  • HTC Scribe Unveiled in February
Posted on January 5, 2011 by Pure Mobile

HTC is a company that is known for delivering excellent mobile devices to their customers, but also has not attracted as much attention as some of the other companies within the same space. Now, it appears that the company will be making the official unveiling of their new HTC Scribe tablet device at the MWC in February. A number of sources close to the company have said that they will be making the announcement about their 7 inch screen tablet in Barcelona in February. Some have already speculated that the tablet device will be more popular broad than it will here in the states, but that doesn’t mean that it couldn’t rise to popularity in the west as well.

The HTC Scribe will reportedly run the Android 3.0 software, a few ticks below the latest version. This information was reportedly leaked by the Taiwanese parts manufacturer that has been working with HTC unlocked phones to build the device over the course of the last few months.

HTC is known for being a company that was one of the first to utilize the Android operating system for their devices, and in some instances can even be credited with helping Android rise to the popularity that it has now. HTC has yet to develop a tablet device and the Scribe will be the first offering by the company.

Although it won’t be as feature loaded as the PlayBook and other tablets that are set to hit the market here soon, the Scribe is expected to be one of the most popular tablet choices on the market as soon as it is released. HTC hopes to snatch up niche markets of users that are looking to find a tablet that will allow them to browse Flash websites, a feature that is missing from the iPad.

  • iPhones Experience Alarm Issues
Posted on January 5, 2011 by Pure Mobile

Have you been experiencing some trouble with your iPhone alarm? Now that the new year is here it is time to get back to a normal schedule and stop your late night partying and get up early in the morning. However, that doesn’t look like it will be so easy for users that rely on their unlocked iPhone 4 to wake them up in the morning. Since the new calendar year turned, it appears that many iPhone alarms stopped working all together.

A number of reports were released that said that the problem would be solved on January third, but there has been no adjustments made that can be seen so far. Some users have reported that their alarms have continued to work, while others report that their alarm rings at the wrong time of day or does not ring at all.

Apple will be forced to put out a quick patch to solve the issue as many people rely on their iPhone’s to wake them up in the morning instead of the traditional alarm clock. It will be interesting to see how quickly the company is able to put together a patch that solves all of the issues. When the patch does come out, if you would like your alarm to work, it is recommended that you have upgraded to the latest version of iOS so that the entire process goes as painlessly as possible for you.

Until the issue is completely fixed, you might want to use the bedside alarm that you threw in the closet a few years ago when you bought your first iPhone 4 unlocked. Apple has not been quick to solve the issue so far, and although it is a minor one it might be a bit more complicated than was originally thought since they have not released a patch at this time. Hopefully they are able to push out a patch that fixes the issue sometime in the coming days for those of us whose phones were not fixed automatically on the 3rd of January.

  • New BlackBerry Messenger Leaks
Posted on January 5, 2011 by Pure Mobile

The BlackBerry messenger is an application that is constantly updated. Now it appears that version 5.0.1.45 has made its way online. The news of the new message made its way online shortly after the leak. The newest version provides a number of adjustments that allow the messenger to perform better on a day to day basis. Research in Motion has added a number of speed enhancements that allow you to more quickly send and receive messages through BlackBerry messenger and has also added the ability for multiple parties to take part in group chats, a feature that has been waited for a long time by users.

At this point, the leaked version does not work on devices running on BlackBerry OS5 like unlocked BlackBerry Bold 9700, but that could change before it is officially released. If you plan on installing the leaked version of the software, remember to back up everything first as a number of users have reported issues and lost data after installing. Also, remember to follow any installation instructions provided to you by the book so that you do not run into any unwanted issues. An improperly upgraded device could become inoperable in some situations.

This upgrade should satisfy the millions of BlackBerry Messenger users that are constantly looking for new features. The speed enhancements should mean that users can more quickly share data with one another and it also means that group chats will allow users to chat between several different parties, a feature that has been rumored for a long time but has never been formally announced.

It will be interesting to see what BlackBerry unlocked cell phone has to say in their formal announcement for the update that is reportedly forthcoming. The features that they have added also allow you to integrate music that could potentially be shared with your chat friends later down the road. Could the BlackBerry Messenger become more of a collaborative tool in the future than a chat app?

  • The Motorola Olympus will be announced next week at the CES 2011 show according to sources close the company. AT&T will be holding their first press conference about the gadget sometime next week. The handset has been highly anticipated since the first images of the mobile device made their way online just a few weeks ago. It is known for its excellent display, solid processing power and also provides amazing performance. The size of the touch screen is huge, and is much larger than many of the other similar phones in the same price range.

The phone will reportedly be running on the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread software that has become so popular in recent months. No official confirmation has been made so far but it is believed that the phone will sport the newest version of the Android software. The size of the screen will be the main draw for most who are considering the purchase of the phone.

It will be interesting to see if the Motorola Olympus is able to sell as well as the previous Android Motorola Unlocked Phones. A lot of hype has been built around the device since the first leaks regarding it made their way online a few months ago. At the time, it was said that the phone would be looking at a December or January release date, but it has become clear that the announcement will come this month and consumers can expect the release of the Olympus to come a bit later. There is still the chance that the phone could launch at the end of January, although most companies opt to launch their devices at least a month following the official announcement, which is slated to come at CES 2011, which should be a hot bed for new mobile announcements next week.
