlocked cell phones. Or it may attempt to corner markets with signing exclusivity contracts with carriers. This writer’s take is that the smartphone and tablet manufacturer will be better suited to winning over the hearts and minds of the consumer market than riding the coattails of cellular carriers that are easily and frequently vilified by governments and consumers alike.

The founder made sure to note in his statement to DigiTimes that his Taiwan based company was slow to get its start in the notebook market as well. Taking the slow and steady method, Acer did become one of the world’s most recognizable and top PC vendors. Certainly not a competitor to take out of the race precipitously.

  • iPhone 5 – At Last!?
Posted on December 30, 2011 by Pure Mobile

    By Aldo Panessidi

    December 30, 2011

Investors, speculators and rubberneckers alike are already speculating about Apple’s future after the recent loss of Steve Jobs. Will lines still abound upon the release of new products? Will there be the innovation? Will there be the continued customer loyalty?  Will there be mobile accessories designed to protect, personalize and enhance devices.

iPhone 5 – At Last!? Well, as the iPhone 4S was released in lieu of the mythical iPhone 5, customers may have been slightly let down in 2011. However, resources indicate the next generation of iPhones will be released in 2012. Will that include shiny new Apple accessories? That may remain to be seen at the upcoming mobile technology conference in February 2012.  Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  The latest innovative protection solutions such as stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases allow you to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name cases and skins protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

Luckily for Apple, the release of accompanying accessories can wait until next fall when v5 of the revolutionary smartphone is slated to be released (likely to fall in line approximately one year after the iPhone Siri release with the 4S).  Enhance your mobility and turn your device into a power tool! Discover select accessories, such as stylus & pens, SD Micro memory cards, batteries, speakers and glider gloves all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

So what details of this up and coming device are churning around the rumor mill? Sounds like Apple is intending to use a plastic or rubber material (much like the materials used in the bumper case accessories currently sold independently of the mobile devices). This design falls in line with previous iPhone versions (mainly the 3GS) which had a bezel that surrounds the edges.  Get powered up for work, life and play easily and conveniently with their collection of desktop chargers, wall chargers and car chargers.   Get all the power and energy you need for the mobile lifestyle.

iPhone 5 – At Last!?This serves two purposes – joining the glass of the iPhone front to the aluminum back plate (no need for the above antenna large plastic inserts on some Apple “I” products).

At the moment, some sources report that the next generation iPhone will rock an aluminum case (comparable to that found on the iPad 2). This newest devices should also include a larger display of approximately four inches. This is in line with the latest smartphone trends towards bigger and better screen displays. Thankfully for those of us who use our technology to feed into larger screens, there are HDMI and other cables available to use smartphones and media devices to stream a plethora of media.

Keep posted as 2012 brings more details on Apple’s new leadership and upcoming products!

  • 2011 In Retrospect - RIM on the Ropes
Posted on December 29, 2011 by Pure Mobile

    By Aldo Panessidi

In retrospect, 2011 was a huge year for the wireless industry.  With a giant falling at the same time that global mobile connections surpassed 6 billion, and worldwide smartphone penetration approaching 10%... all in a world with 7 billion people .   The availability of connected devices within the market place has fueled a meteoric rise in usage across all ages... with, smartphone penetration in the United States topping 44%.   The accessories market has also seen skyrocketing growth in stride with the surge in mobile device usage.  Consumer's are not taking any risk with their expensive devices preferring to protect them from scratches and blemishes in innovative designer inspired bags, sleeves and protective cases.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside these brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

The smartphone's rapid growth and continued market expansion can be attributed to two leading platforms Adroid and iOS  while other operating system platforms continue to struggle to maintain onto their meager share of the market.

While Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS is heralded as a breath of fresh air... sales and consumer interest continue to be disappointing.  Alas! What can we say of our beleaguered and fallen giant ... RIM;  once the pearl of the mobile industry;  now with the failure of the PlayBook tablet and the BlackBerry OS, which was once the most desirable mobile experience continues to be  continues to be plagued with security issues.  Enhance your mobility... turn your device into a power tool.  Discover the select accessories, such as, stylus & pens, data cables, batteries, SD micro cards, desktop chargers, earpieces & headsets as well as glider gloves all specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

The onset of 2011 looked very promising for RIM.... which unveiled a number of next-generation devices; including the 9300 Curve, 9900 Touch, 9930 Bold Touch and the highly anticipated BlackBerry Dakota.  RIM was also hard at work on it first tablet offering - the BlackBerry Playbook.  RIM offered a number of options to developers with the ability to support Android based application for it first QNX-based device.  Brilliant move right.... it would give RIM access to Google's massive Android ecosystem and provide PlayBook users with a huge catalog of apps available upon launch.  Unfortunately, things don't always go according to plan... and for Rim, boy did this turn out to be a snafu!

The Playbook launched in April amidst challenges and controversy.  Due in part to the pressing need to have a tablet on the market... the PlayBook debut was marred by the lack of native support for email, contacts, calendar or even the highly-regarded chat client that put BlackBerry devices on the map - the BlackBerry Messenger.   Furthermore, the tablet launched without support for Android applications and the current catalog of lackluster apps remain a huge problem for RIM to this day.   Let the latest in trend setting fashionable accessories express your unique style!  Experience  an extensive array of award-wining design protective cases and skins that deliver modern style, stunning design and smart protection.  Make your mobile devices stand out.  Customize your look - how cool can you be?

To compound matters even further,  despite RIM’s best efforts it was only ready to announce one device at the BlackBerry World conference in late April - the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 and while it was a device BlackBerry users had been clamoring for, it also came to market more than a year later than it should have with an operating system and user interface that was stale at best.

Worse was yet to come as internal stirrings set off seismic quakes after pent up unrest among RIM’s own employees finally reached its boiling point.  At the breaking point and completely exasperated  a high-level RIM executive published an open letter in an effort to get his message across to RIM’s top ss.   In its response to the open letter, RIM indicated that while it was addressing several issues, the company was “thankfully in a solid business and financial position to tackle the opportunities ahead.” Despite, cheery forecast by RIM's top management , company would go on to disappoint with its second and third-quarter earnings, and its fourth-quarter guidance suggested that relief would not come soon.  Discover XMI Speaker's uncompromised sound quality and a revolutionary design accentuating  today's interactive lifestyle.   Earpieces and headsets combine sophisticated style and precision engineering that deliver brilliant sound for your total listening pleasure.

Today, RIM remains between a rock and a hard place.  In the midst of continually weakening sales, the first PlayBook  update is scheduled for February 2012; providing native email support and other PIM functionality, BBM is still proving to be a challenge and will not be part this 'fix'.  Even more disturbing is the fact that the first RIM smartphone to run on the new BlackBerry 10 OS  - the BlackBerry London - will be delayed until delayed until late 2012.  Discover an extensive selection of the latest lithium technology replacement cell phone and wireless devices batteries.  Ensure your device is powered by brand name batteries for longer operating life.

Of major concern is the latest controversy brewing at RIM... inside sources at RIM have indicated to BGR that Mike Lizaridis was lying when he said that the company's new lineup was delayed due to the setback get LTE chips.    In fact BGR claims it was told that RIM is simply pushing this out as long as they can for one reason, they don’t have a working product yet."   According to BGR, their source communicated something shocking for a high-level RIM employee to say. He told BGR that RIM is betting its business on a platform and ecosystem that isn’t even as good as iPhone OS 1.0 or Android 2.0. “There’s no room for a fourth ecosystem,” he stated, “and DingleBerry also works on BlackBerry 10.”   Get powered up for work, life and play easily and conveniently with a collection of desktop chargers , wall chargers and car chargers.   Get all the power and energy you need for the mobile lifestyle.

There is no question that RIM has the talent to succeed in the modern smartphone market. It also has a user base that continues to grow with each quarter. The vendor has a lot of catching up to do, however, and it once it finally does launch its first BlackBerry 10 phone, it had better be a blockbuster with a massive marketing budget to back up its launch. In the meantime, RIM has a tough six-plus months ahead.

Between December 1st and December 20th, activations teetered between 1.3 million and 1.8 million devices per day, or an average of 1.5 million daily activations. That figure jumped 353% on December 25th, however, with 6.8 million iOS and Android devices having been activated according to Flurry.   Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  Discover innovative protection solutions such as stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases designed to allow you to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes with our.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside brand name protection accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

The company also noticed a surge in new application downloads, no doubt propelled by the increased number of devices being activated. Between December 1st and December 20th, iOS and Android users downloaded about 108 million applications per day. On Christmas Day, downloads increased 252% to more than 242 million new Android and iOS apps were downloaded. Flurry explained that figure is “more than double any other day in the history of iOS and Android devices, except December 24, which delivered roughly 150 million downloads.” Finally, Flurry found that new Android and iOS phone users downloaded the largest volume of applications between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm (normalized) on Christmas Day, with peak hourly downloads exceeding 15 million.  Enhance your mobility!  Discover accessories such as, stylus & pens, Desk top chargers, SD memory cards, batteries, BleuTooth Headsets and XMI Speakers that turn your device into a power tool.  Experience these select accessories specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

A Record 6.8 million Android and iOS Devices Activated During Christmas Weekend Google’s Android head Andy Rubin confirmed via Twitter on Wednesday that there were a total of 3.7 million Android devices activated on December 24th and December 25th combined. Google recently said that there are now more than 700,000 Android devices activated per day on average, which means the average daily activation figure was more than doubled over the holiday weekend. Flurry Analytics reported earlier this week that iOS and Android activations jumped 353% during the holiday weekend to set a new record for the most activations in a single day. Flurry also said more than 6.8 million Android and iOS devices were activated on December 25th (Christmas Day) alone.

  • BlackBerry Curve 9380 Review
Posted on December 29, 2011 by Pure Mobile

    By:  Aldo Panessidi

    December 29, 2011

The BlackBerry Curve 9380 is RIM’s first ever-released Curve with a touch screen. The Curve product line is usually an expression of RIM’s understanding for a budget phone and this one supposedly, doesn’t make a difference. It should attract customers with a lower entry price while offering the full BB OS 7 experience.

Physically the BlackBerry Curve 9380's measurements are a svelte 109mmx60mmx11.2mm with a 3.2 inch display... weighing just 98grams makes the unlocked cell phone very pocket friendly.

The new Curve 9380 is basically a downgraded Torch 9860 – it has a less-capable processor and smaller and low-res display.   The BlackBerry Curve 9380 comes with a standard set of accessories - a USB cable, a wall charger and a set of headphones are provided. In addition there is a complimentary 2GB MicroSD card as well.

The following Blackberry Curve 9380 video provides great user interface insight

The BlackBerry Curve 9380 comes with a fixed-focus single LED flash camera offering the highest resolution of all RIM smartphones.  It does however, have a relatively low number of customizable settings.  The image quality is about average with pleasing colors and a good amount detail.

It is incapable of capturing HD videos due in part to its lower processor clock.   The best it can do is VGA clips at 30 frames per second (fps).  The video quality is up, however overall audio is poor.  Enhance your mobility and turn your device into a power tool.  Discover select, stylus & pens, earpieces & headphones, data cables, desktop chargers, car kits and special glider gloves,  accessories specifically designed to make your devices functionally efficient and performance rich.

The web browser is fast and responsive, however, it does not support Flash.  It does provide a solid set of organizer tools. Leaving your valuable mobile devices unprotected is risky!  Discover the latest  innovative protection solutions of stylish top brand bags, sleeves and cases designed to allow you to protect your devices from scratches and blemishes.  Tough on the outside, sweet on the inside brand name protection cases and skins accessories combine complete device coverage with sleek artistic expression.

The following is a snapshot of the Curve 9380 full feature list, followed by its disadvantages.

    Key features:

    • 3.2" 16M-color TFT touchscreen of HVGA resolution (360 x 480 pixels)
    • Quad-band GSM support and tri-band 3G with HSDPA
    • Single-core 800MHz processor
    • 512MB RAM
    • BlackBerry OS v7
    • BlackBerry’s proprietary email service and data security
    • Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity
    • GPS receiver and BlackBerry maps preloaded
    • 5 megapixel fixed-focus camera and a LED flash
    • VGA video recording @ 30 fps
    • 150MB of inbuilt storage
    • 2GB MicroSD card pre-bundled
    • Four physical buttons at the bottom
    • Optical trackpad
    • Hot-swappable microSD card slot (up to 16GB)
    • DivX and Xvid video support
    • Office document editor
    • 3.5 mm audio jack
    • Smart dialing
    • Ultra-fast boot times
    • Solid build quality

    Main disadvantages:

    • BlackBerry Internet Service account is a must to enjoy all the phone features
    • No physical QWERTY keyboard (a potential deal breaker for a BlackBerry)
    • No videocalling and no front facing camera either
    • No Flash support for the web browser
    • No FM radio
    • Screen has no haptic feedback
    • Poor audio quality and loudspeaker performance
