SMOOTH DESIGN & EASY TO USE
The BlackBerry Curve features a liquid silver finish, chrome highlights, smooth edges and soft curves. It is a full-featured smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard and large display and yet it boasts an impressively small and lightweight design at 4.2'' x 2.4'' x 0.6'' and approximately 3.9 oz. The ultra-bright 320x240 display brings images and video to life and includes RIM's light sensing technology that automatically adjusts backlighting levels for indoor, outdoor and dark environments. The handset also features RIM's innovative trackball navigation system that makes scrolling and selecting fast and easy.
MULTIMEDIA TO GO
The BlackBerry Curve comes with a 2 megapixel camera, complete with 5x digital zoom, built-in flash, self-portrait mirror and full screen viewfinder. The camera can capture images in up to three picture quality and size resolutions that can be shared instantly by email, MMS or BlackBerry® Messenger and transferred over Bluetooth® or USB cable. Photos can also be immediately set as a unique caller ID or Home Screen image.
The audio system is crisp and clear, playing music and videos through the handset's integrated speaker or through the 3.5 mm stereo jack. The Bluetooth stereo audio profile (A2DP/AVRCP) is supported, and dedicated volume controls are conveniently located on the side of the handset.
A powerful new desktop media manager is also included with the BlackBerry Curve. The Roxio® Media Manager for BlackBerry®, which was developed with Sonic® and based on the award-winning Roxio Easy Media Creator® 9, introduces a new level of simplicity, allowing users to easily search for media files on their computer, view and organize them, create MP3 music files from CDs, add audio tags, create playlists and automatically copy or convert pictures, music and videos for optimal playback on the BlackBerry Curve.
The media manager also includes Roxio Photosuite® 9 LE, a comprehensive tool that makes it easy to edit pictures and create photo albums. With PhotoSuite, pictures can be cropped, rotated and straightened, and flaws can be fixed by removing redeye or changing the brightness, contrast and saturation levels. Pictures can even be enhanced with color filters and special effects.
The media player on the BlackBerry Curve has been refined, allowing users to search for music by simply typing the title, genre, artist or album name. Videos can also be played in full screen mode.
MORE STORAGE FOR YOUR TUNES, FLICKS AND PICS
For added storage of music, videos and pictures, the BlackBerry Curve comes with a microSD expansion slot. It supports up to 2GB cards that are available today and will automatically support 4GB cards that are expected to become available later this year.

when will the blackberry curve 8300 be available? what is the price range it will be selling for?
jose on June 5, 2007
good
Monty on June 13, 2007
The Curve from BlackBerry is just a BlackBerry Pearl with a full QWERTY keyboard. The Pearl shouldn't even exist. Now, is this better than the BalckBerry 8800? I like the trackball but I prefer the colour of the 8800. I also hear that this is the Multimedia 8800 because it has a camera and a bunch of goodies. I guess this is like the BlackBerry for students and more media consumers and the 8800 is for business people. Even for business, I would still use the 8300.

What's the difference between the RIM Curve 8300 and the BlackBerry Curve 8300? is it the same thing? I hear RIM and BlackBerry did a partnership but I don't know why would the have two models of the same phone?
Brad on June 13, 2007
RIM and BlackBerry are the same company Erin. BlackBerry is just RIM's brand for PDAs.
erin on June 13, 2007
Thanks! didn't see that one coming...

How will the unlocked Blackberry Curve differ from the soon to launch T-Mobile version? Of course, I know that it can be used with any carrier, but will T-Mobile offer any added services?
Clay on June 20, 2007
Dropped this phone accidentally from 3 feet onto a linolium floor and the screen cracked. Major disoppointment. I don't know how many times I have dropped my older blackberry's on cement, and they kept working. The Curve is weak!!!
Garfield on July 15, 2007
Does/will this unlocked phone work with Spritn/Nextel? I an considering this because sprint does not have this model and I am unwilling to get less service from sprint by changing from my Nextel plan.
the answer on July 16, 2007
Cindy-
The T-Mobile version that will be released in September will be the 8320 model. This will include Wi-Fi, and will be the first RIM Blackberry device to do so. Theres a good chance that this will work with Tmobile Hotspots and
Hope that answers it.

Anyone know if Bell or Telus Mobility will carry this model in the future in Canada or something similiar?
Gordon on September 24, 2007

Wafik on April 21, 2008

What do you mean, will I get service in North America or not?
It depends on the manufacturer. We bring the latest GSM Mobile Phones from all over
the world and usually the manufacturer's local office don't know about these

to the manufacturing office that most of the times, if not all, is overseas.
I want service in North America!

What is Sim Free? A sim free phone is a phone that is not
locked to the sim card of a specific carrier.
What is Unlocked? An unlocked phone is a phone that can work
with any sim card and/or GSM service provider. Please note that at least one
of the GSM Bands in the phone should match the GSM service prodiver's bands.
What is a Sim Card? A sim card is a small flat rectangle plastic
that contains a microchip. This microchips is the heart of your phone, it contains
your phone number, your address book, and the necessary information for your phone
to work. All sim cards look the same, but the microchip inside is different for
every GSM service provider.
What is a GSM service provider? A GSM service provider (carrier)
is a company providing you with a working line and phone number. To do this, they
will provide you with a sim card.
My GSM service provider does not have sim cards, why?
If your service provider does not have sim cards, then it does not use GSM
technology. Our phones will not work with non-GSM service providers.
What is GSM and non-GSM?
GSM is a mobile phone technology that uses TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access).
GSM stands for Global System for Mobile communications. The competing system is CDMA
(Code Division Multiple Access). GSM and CDMA are not compatible systems. If a phone
is designed for GSM, it will not be compatible with CDMA and vice-versa.
What are GSM Bands 900/1800/1900 Mhz? GSM technology can work on
up to 4 frequencies: 850 Mhz, 900 Mhz, 1800 Mhz, and 1900 Mhz.
Some GSM phones support all the bands or frequencies, or just a couple.
A dual band phone supports only two, usually 900/1900 or 850/1900.
A tri-band phone supports three bands, either 850/1800/1900 or 900/1800/1900.
A quad-band phone supports all GSM bands. Quad-band phones are able to
work with any and all GSM service providers.
On the other hand, GSM service providers support just a subset of all the GSM bands
available. Before buying a GSM phone, make sure the phone supports at least one
of the bands that your GSM service provider supports.
Do I need a contract to buy an Unlocked Phone?
No. A contract is required between you and the GSM service provider for you to
get a working phone line. A contract is not required between you and PureMobile.
No service plan included?
GSM service providers offer phones at discounted prices attached to their service
plans. The catch is these phones are locked to their sim cards. You cannot
use them with other GSM service providers. Our mobile phones are unlocked, they
reflect the real market price of a mobile phone and they are not locked to
a specific GSM service provider. That's why we do not attach any service plan to them.
What are 3G / HSDPA Bands?
3G is the 3rd Generation of mobile standards. 3G is also known as HSDPA or HSPA. 3G technology provides high speed data transfer which allows for a much richer multimedia experience on mobile devices. 3G technology allows for faster internet access, streaming tv and video, music and other types of entertainment content. A data plan with a GSM carrier is recommend to use 3G / HSDPA technology.
