Moshi for iPad
  • As per one of the leading unlocked cell phone blog site, it is easy to see why iPad’s or other tablet devices would be solid purchases for members of parliament. Having all that power on the go would probably allow them to stay connected with their people a little bit easier. However, it was recently released that the ruling by the Board of Internal Economy (a ruling that was actually placed in November) that states that the board did not agree to allow them to purchase the iPads because of the great expense.

Not including taxes, the iPad’s would probably cost more than $160,000 in total.  Another reason behind the decision was that the “house system is totally based on Microsoft.” The ruling suggested that perhaps the infrastructure would be different and would cause issues as well. Of course, this does not seem like that valid of an excuse given how user friendly the iPad is and has been as a whole.

Many of the parliament members have purchased the iPad on their own dime since the ruling came down. Had they allowed members to use the iPad, they would have become the first major country to adopt the iPad on a government level as a legitimate tracking tool. It will be interesting to see how many decide to go out and buy tablet solutions on their own. It is easy to see how a purchase like this could benefit parliament members. They would probably be more likely to stay in contact with the general public and would have a device that would allow them to constantly update on progress during negotiations and share information with other members of parliament.

Although problems regarding infrastructure were cited as the reasoning behind the decision, the cost probably had more to do with it than anything else. Thousands of dollars on devices that are not required for the job is a hard sell, especially with the economy the way that it is today.

  • BlackBerry Storm 3 Video
Posted on February 25, 2011 by Pure Mobile

The BlackBerry Monaco, also known as the Storm 3 has been widely reported on, and Research In Motion has not yet confirmed its existence at this time. The phone is set to launch in September for Verizon Wireless, according to a number of different reports, and will be the third version of the Unlocked Blackberry Storm series.

The device looks very similar to previous versions of the phone. It will still have the trackpad that was seen on the earlier versions, and will have a touchscreen display, along with a beautiful looking screen. RIM is continuing their efforts to bring the BlackBerry platform back to touchscreen phones. They have had a number of previous touchscreen launches  but have never really been able to deliver in the same way that other smart devices have.

The BlackBerry OS is traditionally meant for QWERTY keyboard devices. Transferring users over to a touchscreen device may take a little bit of getting used to. With the upcoming PlayBook just on the horizon, it is clear that the company would like to move a larger portion of their business to touchscreen phones so that they can easily attempt to capture the non-business market.

Specs for the device have not yet been made available, but it is believed to feature a 1.2 GHz processor, and have NFC compatibility which will make it one of the most high powered phone releases to date from Research In Motion. The video that appeared online today pretty much confirms the existence of the phone that has been rumored for quite some time. It will be interesting to see if this forces Research In Motion to acknowledge the phone and release additional information about the specs.

  • Windows Phone 7 Update Is Here
Posted on February 24, 2011 by Pure Mobile

Microsoft announced that the first update for their Windows Phone 7 operating system such Unlocked LG c900 is finally here. The update has been rumored to be coming soon for quite some time. Although it has been highly anticipated, some of the more prominent feature upgrades were not included. The upgrades that many were expecting, such as the ability to copy and paste, were mysteriously absent in the first upgrade for the operating system that is suddenly gaining a following.

It also does not include third party multitasking support, which was one of the biggest features that many thought may be included in the update. The update does provide users with a number of fixes, and is probably serving as a test run for the company to roll out bigger, more prominent features in the future. This might end up being a good thing, and allow them to seamlessly transition in the future when these features are added.

Users will likely first hear about the update on their phones. They will be notified directly on their devices. They will also need to connect their phones to a desktop computer in order to install the new software.

Now that the first update for Windows Phone 7 has been released, you can expect the company to more continually roll out updates in the future. With these prominent features not included, Microsoft probably knows that they are disappointing some users that were expecting to be able to copy and paste and also multi-task.

Microsoft addressed these issues on their Windows Phone Blog, and provided users with information regarding everything that is included in the update. They claimed that it is “praving the way for all future goodie-filled updates,” making it sound as if this update was a preliminary update more than anything.

  • inPulse Smartwatch Now Available for BB
Posted on February 24, 2011 by Pure Mobile

The inPulse Smartwatch has been a much anticipated product for quite some time. There are a number of different colors and styles, and each model will be differently priced. You can expect to pay anywhere from $150 to $200 for the different models of inPulse Smartwatch.

The watch will connect you with others by allowing you to send text messages, craft emails and even make incoming calls right on your watch. This will be great for users that want to stay connected but don’t want to look rude by pulling their phone out.

The devices will also have calendar events, and will function as a wrist-based planner as much as it is a smart device. There are already several apps that are available, including iTunes, which will allow you to play music directly through the watch. Another app that is already available is Presenter, which allows you to check out presentations on your phone. The service is actually connected directly with unlocked BlackBerry phones, and will use the service that you receive for your BlackBerry device.

The inPulse app has been highly anticipated by mobile users. The idea of being able to perform smart phone functions from a watch on your wrist is certainly interesting to say the least, and could come in handy for situations where phone use is not appropriate. Could these be the start of other accessory devices that connect you directly to the service that you receive on your phone?

These will serve as the first generation of watch-based devices, and should pave the way for future generations. Because they have received so much attention already, you can bet that they will be looking to expand their features and options moving forward. The convenience provided by inPulse Smartwatches is something that any businessman on the go should be interested in.

  • AT&T HTC Inspire 4G Not Really 4G
Posted on February 24, 2011 by Pure Mobile

The AT&T Unlocked HTC (Inspire 4G) name would suggest that the phone was compatible with 4G networks. This is not always the case, as we have learned from several previous device launches. The phone does not feature full 4 G HSPA+ compatibility as provided by the AT&T network. AT&T went ahead and announced at the Consumer Electronics Show that their network had been upgraded in the same way that T-Mobile made their announcement at the same show - by surprise.

Now it appears that the phone is not even as fast as some of the 3G phones on the network. Tests have shown that downloads are slowed, uploads are excruciatingly slow, and overall the device seems to run much more slowly than you would think that it would.

So now it appears that carriers are just placing the “4G” sticker on smart devices without even offering the full compatibility. This is not something that will make most consumers happy, and they should have guessed that it would be discovered at some point. Now it has to make you wonder if future phones with the 4G title will have similar issues with the company’s network. Perhaps the company disabled the 4G ability in the firmware.

AT&T has yet to comment on the reports about the phone not accessing the 4G network in the same way that was promised by the company during the Consumer Electronics Show. With their announcement of their upgraded network you would have thought that new phones with the “4G” label would be able to access the network, but that does not seem to be the case here. It will be interesting to see how they comment on the story over the course of the next few days, or if they let the reports fall by the wayside and ignore them.

  • As per one of the leading unlocked cell phone blog site, Redbox clarified rumors that they were planning to launch a streaming Netflix competitor later this year. CEO of Coinstar, the company that owns Redbox, confirmed that the service was in the works last year during an earnings call, but did not elaborate on how it would operate or how soon users could expect to use the service. He also did not have any information regarding the pricing model that would be employed with the new service.

Lowe confirmed today that the new service will be a subscription service in the same way that Netflix is run. No further information regarding exact pricing was given. At this point in time, Redbox runs unmanned DVD rental machines that allow users to rent a movie for one dollar per night. These kiosks are usually stocked with the latest new releases in an effort to compete with video rental stores.

Redbox did not reveal whether or not they had a partner for their upcoming streaming service, but it is assumed that they could not operate a subscription based streaming service without first partnering with a company that has the hardware to back up the operation.

Redbox is looking to directly compete with Netflix, after easily taking hold of the movie rental market. With Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, and other movie rental companies struggling to stay afloat with high rent prices, Redbox was ahead of the game when they launched the unmanned do it yourself kiosks that have become highly popular in recent years. It will be interesting to see how well RedBox will be able to compete with Netflix, which has already established themselves as the leader in the streaming market after cutting deals with all of the major console gaming systems, allowing gamers to link right up with their library of streaming movies and play them directly through the console platform.

  • Have you ever worried about falling asleep while you are driving? What if you could have an app on your unlocked iphone 4 that would help you to stay awake even when you are on a long road trip and are having trouble staying awake with the heater blaring at you?

A new app called the Anti-sleep Pilot app will help you to stay awake. The app is built to help you out when you might be tiring on the road. When you first start up the app, you give the app a number of details about you to give it a good idea of when it needs to start working. The app will also take the time of the day into account straight from your iPhone 4 unlocked clock. Some of the questions will deal with your work hours and when you expect to fall asleep at night.

The app tries to judge exactly how alert you are and tries to judge when you should probably pull over and sleep it off for a little bit. Unfortunately, the app costs twenty dollars, which seems a bit high given what other apps are out there for much lower prices. In today’s day and age, nearly everyone thinks that they are the best drivers on the road so this app may not take off like the company had hoped it would, but nonetheless it is a very interesting idea and could help out individuals that have long commutes.

It will be tough to convince individuals to make the purchase at this high price tag but for those that truly need it, it might just have the perfect price point for making sure that you do not fall asleep behind the wheel. Expect to see some copy cat apps coming out in the future for a lower price point since most publications have pointed to the price as the largest drawback for a potentially very solid app.

  • Apple is always looking for ways to improve their existing products in an effort to keep up with the market. With more high powered devices boasting about the life of their batteries, Apple is scrambling to find ways to increase the battery life of their unlocked iphone 4, ipad, ipod. In a recent patent filing, that was titled Increasing Energy Density in Rechargeable Lithium Battery Cells, the patent describes technology that Apple is experimenting with. According to the way that it was described in the filing, the new technology would allow them to increase the capacity of the battery without changing the size or the amount of time that it takes to charge the battery.

Essentially, the change would go unnoticed to most consumers, but would greatly improve the life of the battery. Apple’s mobile devices have always had a fairly impressive battery life when you compare them to other smart devices that are currently in the market. It would be interesting to see how far Apple can take the new design and exactly how much extra battery life it would provide most of the users.

As more phones become high powered, it is hard to create batteries that will fit inside of the device and not have to diminish the power of the battery. No one wants to have to charge their phone halfway through the day, but as the battery is continually used, the overall effectiveness will slow down, which is something that Apple is looking to put a stop to with a new design.

Apple’s iPhone 4 unlocked is still one of the best smart devices in terms of battery life, but an upgrade would really put them ahead of most of the competition and would be a great thing for future generations of the highly popular phone. As Apple continues to innovative to improve upon their design, it seems as if the media is always a step behind their moves, as this technology was not discussed until the patent leaked.

  • There is no doubt that Apple easily has the biggest App store in the world. They were able to generate more than $760 million in revenue through their app store in 2009, a number that increased to more than $1,782 in 2010, over 80% growth in just one year.

BlackBerry App for BlackBerry Phones such as Torch 9800, Bold 9780 unlocked, etc world now sits in second. They had done over #36 million in 2009 in terms of revenue, and were able to move that number up to $165 million in 2010, proving that they belong in the top tier of app markets. You might be a little surprised to find out that the Nokia Ovi Store was in third place, still above the surging Google Android Market, which was in fourth by just 3 million less than the Nokia Ovi Store.

As of right now Google Android Market has over 150,000 apps available for their users, but that doesn’t seemed to have help them move up in terms of revenue above the competing companies in the space. The BlackBerry app world is easily one of the best performing in terms of revenue per app. They have just over 20,000 apps currently available, but many of those are enterprise-level applications that are substantially more expensive than the apps that mgiht be found in other app stores.

It will be interesting to watch how these numbers move in 2011. All of the companies are aggressively expanding their app stores, devices and carriers so more people are exposed to their products. Now that the very last users are starting to make the move to smart devices, it will be interesting to see if these new smart device users choose to go for the newbie friendly Apple iPhone 4 unlocked, or look elsewhere.

  • Droid X 2 Specs Make Their Way Online
Posted on February 21, 2011 by Pure Mobile

The Unlocked Droid X 2 is coming ever closer to the official announcement. Pictures and specs for the device have already leaked online, which could speed the device up quickly. The Droid X 2 will serve as the sequel to the first version of the supersized phone that has become quite popular since it was first released.

The photos and specs first showed up on a forum post over at The MobiZone, where all of the information was originally posted. The post has since been removed, but the information was already cached by Google, so the spread of the information could not be slowed

The specs are jaw dropping to say the least. The phone will feature an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core 1 gHz processor, that comes complete with a gigabyte of RAM, a nice LCD display that has a 540  x 960 resolution. Unfortunately the phone will be 3 G only, and will not be compatible with 4 G networks.

The Motorola Droid X2 unlocked will also have an 8 megapixel rear facing camera, but will not have a front facing camera for video conferencing. In the photos posted online it appears that the phone was running on Android Froyo 2.2, but it could be upgraded to Gingerbread before the official launch of the device. The launch is expected to come int he second quarter of 2011, although no official announcements have been made at this time.

At some point soon Motorola will be forced to publicly acknowledge the existence of the phone that they have tried to keep under wraps (although unsuccessfully) since it first went through the early stages of production. The device will also come with an FM radio, and will be the same size as the first version of the phone. The announcement of this phone has been highly anticipated by Android fans.
